This is definitely not any sort of amazing web novel however I still rate it 5 for a few reasons:

    • No racism, no nationalism. That was such a breath of fresh air! Everyone from any country can be good or bad, indifferently from their nationality. As proof, this is a Japanese novel but China is probably described as the country with the nicest people.
    • It is not taking itself seriously. There is a story, there is a lot happening but there is always this little comical undertone all along. For once, the author nailed how the tone of the story should be.
    • Compensate all the 1 ratings, since in the end I liked the story a lot. If rating subjectively I would rate 5 by enjoyment level but objectively it probably deserves a bit less.

It's quite mediocre. The main character has literally no character or personality. He has no goal, no motivations, no likes or dislikes, and his only fault is that he's not very smart. However, that doesn't really matter because everybody in this story is some degree of unintelligent.

100 chapters in and the only things we know about the MC are:

Spoiler
  • He doesn't want a lot of attention, so he usually doesn't claim any of his achievements.
  • If someone in a position of power or authority tells him to do something, he'll comply, even if that person is just a grunt or if it is extremely disadvantageous to him.
  • He has no emotions. He has no redactions to finding out large numbers of people die.
  • If there's someone he knows in trouble he'll only swoop in to help them once they're injured and almost dead so they can appreciate his healing and combat powers to the fullest.
  • Even though he doesn't show any signs about caring about other people, he spends all his free time doing charity work.
[collapse]

The story is in 1st person most of the time, and it's told in a 'After the days of killing monsters, I maxed out my class' kind of storytelling. He just tells us about things he did and the results. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that over 20% of the story contents are just the displaying of his stats and how they've changed. This is especially true in the earlier chapters.

I don't see why so many people like this story. It's super white bread. I would never recommend this story to anyone.

At least the translation quality is good. <<less

There was some irksome parts in the beginning when the Japanese government found the MC and the higher up acting illogically which almost cost them their own people's safety, that part made me cringe. Like, possibly antagonizing the one who might help you a lot is one of the dumbest decision a politician can make. Thankfully it's getting better after that, the author getting a hang of how to do it better later.

The story itself is kind of unique in a way the author tried to really used the whole... more>> world as a stage. Usually in this kind of story the MC only resolves things in their vicinity, but on this series the MC is actively trying to travel the world to pitch helps to for everyone. He met a lot of people along the way and getting comrades the more he travels.

There are a lot supporting characters later, from the countries which the MC have travelled to and they gradually formed a kind of alliance to fight the monsters with the MC as the leader. There's not much of villain on the human side in this series, up to date there's only one human villain. They mostly deals with the monsters/invaders, though on the later chapters it's starting to get more complicated since sentient invaders started to crop up.

The MC is OP up until the middle part of the story and then the enemies are also gradually getting stronger so the MC have to be more careful and learning how to fight better. The supporting characters are also strong, they can kill most of the common enemies, but they're hopeless against the big boss of each region. Though some of them might be getting stronger too with MC's help.

TLDR: some wobble in the beginning but getting better afterwards, if you liked OP MC and real world setting with apocalyptic fantasy monsters, this is quite entertaining. <<less

There are a few things that automatically knock down my rating of any story. Blatant insults towards soldiers doing their damnedest to protect civilians regardless of country origin is one of them. The nationalism is a bit of a turn-off when they're basically saying the people sacrificing their own lives for others are useless just because they're not from the same country.

Spoiler

chapter 16:

Those US Armed Forces are useless. I also heard that Yokosuka was wiped out as well.

[collapse]

Granted, a few lines later they're saying that those same allied forces are still trying to fight, but at that point it's just insulting. You've just said that soldiers from another country are fighting and dying for your own country and their sacrifices are worthless. It's like the author is trying to appeal to Japanese egoism while also trying to appease foreigners with "Oh dear. The outsider soldiers are getting thrashed, but they're trying their best the poor idiots. Tee-hee."

The only reason I haven't outright dropped the story is because the author so far hasn't immediately vilified foreigners/US soldiers into thugs/warlords, or cowards who run from a fight rather than do their duty to protect civilians so far. We'll have to see how it progresses though.

Other than that, a decent quick-read so far. The first 15 chapters are pretty much updating an ever-expanding stat list that is easy for your eyes to start glazing over from, but it's easy enough to just skip the infodump sections and the story tends to cover any interesting updates/changes to the list.

Overall, would suggest as either a wait-and-binge read or something of a brain-bleach when other stories get too heavy or complicated. Straight insult to honorable soldiers knocked my rating from a four to a three but the story so far is still decent. <<less

Welp, let me tell you... this story goes a lot further than I thought it would, in a good way.

The OP MC feels a bit like Saitama from OnePunch but with people around the world reacting like the s*upid scared sheep they would actually be. The way that the story wraps up the loose ends really feels gratifying, though how it ends leaves you wanting the story to continue. I hope there is a continuation one day, it's a fairly good story.

