We got a FL that experienced no love from her family as she grew up except from her brother. When she was in highschool she wasnt able to attend their fieldtrip due to being sick, her classmates (all of them) died in the village because they offended a ghost or something. After that, everyone becomes wary of her and avoid her, saying that she brings bad luck to all those people near her and ended uo being dead. During her college days, her roommates insisted to play pen fairy, in... more>> which she tried stopping them but they still did it on another room and they ended up dead. The rumours of her killing everyone near her spread out, and that's when the story started and she entered the first game

The FL is too calm, the authoer reasoned it with the fact that she's experienced so many tragedy in her life that the horror game doesnt scare her that much.

And with the God liking her, her golden finger shones more brightlt in this story.

I like the games she entered but I skip game 7 cuz the chapters are too long hehe.

Spoiler

she has a cute ghosts besude her, a cute loli 2cm tall, a hanged ghost (that looks lang a baby keychain), a cute small dragon... (basically the 3 of them are small because when she goesout she takes them so they need disguises

[collapse]

The climax of the story are the best

Spoiler

the 8th game really made me cry because she was able to regain the emotions she thoughtshe lost, and she accepted the God's pursuit

[collapse]

In the last chapter

Spoiler

FINALLY, she and the God has snu snu for the first time, of course the author didnt make detailed one

Rated it 4 stars because I think that she should've been more sweet to God <<less

I was excited to see a romance/horror survival game novel with a female protagonist, instead of BL. So I read ahead a bit in the RAWs. Unfortunately, it's only mediocre. The BL in this genre have both better romance and better horror atmosphere.

It's annoying how the ML only seems to like the MC because of her pretty face. Also, the story arcs are very short (nearly but not quite 10 chapters each). Since the arcs are so short and the ML plays a different role in each arc, I don't... more>> have the time to grow fond of him. On top of that, the ML appears as a young boy in the first arc. Being a shota in the first arc just isn't my cup of tea.

As for the horror and mystery parts, they also suffer from the short arcs. But more unfortunately, a lot of people die "off-screen" when separated from the MC. Only a few of these people are given names; instead they are only recognized as "a female player" or "a male player". There is no real tension around what is going to happen next.

An upside to all this is you can translate this decently through Google translate. The third arc which I've just started on seems slightly better than the first two. Or rather, I like the concept of the third arc:

Spoiler

There are big brother-style cameras everywhere, even in private bathrooms. People are only allowed to cover the cameras for a short while, or investigators will appear. The players have to solve a serial mu*der case, made to look like accidents when on camera.

Since I feel the story is mediocre, I'm rating it three stars. <<less

I MTL'd the story.

Whilst initially the story was engaging and I was very excited to read it, the further it progressed the more I realised that it wasn't what I had envisioned it to be. The romance was beyond a slow-burn; more like the author didn't know how to write human attraction and only added it to the last 10 or so chapters of the story just to wrap it up. The character herself was also lacking in personality. I love smart, strong and quick-witted protagonists but MC was simply... more>> just cold and calm the entire storyline, there was no fluctuations in her feelings. It made the story stale and boring when nothing surprised her, scared her, made her angry etc. Her most notable emotion for ML was distrust, disdain and impatience. Whilst ML pined for her, lovesick, doting. It wasn't romantic. It just felt incredibly one-sided. You could call it a HE but I'm just disappointed.

I just think all in all, if you want a romantic horror this isn't it.

imo this should barely scr*pe by in the romance category.

If you want to read a horror romance that's similar to this, I'd suggest Kaleidoscope of Death. THAT story will be a clear example of spectacular romantic build-up and the arcs will make you want to binge. <<less

There are bad points and good points to this story.

