This book was meh. I didn't hate it - I mean I read it from beginning to end in 3 days. It wasn't anything new and I would definitely not re-read again.

The characters were too OP. The plot was really boring. The romance wasn't romantic. I sure as hell didn't eat any dog food. The reason behind the MC seeing ghosts was bland. There was no conflict. Everything just fell in the right place and while I can read those types of books without much complaints, this one didn't have... more>> any suspense.

But despite all the complaints, I still liked it. Maybe because some of the netizens insults in the book was epic. I especially liked "... is not without its advantages. I slept very well and cured my years of insomnia". Will definitely be using that one.

Should you read it? Well, if you like books with OP cast (the good characters), dumb villains, super handsome/pretty characters, bland plot, zero conflict; then read this book. If not, it's not worth the time. <<less

This novel really surprised me. I hadn't expected to actually like or enjoy it because the reviews are totally all over the place. But this novel was better than I expected. Was there flaws, yes, but for me it didn't detract from the overall feel of the novel.

Timeline was all over the place. There's so many side stories/characters that sometimes takes us away from the main plot and doesn't add anything to story at all.

The Yin Yang Eyes that allows you to see and communicate with ghosts. That could have been a huge focus point in this novel but the author only bought it up in chapter 139 and it was resolved in chapter 145. It wasn't foreshadowed or mentioned before. The author dropped the ball on this.

Those three factors didn't take away from the overall feel of this novel though. But it had more things I liked though.

The MC, Shen Huai is the silent but strong type of man. He quietly does his work and if you don't bother him or his artist he cool. But when you mess with them he will handle you swiftly. ML, Ye Cang, is a reborn famous rocker. Their relationship was good. They didn't step on each others toes, respected one another and there was no pressure from the ML to start a relationship. This is one of the good BL novels that had non toxic relationships. Another plus, for me at least, was the switch up of roles. Ye Cang as the weaker and more fragile character is the gong and Shen Huai, the manlier and richer is the shou.

Another thing I liked was the character Wang Can. I loved the fact that I expected to hate her and that she would be the typical villain. But the author switched it up on us once again. I ended up liking her.

There's more things that I liked about this novel but I'll leave some mystery for the future readers. <<less

A pretty good read. What I like the most about it is the way all the artist under MC's management have familial relationship and all of them soo hardworking with clear conscience. It just all of them so OP and then it got repetitive.

If you want a romance story, it's not the one. For the sake of the sides character, the main story got forgotten too much. I do wish to read more about Ye Cang.

Gosh. This got to be one of the best novels I've ever read. From the characters to the plot, everything makes sense. While reading this, I felt like I was watching my children grew up and achieve their dreams. There's just so much of character development that made me really admire the author.

This is not a MC-ML centered novel but it will never affect the quality because every character will just pull you towards their own story.

It's a good story but instead of calling it my artist is reborn it's more like my artist is possessing a fresh corpse. That would give the reader a better understanding of what the novel is about.

The ML is not the only "reborn" artist under the MC. I don't mind that, because the other artists are very interesting to read about. At least they seem to have a lot more depth to them than the ML who's basically just a rock star who got is globally recognized and died young.

What... more>> I took stars off for was how OP the MC and ALL his artists are. Just because they were stars 20, 50 or 100 years ago doesn't mean they are shocking now. Musical styles and acting styles and pop dancing styles have trends. Even if a piece is considered timeless, when it's being listened to or watched now it's still very obvious it's old and not modern. Go back even just ten years ago the music and art scene is different from the current one. It would have been nice to see the reborn artists adjust to the modern times and styles and creating their own blend rather than every scene from them evoking the image of so-and-so film King or Queen. Like to be honest, does the general public remember and would recognize the style from a late artist 50+ years ago?? It's just so unrealistic and OP that it got a bit annoying to read after awhile. <<less

After reading it I don't know what to feel I guess it's all right but not my cup of tea though I read the whole novel but there so many times that I just wanted to drop it. It was So frustrating it was like I am reading something but yet is not going anywhere most of all I couldn't connect with the story at all at some point it became simple read that I had to finish.

One of the best story I've read, it deserves the 5 star rate I give.

Everything about this is wholesome, the plot and world building is well written, and the characters has depth and alive (the MC and ML are adorable while all the other characters has their own uniqueness that you'll love).

I will definitely read this for the second time.

I can't explain it but it's really touching. Its the audience's reaction and little anecdotes that is really grounded and humble. People from all walks of life can relate and feel the sincerity the fans have for the artists. I think that's what makes it really enjoyable to read.

Other than that, this novel is plot-heavy but the romance part are really tasty. It's sprinkled in between, but it mainly focuses on the different on-goings. There's a lot of drama so if you enjoy showbiz-flavoured spice, this ones for you! I... more>> also really appreciate how focused it is on different areas of entertainment industry.

