slow-paced slice of life feel. It's not the best I'd admit, but it was good. The author. Put in a lot of trope, from transmigration, time travel, system, mary-sue transmigrator, hidden space, etc. Kinda too much I'd say, but this is what makes this story memorable for me lol.

Anyway, it's not a bad read but still worth the read.

Uh. The daily life okay to read up until they went to the capital. Author can't figure out how to end the story so she threw everything in a boiling pot, a system, interstellar gibberish, cultivation, dragon gibberish, the mary sue was foreshadowed but never used. A whole mess, we never even met the ML's famili because by ch 60 smth, the Author just wanted to end the story and glossed over everything.

Author wanted to give everyone a happy ending at the speed of light. A meets B, A likes... more>> B for some reason, they married. <<less

I really don't get how the rating for this novel is only 3.9 because it's actually a really nice light read and pretty well written? I mean yeah sure, the author did kind of just dump everything, like every single plot, they could think of into one novel, but it didn't ruin the story at all.

Moreover, the MC was someone who had died in an apocalyptic world and had gotten a second chance in life (Twice! MC transmigrated, died, and was reborn again without his memories. The story revolves around... more>> his third life), an MC who was tortured and couldn't live his life properly to the end. So I think it's fair for him to just relax and live like an average person now. Anyway, there is even a literal slice of life tag and the title is literally retirement life. So I'm not sure what the other readers who gave this a bad review thought of. Maybe the description doesn't really match the story but I don't think it really matters? As long as the story is good then it's fine.

UPDATE: Changed the previous 5 stars into 4 (It's actually a 3.5 for me). Totally shouldn't have written the review when I was only halfway through.

The ending did not make any sense at all?? Oh God knows how fast I needed to skim through the last few chapters because everything was just so confusing to me. What happened to MC's father?? The doctor?? What would happen if Zero One recognized MC as his master? WHERE DID THE DRAGON IN HIS SPACE COME FROM AND WHAT'S UP WITH THE SUDDEN CULTIVATION. Why was it tossed into the near ending and just brushed off like that. Oh gOd :) this is not fine at all. I just slapped myself in the face. <<less

This novel is interesting to say the least.

First off, why I took off the stars:

first, I was honestly disappointed by the translation. It was fine in the begining then it suddenly had spelling mistakes, grammatical mistakes and the sentences did not flow together. I honestly thought I was wondering reading MTL which this was not. These are actual translators who know the language and have been translating for years. This was a surprise to me.

Sceond, SO MUCH potential but the author just destroyed it. This novel is one info dump... more>> after another. They cramped in every single trope you can think of with every single genre. Transmigration, rebirth, zombie apocalypse, amnesia, gers, systems e, secret space. And unfortunately it's not being done in a satisfactory way. The readers are left confused with no explanation.

Another thing that irritated me, the villain is there are a show piece. They would appear in one chapter, speak no words and then disappear for the next few chapters. What are they doing there other than to anger the MC with their face ? There's no satisfying face slapping.

Plus points, it's a cute story, the relationship of MC and ML is pretty cute. The family relationships are pretty cute too. <<less

Starts off pretty slow, didn’t really hook me and I got bored of reading so I dropped it. Not sure when it will start to pick up, but judging by the other reviews it’s not the kind of novel I was hoping for and seems pretty messy.

While it is true that towards the end, the novel became a mishmash of sorts and I had to exclaim WTF!! Too, I would still rate it with 5 because overall I truly enjoyed reading this.

And the beginning of his relationship with ML was really cute.

However, the plot holes and utter ridiculousness near the ending would warrant lower ratings to other people.

If you want to read about a wholesome family relationship then this is for you. Unfortunately, you'd need to overlook the plotholes to truly enjoy it.

The author did try to explain what's happening but it just wasn't enough to answer all questions regarding the characters. <<less

To be honest, by reading the description, I expected a pretty much laid back story also considering the kinda little chapters.

Didn't expect to be face slapped with unexpected origins, plot twist and heart-wrenching past and sacrifices.

Really amazing short read, and really love it. Though I want to have a close ending to the main couple, but overall it's an exciting and dog food eating happy ending that I fell in love with, specially the ending for Second brother Lin and Prince JinYuan hehe.

Summary:

Lin Mo died during the zombie apocalypse and transmigrated into the body of a weak ger in ancient China. After suffering during the end of the world, Lin Mo strives to live a retirement lifestyle in his new life.

