Level headed modern day otaku MC x Powerful tribal chief ML. At least I hope the chief is the ML coz 100 chapters later you get only an elusive whiff of romance which on one hand is totally fine coz the writer immerse you with the daily struggles of clan building, throws in a dash of gore, drowns you with cute and earnest side characters and food, and fills your mind with this possible Utopia for those cute tribal people.

On the other hand, where's my yaoi?

But seriously, Translator picked up... more>> a gem. It's still an ongoing novel, and I can't wait for more. <<less

I personally like 'transmigration to primitive era' novels very much. And I might be heavily influenced by "Banished to Another World" while writing this review because BAW was the novel that made me fall in love with this genre. That being said, let me start with a synopsis.

SYNOPSIS

MC (Yang Yi) dies, meets the God of Time Travel, receives a mission and gets transmigrated to a primitive era to improve the living conditions of one million people.

... more>> There is very little focus on romance.

PROS

1. MC shows that he is different from the very start.
Spoiler

He literally meets the people there wearing masks, modern camouflage clothes and so on. He also doesn't hide that he is from another world to ML from the beginning.

[collapse]

2. MC has a 'golden finger' but he is not OP. He values people around him very much. He doesn't act all high and mighty just because of his 'golden finger'.

3. Reason for transmigration is also explained properly.

4. The story is very lively and positive. The people of the tribe are very lovely and hardworking.

5. ML is not the cliche type. Finally.

6. MC himself doesn't get involved in many things. He just guides people at first and then lets them learn by themselves through trial and error.

CONS

1. Extremely Rushed: In just 132 chapters, MC managed to save more than 1 million people. To accommodate all this, writing is really rushed.

2. No Details: It just says that something is done, but not how it was done. Also, none of the characters are described of their personality. There is no character development. Every character feels like an extra. Even ML's presence is barely there. Also, I personally don't like it when appearance of characters are not explained properly. For example, MC is described as beautiful and weak looking. ML is described as very strong looking. Only one person's appearance is described in a detailed manner because he is extremely bad-looking. Anyways, many details are just brushed off.

3. No Proper Exploration of the Plot: The world MC transmigrates to has people with special abilities. Sadly, this fact is not exploited enough. In fact, ML is said to be the strongest warrior in the whole world. He also has a cool ability. But this is not explored deeply at all. We only know that ML has an ability but he never uses it. Apart from ML, there are other people with abilities as well but there abilities are also not highlighted very much. It feels like a huge loss.

4. Unnatural Romance: There are signs that ML likes MC throughout the novel but MC only treats ML as a good friend. One day ML suddenly proposes MC. MC says he'll think about it. And he actually agrees. The story doesn't explain what the hell he thought but he directly marries ML. Basically, the romance seems forced by the author. 5. MC Doesn't Feel Sincere Enough to ML:
Spoiler

I somewhat understand that MC wants to go back to his original world at first. But even after he gets married, he still wants to go back. I mean if he so wants to go back and knows that ML won't be with him but still marries ML anyways without telling the whole truth feels like a betrayal from the MC's part. Like he isn't sincere enough to ML.

[collapse]

6. Bad Ending: I didn't like the very ending.
Spoiler

MC goes back to his original world. And ML finds him in a day or two. Nothing is explained afterwards. The ending is specially rushed.

[collapse]

CONCLUSION

The novel could have been better. Proper planning and research prior to writing seems lacking. There are many other novels with properly written story out there in this genre so this novel is only mediocre at best.

But for a web novel, it's not really bad. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. <<less

Very Satisfying ?

1: The clan building

2:The farming & Cooking

... more>> And last but not the least the Romance although it's slow, but totally worth reading it.

The MC is not so OP here, he is a total weakling if not for his golden finger, that can buy anything but that anything will someday vanished so it's not forever, at least until 104 it's still there, BUT... but.. Although he can buy anything, he's not doing it because there is a limit in his money something like that So yeah..

Okay I'm not good at explaining things, so just read it guys!!

