When he regained consciousness he was already in another world. There was no meeting with a God, no cheat skills, just a sudden reincarnation. There was no time to find his bearings either, he was in a life-or-death trouble from the start that would somehow result in being employed as a valet to a vain youngster from an aristocratic family.

He would, in time, discover an astonishing truth about this new world and vow to fight it with all his might to protect the people important to him. No matter how reckless that would be.

This one was a Rollercoaster for me personally but I'll keep it short.....

Arc 1 (9/10) amazing the relationship between Rion, Ariel and Vincent are great and wholesome. The budding romance between Rion and Ariel is just cute, all in all I enjoyed it.

Arc 2 (7/10) Um..I like it, I enjoyed Rion talking and working to help his feif.

... more>> [First half]Arc 3 (6/10) All in all I thought it was decent.

Everything after the first half of arc 3 is tr*sh, if you want more, other commenters have said my thoughts and included spoilers if you don't care

My take away is just stop reading after the second arc. <<less

Approximately a 3.5/5 rounded to 4.

Certainly an entertaining story with a interesting take on the whole otome game genre.

With a cast of characters who actually act human in certain cases. Mainly the entire plotline revolving around, ... more>>
Spoiler

A battle against all odds, fighting the "World" and narrative of the storyline going against MC-kun, foiling his actions and driving him to scenarios of the main storyline to reversing the changes he had done in the original storyline of the otome.

[collapse]

Characters whom I personally would briefly praise would be the MC and the Prince. Due to the dynamic friction that happens between them throughout the storyline. Also the romance between MC-kun and FemC-san were great.

My main gripe about this webnovel would be the novel not being fully translated, and how the ending was too rushed, that the grand reveal at the end was abrupt and hadn't done the end justice. <<less

I have never, in my life, have read such an aggravating story before. It started off interesting, a unique take on reincarnation or transmigration. Then it turned into smth increasingly irritating when they did the sch arc. Like no other character in the novel except the trio MC had any goddamn common sense n them antagonising our trio MC was very annoying.

THEN CAME THE PART THAT JUST GAVE ME HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. I was so angry with what happened, I had chest pains. Idk if that means that the novel... more>> is so good it moved me to the point I had biological reactions. BUT IT WAS SO UPSETTING I had to drop this story, I heard after this blood boiling part of the novel, it gets better BUT I can’t recover from that. That was just too much for me.

If y’all love to feel angry, this novel is perfect for u. If u maso, it’s also a good for u.
I’m really not hating on the novel quality itself, its just that by personal preference, I couldn’t handle how the plot went. It’s still a very intriguing story so I’m giving it a decent rating. <<less

I literally cried when I found out that the novel became a mess and the above happened. But, the first arc was really well executed

Even though I didn't really like how Vincent died.

tl:dr Incredibly unique compared to most stories on this site. Absolutely worth reading.

Me giving this a 5/5 starts does not mean I think this is a perfect story or a masterpiece.
However, it does mean that I think this a great read. The translation done by HM is genuinely superb, and the writing is clean and easy to read through.

The story starts off pretty simple but it's a typical isekai plot. At least at first. The prose and translation is done very well, and that's enough for most... more>> people to not care if it's all that generic at the start. The plot starts to pick up pretty quickly soon after the first chapters.

I really appreciate the world building that went into this story. There's a lot of politics going on and countries involved and the story slowly feeds you the info to let you understand what's important at the moment, but not overwhelm you with walls of text. By the time you reach the end of the first major arc, you'll understand a lot of the scale of the conflicts going on.

Characters are also done surprisingly well, seeing as how this starts off as an isekai. I don't wanna spoil too much, but the amount of side characters that get actual development was a real surprise to me. You might not like all the characters but you can't argue that a large majority of the important characters are fleshed out, and I have to give praise to that.

Spoiler

Especially, especially Arnold's growth as a character. A character you're meant to despise ends up growing up to be a very competent ruler and realizes the error of his ways. Definitely one of my favorites.

