I really enjoyed the novel! The summary definitely needs to be fixed, but I really liked the characters. Plus for once the MC confesses his identity to the ML quite quickly which I like. Also, this definitely is fantasy/ sci fi which was quite awesome, ... more>>
The war against the orcs - Even before the start of the series, the ML was defending the nation against the orcs. The MC had a major role in using his knowledge of ghosts to help the ML in warfare. The most ridiculous part of this conflict is that we don't even know who the orcs are, much less their reasons for fighting with the ML. The background of the orc race is never explained. Nor was there ever a proper resolution. Nor did the orc leaders ever make an appearance.
The scheme behind MC and ML's engagement - It was implied early on in the novel that there was some tampering with the MC's matchmaking. The MC's original intended match does appear in the novel (he turned out to be a minor 1D villain) but the schemer is never found. We never learn the purpose behind the tampering. The author basically over complicated the engagement, leading the whole matter to a dead end. The author should've just omitted the entire scheme and just kept things simple as just a lucky match.
The MC's family - It's basically a lot of face-slapping with the 1D villainous family members. Sure, face-slapping is satisfying to watch, but it's also very off-putting for family conflicts to resolve in such an impersonal way. There's just no emotions or any self-reflections that would provide a proper conclusion. I would've at least like to see the MC and his father have a proper talk. Instead, his father gets stripped of his status, his wife becomes mentally ill, his other son gets imprisoned, and they all just disappear.