Edit : Completed (132chapters)

I'm a little bit sad the ending is a bit rushed well.. All in all it's still good, because in the end they still got together.. ?] <<less

Good story but some plots on this Civilisation for very backward tribe people are rushed up.. I mean how can he (MC) use drones for tribe first battle, drones are considered luxury even for 20th century people.. Also using projector to show cartoon animations to cave people are too much seriously.. This is such a good story but author failed to do much research from stone ages to recent modern civilisation.. The way this people developing are so fast and its too much for me to digest.. Well I can... more>> say to okay to prosthesis but not drones, Walkie-talkie, projections, plastic buckets, etc... If its spread to many large tribes as well as spl cannibalistic tribes it will bring inevitable danger to MC & that tribe and I guess MC/author is too dumb to realise that.. Even if you are strong it's not good : (MC is too obsessed with doing so many things to this tribe people and it's really nahhh for me (maybe author want to emphasise his task)

And MC ML romance is like turtle where I feel so bored to Continuously read only this fast paced civilisation. If I was supposedly living in that era that would be simply too much luxury for me to adapt even if I believe in MC as a god ? Also the order they are improving is kinda messed up... It should be like Salt, bamboo products (such as huts, baskets, tubes, etc), agriculture, pottery, poultry, iron/ore weapons (tribes mostly use stone weapons and bamboo/timbre wood based bows arrows to hunt in early stages) then making houses with bricks, natural cement, tiles, Paper, etc... I very much feel this order is messed up and author hurried up in showing their awes but failed to pick up my interest...

But the thing that I loved most is how group of people are assigned to particular jobs according to their talents. Not to mention how MC let them learn themselves more than relying on himself to teach everything, as expected "Wisdom is the great tool of human mankind".. Educating them to improve their livelihoods are the best thing to do rather than spoon feeding ??

Anyway even though I feel lot of contradictory here just wanna finish this story to see how it's gonna end (hope I won't drop in middle). Also this perspective is personal from my POV after reading countless novels from early ages and also from my historical reading, I don't expect all people to agree with this.

I give 2.5/5 rounding off 3/5 for this novel. If you are too much into perfect characterisation, this might be too much for you and if you are just light reader you might enjoy reading this.

Edit: it's getting better after 54th episode still developments are in linear smooth fashion and there is no twist and turns in the plot you might feel really bored if you are not into infrastructure things. Also I can't see much romane btw MC x ML, honestly MC character is so boring here : ( <<less

Good light hearted kingdom building read. Not much is focused on the actual romance, and for this type of story, the ending was slightly abrupt/no extras. Still, this ended on a good note, and was a HE. The pacing was done well, a lot more time skips happened near the end, but you were able to see the overall progression of his tribe. Just kinda wished the author had written some extras, but still a good read.

Okay. This novel is unlike other novels that are really super long. As you can see it is only 132 chapters. So it is fast paced. This is a shounen ai sa no snu snu or anything. It concentrates about the development of the tribe. When the ML and MC got together it like came out of nowhere but I dont mind cause im not here for the romance.

I really like how they made this. I read a similar novel but its really super long though it is also good.... more>> This is also easy to mtl.

Spoiler

In the end, MC went back to his world and ML followed him. And thats it. Lol.

I like this kind of plot. Tribal. Society building. But, I kinda don't like how the author writes. There's a lot of narration, like a lot. And it's boring, it's making the whole story a drag to read.

I prefer dialogues, I prefer the characters talking over narration.

This is another one of those novels that I inexplicably found enjoyable~ Despite the fact that it embodies quite a few of my pet peeves for story writing lmao. As a book focused on infrastructure, the characters that are introduced (including the MC and ML) are not as important as the progression of the community as a whole. It all starts with the MC being sent into a primitive environment where people still group together as tribes -- focusing on hunting and gathering rather than farming and breeding. He was... more>> given a mission by a God to create infrastructure and was given the ability to do so via a magical space filled with items from his time period.

After this semi-slow introduction, the story starts to speed up incrementally to show how the originally small group of people create an entire city for themselves. This is the main focus of the story~ I like such stories, but others may not find it as enjoyable, especially since the romance and other plot is pretty negligible. It's pretty much grinding and farming 100% of the time.

EXTRA NOTES: On the matter of the TL and MTL, the TL is readable and the MTL semi-readable (I would say... 75-80%?) The issue is mainly on names and pronouns, so pretty basic stuff.

