It's alright, Silk is one of the worst main heroines I've ever come across though.

I'd consider stopping after volume 12, because the pacing becomes ridiculously fast afterwards; to the point the enjoyment of the story drops.

Tl;Dr: it's an excellent story until Volume 14 where the author just completely loses any and all vision and turns it into a Sci-Fi flick with a bunch of plot holes and reasonableness mixed in.

Okay to start off I think this is a great novel worth reading. The characters are solid in the story building is well done with okay pacing. I feel like the concept is fairly original and that it's not just a straight-up reincarnation story. It takes a unique twist of having multiple personalities and the one... more>> person which also brings demerits of inheriting their fetishes and quirks. But overall it keeps Pace pretty well until the very end when it all falls apart. One thing that doesn't work very well is the timeline. One volume the MC will be fighting with barbed wire and flamethrowers and then suddenly the enemy has the technology to produce rockets even though there was no explanation on how or where they got that information. It's all just explained away as the church's artifacts. So other than some slight plot armor for the enemies even having a chance, take characters make up for it I think.

Now for the bad. Unfortunately this novel seems to be abandoned after going halfway through Volume 14. It feels like the author completely lost their vision for what they were trying to do and just decided to Chuck Volume 14 out there and then gave up on the rest. Volume 13 ended with them almost one-sidedly trouncing the largest country on the continent and instead of being allowed to finish the battle and actually win suddenly a princess from a country that was never even mentioned up until now just shows up as someone almost as strong as the MC and also happens to be reincarnated... Who knows why. And then she goes on to explain the "true history of the beast race"and how that the main character is endangering the tire SpaceTime Continuum or something... Just completely changes gears and it devolves from there.

Other than the devolution of the writing to something like I would find on Wattpad, I also find that a couple of the wives of the MC just don't get screen time anymore. The first girl he was with that literally has been with him through his childhood just hasn't been mentioned in like three volumes even though she was the most devoted. Quite a shame.

Anyways that's my take on this novel it's a good read overall and does way better than most in this genre but overall it leaves a disappointing taste in the mouth. <<less

Great story so far, even the later parts where it's more focused on war and politics the author does his research and it shows. Also if you like games like Crusader Kings I think you will really like this novel. The only reason I give it a 4, is that despite the MC not being the average Japanese MC beta wimp, he barely flirts with his harem after their first introduction (I'd give it a 4.5/5 if I could though).

Maybe I've just been spoiled by the likes of Mushoku Tensei,... more>> but what is the point of having a harem of beautiful girls if you're not going to give them attention? Some flirting moments every other chapter would go a long way. It's also weird reading about the secondary characters getting more action than the MC and his girls. Speaking of secondary characters the author really likes to talk about them, I don't care much for that so I usually skip if they aren't relevant to the story. <<less

Okay let me start this started as one of my alltime fav reincarnation novel. It started good withh good jovial interesting characters and I was aiming for it to get better, sadly it took a bad turn and I dropped after Volume 9.

Pros:

It started good, interesting characers. Has story depth and good world development. Hero can actualy think, judge and act. And specially It has mind games.

... more>> Cons:

The conventional garbage of comedy and meaningless tr*sh talk. I mean Important information regarding baldr's 3 lives and king's gate are left out, given less time. But literally every side characters, their minions their story their thaughts and decisions are explained which often seems boring, reptitive and not needed. Above all the interaction between main characters remain just the same as they were introduced first time. There is very little development. And the many main characters are conventional and cringey as hell as you'd expect from a japanese isekai novel.

All in all, to sum it up, it is a good read if you can withstand repitive cringey comedy and one track characters. And if you do withstand, you can then enjoy the world development of thestory. For me it is boring. Have fun read. <<less

I like stories with MC being involved in politics and using otherworldly knowledge to gain wealth. Definitely an interesting, fun (for the most part) read. But it also generic with how the characters act/behave. That's the childhood friend. Super mom protective of son. The father barely involved in the story (or in the son's life). Not bad cast of characters but... it's hard to care about some of them and not roll my eyes sometimes.

Volume 2, I expected to be the school arc. But I was half glad... more>> it wasn't so but it felt the school was only there so he can get friends/allies. No tropes like a pompous, elite student thinking the MC is inferior. No tournament at the school. He only spent a year there but most of plot happens wasn't school related. This volume was meh.

The harem... I'm mixed about. I'm glad he took the initiative to marry, but at the same time I felt the relationships are shallow. They love the MC because this and that. And that's it. I heard he will have like 7 wives. The harem in "How a Realist Rebuild the Kingdom" was more palpable.

I thought the world building was good. Giving pieces of information when need be. Except in volume 2 there was a spoon-fed exposition about another kingdom/dukedom. Just to give context about a harem member's background and aspirations (and for a future volume plot).