The beginning of the story is very well done. Lin Mo doesn't immediately adapt to his new body and new family members. He suffers from trauma, being adverse to physical touch, and insomnia. It takes some time for Lin Mo to gradually warm up to his new family, but then the author mashes in weird elements to the story.

    • Lin Mo has a special space with a spiritual spring like in those cultivation novels.
    • The eldest brother of the family has been reborn. He knows about Lin Mo's real identity and what will happen in the future.
    • The Prime Minister's daughter is a Mary-Sue transmigrater that aspires to create a harem of men.
    • The Emperor's lover is a system that was programmed by Lin Mo's original father from the apocalypse to find and help Lin Mo.

This is one of the strangest mix of genres I have ever read and the ending doesn't really explain anything. Naturally the MC and ML get together fairly early on in the novel and they are super fluffy and sweet together. But the Prime Minister's daughter, the system, and Lin Mo's family in the apocalypse were skimmed over too quickly.

There was barely any information about the Prime Minister's daughter. In the end, she was arrested along with the Prime Minister due to a rebellion. After being suddenly arrested, there is nothing. Absolutely nothing else. Like ??? Much confused about what the point of her character was. The system showed up near the end of the novel and I don't really understand what the system was supposed to do. Was the system suppose to bring Lin Mo back to his original world? I have no idea and it was not explained. As for Lin Mo's original family in the apocalypse, all I got was that his eldest brother turned into some zombie king and was killed by ability holders while his father used his life to program the system? Not too sure, but the system gained sentience and can turn into a human.

Overall:

I don't really know what I read, but the fluff between the MC and ML was good enough for a 4 stars. As long as you don't think too much about the plot and just read for the fluff, it should be fine, probably. <<less

A slice of life novel with a cheat space, a favorite genre of mine, that was ruined for me because the novel felt boring, I guess.

Reading the first few chapters, I cant help but think how convenient everything was. I can’t tell you why though, because even though I stopped reading just yesterday for a break, I can barely remember anything. Its not memorable at all.

The author doesn’t like providing any details besides ‘he did this’ and ‘they did that’. It was like an outline of what the novel is.

Thanks... more>> for the translation though. I do hope my criticisms doesn’t negatively effect your translation. A lot of people seems to like it, its #4 right now under Yaoi. <<less

I pretty much read mtl this days and decided to read a translated novel.

Personally, I really enjoy, for those who have been tired from work or life, this is a good book to relax, it's laid back and just enjoying a peaceful. The elements included is creative I think, they made the mix of diff. Genre just fine, and I'm not into too much dog blood right now, so it was just fine.

Over all its good, if you read well, its easy to understand unless you're not reading it properly,... more>> or just intentionally finding faults.

I mtled the succeeding chapters, Its readable, but I still have to thank Exiled Rebels for their translations, and for me to discover this work.

It was super cute and entertaining during the first half. I'd argue it's still entertaining towards the end but it was just SO CONFUSING. There's so many plots that popped out of nowhere!

It confused tf out of me, so I practically skimmed, starting from when they went to the capital.

I also expected babies but there's none in the main story aside from Lin Mo's niece and nephew.

I want to give more stars to the novel. For me, all the genres in this novel are well explained and the story is good.

the system, and the soul explanation all are necessary in this novel and it is for our pitiful MC. The story is also relaxing, with no complex war, and no misunderstandings, it is real retirement life.

I liked it. Not a masterpiece, but worth to read. Extra 4 wasn't really neaded as it was already explained in the main story and just left the story with a little more of a sad not. The extras wasn't as satisfying to read bc they didn't really touch the more curious topics, but I guess that was to let them have an open ending.

It has a happy ending.

This story has a lot of background action, but not so much of foreground action.

As the story is only 70+4 chapters and exiled rebels has done a good job with translating the story, I would recommend the story.

I like the story a lot

Is confusing at times because of the PlOt mixes interstellar, rebirth, transmigration trope. And so many characters have mysterious backgrounds that I just dont get the implication of from the author when reading the chapter

A fantastic work of fluff. I know the reviews don't seem great, but if you go into this novel knowing that's is more of a slice-of-life story in a slightly omega-verse historical setting, then you will really enjoy it. Fluff and cuteness - don't expect a huge showdown - enjoy the sweet family-centric story for what it is <3

So this story wasn't the best but it was pretty decent. I'm not the kind of person who likes to read stuff that's too long very often because most of the time it looks dragged out. I feel like the ending was a little unsatisfying but it's a good short read.

It's really fast paced so I don't recommend skimming through it at any point.
