As a holy knight, I had been taken as a prisoner of war during an engagement against the vampires. “Oh my, granting you death? You wish! Accept my embrace and turn into a vampire. I will be counting on you in the future~ my precious daughter.” The silver haired, vampress loli queen lifted my chin gently, and with a smile of ridicule, aimed her sharp fangs towards my neck.

If you've read the synopsis, looked at the tags, and decided to take a shower before you leave this page to remove any potential diseases you might have attracted while here, I beg you to listen. Yes, at face value, the premise sounds s*upid, and it is s*upid. HOWEVER, you should really give this a try. I agree, this sounds absolutely dumb, but usually, the value of a story lies no in the setting but in its telling and its characters. Give this a try, at least maybe 10 or... more>> more chapters. You might find it a lot better than you thought it was. In my case at least, it turned out a lot better than I thought. <<less

I'm digging this novel, some nice setting of humanity being the weaker ones and a MC on a journey to learn to love himself and understand that not everything is black or white.

I'll be reviewing this story since I have read ahead of the currently updated chapters and want to refute some issues that people have that are explained in chapters that have not been translated yet. To begin, it's currently a slice of life kinda vibe right now (as one reviewer stated) ; however, that is not how it will be panning out I can promise you that.
Spoiler

Its a rough world that the author has created (like humans are going die 24/7).

[collapse]
Also his mentality also is explained as well, even though he is a knight and acting like a kid if that is a put off for you as well. I'd definitely read this story and wait for the updates to slowly come out because of its got potential. This review was mostly to refute some of the reviews that I know personally are explained. (Also this story has dry humor and its definitely not comedy)

After getting up to date with the current chapters in less than an hour, I have one complaint. These chapters are too short!

The spoilers are what has already happened in the story, but are the only content of my review.

Spoiler

I love this storyline so far, and although there may be some strange inconsistencies, I am super excited for what this story seems to be building up for later in the series when he gets revealed as a vampire girl himself.

I love the part where he is openly racist towards vampires because it will only make the reveal so much better once his transformation becomes undone. I was really tempted to read MTL, but I couldn't make sense of it since I'm low IQ so I'll wait for translations instead.

Thank you for the translations so far, I hope you continue as far as you can! <<less

Im up to date with the tl, and I have to say.. Its okay, im entertained. The narrative needs some work but it has potential. I like to know more about the monster side and when itll be relavant again. Personally I want more gb scenes with the MC, so far hes been using his male shapeshift most of the time. It has some goofy scenes about modern references and can be quite confusing what really the setting is. Translation is good, im glad someone picked it up.

First of all, English is not my first language, so expect grammatical errors along with some awkward sentences. Secondly, this is going to be a rant, and I am still on chapter 19, which is still quite early in comparison with the total number of chapter from the raw, so I don't even know if some of the things I will bring up will be addressed later in the story. Please, be aware of this.

Now with this out of the way, it's time to give my completely honest opinion: I... more>> feel like I've lost braincells after reading these 19 chapters. As for the reasons... Well, this is going to be LONG and verbose:

