I really like the ML in this novel, he's cute, hard working, and really just makes you want to spoil him!! However the MC is a bit excessive. His past family was definitely scum, but the way he acted just left a bad taste. It felt like he went overboard in how he acted. I understand and appreciate revenge in novels like this, but this MC felt like he stooped down to their levels in some ways, making him feel kinda scummy and petty.

The plot is also kinda slow moving... more>> and standard for the trope. <<less

This novel is briliant. The plot thickens every time a conflict appears, mostly caused by MC's parent's and sibling's entitlement. MC is always ahead of his ex-family's evil plot. I love that the MC's and ML's personality is consistent while showing some personal growth. Every conflict has purpose which keeps the plot going while ending each conflict with genius solutions.

He bought his sister through s*avery contract to free her from her parents and brothers

He gathered relevant people to make his status rise

Ending seems a little rushed though

A gong MC. A story where there's 3 genders in ancient china, with a modern youngman being transmigrated that tried to live with his own instinct to protect his husband, (husband's) parents and children.

The only thing I dont understand is the title. It implies, the subject for this story is the ugly husband, right? And after reading it, the ugly husband is the ML (shou). However, ML parts in this story is not as many as MC, 80% of it is written with MC's pov. That title only works... more>> out in the first part, the second part there's nothing to fit 'The only faourite Ugly Husband title, since the story doesnt involve him anymore.

The first few early chapters were making me angry and my hands were cold. Because there's just too much cruelty the original takes. When MC were dealing with the original parents I couldnt help but shaken with anger and loathsome for those scums of blood relatives.

Now, what makes this story a charm?

1. This story doesnt deal with scholar, the fight to top of scholar and stepping into capital and mucking around into kingdom intrique.

2. MC instead steps into the sea merchant road, and bringing his only skill from the modern world, that is a soldier to build an empire of escort.

Why sea merchant? His village is surrounded by river, and the main transport there is boat.

3. ML is timid at first, but then ML teaches him, and slowly he stands and can help managing the company when MC is away. At first, ML doesnt has self confidence, people say he is ugly as a ger. Yes, as a ger he is not beautiful, he is too manly, tall, strong. But in MC's eyes, ML is exactly his type, coz MC is gay and his type isnot the feminine man. Slowly, ML never doubts himself and his man love anymore. 4. MC doesnt move and go to live in the capital like all the same theme novel. They still go home to their village, and only move to nearby county town.

5. MC is not your OP character. For example, he wants to build everything from modern world, but his knowledge is limited, since he's only a soldier. He wants to advance the medical industry, but he only knows first aid kid technique. So he only does things that he knows from his background as soldier.

6. MC really a family man. And this is the first I read a male MC (gong) that marry to his wife family, and names his children with his wife surname.

Some things are lacked detail and overrated but all in all, it's a nice story. <<less

this was a good read. You can consider the story as the establishment of an empire and struggles you go through to do so. There’s not so much fluff (in case you’re looking for a lot of it) I appreciated the last four chapters a bit more than some of the chapters prior. But ultimately this was good.

It was nice story

At the beginning I was annoyed because it too slow pace... but it gradually picked up... the growth of the ML... the insecurity of MC...

However for me their relationship wasn't extra or romantic... it was just marriage and s*x... the MC was full of insecurities... they both had no communication so... the MC thought was only that he needs to stick to the ML so that the ML doesn't leave him... the ML didn't know anything about the MC insecurities... he just thought the MC was jealous... more>> and like to stick to him...

However aside from their relationship the MC was a strong person he improved in many areas... he would he helped the ML... even if others look down on him for his 'masculine look' he would never broke down in front of others...

In the end many ended up admiring him especially the people under the ML... <<less

Well in this story people had a certain aesthetic when it comes to beauty. Our MC is beautiful for our ML eyes but for others its not due to being Ger that is not on the norm. Anyways ML did his best to pursue the MC and make ways to have a livelihood.

Yeah the story kinda bland, some small angst in there, some small fight but it gets resolved after no long misunderstangs (thanks for that). A novel of a couple life and having a better living. They're kinda shookt... more>> MC pregnancy labor kinda fast hahhaa well our MC is strong too though he can be timid/awkward sometimes but there's our ML to pamper him. <<less

Love Love it!!

Jiang Zhen (MC) is a gong (it's kinda rare in Chinese novel so I stated it xD). As for why Zhao Jinge (ML) is said to be ugly, he is just manly (or in ABO world it can be said as manly omega) which deviates from beauty standard at that time.

Neither Jiang Zhen nor Zhao Jinge is overly powerful. It can be said as couple growth (mostly Zhao Jinge). Jiang Zhen came from modern time (also an ex-soldier) and that's his golden finger. His money making is a... more>> little bit too fast, but hey, he has a cheat. I cannot say much here because anything else is spoiler.