So, yeah. Thought it was a good series. Got a few things checked on my list of what I wanted. Of course, not every volume gets a gold star. And there were some scenes where I get bored or uninterested. <<less

Enjoyable read, it doesnt deserve 5 stars but not less than 4, the plot is not bad, also the characters have their own characteristics, they can be better but still you will like it as they are, the harem is getting bigger with time.

Spoiler

currently 5 or 6 + the author seems like he has an inclination towards masochism but nothing extreme

[collapse]

So if you dont like harems maybe dont try it, even though its not revolved around the harem and the story is quite enjoyable even without it.

Lets not forget that its a novel that you get addicted to, thats why I need more!! And I highly recommend.

btw the trasnlation is good and the release is stable after bakape*vert took over the job, I appreciate their work and I hope they will continue with the same energy. <<less

+ translation quality (simple amazing)

+ character development (MC and support cast)

+ mix of funny with dramatic moments

... more>> + world

+ combat based on martials arts, with magic as support (no fireballs)

+ great use of Isekai memory, its not just a excuse to have someone with memories from a past life, it actually makes a huge difference both for the MC and the story.

- plot is too fast or too neat. There are too many moments that feels like fate/destiny is leading the story, and not the MC by being smart or prepared. Could use more development.

- harem and sometimes forced romance. Some girls are obvious choices (childhood friends), while others just fall of the sky. But it adds to the funny moments and has some characteristics of Sevens novel (poor MC, harem is no path for happiness but the cant escape haha)

Definitely worth a reading <<less

Impossible to read after volume 2. I guess I'm spoiled by superior Chinese wuxia writers that know how to create a game of thrones like, medieval world. This is a cringey, bubbly shounen story, I lost interest with the extremely lame comedy. It's a shame because I was already thinking that I'd found a Japanese story I enjoy as much as mushoku tensei : (

Overrated. MC has 3 personalities of a high schooler and a samurai. There's no real challenge for the MC, in fights Edo personality takes over and becomes op in fights. The way MC knows how to make things are too convenient.
Spoiler

He's knows how to make beer since his big brother made him drink it, wheel spindle, flying shuttle, cement, desserts, lighting rod, hand pump.

[collapse]
Characters are ok, typical personalities. Romance is terrible, characters fall in love with MC in one glance. Characters described as strong and stoic become maidens in love after 1 interaction. Comedy is repetitive. Some politics are there but nobles are morons.

This one is really good.

The MC is not a doormat and he is not naive who say "you shouldn't kill humans" all those bullshits.

The last time read a story like this "Sevens".

The translation is superb and bakape*vert didn't drag long like other translators and posted all 14 volumes within 2 months.

Thankx bakape*vert you are the best.

I recommend it.

Its just another Hero story with a noble society n politics as a setting, trouble will come find the MC no matter if he does great stuff or not, I prefered when he was in his parent territory making money then some shitty nobles who are jelouse n some prideful country pulling off schemes left n right

If at least the MC was merciless like Worsenia Senki n kill all n every enemy, that would've being nice, cz playing a good noble with all those shitty bastards isn't the good thing... more>> to do <<less

An interesting take on Isekai. In the early stages of the series the author takes steps to make the novel moderately realistic. When the MC is extremely young he regains the memories and personalities of two of his previous lives in the form of slip personality disorder. One of his previous personalities was a modern Japanese (Masaharu) man who (due self described chunni illusions) researched innumerable subjects in case they were ever transfer to another world, the other personality was a general from the Warring states period (Sanai) with an... more>> awkward gold coin fetish. By the time the real story starts the MC is basically personality as his Japanese personalities have (mostly) come to the conclusion that this is not their life to live, but the MC retains the their memories so some of his personality traits are inherited from the Japanese personalities. Masaharu has only come to the forefront in the very beginning of story for a very average shonen comedic affect, otherwise his memories are only used to provide a dues ex machina for the character to have masses knowledge for semi modern technology, agriculture, and business. Sanai plays a much larger role throughout the series as he takes over the main character in moments of great physical danger. Sanai’s memories also provide the MC with the means for great spiritual growth. Sanai’s gold fetish also drives the MC to become economic powerhouse. Overall, Sanai’s personality is far more developed than Masaharu and becomes an important existence to the MC.

The first several books in the series progress very much like most other harem Isekais. The main character quickly wows those around him and has heat seeking arrows to pierce the hearts of the girls around him. There are some standout features that this book does well: 1. Side characters (even harem members) are well fleshed out, they all feel like real characters (as much as they can considering this is still a light novel and the use of archetypes is heavy. 2. Even though the instances feel contrived the main character experiences meaningful set backs. 3. All major characters show visible personality growth. After the first book the author makes effort to show that MC is still a kid and makes a greater effort to show their progress as they mature.