  1. Spoiler
    • The title. As mentioned by another reviewer, the title of this novel, at least in NU, is quite misleading. Or at least that's how I felt it was. Actually, I would say that the title is not wrong per se. 'After Taken as a Prisoner of War, the Vampire Queen Turned Me Into a Vampire and Made Me Her Daughter' could be counted as a title, as it explains SOME of the premise behind the main plot and coupled with the summary given by NU, it manages to paint a vague picture of the story without revealing much. However, so far into the story, I feel lied to. Both the title and summary ONLY really apply to the prologue and a bit of the first chapter. The following chapters don't really have anything to do with the vampire queen nor the fact that the MC is her daughter at all, and the prisoner of war part does affect the MC on a personal level, but that is not what I was looking for when I decided to read the novel, as I expected a slice of life-esque/comedy novel in the vampire queen's castle from the title. This whole section could have been avoided if the title was simply one of its associated names: 'The Blood Princess And The Knight'. Or if the actual plot had decided to stick to what the title was advertising, instead of timeskipping the MC's stay at the castle to start writing about his/her adventures in the human world once again.
    • You didn't read wrong, the MC is a he/she. This is not a traditional gender-bender story where the MC changes gender and stays like that for the rest of the story. Instead, it is used as some sort of magical ability (plot device) the MC has, to add fanservice/unnecessary filler. Take for instance the ONE and single use it has had in 19 chapters, to lure a guy into a back alley using the excuse of wanting to take a photo with him. I mean, it's not anything wrong (?), but a bit disturbing to say the least, especially that whole paragraph describing how the guy was being mesmerized by a loli. Another thing to consider is the fact that the point of having your MC gender-bender is to explore the character dynamics of a gender-bent character, which seems to have been completely skipped, as the MC spends 95% of the time in one gender. With the whole process of adapting to a new gender being skipped in the timeskip, there's really not a reason as to why this story is even about gender-bender.
    • "Cliché" chinese webnovel antagonists. I don't have anything against face-slapping novels, it's just that this novel in specific fails to even make these scenes satisfying. As always, their IQ is room temperature and have egos as big as an entire universe (including the ever-growing part). There is also the thing about "face" and "seniority" stuff which baffles me, as there is no logical reasoning behind the attitude these antagonists have (not even flawed individuals are this s*upid). Just to show an example of this: the MC (a knight who should be dead) stumbles upon four knights abusing their power on a regular citizen. The MC (who should be acting low-key) fights with them and utterly demolishes them, then, their master appears, and the knights instantly return to being haughty again and start acting like peanut gallery. Completely sure of his victory, the master duels the MC, only to also get destroyed. Thorough this whole fight, nobody seems to have thought of asking for reinforcements, even though the master was struggling to even hit the MC. Nobody seems capable of analizing the situation and the MC's strength and plan accordingly. All they have in their heads is bs moral reasoning and their pride. What is even more astonishing is that after the fight, the master stands still without doing anything due to the impact of losing, which the MC takes advantage of to run away (remember he's still trying to keep his existence a secret).
    • The MC. No amount of 'he's a flawed character, so he doesn't need to be likable' will make me change this statement: the MC is a hypocritical, moronic douchebag. (Coupled with those knights from earlier, it seems like knights don't have to pass intellect exams, just raw strength is enough, what could go wrong?) The MC is disgustingly naïve about society, to the point of questioning why he can't find a job when he's going to interviews in casual clothing and speaking as if he was not the one being employed, but rather the employer. Not to mention he doesn't have papers, no passport, no identity card, nothing to even prove his citizenship. Another infuriating trait of this MC is his/her double standards and surface level moral. He/she has believed his/her whole life the creed to kill all demons, so why is he/she saving a demon who has somehow fled into the city? Because she is a cute and pitiful loli catgirl, what an act of bravery, not at all contradicting himself! (sarcasm) But then, he decides it is OBVIOUSLY a good idea to leave an innocent citizen (the guy he assaulted in the back alley after luring him there), unconscious, with the disguise he used to oppose the knights (equivalent of police) in a back alley. What could go wrong?! Maybe he gets kidnapped, robbed or accused of something he didn't do, possibly ruining his entire life?? But then in the next scene, he cannot possibly abandon the catgirl alone in that back alley, who would be so heartless!
    • Plotholes? Starting from the beginning, where does he live? (I'm starting to get tired of writing he/she, so now it will be he to refer to the MC) The setting is in modern day, judged by the presence of fridges and cars, so without papers, how does he own a house? Is he squatting? (Not a very knightly behavior, however he shows multiple times that in his heart: money>morals, so it might not be a farfetched idea) How does he pay the bills? Iirc, in the real world, they are paid through the bank, but he lost all his bank cards when he was taken as a prisoner of war. (why did he bring his bank cards to the battlefield? Dunno) Why do the people in the hospital where he goes to buy blood not suspect anything about a young man weekly buying a few liters of blood. (I would at least be concerned about where does all that blood go) And so on...

