I really don't get what people say is so good about this novel. In the genre of chinese cultivation I would say that its not a bad one, it doesn't have the typical protagonist who is just as much of an ass as everyone else but the book frames it as they are in the right and it skips over a lot of the other annoying parts of cultivation but by no means would I call this a great book much less one of the best I have read.
The... more>> main character actively works to sabotage herself for no reason whatsoever other than to keep the plot going.
Spoiler

While her protecting Xiao Yi when he was a child is fine since she didn't know he was a bug yet her doing it after he was sleeping with the heretical cultivator is literally just the author forcing the plot along. Her purpose and goal was to dispose of him to save the world, so don't give me the "she was doing it for his master" or whatever since literally she is going out of her way to save the thing that is going to destroy the world. While she is not at fault for the little kid dying her actions are directly what caused him to die. She could not let him cope with his loss and move on, she kept deciding to spare a being that she knew would destroy the world, so while she isn't at fault she easily could of prevented this if she didn't continue to protect a being that will kill the world.
This plotline continues after this arc is over, where the plot is fueled by her s*upidity and her desire to protect life.
I don't think this novel is bad but I cannot understand why so many people act like this is the single best novel on the site.

i really dont like how strength is used in this novel

basically everyone is exactly the same, its like everyone is a mortal and cultivation is a piece of paper that says you can effectively attack certain people better than others

its like games, where no matter if you have 1 STR or 100 STR your character looks the same and the effects/CG are the same, its just that bigger numbers appear

also MC cant do shit, every single fight she will ever have will end with her in pain puking blood and... more>> someone saving her or her sacrificing something/someone to win <<less

Most of it is good, for all the reasons everyone else metnions. But I honestly feel like dropping at ch 228 bc the MC is letting herself get pushed arounf so much by realmspirit

Spoiler

I honestly feel like dropping this novel bc of realmspirit. He doesn't treat MC as another rational human being, much less a close friend. He's duped her many times, with the bra thing instead of a real size increase, with saying he'll tell the truth instead of just prevaricating again. And MC too, she keeps saying there is no point in pushing him but there completely is. If she refuses to work then realmspirit would have to force her and there friendship would be completely torn apart, and she wouldn't have to be so tied to him. It's so frustrating. Also, that memory erasal was a big no no with wang xuzhi, yet she didn't blame him at all. Uugh

at the very least she could force realmspirit to give her a better body/character to possess. She keeps complaining bout not knowing what type of circumstances she'll have in the next reincarnstion, but realmspirit definitely has the ability to tell her but she doesn't ask higihuuggfgfffgfgdhg FRUSTRATION

lmao, female lead disregards the feelings of our devil brother the reason why he keeps on blackening. She keeps on abandoning him and make him wait for him indefinitely and saying she will find him but utterly forget about him unless he shows himself.

i dropped it at this point since im in favor of the devil brother since he's so pitiful and I cant stand the treatment he's receiving from our FL (and the overall story gets boring then okay then boring and then okay again, I just get tired,... more>> still the biggest factor im dropping this was because of the fl's inconsiderateness to people who treasures her that are not the ml.) I feel bad for them.

but I am still giving it 5 star because of the awesome translation, and overall the story was good if you don't have anything good to do or read. <<less

Honestly I feel like this book is terrible, I got so tired of reading the same thing over and over again. To make matters worse she's foolishly naive, that you begin to grind your teeth. It was honestly one of those works that I can not just finish reading. I'll tell myself that I'll read it later, but I know that I'll never will. It's also annoying how she tries to justify the bugs, especially the first one (that guy was a real piece of crap) ... more>> She tries to make it look like their reason for being bad is plausible. All she has to use is brute force and stop their cultivation abilities, but being the s*upid MC that she is she decides to take the long road. Honestly, I feel so bad for her master that has to keep watching her die. Simply put the book is boring. <<less

I really like it, though I feel it's too long for me, but I managed to read it till the end. I really like the humor, it made me laugh in the middle of the night. The only downside, I sometimes got tired with the separations.

Decided to rate it 4 though I dropped the story at 352 chapter. First, I like how the author try the show the uniqueness of this novel, it was like the author was trying to put together all kind of different plots we can read in every novel. Second, I like the comedy it was not forced and the romance I find it cute. The only bad side I can say about the novel is, it was too long and all interaction in every arc it kind of redundancy which... more>> I find boring, but overall it's ok for those who just want to waste their time. But for those who don't and looking for something more thrilling I don't recommend this. <<less

It's freaking long! Btw, the story is divided into 12 arcs. I have a good impression of the story bec the last cultivation novel I've read was really refreshing. The first few arcs were enjoyable and I was looking forward to it. I also like the fact that her 'avatar' (physical body) after every reincarnation is diverse not just in race and specie but also in gender. Lol.