CHARACTERS: 6.5/10

Character development is not really a focus in this story, but the author did well when it came to introducing characters, especially with such a wide-cast. Each one was memorable so that it isn't easy to confuse one with another.

Yang Yi (MC)

The MC is a pretty ordinary guy. At least, in his previous life. He enjoys survival and infrastructure games, which helps a lot, but he's not the kind of person to actually step out and do the work himself. In the story, he acts as a spiritual force and guiding entity, pretty much. He isn't personally developing things with his own hands constantly, which is why the story is very fast-paced.

Black Hunter (ML)

Opposite of the MC, he acts as the major physical and military force. As someone originally from this primitive fantasy environment, he's very strong -- which makes him a perfect partner for the MC.

ROMANCE: 6/10

The romance in this tory is very subtle. The ML employees the 'boiling a frog' method and goes slow and steady, not showing much of his interest until the MC was completely ensnared lolol~ I thought this was interesting, but yeah, if you're looking for romance in your danmei novels, then this story is probably not for you.

SETTING: 8/10

I liked the set-up of this story quite a bit! There are some pretty wishy-washy parts, but the author did a pretty good job focusing on the important bits -- enough to allow a better understanding of the world as a whole.

PLOT: 8.5/10

This is an infrastructure novel through and through! If you don't like such novels, I'd say avoid it. Cause the novel doesn't have much else in terms of plot lolol

PERSONAL ENJOYMENT: 7/10

I enjoyed the story quite a bit. But I'm not sure if I comprehended the story as much as I should have.. I mean, relatively okay MTL is still MTL. So *sneezingface*

RATING: 3.6/5

Overall, a pretty pleasant experiment for me. May not be the same for others, but I liked it! <<less

Who am I? Where am I? What just happened???

Apologies for not making the standard review, but I am quite frankly, shocked at the abrupt ending.

At least they were kind enough to provide a summary. From what they wrote in the final chapter, it looked like they we're totally preparing to write two more arcs but then decided to quite.

... more>> Honestly, other than the abrupt ending, the story was to my taste! Calm BL, World building, violence here and there. What more could a girl ask for?

Honestly, the descriptions of the tribe developement and even character introductions were very high quality (even in MTL). There were many times that a new background character was introduced, yet I always found them to be memorable.

Overall, it was a very calm read that stimulated an appropriate amount of excitement (it felt like I was a part of the tribe). Again, the abrupt ending was a bit of a downer, but at least they gave us a summary instead of leaving us hanging.

5/5 Would read a third time. <<less

The MC is just a normal Otaku gamer which is forced to transmigrated so construction of tribe is not perfect. The rooms for improvement are left to the indigenous people of that eastern continent.

For ML, he is my ideal! A great and competent leader. Not like the overbearing president type. He has bearing of a leader but not "overbearing". He also has looks, perfect body and is strong XD

Downside: slow and detailed at first but rushed near the end. I also find some chapters boring. The author should have written... more>> more about the extraordinary talents of the native there in world building, and in fights. The whole novel is short, I want to read more, even extra will do. <<less

I didn't read it for romance but even though, the romance is suddenly thrown which annoyed me. Man, they weren't even as close as close friends are. The author isn't good in transmeting feelings.

The story is enjoyable so 3.5 to 4 rating for me. However the ending is not quite.... necessary?! I mean ... more>>

he already lived for many years there and they became fairly developed and he loves his life there so... Why come back ? Leaving his everything ! In other novels when MC live the rest of his life in primitive world I feel it will be quite hard and kinda boring. But in this novel it is not that backward and the MC lived for more than decade and became accustomed and devolved feeling for the place. The only reason I find is that they lived there alot and saw most places and was about to retire from chief posion so returning to his world is an entertanmet to travel around differant places and have something to do instead of boredom ? Lol

I felt that it was very interesting. MC builds a city with advanced things which will degrade rapidly after a period of time. It gives him a golden finger that eventually loses its shine after a few years when people consume the items. But, he still retains his wits.