Great concept and reasonable execution to start with. The main criticism against the series that I've seen from others is the genre. It's a harem novel with lolis. I'm not deducting marks for genre though. My gripe with this series is later in the series past chapter 100. The protagonist starts making so many s*upid decisions. If not for that, I would rate this a 4/5.

I also wanna point out that this series wasted it's potential. When the protagonist has a secret, they're supposed to have a confidant. The author... more>> is supposed to select various people to expose the secret to so they can discuss the secret from different angles. Think Spiderman, his wife Maryjane knows his secret and she plays the emotional release. Kurt Conners also knows, and he helps peter try and deal with his powers from a scientific standpoint. Various other heroes know, and they play the role of the teammate. And a few villains like the Green Goblin knows, even if unintentionally. Before chapter 100, my main problem with the series is that the author hasn't thought through anything. He's got a good concept, but was too lazy to figure out that his logic for various scenes are just bad. There are also various plots which are ruined because they're based on coincidence. Hypothetical example:"Imagine losing a counter-strike tournament because your mouse decides to fail at just the wrong time." No one wants a plot like that. There's also a continuing problem with underexplained mechanics. Minor spoiler warning. Like I get that vampires pass on their power by turning other species into vampires, but is that the only way that vampires breed? Or is it just the royal family that does that. And are they limited to that method in that case? And if they do breed normally, can they also pass on their powers to their birthed descendants? This is a very important mechanic and it's extremely vague in description. The events below all happen after chapter 100, so the series is still quite readable.

Spoiler

So the protagonist has to drink blood every 3-5 days, and by this point in the story, he has a supply, he's established an excuse for having some despite his room mate. He KNOWS that avoiding it will cause far more harm than good. So yes, the protagonist put off his blood until his craving started hitting him, but that's not the real problem. There was another person in the room when this happened and he was still trying to be nice about not kicking her out. If it was me, I'd have shoved her onto the floor and made a b-line for the blood. No, he tries to be nice and ends up drinking her when his urge finally overwhelms him almost killing her and almost revealing his secret identity in the process. Every element of this plot line was poorly conceived.

So the protagonist is supposed to be a knight that's the height of virtue and so on right? Yet he's so stubborn about keeping his secrets that even when his team mates are dying around him, he still refuses to use his OP powers to save them. No he waits until every one of them is either unconscious from exhaustion or suspected dead before he uses them.

The story is incredibly inconsistent with the power of the protagonist. At the start of the series, he can stop a blade with his fingers and dodge it with a slight twist of his head. He's established to be badass powerful. He fights a group of trolls in a mall and one-shots them pretty much. But now after chapter 100, suddenly the protagonist can't fight a troll 2 on 1. The 2 is the protagonist working together with a friendly, but also powerful troll. This was a boss troll admittedly, but the buildup just wasn't there. It was pathetic.

To me it started off pretty badly written. A one year timeskip from the prologue to the 1st chapter, yet SOOOO much has happened in that one year, it's impossible for all those changes to have taken place in the span of just a year. There are other things like the strange world this is set in where you have swords and magic, and yet modern technology like the internet and ecommerce that don't blend well together.

The first arc or two were pretty rough and not too well written, yet... more>> I couldn't put it down, and once you got past all the initial issues and learned to ignore it, the story started going properly and it became really good. Perhaps if this is published as a proper novel the editors will clean up and polish the early chapters properly.

Overall this novel is very good. I don't usually enjoy chinese novels, yet this one is good. The MC is genuinely interesting, and there is plenty of humour as well as what seems to be an underlying plot that is gradually building up. The most important is of course seeing how MC comes to accept her new body and station - hilarity and all. <<less

I'm not sure what to think about this one yet. The MC has a habit of running headfirst into fights before thinking things through and figuring out what the other two characters are fighting about. He's a cute loli in his vampire form and in his human form he uses his OG appearance. That's great and all but I thought he was a famous knight? Does no one recognize him? And even if you say that he always wore his silver aromour and that's how people remember him, I thought... more>> he was in his hometown? Where are all his friends? The moon alliance is interesting. The MC acts as an idiot some more in it but I like the idea. I just hope it gets better as I read on. <<less

It's not the most original story out there, and it tends to be a bit heavy on the tropes at times, but it's good fun, and it has a plethora of well written characters who all makes it a worthwhile read.