Good points:

  • MC is beautiful and it gets mentions pretty much every chapter, multiple times. If you're the type of person that likes reading about beautiful protagonists, here's one.
  • The story arcs are interesting, if a bit cliché and simple. You can sort of guess how the story is going to go mid-way through the instance.
  • The ML is always watching; it's an interesting twist where the ML is a constant presence in the instances taking on different characters.
Bad points:

  • The MC is really shallow and 2 dimensional. She's a pretty girl who's always calm and collected, never really experiencing strong emotions. It's like every other character reacts in some way except her. It's a little boring to read about.
  • The ML is pretty typical. He's jealous, wants to protect her but also seems to want to keep her isolated. No one friendly or interested in MC seems to live long. It's no wonder that MC is so lonely that she's kinda glad ML keeps her company. She treats him with annoyance and distust but she mentions how he makes things 'livelier' (because she has no friends!)
  • The other annoying thing about MC and ML is how
    Spoiler

ML kills MC's friend, Tang Jiu, in the instances. MC already considers Tang Jiu her friend and Tang Jiu can be considered her partner with how well she treats MC and how much she tries to help her throughout the game. She's actually a very endearing character and ML kills her (though she didn't actually die because she saved herself last minute but she was considered dead for a while). BRO. If someone is interested in me and they kill basically the only friend I've made, I will never get together with them. This is also one of the big reasons I think ML tries to isolate MC.

    [collapse]
The ML is honestly not different from any other possessive love interest and he's honestly the same as MC's past 'suitors'. The only difference is is that he has more power.

I read this article because it's a (n) UF novel and it may be my cup of tea.

I thought it would only be a light read for me.

But when I reached the end...

... more>> I teared up.

I can only say that, THE BEST BOYFRIEND AWARDS GOES TO LU ZIZE!!

I cried.

You see, because since Gu Yian, our main character was child, she was always misunderstood as someone ominous and being unlucky to be with.

Even her own mother never tried to understand her. Hell! What more her other relatives.

Even when she's a child, her only brother always bullied and teased her.

I, for myself, would feel grieved if I experienced those things. I wouldn't even want to hear a thing about those. What more, encountering it like everyday at everyone's talk, every time they see you.

Imagine, because of your boyfriend's effort, you suddenly found closure to those incidents. I can't just help but cry at that scene.

Think about it, he was a high up God. And she was only an ant in a God's POV.

But look what he did for her. Look at it.

I'm just crying here. Don't mind me. [with snot all over my face]

The thing about this article is that, the emotional part of the novel, all accumulated throughout the story and it only bursted out at the end.

It's one of the things I like about it. It's like a surprise. And I like surprises.

Though, I think that they could have made this more better. I personally need;

    • Closure to her family.
    • Understanding how did Lu Zize became God.
    • More scenes of the black text's speechlessness to God's love brain. [snickering]
    • The ghosts, we need a through understanding about their existence.
    • Her other teammates from the other games.
    • The others worlds. [crying sound, badly need this]
    • Why they were chosen by the games? Was it just because they're gonna die soon?
Like, I want all the details! Pronto!!

But it's good novel. Definitely recommended.

Bye, AnAn!

Always look out for your boyfriend's mischief there and then! [sneakily whispering, suddenly shivering] <<less

I binge read this novel in two days. The mystery, puzzles and horror aspects were really interesting and felt very fresh after a long term binge of transmigration, face slapping romance novels.

Having said that, this story does has its fair share of issues. Other than the fun of the mystery, I often felt that this novel fell a little short. Interesting and thought provoking concepts introduced during games are only half developed (such as the world where there's 24 hour surveillance. There's a lot of different ways to explore the... more>> morality, practicality and utilization of this system but the author hardly scratches the surface). The characterization and romance was superficial and hardly explained (i.e. We never really understand why ML likes FL so much, FL rejects ML throughout the story but suddenly does a 180 in the last chapters, etc.) And a lot of action happens off screen or is wrapped up too quickly (as of the author suddenly thought 'Yeah I don't wanna write about this anymore. Next arc!').

Despite its weaknesses, I still really enjoyed this novel. It reminded me of several similar style survival animes such as Dangan Ronpa and Mirai Nikki. If anyone knows of any other similar novels (which aren't BL) please let me know!! <<less

Damn, only 19 chapters in and I'm totally sold. Easily became my favorite read thus so far this 2021. Love the calm and reliable MC, never disappoints. As for the plot, it's thrilling, can't help but want to read what will happen next.