[collapse]

Unfortunately, where the story is right now, it's falling back into more tropes and cliches. But compared to other stories on this site, it stands head and shoulders above any of them. One of my personal favorites. <<less

if you can find the way to read further chapters, I do recomend, however, extremely minor spoilers ... more>>
Spoiler

the politics are boring as f*ck

[collapse]

this is just my opinion, but after like chapter 85-90 I fully believe you can just skip or skim through the chapters and reach 97 or whatever and not miss much because the story completely flips and it starts going balls deep into boring as hell topics that take up huge chunks of chapters.

Spoiler

i dont give a f*ck about merica and giant wars, why cant we just skip the obvious sh*t and get back to what make the story great, ariel and rion. F*ck war, its boring. Who cares about a bunch of old white men standing around in a room talking about how great rion is for the 10th time, or who cares about watching a giant battle from merica's perspective for the 15th time. *Obvious spoiler alert* rion and his super army will win every time.

but in spite of the boring recent chapters, its a great novel <<less

Really good novel that takes a really big turn from usual isekai cliches, lots of character development and depth, and microscopic to no amount of bullsh*t involved in the story. Would greatly encourage anyone who is looking for a great isekai story that will hook you.

P.S: To anyone who would like to read this story and thinks it's stalled, then I have good news. The novel is still ongoingly translated by current translators, it's just that they cut ties with novelupdates.

It is just one of the best novels I've ever read, if not the best.

Fast paced, but not sloppy, every chapter is a revelation, you never want to stop reading.

And the translation, the translation is fantastic, I can easily give it a 10 out of 10, with the work Hikki no Mori does on it, it's incredible, and frankly extraordinary, that they can manage one chapter every week. They have my full and total respect. If you end up reading this, Guys, you're the best. A warning, though: after chapter... more>> 74, accessing the translation gets a bit tricky, but if you have a modicum of brain and patience, you won't have problems. In extreme cases, you will find that the translators left clearer hints in the comments of the chapter you're trying to read, so don't be discuraged, after all, the story deserves some efforts. And personally, I think the riddles are funny.

So, if you're looking for an intricate story of love, friendship, politics and loyalty, here, you're served with the best there is! <<less

I feel like have been hit by a truck of emotion, so hard that I skip my next reincarnation.

The main strength of this work is to rediscover your already-bland emotion, to make you feel rich flow of emotion.

Early chapters are slow paced. I usually avoid drama genre, and also academy/school genre. Because the MC are usually edgy, but not this one. He was actually reincarnated in otome game "capturing prince" something like that. But he was neither the protagonist, nor the antagonist. He was the butler of the antagonist's older... more>> brother.

The story taste is mature, he did mature/immoral/dirty things to gather information for his master, crazy loyalty. He also already killed someone before. His relation with the "antagonist" is the most interesting one. The academy arc is mainstream drama, typical quarrel between nobles and commoner "protagonist" girl. You can feel the tension is building up every chapter.

BAM. Suddenly the story take 180 degrees turn. It's not s*upid noble girls quarrel anymore, it was tragedy.

Something like he desperately trying to change fate. His enemy isn't the "protagonist" anymore, but the "world" or fate.

As our MC goes through hardship, we feel anxiety.
As our MC cry out desperate scream, we try holding up our build-up flow of emotion, maybe tears.
As our MC glare at his enemies, we feel disgust.

Yep, after those arc, he changed. Maybe revenge, maybe wrath, maybe disgust, who knows.
Then it goes to war arc, the characters around him goes through interesting change of behavior, either allies or enemies. Some left unchanging, but I feel heavy characters developments of those around him, lead by regret, anger, greed, anxiety. This is the reason that this novel is interesting.

It goes from prologue, s*upid typical "otome game" drama, tragedy, war against demon, then game of thrones.
Fear not, this isn't your typical "otome game" drama genre. <<less

The novel's prelude is a typical cliche, the MC getting reincarnated in another world in a tr*sh individual. The following story is off the beaten path fortunately. Its an ok read, if you can get past:

  • The stiff translation
  • The abrupt changes in personality of the MCs
  • The MC hiding his abilities
  • The s*upidity of the MCs and nonsensical decisions. Author's efforts to make a situation dramatic and interesting.
Essentially its a lot amateur writing in comparison to the vast majority of novels here. One thing I like though is the excess sarcasm and blatant... more>> joke, the author made of the plot armor employed in other works of fiction. <<less

5/5 This novel is a masterpiece! and if author has written more novels I'm definetly planning on reading them.