There are some aspects in Jiang Zhen's businesses that was not told in detail (it's the later business 'tho). It doesn't impact overall story but I'm kinda curious.

The wine. The club in Fucheng. The growth of Jiang Chen's escort business. The rebels (the small businesses, not the man behind) that popped up suddenly. The sea voyage (I really want to read this arc!).

By the way, it can be because it's a little confusing to read the mtl version (except for the sea voyage) so I missed the details.

This book, though it has a slow build in the romance department is really well written and enjoyable... It's difficult to find such a nice relationship build from the ground up!And on the side you get some nice (but not stressful) drama and action scenes.

This book was awesomeness in written form. I had to MTL the rest of it which I never do. I just loved the growth of the characters through out the book. If you are looking for something fluffy and funny with a hint of face slapping, you are in the right place!!

I don’t know why everyone considers it different from a typical transmigration novel. We have a bad ass top and a white flower bottom. So nothing new there. The plot is so so...

translations are superb though. Just not my cup of a tea story and it progresses in a snail speed...

CUTEST BOOK EVERY!!! LIKE 1000% RECOMMENDED!

The book is situated in a world where men, women and Gers exist. The MC is a man and the ML is ger, but the ML is not a normal ger, he is called "ugly" because he looks like man and despise being a ger, he is stronger then most men his time. I personally love this book because the ger, is not like other gers I have read about and he is too innocent, cute and unique. I hated this so much, I went and read it with an open mind, but I was left disappointed and disgusted.

... more>> I let the MC's tendency to be a racist at some point in the chapter, the start was good but it became so shitty and ridiculous.

I hate what happened with Shen Anxin, I hated it so much that I left a comment when I am actually a silent reader lol

So disappointed what happened to him when it WASN'T NECESSARY at all. <<less

This story was very engaging from start to finish. At moments the plot went a little fast, but personally I felt that stopped me from getting bored.
I especially loved the relationship between the MC and ML, their relationship was very loving and they both grew to become equals which I appreciated!

Some might find this boring bcuz of the long chapters, but trust me, the plot is interesting though word-building is limited. I love the main couple so much. MC is true to himself, and his thoughts and actions are alike what a human would be. ML is the weak to strong type, and he is the kind I like: shy, cute, talented, willing to work. The author is brilliant in portraying the way ancient people thought. 4.5/5 for me.

Well, can't say its bad, since the development of the story started like a small tide as the story progress it gets bigger without stopping that it made me anxious till the end. Overall, cant blame the MC to think like that when era was unjust and he has a family to protect. Only wish for a better life for his new found family.

The extras were perfect addition that I had to give this one more star.

This novel almost completely satisfied me, I'll give it 4/5

Jiang Zhen is exactly the kind of character I love. He's straightforward, will never wrong himself, and most importantly, he's a showoff lol.

I didn't really like Zhao Jinge at first, as I thought he would be the typical meek shou who won't do anything other than adore his gong and receive affection. However, he turns out to be someone who recognizes his weakness and is willing to make an effort to improve himself and catch up to his husband.

The characters are... more>> pretty well fleshed out, especially in the earlier chapter. Later on in the story there's a ton of time skips and summarized plot narrations, I like it that way because I'll get tired and bored of the novel. I also don't find it necessary to know every little thing that's going on.

There are a lot of things to be picked on in this novel, but it really is fun to read. There would be conflicts every once in a while, which would always push the main characters forward, yet the plot isn't all over the place. <<less

This is good. Though reading the first chap may make you feel like "same routine" but later on the book has so many ups and down which is thrilling and really good because they not only deal with farming but also be pulled in politics and also grab little brothers along the way to follow them. The story gets better as the story gets formed along the way with many foes and friends.

Loved loved loved this story. The main character is a Gong which is not as common in registration stories. He's not all knowing and has his flaws but his love for his partner is genuine and he was a great father. Plenty of stuff that they did together and the side pairings were varied and cool. Awesome read.

The novel is good, it's like a typical transmigration novel however it leaves a good taste in your mouth. The MC is smart and knows his limits to getting what he wants. His goals are not far fetched and in fact is centered around the situation at that time and can be considered baby steps and down to earth. When he's at his lowest he only wants to live a normal life where he can get by with enough income. When he saw the love of his life he wants... more>> to earn the right to be with his love by making his in laws like him. He does have ambitions but he's not overally arrogant without reasons as well.

When I finished the last chapter I felt a strange sense of fulfilment that is a mix of not being ready to part but at the same time letting it go knowing that something can survive in their own.

the ending when they found each other again in the jiang zhen's og world made my heart melt so hard and it felt so sour similar to grief that I got worried for myself for a second. Jinge were to committed and devoted that he was prepared to be single in his new life. And I felt so bad for him when we was thrown into the new world. Aaaaaaaa they got to live another life together with each other.