Translation: 8/10 A fairly decent translation overall, it... more>> could you a bit of editing to improve word flow and word choice.

Writing: 7/10 The writing isn't the best, the execution of some events and fights could have been more detailed but it was good enough to get the major points across.

Story: 8/10 The story itself really picks up in a grand way after the initial power gathering portion. The whole thing stably ramps up as things escalate to stages where you think this should be the limit and then it takes a step further like a good ole Dragon Ball Z arc.

Overall: 7.8 A decent read which gets better after the initial power-up arc. <<less

I call this one: "I Became Pitiful After I Threw My Whole Evening Reading a Real-Lousy Novel." It should really be about 2.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 3 because I've read worse.

I love OP protagonists, but, uh, he's really OP. Like, practically God Tier before the main story line even starts. That wouldn't necessarily be bad, super OP has been done well before (like Onepunchman), but in this case it just makes things pointless. The only real "challenge" the MC seems to face is that he can't... more>> be everywhere at once. But he also doesn't seem to care about that (he learns that Tokyo has been completely destroyed and is just like, "oh.") I mean, he's not evil or anything, but the way he is written seems to lack emotion.

Because everything is written in first person, it is a bit confusing when the POV switches. It also doesn't help that I know next to nothing about the main character. The intro was just him playing the Gacha game over and over in between a vaguely discussed part time job, so we know nothing really about his past, his appearance, his relationships, (even his name until chapter 28. If it was mentioned earlier I didn't notice). I don't feel invested in the MC at all.

There are no spoilers in this review because there is nothing to spoil. "Super powerful dude fights things and wins." That's it. That's the whole story. It's basically a snoozefest, read it if you're really freaking bored. <<less

It's weird.

I've never read something so strange and pointless.

MC has no life, family, friends or even aquantences. In addition he is brainless and lacking ambition.

... more>> World building can be described as sloppy at best.

In the first 15 chapters nothing was happening except for descriptions of how MC is working part-time and throwing all his salary into Gacha. And I mean absolutely nothing. We don't even know if he has a family or something happened to it etc.

If you expect to see an interesting level-up journey here than I will have to disappoint you. MC is simply brainless, so nothing interesting here. MC can't even earn money with several superpowers, all he can is lift weights while working part-time.

It's hard to find a reason to read this novel. <<less

A junk food-type web novel.

Do you want a story with depth, character development, and great characters?

Unfortunately, this isn't the novel for that. Look elsewhere.

If however you're into power fantasies and want to see an MC dominate everything then good for you this is it.

I don't normally mind when novels have plot holes or are poorly written, but this protagonist lacks common sense to a degree that's genuinely absurd. I don't mind OP protagonists or OP systems at all, but watching someone succeed because their system is so ridiculously broken while not even using 1/10th of 1% of the potential of it is pathetic.

Spoiler

I have only read a few chapters so far but it's already ridiculous. He can literally stop time and see the future but he spends a month working as a hard laborer to earn cash? It was be ridiculously easy to rob a bank, or go to a casino, or win the lottery. He could stop time, teleport into a bank vault, take as much as he needs, and teleport out. He could put all his cash on roulette on the result that he foresees. There are so many ridiculously easy ways to earn money with his powers but he chooses to use strength increase to do hard labor. I'm astounded at the lack of creativity. Why not make the powers of the gacha system a little more slight so that there was even a shred of conflict involved? He might have to do something remotely clever or utilize at least one of his powers in a way that wasn't completely obvious.

My translator bro asked me to leave a review to up the popularity of this story and Imma help him out because this story is impeccable.

I’m a very picky reader, after years of reading I’ve reached the point where I only bother to read stories that are gems. I know, sounds arrogant but I’m confident in my taste.

This story is a banger. The MC is hella OP but the story understands that and doesn’t try to make conflict where there shouldn’t be. He’s fcking OP and there isn’t any of... more>> the “I should hide my powers” bs. The MC is just a reasonable, likable dude. He’s not insanely smart, but he has what so many MC’s lack: common sense. Like genuine common sense. I’m not reading this because of how OP the MC is, I’m reading this because he’s a character that feels real. Oh and so do the other people around him. There aren’t people that are unreasonably good or bad. Just people with common sense and the natural fear that we as people have.

All in all, if you don’t come into this expecting a super deep story, you’ll love this. It’s a tad similar to One Punch Man, but the MC has a bit more common sense. <<less

This is a amazing novel. I was sceptical at first since the plot felt like I read it dozens of times in other novels.

However that is soo not the case. The plot felt so fresh once I started reading it, and the battles are fun to read too.

It also has realistic reactions to the hero prowess from other people, so I didn't get fed up with everyone worshiping him or hating him with no reason at all (seen it all too much in other novel).