Every character is compelling - even the ones that seems to be easy going, once you begin thinking about who they are and their walks of life, you start to really appreciate how well thought out they are. I don't find any single one of them cannon fodders (*the artists I mean) none of them are simply there to make up space, and it's very enjoyable read!!

This story has a very interesting plot, a mix of supernatural and entertainment elements.

MC: a manager for an entertainment company

ML: a ghost that was once a top singer and is given another chance to sing again

Summary:

Honestly reminds me of Pokemon, the MC is a trainer catching all the rare Pokemons (top singers/models/actresses/actors/producers ghosts) and giving them another chance to display their talents to the world.

I honestly didn't think this was gonna be my cup of tea, mostly because I thought there were too many elements and that there was no way that they could all be peacefully incorporated. However, I saw the overwhelmingly high reviews and decided I might as well give it a try.

Character Breakdown:

MC Shen Huai (SH) : SH is introduced as a cold guy. He is extremely rational, almost to a fault and represses his feelings and trauma a lot which causes people to think he's indifferent and extremely cold hearted. However, we can actually find that he is actually extremely caring. He does tons of work behind the scenes to make sure his artists have the best resources and does so silently. He is extremely OP, he's a rich guy who could definitely just stop being an agent and go back home to inherit the family property. He's even called "Wealth God" in the financial circle, he doesn't lack power, looks, nor money.

ML Lu Yang/ Ye Cang (YC) : YC is the type of guy who seems carefree but actually puts a lot of thought into things. He can be extremely childish one moment but also mature the next. He's a super talented singer song writer, because he was originally a legendary rock singer and he continues to show his brilliance on stage by writing more songs.

Not an exceptional or overly special read, but overall very calming and warm-fuzzy novel. There are ghosts and reborn ghosts involved in this story, and the vibe is a little like "Natsume Book of Friends" (manga, for those who know). The story progresses with the MC (agent) meeting different ghosts and each of their side stories are well-linked into the overall story. The friendship and interactions between these characters are also very enjoyable and funny. The showbiz industry is also not overly dramatised to be very cruel etc and the... more>> portrayal of the fans is quite realistic. The story also builds on the "obsessions/regrets" of these ghosts, as well as the previous decline of the showbiz industry. The story then progress with how the characters try to improve the industry's situation.

The main focus was not on the main couple, although they were cute.

Overall, really like the calming warm aspect of this novel. It's just heart-warming and nice.

(However, the translation, especially the first half, wasn't very good. It's still readable and mostly understandable, BUT it just seemed as if it was MTL-ed and then edited to make it sound more English. You can tell that the translator didn't seem to understand some Chinese phrases. Weird things like "powder", which should have been "fans" will randomly appear in the translation, and situational description would randomly have a "I" where there were no first-person perspective in this novel. Second half was better though, and for the most parts the novel was still understandable. Thank you @ translators for the effort, but for picky readers, read at your own risk.) <<less

I wouldn't have commented on this story after watching so many good comments but I saw someone saying this story lacks direction.

At first I thought it too that where would this lead? MC picking up ghosts... Won't it be repetitive?

But it wasn't... All the ghosts have different charecter and there ressurection is kinda different and this story DOES lead to something though it shows around 145 chs... But I don't think people will get bored till that...

MC and ML are both busy they do their job and when they meet... more>> again... Well its really cute. And here MC is kinda OP. I mean people love OP ML so why not a OP MC?

And the story doesn't revolve around the couple, I like it but I don't think its everyone's cup of tea. <<less

I considered postponing reading this since both title and description do not give much detail about the tone and flow of the story. Moreover, there's too little diversity in the reviews section (lots of 5s and praising reviews) but I have nothing else to do so I decided to read this in one go. Overall rating: 3.7.

My expectations are high due to the good reviews; because of this so I was focused while reading. But if you take this for granted, you probably won't enjoy it as you will most... more>> likely see that the story is shallow and scattered, there's not much conflict happening since the characters seem like they are protected by mary sue and gary sue halos all the time, and plot elements are either repetitive or just pop out of nowhere to justify some possible plot holes. I also thought of this many times as I was reading, but I persevered because the thoughts and concepts mentioned in the story made me ponder on a lot of things in my life. I won't mention what they are since we all have different thinking process that leads to different conclusions and a lot of reviews focus on them, so just find those out when you read the story.

