Basically what we have here is a protagonist who after 20 years in a monster infested world is still the same weak willed tr*sh that he was before he went in. He's overly accomodating to everyone and s*upidely naive. His parents treat him like a child irrespective of the fact hes over 40 years old.

I mean theres even a scene where the father confiscates a phone off the MC and tells him to go to sleep because hes staying up too late.

what is this. Is the MC a 5 year old or 40 years old.

Spoiler

This is full on spoilers to explain to you how I just wanted to even rate it to negative points

i didnt even need to finish chapter 8 to figure out that reporter was just sent to show how journalism works

jesus, realistically the writing is right about citizenship not monsters, hunters and hunting

but we all didnt come here to get bamboozled for society lessons

all 8 chapters pretty much was spent in random places to fill up shitty explanations of how much of a boomer he has become after returning back to earth since his disappearance 20 years ago

that gate shouldn't have been opened if we are gonna spend 5 chapters talking about how much tasty modern foods are than back then

admiring technological advancements is fine yes but everytime you get "OwO what's this" over all and everything, instead of just asking your parents if there is a modern encyclopedia and just use that

Cap (steve rogers) handled this situation much better by listening to some podcast to get the general idea of where or what we currently are at

Cap bish don't have parents to count on, him alone had to catch up to modern society

these are all what that dumb protagonist said every time he encounters new stuff

OH MY GOD, LOOK A LAPTOP WOW! DAD WHAT'S THIS TOUCH SCREEN PHONE???

OH MY GOD, LOOK I CAN'T ORDER COFFE LIKE A USUALLY DO. BACK THEN JUST SAYING TWO THREE TWO DOES IT?!!

LOOK HOT CHICKS EVERYWHERE WITH MORE EXPOSED SKINS, GOSH I WISH I COULD BONE ONE! [Well he didnt exactly said everything like those but you get the idea and he didn't say he'd bone one, but he did keep drooling over every girl when he enters some buildings)

wtf

how they went with the story so far:

95% spent in how he will be coming back in society

1% on parents, siblings and nieces

1% on getting sold out to some hungry disgusting media for shitty ass articles

1% just small parts on what happened for the past 20 years, which was disappointing and a huge let down

1% just having no clue over everything not even looking at the news, history or just the general knowledge nowadays

like example. Today at 2020, every month we suffer weird catastrophic events and this month US is having riots and protest all over the country, corona virus is still alive

1% getting into bad situations cause of his "returner" fate, came back after 20 years of getting trapped in that gate and said to be missing inconvenient hunter associatione employees, reporters and cops everywhere

from what the author or this translator word it

this MC is scared of that association employee dude, which was f*cking s*upid

bit*h you fought A gate tier monsters for 20 years and eating crystals/shards

YES, he held back and aint wanna deal with it by anger issues

but ever heard of releasing "Strong Being's Auras" which mean he show off how much you could bend this big guy with only a small finger

MC is a

- pushover cliche

- naive and typical dumbass

- 20 years of pointless experience without any personality change or even just be cold, you dumbass went through hell and the most dangerous place on earth

atleast show you aren't gonna be willing enough to let your parents die cause of how much you enjoy acting like a total ret*rded but actually is the strongest human

still got no clue who are the hunters, what are they, where are they, how many are they and how are they.. Except for back then 20 years ago at the last raid for the final A gate

we had a small info thanks to that beginning

but after the time skip, it feels like we are just watching a K drama highschool romcom

and translator gotta work up on that English, even if we both got english as our second language (tho it's my 3rd one) you got us confused sometimes

at chapter 5 or 6 something something, he went for his sister

which was only named dropped, not even a note or saying like, hey guys this is her sister remember chapter 3 or 2 where I said about her husband dying

just Min blah blah blah (forgot name lol)

grab a cab and I went for power point to meet Min (power point market or workplace for lil sis)

thats all ig, probably gonna have to drop

magic, hunter, monsters, gates and all those tags this is just about drama and story of how normal our 20 years trapped in gate, 47 year old MC who looks like he is just in his early 20's and he aint totally powerful enough to be staying at A gates

he aint even smart enough

just typical average joe everybody, a nobody with nothing and he just normal at alllllll

in conclusion, it's a s*upid plan with inexperienced writer having a great idea but f*cked it up

i aint looking forward to fight scenes and how they would describe details or actions

Well, currently there's only a teaser of the novel with 2 translated chapters.