So for starters, what made this novel so special to me is quality of author. Plot is well thought out, characters are suberb and the reason why it took me so long to pick up and read this novel the harem tag which I dislike turned out to be misleading since it is not the MC who seeks the harem.

First arc is quite generic but interesting non the less and I was... more>> honestly surprised that things didn't follow the usual happy ending for MC, which proved this novels worth, author doesn't shy away from breaking readers expectations.

Second arc which is soon nearing its end is one interesting ride to get on and since translated chapters ended in very cliffhangerish part, I went ahead and tried to make some sense of google translated raws. I wont say spoilers but the war arc is way better than the previous school arc and world-chan truly is cruel to the MC... <<less

In my opinion, story quality is entirely dependent on the person reading it.
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I must say that I quite enjoy this story. It's really rather interesting in how the main character never seems to fully get out of his disadvantageous situation that most transmigrated individuals are thrust into, if they are not overpowered. While we're on the topic of overpowered, while he definitely becomes very powerful very quickly, it's not to the point of being completely invincible and crushing the senior... more>> generation. Then again, I guess I'm not in a position to say this, since I'm not that far in.

Now, the real selling point of the novel, for me at least, was the characters.

Spoiler

The sheer amount of hatred I felt towards Maria after I realized that she was assisted by the world, treated everyone as NPCs (even though she clearly knows she was reincarnated into this world) and can't seem to get out of the mindset that treats this like an otome game (I know she's doing it to defeat the devil in the end, but she doesn't need to build a harem, does she?) Other objects of hatred were the world and Arnold. Still hate Maria more, though.

[collapse]

The take on the reincarnation aspect, where both sides mutually respect each other and exchange control of the body for a while before merging, was pretty interesting. It's also one of the few novels that I've seen with a MC who does everything to serve another. I mean, he pretty much openly defied royalty and nearly killed himself, for his master. And he doesn't serve them without reason either, which is nice. Also, those other reviews that say he's a womanizer, are wrong... sure, he sleeps with a lot of women, but he's not sleeping with them for the s*x... in the end, he's doing everything in his power for Vincent and Ariel. At least, that's the impression I got from how much I've read so far. <<less

Holy f*ck! This is truly a masterpiece, the story, how it flow and interwine always take me a surprise.

Im not going to give long winded review I just want to tell you all contrary to the other review, I find every arc interisting with many twist, how usual prologue of mainstream isekai can lead to many roler coaster of emotion, I rather picky when the novel is complicated and tend to drop it when it reach lowest point, but this novel successfully rob 3 nights of sleep just to finish... more>> this novel until latest realease.

A truly fascinating novel. It has an intricate and interesting plot line. The characters are likeable. Although their actions sometimes proved to be illogical and the change in certain characters are rather sudden but it could have been with the reason of being influenced by The World. It has not given an exact reason, however. The story is more told in a third person pov which may limits a lot of perspectives. The MC is reasonably strong but has a lot of talents. The good thing is that although he... more>> does use the otherworld knowledge, many if his talents are a combination of both personalities existing within him. He doesn't overuse the knowledge. The personalities become less inherent the further one reads and I think it serves a good purpose for emphasizing that they are indeed merging together. The romance is logical, a little cringey and superficial at times. The protagonist/antagonist is also reasonable, she acts for her goal but her personality is questionably ignorant of her surroundings. There's a lot if invisible side characters but it's not hard to remember them. The characters have developments, sometimes abrupt and sometimes gradual. Ariel remains unchanged. Vincent was a great supportuing character that has a lot of change, similar to the Arnold. But his "result" is abrupt and it was a big sacrafice of a character that plays a really big role. But the novel plays it out good and made it a turning point precisely because of how important he was. Lancelot also has doubtful intelligence but he also shows meaningful moments of his actual mind and opinions that are not influenced constantly by Maria. Erwin differed from my initial impression and quite agressive. Charlotte also changes through out and she was a supporting character that makes a lot of things flow. There are a large variety of characters. Some sentiments and feelings are questionable but most makes sense. Every character has their own ambitions and power. The beginning story was more a drama between students with training. The latter part to recent updates was a fief building/war/politics with training. Things get stickier and the MC is increasingly being recognized and showing more expressions. His character has changed quite a bit. One of my favorite things ever about this novel is that plot armor is actually against his favor and he literally fights against it. It makes the story tense and exciting. The story line almost never goes his way in the first part and that made a big change to the MC. Overall, the novel is very enjoyable but there are some in inconsistencies. <<less