An easy 10/10 for me, definitely would recommend.

Great! Though the summary implies she doesn't do anything, she actually is pretty clever and takes action, which is why the boss loves her. She's so calm all the time when everyone else is freaking out, it's awesome.

Less romance than you'd expect. Mainly she's solving crimes and once in a while he'll be like "Hey girl" and she'll completely ignore him. 🤣

A better title for this would be The Devil is Stalking Me, What to do With s*xual Assault on the Way!!!

Spoiler

The MC is supposed to be smart but only because everyone else is so dumb including veterans who you'd think were used to thinking outside the box but not here. I read 'I'm a little white flower in an escape game' before this and the world building, mysteries, ability of the players was much more detailed. That MC actually learns from others without seeming or being useless. This novel makes me feel like all the other characters could disappear and MC would still be able to 'solve' cases with random guesses. We never see her work out what's happening in these worlds in her mind or physically. Everything she can think of, a five year old can reason out to.

I also don't like the devil ML who's clearly evil but is somehow going to win FL love even though she's afraid to even call this demon out. Not to mention I don't like non-human with human relationships because they usually involve power imbalances or disgusting fetishes.

[collapse]

Then why did I read? Because I thought the boss in the title was an experienced awesome player that decided to carry FML hopefully with some cool mysteries and character development but nope. <<less

Try it. You will like it. Slow romance on MC's part. ML fell for her on the first arc. ML is really a black bellied person and likes to pit others. In MC's eyes, he's a liar but kind and innocent. Both tried to adapt to their identities in the last chapters.

The novel wasn't in-depth, I think it was for casual reading. The arcs are different. I like the ideas but some weren't my cup of tea.

I don't know why the ratings are so high, this story could be good to pass on time, but personally I don't think it's good, it has too much plot holes, I didn't feel like it was worth it to continue reading

Spoiler

It made my brain ache honestly and the ML was supposed to be a god but acted so immature, I didn't really understand the character at all, the MC wasn't bad but she didn't act like a person that just went trough a sick game of survival, almost like she didn't react emotionally, there were some parts where she only says "of course it's scary I'm only a normal person" but there's not a single clue more than that, that she's actually scared

5 star for my enjoyment. I binged this for 3 or 4 days. But the ML...

Spoiler

In my brain he is a neuropathy. Like, I can't erase my psychological shadow of him from the 3rd game.

Lu Zize (god) in the 3rd game is just too much for me. Imagine, he is a psycho who planned people around you to die from the get go. And your to-be-friend's dead also arranged by him.

From start, he looks harmless and helps out everyone. I'm already SUS of him, but I don't expect the reveal... Maybe if this is different novel, he will be that last boss that is really hard to be killed/can't be killed.

If I'm MC, I really can't bring myself to like that neuropathy. My psychological shadow still lasted until the end. In the lasted chapters, Lu Zize learned to be more human to be with MC. He studied human's habits from his underling, the hanged ghost.

He is sweet to MC, but damn it I can't erase my memory of himself in 3rd game. I think the best arcs of this novel are 3rd game and 8th game (last game).

[collapse]

Aside from my rants of ML, I really like the game's concept. It's interesting, and like the comments in yumemiru, I think this novel will really good to be animated. Especially the 6th game. The concept is like mario bros. It will be interesting to see them jumping and pass the traps.

My thoughts about each game/arc:

1st game

Spoiler

The 1st game is the most normal I think, because this is the introductory chapters. We follow MC who is still unfamiliar with the god's game. And get the general idea of god's game. There are more than one path to clear the game.

[collapse]

2nd game

Spoiler

More interesting than 1st game. The concept is: A died in first night, B died in second night, etc. Her teammates in this round is also good. But unfortunately, the author doesn't delve into them.

[collapse]

3rd game

Spoiler

The game that gives me psychological shadow of the god.