I saw potential, it intrigued me. The group currently translating this (Active Translations) is ok, but if they get an editor I think it could be really good.

Now onto the novel:

Spoiler

The world is full of hunters and gates (we do not know when or how this happened), and the 'last' gate could be closed, so a group of Rank A hunters made this happen, and the only hunter of Korea is our MC, Lee Seung-Ho, a porter. The clos**ent of the gate went smoothly, but a lot of the porters went missing (considered dead) in the process, our MC included. 10 years later, the gates opened once again, and another ten years passed (assumption bc of c2, when he said "20 years ago") until the gate where our MC is trapped was opened. Our MC picked up a taxi (paid it with a mana stone) and went home. When he opens the door, his mother (a woman in her 60s) was there. He says "Mother..." while crying and c2 ended.

I enjoyed it, think it has a lot of potential. 5/5 <<less

Below are the opinions I have about the novel, I'm not going to give a rating just yet as the novel is still in it's early stages and so far... I'm fine with it. Minor spoilers ahead.

Unlike the 1 star reviews, I think it's a well fitted setting. Yes, it's all over the place. Yes, it's mostly about him fitting in to modern society. It can be boring to some. If this screams boring, just stop reading or just wait for more chapters. It might be like overgeared, because the... more>> first 80 or so chapters of overgeared are just hard to read and it might pick up from here.

As of c16, not much action is going on, the author took a long time to describe him being not fitted for the modern society. I do think most people take technology for granted, but cut the dude some slack, he lived in a primitive environment for 20 years. Thus, getting overly amazed by modern tech is pretty much norm (but I do agree it might be a bit too much). Regardless, I do think that this novel deserves some chance.

Now, for heavy spoilers:

Spoiler

MC, yes he is ignorant, being somewhat weak-willed in some aspects, but there are some good reasons why he act as such.

1) He does not want to worry his family members any further about the terrible experience and battles within the gate.

2) He wants to fit in to society and fail to do so as his knowledge cannot keep up with the modern technology.

3) Well, there are people who does not brag about their strengths, and this MC is no exception.

As of c16, we do get to see his powerful side! Like rescuing his niece from being kidnapped, defeat dumpling like one punch man. Heck he is considering to re-evaluate himself so he can work as a hunter!

As for the parents treating him like a child... I mean come on, just imagine your children working in a dangerous field and went MIA for 20 years. Wouldn't you be more protective? I just don't really understand why it gets such low rating reviews for the first few chapters, I mean, come on, he just come back to earth for a few days, or maybe a month or two, how the heck you fit in super fast? Just imagine a history figure got transferred into a future society, at least it has less cringy things compared to those type of plot.

Overall this novel has potential and I shall wait till the novel is translated as least to chapter 30 before editing this review. Thanks for reading my long review for this novel and have a great day. <<less

So far seems promising. (As of chapter 11) He was trapped in another world for twenty years and the past ten chapters have been about him being reintegrating with society. As well as foreshadowing about that him being left behind was no accident and that there is more to the last gate closing then meets the eye. Possible a big bad on the horizon. Also, when his family is in danger, he gets to show off some of his OPnes they have been hinting at by his sheer... more>> survival in such a hostile environment. As the story is only 130 chapters or so I expect the plotline to pick up soon now that the setting is established. <<less

Frustrating. Premise of the story is that protagonist get out of dungeon after 20 years of being trapped in it. The MC is in his 40s and before he was trapped, he was in his 20s. With that sort of age you would expect MC to have developed brain but no, he is so naive and submissive towards other people.