Overall I can recommend this novel. It's fun to read. It has comedic sense, slow burn to lowkey romance approaching a sweet phase.... more>> It also has serious side and can't deny, there were few characters that I cried to. HOWEVER, I do agree to some previous reviews about some arcs being boring. At some point you will think that it's becoming dragging to read. First few reincarnations and bug fixing were good and I also honestly think that the author could've cut it at that and proceed to ascending and a simple ending. BUT the novel approached more serious and world scale bug fixing. Sometimes the back story and the characters were not interesting. I think that there are some arcs that you can skip and it will not really affect your reading.

Some memorable characters for me would be (starting the main ones) Zhu Yao, Yu Yan, Zi Mo, Wang Xhuzi, Little Raddish, Yue Ying (🥺😭♥️), Little Eight!!!, Little Tyrant, Yu Jin my pitiful guy.

I don't really have complains about the main couples since they both went through development be it in their own personal stuff and in their relationship. But I ache for Yue Ying and Little Eight. I just... *sigh this will be a spoiler tho

Spoiler

After finding out that Yue Ying is actually Shao Bai, the pain just doubles you know? And no matter how Zhu Yao say that she can't forgive Yue Ying and that she's angry at him I JUST CAN'T feel the same. I ache for him. His childhood trauma and his unhealthy and obsessive coping mechanism (which is Zhu Yao) always pops up in my mind every time he tugs at her shirt/robe (?). He's just a child. No matter what and no matter the time and place, he never really got out of 'that' mentality and obsession. He also didn't really initiate to do so.

Also Little Eight! I cried you know??? At that scene where he was reincarnated and Zhu Yao cried while hugging him. Im glad he didn't lose his memories. Tho I also feel sad that his whereabouts were no longer mentioned at the ending. I do wanna know how he's doing with the Wood Spirit.

[collapse]

I wish there were side stories about the 'memorable' characters that I listed above. I kind of miss them honestly. <<less

I haven't read a lot of xianxia and cultivation stories but My Disciple Died Yet Again is one of the best stories I have ever read. I was a little bit hesitant to read it at first but I got hooked immediately and this plot is awesome. There are reasons why she kept dying and it's all for a good cause. The translation is really good and the translator has given references to some of the jokes or puns the MC says. The story is funny, I especially laugh at... more>> the beasties. There are also parts that makes you cry esp those parts with Shao Yi/Yue Ying, and there are a lot of lovable characters, esp master, Yu Luo and Yu Jin and little eight. I wish the story is longer and I would have liked to have some more side stories and want to see some more scenes of some characters, but the author has closed the story well, it was not rushed and eveything concluded happily in the end.

Please read this if you can. It has a great plot, great translations and good ending. Highly recommended. <<less

This is one of my favorite "gamer" novels. The description isn't really the best summary of this novel. It's more of a quick transmigration/The Gamer novel. The MC reincarnates/transmigrates into new avatars every arc in order to "debug"/fix the world. (Chande commented a spoiler that reveals what MC reincarnates to every arc, if you want to spoil yourself)

I can't exactly say it's comedic, but more like humorous. MC does things for a reason, so she can seem like a s*upid character but everything happens for a reason. Definitely say... more>> this is a satisfying story and ending for me! Romantic elements aren't as prominent, however it sated my romance desires enough. It's an adventurous story with hints of romance, but not overwhelming in your face. If you're not a fan of female MC with romance stories, this should be okay as long as you're okay with it appearing a little to develop the plot.

Some rants I have:

Spoiler

How is it that Yue Ying gets to live, and does not just combine himself with Wang Xushi (spelling?) ??

What's the ending for Yu Luo!!! Does she ever ascend to become a deity and find romance??

What about Sesame!!!!

I'm hoping when I read the story with Guoguo and Manager, MC gets to provide payback to Manager LOL

[collapse]

FYI, the author is pretty homophobic and dedicates a paragraph/chapter

to really explain why and how gayness is not "natural". Throughout the story, whenever MC interacts with a male and that male has a close relationship to another male, she always thinks there's something gay going on. But the MC/author doesn't really say these thoughts out loud or as detailed as in the chapter I mentioned. <<less

It's a good story, but it's has its ups and downs.

There are some points in the story that I really liked: the idea of the "game" and the "quest" that our MC has to face; the criticism of the typical xianxia stories; the mary sue effect (lately I read a lot of story with this kind of character which one cannot identify) ; the idea of changing the heavenly dao where the stronger prevails and where compassion does not exist.