All in all, I am satisfied with the story so far. The series really hits a lot of marks I like to see in this type of escapism fantasy and I am generally happy with writing style/translation. <<less

After reading to this far, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite novels in the site. In the beginning few volumes the main character was taking a bit of a backseat, while his other personalities took control here and there. They came at convenient times, but this was pretty much explained early on because anything that caught the attention of one of his personalities would bring them to the forefront. It was also stated that due to his young age, he was still adjusting to having three... more>> souls in one body, so things were still a bit unstable.

But I will say this right here. After the first few volumes, the story of our main protagonist begins. We clearly see that after the first major battle; his personalities very rarely appear again as they realize that it’s not their place to interfere in the main hero’s life.

The protagonist, Baldr, pretty much grows up to learn to survive without the help of his past lives showing up anymore. Instead, he uses their knowledge himself to his advantage while the other two mainly stay dormant except for certain small occasions. The story really picks up from volume 6 onwards, and may I say, it’s getting pretty fun. <<less

It really seems like this author has a simp fetish which he can almost but not quite contain. All of the women in this novel are violent and domineering, and all the men are their punching bags.

If that aspect is overlooked, many other aspects of this novel are quite good and the story is genuinely interesting, at least in the first volume.

What I'd like to see in future volumes is for the women in volume 1 to be de-emphasized and for the MC new characters to be introduced consisting of... more>> male comrades and non-psychotic women, but based on how the volume 1 characters have been built up I doubt the author has it in him.

As of the end of volume 1 my expectation is that my rating for this novel will most likely drop the more volumes I read. <<less

Biggest problem of the novel are boring and redundant characters. It starts with the MC, who is a native of the isekai world, but also has 2 Japanese souls inside of him.

One soul a modern day dude, the other a samurai. The MC and the modern soul are almost carbon copies from each other though. If the modern soul or the native soul where to disappear nothing would really change.

The harem of the MC is just as unneeded. Many waifus are introduced for one plot point, and just hang on... more>> afterwards and parasite on the screen time after their plot point is resolved. All the waifus are virg*n power bottoms thirsting after the king cobra of the MC. And they are all jealous of each other. Characters that can only unerotically ramble about their b**b sizes and how they are the #1 waifu are just boring.

They are all the same character with some slight minor differences.

On top of that the romance scenes are boring in general, so you want to skip them anyways.

The villains are all either cookie cutter Young Masters, or muscle head macho men, who wish to die in battle.

Slightly below average isekai. <<less

This is a kingdom-building isekai that I strongly recommend if you want to know what the genre can achieve. If you want a good ending don't bother. I am a big fan of this novel and it comes out of the gate strong. There are a lot of interesting technologies and exciting battles to keep you interested too. Unfortunately, the story is currently in some kind of hiatus and the recent developments of the backstory don't really add much.

The start of the story deserves a 5 and it kept up... more>> the momentum for a long time and that is why I am giving it a 5. Sadly, even before this dull backstory stuff the story had started to get a little over-reliant on plot devices. Still, there are a lot of fun ideas in the early parts and I definitely recommend this for anybody who is interested in reading about a young lord with future knowledge and OP battle skills. Just be prepared to abandon this without a proper conclusion. <<less

One of the more enjoyable isekai's with a good balence between action and comedy. There are some caveats though as sometimes the MC's personality and behaviour is inconsistent with his previous behaviour etc but it's been an enjoyable read so far and I can safely rate this 3.8 upto vol 14 which I've read. (This is only for the ln version.) (The wn version is quite unpolished in comparison)

I really like this novel. It has a good balance of action and romance/drama, interesting characters, and generally treats its enemy characters like human beings instead of plot fodder. Overall, I think the author (and translator!) have done a great job.

I do have some complaints, although these are mostly complaints of the action genre in general. The treatment of technology is rather crude - sometimes, a single rocket arrow can destroy a massive battleship, but when the MC is on the ship suddenly rocket arrows become mild nuisances since it... more>> turns out a rocket arrow is actually kinda hard to deal with otherwise. Although it was written that cannons take 1 second to travel 100m, suddenly character have enough time for some light tsukkomi, massive trajectory changes, and/or throwing spears to deflect the cannonball (when the MC is on the ship, other ships just die). Some scenes are clearly written with logic out the window just for a nice cover image, like a massive ship avoiding hundreds of arrows without a scratch. If the MC does get injured, they'll recover from any broken bones in under a week. The biggest military nation on the continent for some reason has no generals with actual military experience, which is probably the only way the MC could actually win against them.

Despite my complaints about the author's liberal usage of deux ex machina, they've created a nice world and a good story. Give it a try! <<less