[collapse]

4th game

Spoiler

The game takes place in MC's real world. This will explain her roommates's deaths. I still remember the theme is: MALICE.

[collapse]

5th game

Spoiler

In the ghost world. ML is a ghost king in this game. Everyone must die.

[collapse]

6th game

Spoiler

Fun arc. Maybe because I like game, I'm fond of this arc that resembles Mario Bros. This concept is really good to be adopted in animation.

[collapse]

7th game

Spoiler

I think this is the arc that has the most ghosts. The ghosts are literally everywhere in the room. If MC doesn't have ML, maybe she already died twice in this arc. Who made God love her? There are ghosts in TV, bed, door, bathroom, etc. And this arc also has the most players.

[collapse]

8th game

Spoiler

Also takes place in MC's real world. The longest arc. We also read about a player named Xiaocheng. I actually quite curious about her future.

[collapse]

I want to read about other players.

Spoiler

In 2nd game, I want to read more about the merchant, witch, and the student. Even though the student will appear again in 6th game, it makes me more curious about him. In 4th game, I want to read about that novice female player who swings knife around. In 7th game, I want to read more about the novice male player who is lucky and dumb. Xiaocheng, brother Wei, and the smart female player in 8th game also good.

[collapse]

All in all, this novel has unique game concept. But the romance.. like many comments said, it's not really good.

Spoiler

I'm even confused why MC accepted ML's confession in chapter 82. I'm like: "Whyy MC, aren't you uncomfortable around him?!" And before she accepted, there is no descriptions about her psychological struggle accepting a god as a boyfriend. There is just 'don't know if the atmosphere is so good that it makes people unable to refuse his words.' in the novel. I want to read her mental struggles when she accepted ML! (╥﹏╥)

[collapse]

But in the end, ML changed for the better (I hope). He even pitted himself to go work lol. Literally working, like ordinary human.

Summary:

✅ Recommended for:

  • The mystery and its game concepts.
  • Calm protagonist, her emotions rarely fluctuated.
  • Funny underlings.
  • A bit comedy.
  • Clingy god (ML).
❌ Not recommended for:

  • Those who really wanted to read romance development.
  • Detailed side characters. After the arc, other characters will be mentioned once or forgotten.
  • Those who wanted to read thrilling escape game. MC really played safe, because GOD LIKES HER.

The ML is evil, from the start after the first game, you could already tell. The FL is a gambler, like her card, relying half on skills and half on her luck.

Spoiler

Someone said that the FL is just so-so and randomly guessed, but what do you expect the FL to do when information is limited and they have to piece clues together? Guessing and connecting clues together is a way to solve a mystery. I don't even get how someone could get hated by that. As for the ML, he's pure evil and only good to the FL, heck I don't even know if the FL's lucky for being protected by him or unlucky cause he's a psycho. I don't blame him for dragging her into the game, because if he didn't do that, she would've died anyway because of the Spirit Pen incident. In conclusion, I felt conflicted on how to like this ML, he's evil for playing other people's lives, but them playing the God's game, is a price to pay for extending their lives isn't it? The game gave them opportunity to lengthen their lifespan, but it depends on them whether they could obtain the reward of life extension. But the thing is, this is a romance and he did like the FL for 'pleasing' him because she's smart and quick witted. Really hard to decide.

I read the currently available 36 translated chapters and was hooked. Finished reading all 87 chapters using Google translate and I would say it's 90% understandable.

There's 8 games in total and game 4 and 8 takes place in her world. Game 3 was a little hard to follow the logic but the other ones were fine. ML was cute in his pursuit. I don't know why some people felt she fell for him too quickly when there's been lots of hints all along.

I thought it was going to be one... more>> of those books where the whole transmigration would be a gimmick that serves no purpose in the story but the author tied it in at the end. One point that bothers me is why her body is failing. It's not explained (unless it's lost in translation) but I can make some guesses.

Only gets a four since it could have used a little more emotion. Alas, no lovey dovey moments for the readers. <<less