If I have to point out something in the story that's not to my taste, it would be the character diversity and build-up in the story. For a slice of life novel and considering the characters' statuses in the setting, I think they are too simple-minded, or maybe it's more appropriate to call them bland. I don't know if it's the lack of substantial details or the unvaried description of the characters' outer appearances, but I feel like they lack something that makes the characters worth remembering. I can't pinpoint what it is/they are, but I can say that in comparison to how appreciative I am to the ideas presented by the novel, I feel extremely dull and bored whenever I read that the the cold-faced MC has eyelashes so long that make the ML unconditionally and irrevocably stunned like some magic spell was casted on him.

It's widely acknowledged in stories that the entertainment industry is a a world where stepping on others and prioritizing personal interests are "normal." Having an MC that made aiding others in achieving what they want to pursue as both a personal goal and his salvation gives a strong contrast to this setting, which mainly differentiates his character from others, and the reason why he's the MC and focal point of the story. Otherwise, he would have been run down by the growth of the side characters by the end of the story, since his character development is too little in comparison to them.

Another point - I've only read the translated novel and I can't say I'm used to Chinese idioms and jargons so it would be extremely helpful to the readers if the translators can explain those slangs after the chapters. I'm sure I'm not the only one who had a hard time understanding a lot of things at the beginning and middle part of the story because of those. Still, kudos to you, translators!

Lastly, until the end, there's only one lingering question in my head - what happened to the Xue guy (Ye Cang's former assistant) after he decided to be a singer? It seems that there's no closure for him as one of Shen Huai's artists. Or did I understand it wrongly and Shen Huai never really became his agent?

Well, I hope you also see what makes this a worthwhile read afterwards if ever you decided on reading this. <<less

This gets an extra star for actually having really good female characters which is such a rarity in BLs. I love love all the female characters. Actual female characters in powers of positions who are actually people instead of stepping stones. There are stepping stone characters but really even some of them are really good characters too.

SUPER RECOMMEND!

I've skipped this novel for several times without giving it a chance, but now I regret not coming here faster.

Surprisingly the development of the story or the characters are really good. The fluff is on, yet the other side story is also interesting.

... more>> This is not a story only about our main pairing, but (maybe) more on how the ghost artists under Shen Huai lived their new lives and hiw they would develop from there on.

For now (ch130) there are still many mysteries to be unfold. Mainly 'why can Shen Huai saw ghost and every ghost he found could be brought back to live?' And 'will Shen Huai end up seeing other supranatural entities (the evil black ones) and what would happen to him?'

For now, i'll give it a solid 5 for the story and translations. And I'll comeback to review it after I finish reading. <<less

Im surprised that this novel only has 4.2 rating. It’s a very good story with a good character and story build up.

the plot is focused more on the growth of the characters and not on the romance. I could barely call this a romance novel to be frank. It’s there but the story doesn’t revolve around them. It gives it a little extra spice to the story. The MC has a very powerful background and while he obviously has the means to settle the antagonists in the story, he’s actually... more>> quite tolerant, however if they push his bottomline, he finishes them off quickly, neatly and with no chance to retaliate. He’s not overly cruel either. I find that he’s one of the most human and realistic MC I've read in a while.

while the first quarter of the story focuses on the ML’s path to stardom, the story doesn’t linger there since MC has a few other reborn artists he has stumbled upon and collected along the way.

Over all, I would give this story a 4.5, the rest of the point is for further growth of the story since I’ve yet to finish it.

PS: I would say that the story would be even more appealing if it would be edited. While the translation isn’t bad, it’s not exactly top notch either. I’m not dissing the translator because I’m sure he/she does the best he can, it’s just something to note.

one thing I hope the translator would change is the webpage though. The webpage doesnt have a next or previous button so you would have to open and close every chapter. Honestly, this could potentially harm the website because I can see a lot of readers going to other pirate websites just to read the story.

again, i’m grateful the translator translates this and would hope to continue translating this, theses are just constructive criticisms I've found along the way reading the story. <<less

I want to cry - ?. I read all the translated chapters in one go, then went on to read the rest of it on mtlr. It was so good! One of the best webnovel I've read. It has lots of nuances and a smooth flow. I can't believe I ready finish it. I want more. ?

I enjoyed this story.

I liked that even when we were introduced to new ghosts, we still saw the progress of the previous ghosts. I like that all the ghosts were good people; they avenged & fulfilled the wishes of their dead hosts.

However, a lot of things also made me sad. A lot of these great artists inexplicably died. I felt really sorry for the MC who witnessed death time & time again. I felt it was a really cruel & burdensome fate for him.

I liked that MC also had a... more>> human not ghost artist with him.

At some points in the story, there would be way too much happening because the MC was also supporting so many ghosts. I kinda wish the story stopped at 2/3 ghosts.

Tbh I strongly dislike this form of writing that includes a lot of Internet slang & netizen barrages. Even if you skip over them, you can still follow the story, so I consider that to be the greatest weakness of the story. Still an ok read. <<less