I don't understand this story at all, even though I've read it.

If there are any wrong words, I apologize, but this is what I read from this novel.

1. The character turns into a full woman, and she disguises herself as a man with her powers, but when there is a time where her power runs out, she should return to being a woman and not a man, for some reason the author remains persistent towards male characters.

2. Characteristics of the main character, at the beginning his character is cheerful like... more>> a girl even though he has disguised himself as a boy, until he enters as a member, but gradually changes 180 degrees, becomes quiet and cool, which completely deviates from the beginning of the first story., even this main character is no longer the main character.

3. The introduction of skills that are not explained or forgotten to be explained, and the introduction of races, and also the state of the country / world is not explained, the naming of characters is less diverse.

4. The story is too pushy for 1 vs 1, and other supporting characters are not included in the section and become bland.

5. The fault of this story, which should have been the main event, but instead was forced to continue for a bloody show, and all the characters in this story, there is no strong pressure at all in the story.

I really enjoyed this story. Yes, you could say it was a slow start, but it was a good foundation. I pretty much picked this book up and didn't put it down until I read up to the current translation. The translation is top notch, with next to no errors.

The main character's struggles with his vampire form were hilarious to read at times. They do not manifest often, maybe every few dozen chapters, but they are hilarious to read. As other people mentioned, it is a bit odd the author... more>> skipped the first year of the story, but I think it's because the author is less focused on the gender bender aspect and more focused on comedy and the story, although in the end there is a good balance of both. The main character is more of a badass, so it makes the moments when he goes loli vampire mode all the more hilarious. Overall, I look forward to more chapters! The story is pretty good, although in the later chapters slightly hard to follow. Either way, this is a story that I can surely say was worth my time. <<less

I'm just here to rant.

The story had a good start. Yeah, pretty good early chapters but then it gets horrible as I continue to read due to its obvious plot holes, unreasonable events, and the protagonist him/herself.
Spoiler

The plot hole that I want to poke: Where the fck did those sorts of modern weapons go? Wow, they're able to invent phones but no advanced firearms in the frontlines? This modern + fantasy+ ancient world is not very well mixed up together and the author is not shooting any explanation either as far as I read. Why are the knights only using swords when there can be guns that are very effective at long range fight? The choice of weapons in this world doesn't make any sense and has no explanation whatsoever.

There's also this Asiatic cat called Ke-er who is getting a lot of unreasonable attention. Who is she? She's just a runaway captive with no special background, no notable ability or deed aside from the fact that she is labeled as a cute loli. She got into a human city (without inside help) where there is a barrier that is hard to bypass unless deactivated. Wut?

The people within the moon organization be like: Oh my god she's so cute alright let's shower her with more attention and let her stay with the protagonist because she can only be comfortable with him. Wuut??

I bet she only existed for the sake of moe-_-

And finally! The JUSTICE screaming yet hypocrite protagonist. He is your typical hero who likes to help the weak. Nothing's wrong with that. He is quite a 'promising character'...... in the first few chapters. After some events here and there I got fed up with his actions of shoving his ideologies to other people's throats while occasionally breaking them in the end. I'm not looking for a perfect character and characters without flaws are boring, but this kind of protagonist is meh... Maybe he is in the process of his character development being a knight and a vampire. Unfortunately, it came to the point where it gets annoying.

Protagonist sometimes becomes an airhead at the right time for the plot's attempt to pull out a funny situation. It has a comedy tag so that's expected. But please, overdoing it will turn out as complete idiocy rather than humor.

[collapse]
I had a great expectation from this story and the plot is interesting. Sadly, I'm getting disappointed the more I read. I will still give this one another go though, maybe it'll get better in the later chapters. <<less