The no so good things; there were two issues that I... more>> couldn't digest. Sesame "love" story & Yue Ying obssesion.

Spoiler

WTF with Sesame! He's being bullied by Zhu Yao, Yu Yan and his fiancé. He didn't want to marry that abusive girl but in the end our MC convices him that "this is love" are you nuts? What kind of message is this?

Yue Ying obsession is unbearable, I can't stand this character at all.

Overall it's a good story. <<less

I've now stumbled across a Xianxia WN that's unlike any other, which got me thinking about the brutal nature of typical face slapping Xianxia WN. Here's a Xianxia WN with a concept that feels more like a 'RogueLite' with completely randomized starting parameters, than your bog-standard Cultivation power fantasy. With a constantly reincarnating female MC who's antagonistic towards the generic tropes (i.e. Mary Sues & Gary Stus). And instead of going around killing bandits and crippling arrogant young masters, this rather naive MC is honestly trying to complete her goals... more>> via the "Pacifism" route, whilst inadvertently activating "Death Seeking" arts.

And around the halfway point, things become a hell of a lot more thrilling, due to how perfectly it depicts the butterfly effect. This novel is an amazing critique on most Xianxia novels, but as someone who enjoys a good power fantasy I could not enjoy it as much as the kind of novels it critiques. It can just be frustrating to constantly read about the MC being taken advantage of, tortured or just simply beaten up from the 1st volume right up until the end. <<less

To put it simply, this story is about the recurrent cycle of deaths and reincarnation of a certain disciple and the master’s undying devotion for his unlucky disciple. Following each death is the never ending comedic and entertaining events that made me LMFAO.

The FL disciple is blunt in most of her interactions and I really like the back-and-forth chatters between the FL and the ML master, who is apparently clueless on almost everything related to human interactions. The fact that the master is overly OP but still have a mortal... more>> weakness of 0 emotional intelligence is comedic, but it kinda cripples the romance progression. If you are not a fan of slow-burn, this is definitely not for you. It took a hundred-ish of chaps just to get a glimpse of romance between the leads ʘ‿ʘ But I guess it is understandable because this is more shonen-ish rather than shoujo-ish which explains why the romance is not the main selling point. At least, this is what I think.

Each reincarnation has their own backstory and new characters which creates a believable, in-depth narration. My only complaint is that there are too much characters. Like overly so. I’m really bad with names so sometimes I had to reread a couple chapters back to reorient myself. The author is super generous with world building (realmspirits), which follows every reincarnation cycle. However, it's a double edge sword because it kills the story pace and I'm a bit frustrated by it.

To summarize, if you are looking for a good fluff and comedy, this is one for you. There’s a bit of angst, drama and satisfying revenge plot. The characters are fleshed out, with amazing development zero-to-hero kinda thing. And HEA. <<less

One of the BEST.

In an era where every transmigrated MC into cultivation world is a mass mu*derer, here comes a MC and author with three views intact.

I just love MC and Ml

... more>> Side characters aren't just there for making up "cast" they have their own story.

I laughed hard with this story, sobbed with this story still reread many times.

When wang guy died, with MC I cried, when shaobai died I cried. His obsession with his MC as his sister is so tear jerking.

A must read. Author most stories are good. Indeed a rare gem. <<less

I always like OP MCs, the one who doesn’t die and stands above everyone. So I passed this novel several times. Way way back, I tried to read it once out of curiosity but I dropped it not long after, because of the slow development and thought MC was so lame not knowing how to cultivate (like I said I like OP MC who surpasses everyone).

But few days ago, I got bored and decided to give another chance. And hell yeah, I’m so happy I did. ? I turned on ‘speak... more>> screen’ and found myself laughing every now and then while listening. The POV of the characters are so entertaining.

Like all comments have said, I like how the characters criticized most Xianxia novel, like those generic Mary Sue female lead. While reading it, you don’t have to condemn the characters yourself, the MC will do it for you. Hahahaha ?

Give it a chance, even just 1 or 2 arcs and I’m sure you’ll love it too. Don’t just stop after reading few chapters like I did. Just saying, there’s a reason why a lot of readers love it. ? ✌️ <<less

This novel is great.

I experience rich changes of emotion here.

Unlike other novels I read where they make me feel constant feeling.

... more>> This novel here will make you laugh, make you sad, make you feel love, and of course make me feel pissed, pity and sympathy as well.

And she was the first protagonist I encountered that didn't kill in a world of cultivation. (I think Chen Qua- what ever bit*h is an exception though cause he is already dead).

And the ending is hilarious ??

Though it a pity it ended like that and I'm quite satisfied with the ending since lil bro is getting better and is suddenly became a father. Hahaha. <<less