In short I recommend to give... more>> it a try, cause it's fantastic ! <<less

Basically an extremely overpowered guy....

But we know this from the start.... what we don't know is just how overpowered.

There is no real character development. (at least as of chapter 51)

Spoiler

Just someone with a lot of extremely over powered 'cheats'.

Going around killing things and getting skills for no apparent reason...

I mean really.. how do you logic getting skill in forging or knowledge of alchemy by going around killing monsters...

[collapse]

As to the comment someone made about a negative remark about US soldiers.... that was made by one very minor character who (if I recall) was making it about both the US and the Japanese SDF. The MC never said it.... nor was he even there at the time. I kinda put it in the same category as those Chinese 'Young Masters' who are constantly going around shouting 'You are courting death'.

HOWEVER!! There is ONE good thing (as of chapter 51) there was no harem!!

But that's not really enough for me to finish it.... my suggestion is: Only read this if you are willing to turn off your brain... maybe the author will improve more over time and start adding some depth to his characters... <<less

I'll edit this review after more chapters get translated, but for now the first chapter deserves a 5* from me for successively hooking me in!

Seems like we already have someone spamming 1* reviews on this... There's only 4 people other than me who could've reviewed this atm: the translator, the editor, storm the one hosting the Inoveltranslation website and a reader who commented before me. Out of these, I suspect someone who lurks on novel updates ready to vote 1* reviews. Though there could be the possibility of that person... more>> actually reading the first chapter I doubt that. OP MC, mindless power creep, power system that makes no sense, support cast that doesn't matter at all in the end, MC personality is around gama (passive, no ambition, no interest on opposite s*x, s*upid, easy to bully, etc).

Overall a terrible story, but that can be fun when you want to read a quick tr*sh novel with a OP character.

everything before that is basically the MC finding a gatcha, discovering it does give him abilities, and then spending every yen he can on that gatcha, (and using his new abilities to earn more so he can pull more)

I realised that the very second I picked up the novel, it'll be one of those that plays by the cliches and does them right. Earth gets introduced to magic and monsters, global hysteria and death ensues while the protagonist builds up strength through grinding. Only to hit countless "walls" that eventually crumble into nothingness, making the already OP protagonist into something truly broken. Quite the standard description that, yeah? Well, they add just enough to keep you engaged through the arcs, the overall length of the novel is short... more>> so it is pretty binge worthy (I only realised this after I read 130 chapters ish in one go). This novel is like an unsalted cracker. If you have nothing else to eat it will sustain you, but will not be satisfying at all.

First of all, I feel bad for the T/L for having to pump out just pages of abilities and levels. I salute you poor person, whoever you are.

Second, and this is just a personal gripe, I hate novels where the MC is constantly schemed against but everything is fine because he's so OP. He doesn't even know he's being schemed against but it doesn't matter because... more>> he's pretty much a god by the beginning of the story. Seeing such denseness is like physical torture.

Third, the MC just has zero personality. None. I feel like I'm reading a newspaper article about abilities and poor financial management whenever we see his perspective. He's just.... so dull. Never has plans of his own. Never takes the initiative to interact with other people. Just monster-hunting.

Spoiler

Tokyo is taken over by monsters and he's too busy hunting on his own to notice. "So that's how it was huh... I had no idea on how the situation in Japan was progressing. I guess the Self-Defense Forces and the refugees probably knew about it, but since I was massacring monsters I didn't have the time to ask them." -Chapter 28 He didn't have time? He can literally control space and time. With the amount of power he's been given by chapter 15 Japan should never have come to as much harm as it has. Half the country fell because he was too busy experimenting with his new abilities. This isn't denseness like most JP novels, it's either straight up callousness or the MC has some kind of mental condition. I'm honestly shocked at this novel's rating

[collapse]

Ugh and all the conflict is so artificial.

Spoiler

The JP defense forces that just watched the MC destroy a bunch of zombie dragons that they couldn't even scratch immediately turn hostile to the MC because of his overwhelming power? That can destroy them in a literal instant? Is every other character besides the MC a brain dead foil canon fodder?

[collapse]

Translation quality is decent and the writing has no glaring flaws, but it also has no great redeeming qualities either.

I want to rate this higher. I started out at a 3 but now I can barely rate this a 2. Meh concept. Absolutely horrendous execution. <<less

No matte what you say, I will still like it!

The story is fast-paced so you won't get bored. Unlike other stories that just continue rattling on to increase the chapter count, here it won't.

Straight to the point. Fast ball.

... more>> Furthermore, I like our MC.

Faced with the dark side of humanity, he did not falter.

He continued to fight no matter what anyone said.

He did not despair and accepted their words. He's just, what you would call, a very kind and rational person.

Plus the translation is very well done! I'm enjoying the story very much uwu

P.S. I shed a tear or two seeing the MC love the world. Too precious 💗 <<less