A story where we:

Sympathizes with the MC,

Loves the Villaines, and

... more>> Hates the Protagonist

A treasure among treasure, I dont usually write a review but this novel is so good that it makes me want to share it with every one.

A classic master-servant relationship that ends up together in the end and lives together. Their romantic story before and after is so romantic and their conversation with each other makes me want to have that kind of relationship (LOL XD).

Furthermore, the story is absolutely good that it makes me think why didn't I have found this a little earlier. I really recommend this to all the readers. <<less

Solid take on the "I'm not the protagonist" genre so wonderfully exemplified by "There’s a Pit in My Senior Martial Brother’s Brain". Only 4 stars, though, because I find the isekai main character's occasionally ruthless personality ill-motivated (as is often the case) and the total lack of conscience off-putting. I get it, ruthless characters come across as cool and strong - but they can tend to be pretty cookie-cutter, hard to empathize with, and are in any case far less impressive than (anti) heroes with a conscience, like Harold from... more>> My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending or Roland from The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich. <<less

The battle couple is amazing. It's great to read about them in action. They are willful, active, and intelligent hard-workers. They are the best thing about this series.

The writing in some spots is weaker than expected. The character development outside of the main couple also comes across as awkward. Even so, it's a gripping read. The battle strategies and otome heroine add to the excitement. <<less

This story is one of the best "isekai" light novels I've come across. It is well written, doesn't pull out the stops, and is believable given the setting. You can really sympathize with our MC too. The emotions in this one are almost tactile as well. It gets pretty dark at times though, so prep your heart if you wanna give it a shot.

An excellent story. I love it. It's another reincarnator story, but the author actually takes the time to write a real story with real characters instead of the usual two-dimensional wish fulfilment other reincarnator stories tend to fall into. The author still uses some familiar tropes and cliches, but that's justified by the story taking place inside an otome game. Give this a look if you're interested in romance, battle, or even city-building (that comes later though).

A lot of the negative reviews paint this as "dense MC is OP and... more>> irresistible to women, but makes obvious mistakes". This is horrendously unfair. We have all read those types of Japanese stories. This is not that. This is VERY different from that. If you read this hoping for Highschool DxD or Campione, you will be very disappointed. Most of the criticisms boil down to "MC totally should have done this differently". The people who say that should write their own stories or fanfiction. The MC is called dense for not realizing the love interest's feelings but

A: she expresses those feelings in a weird and violent way

B: she has resolved herself to go through with her important political marriage

and C: this is a world where a love across such a huge gap is social class is frowned upon.

The MC is also very devoted to the siblings and would never burden them with his emotions. As for the bit about him being irresistible and banging tons of girls, that's lust not love. Unlike other authors, this one actually understands the difference between love and lust. The random girls want to bang the MC, but they don't actually care about him. This isn't a typical harem story where every female is desperate to prove their eternal love for the MC. The MC is good-looking, so women sleep with him whether he wants it or not. So he learns to manipulate them to gain information.

If you actually take the time to read this novel you will see that the characters have actual personalities and their actions, no matter how dumb, have reasons behind them. If you don't like the story that's fine. But if you say the story sucks because you don't agree with the characters' choices, then you're just skimming through what you think is another shallow OP harem novel, and you aren't giving it the attention it deserves. <<less