My only peeve with this novel: ... more>>
Spoiler

in the end, it is never stated if the MC managed to complete his mission and return to his own world. It was alluded to that he would definitely go back and the ML would follow no matter what, but like other reviews had said, I want to know what happens after

There's too many plot holes and I would've rated this lower if I didn't stick to it for 100 chapters. This is the one time I think the writing quality was actually so poor that I ended up not enjoying the story and characters either, and not the other way around. There's too many things that raised my irritation level up; the stilted dialogues, the prose that could've been cut or edited better, the lack of timing and structure to the plot. The build up was such a mess that... more>> everything coming after it -- even if it was good or interesting, couldn't excuse what a blob of mess it was. It was just-- god. I might not like the fact that the MC just used props and did nothing at the beginning, I might not like the side characters being completely 1D, but nothing makes me madder than the actual writing being bad itself so I'd even skip over the plot points that were eurgh in this case.

There's a better sense of measure around chapter 68 forward, and I do like how it taps into societal structure and politics later on. But... god.. <<less

4 stars because at least there's no r*pe, lol.

I don't like that MC is so Mary Sue, he repeatedly stresses "these things are just temporary" but it can't be denied he still has a large assortment of different tools and things to use. Somehow he also can do surgeries and make pottery and prosthetic limbs, even if they're all at a shoddy level. Everything happens much faster and smoother than it makes sense to lol. Sure there's limitations, but he can pull out just about anything useful from his storage... more>> space. Honestly I think Stone Age Husband Raising Manual is the better story in just about every single way. The introduction of modern technologies was much more realistic there. Furthermore, there's romance, and more character development in general. <<less

I have finished reading this 3 times, it's a must read when you like farming/building civilization/infrastructure trope. Granted, the romance is barely there, but the city building is one of the most satisfying I've read. My personal fave is this and Everybody loves the son of Rong (I don't think anyone has ever translated that, I could be mistaken)

If not bcause I rlly like the couple chemistry n I rlly enjoy it in the beginning to mid story, I rlly wanna just rate 1 star!! I'm just so so mad at the ending!! Abrupt ending, so many loophole not settle yet. Even towards the end u can c the story already rush everywhere. This is one of the book where I hate the ending very much I vow not to read from this author ever again! It's like a cliffhanger ending I swear.

The story focus on infrastructure n... more>> city building. But really the shallow writing n lack of description when a certain project they did finish construction make it rlly hard to find any enjoyment or satisfaction. Too brisk n described half ass. There's many random time skip towards the end but the development of the tribe is not well described. The population increase a bit unrealistic too, so huge number in the beginning but towards the end it just stagnate.

Also racism is too strong in here. Too much emphasis on how shtty the western continent, it probably would b fine if they dnt described the ppl over there with blue eyes, yeah clearly racist. And then at the end it even mentioned despite the pretty n huge castle building the ppl even maid urinate n defecate everywhere =_= like where is ur logic author?? The development of infrastructure always in line with hygiene control especially for rich ppl. Doesn't make sense they hve so much maid n servant in a castle yet they defecate everywhere like brainless idiot.

The romance between MC n ML I consider okay. Can feel very romantic as the whole story mainly just the dialogue between the 2 of them. But can also feel like non-existent bcause there's not even a kiss beside the forehead kiss. Author must b single. Don't even expect any snu snu moment or passionate kiss, I tell u none at all. Very lacking in intimacy moment yet at the same time they r intimate it's always just them 2 planning this n that. <<less

It's the best clan-building novel I've read so far. Wow, everything is just right. Love how the outcasts can develop themselves to be the centre of the world (yes literally!) so much! From those who can't afford to eat and keep warm, the tribe members are getting better and stronger under the lead of the ML, and it's so much fun to see they come up with producing new items while living good life. It's also fun to see how outsiders become shocked by the tribe's wellbeing and way of... more>> living.

Another aspect I like apart from infrastructure building is the positive attitude of the tribe members. It's indeed inspirational to see all of them work hard for the tribe's better life. This is especially so when each and every one of them find their affinity/ speciality and reach their potential in the end.

For me, 4.3 rating is quite a shame. The story deserves much better, and it is highly recommended! And it becomes my comfort read that I can read again and again and feel so good too (: <<less
