The Young General’s Wife Is Mr. Lucky

Yu Jinli* was a koi fish who had cultivated for a thousand years.

He had taken the shape of a human being, and possessed the ability to predict fortune and change luck.

He was supposed to be a popular Mr. Lucky but who could have thought that…

“Sir, your forehead is covered by gloomy air. I’m afraid there is a looming threat of fatal disaster waiting for you…” Yu Jinli said with all seriousness.

All of a sudden, a big flower pot descended from above and hit that man directly on the head.

“Buddy, the top of your head is green. I’m afraid that…”

Before Yu Jinli finished, the young man opposite him received a call and headed to a hotel nearby to catch his girlfriend in the act of adultery.

“Brother, you…”

Everyone cried: Lord General, please take good care of your wife and don’t let him throw curses around… TAT

Yu Jinli felt frustrated: Obviously, I’m warning them with good intentions.

The nationally acknowledged most perfect man, the young general: Dear, don’t get upset because of those shortsighted people. Come home with me and I’ll make you chestnuts roasted with brown sugar.

Those “shortsighted” people: …

*Note : The two Chinese characters “Jin Li” in the name sounds similar to the two Chinese characters for koi fish. ‘Jinli’ is now a symbol of luck in internet slang.

I almost read the novel. Each chapter is short so it's ok even if there are many chapters. I like the novel on the plot basis but construction of plot is not good. The MC has huge good luck and strong and no one can bully him. I won't talk much about MC because it will not be interesting if you know all about him. And about ML, he is weak at first due to an accident but he gradually recovers thanks to MC and become powerful. The novel shows... more>> that ML loves MC from the first time they meet even though unconsciously. And ML spoils MC so much and very much supportive of anything MC wants to do even though ML is a big vinegar tank (very much contradictory). Finally ML and MC interactions are sweet and sugary and excessive. It's ok since it's only a novel. But what I didn't like most is the MC's classmates. Even though they look like they are close to MC and defending him everywhere, I always have a feeling that they are the ones who bully MC most in the name of friendship. A person would not be jealous and proud of someone at the same time. But these classmates always feel jealous (it is mentioned almost every chapter) and also make themselves look like they are proud of MC. I really didn't like MC's classmates. I feel like in all of the novel, there is only one or two incidents that they helped him and that too because MC is more helpful to them. And they are all greedy. It's ok to want to learn more and ask friends to guide them and support each other. But they always want to have more than what they can have. For example, MC's mental strength is at first D-level, so he can only be atmost D-level card maker. But MC's situation is different from others, so he can advance mental strength and card maker level. But it is not possible to others. But they all ask him to find a way to raise their mental strength too. Even if someone is a genius and can do anything, people should not put heavy pressure on them. It's not one incident, so many times they all ask him to do things for them. They are really bullying in the name of friendship. That's the only thing I'm dissatisfied with in the novel. Finally, it's ok to read this novel once but you can't read more than once because it has so many plot holes that I even forgot everything and remembered only few things like this one I explained above. It will definitely frustrate you to read this novel completely. <<less

Good read for a vacant time. But just a second choice otherwise.

It is indeed fluffy but there were alot of moments where I just scrunch my eyebrows and go "df?"

Alot of problems encountered by MC were very unnecessarily magnified and could have been easily solved considering MC's own strength, talents, and IQ. (which the author failed to showcase except when to face slap 😓) Whats more, theres also the ML's connections and influence. And speaking of ML, his style is already overused and unappealing.

Which are very common... more>> occurrence in alot of Mary Sue/Gary Stu stories. Just like lowering the IQ of antagonists and side characters to amplify MC and ML's magnificence. But even among all the Mary Sue/Gary Stu stories that I liked, this is still just a meh level. <<less

This is my first time reading a cn's novel with 500+ chapters, so here's my opinion on it so far:

1. MC is a Gary Stu Koi, everywhere he goes. People can't help but like him

2. ML is very OP, he's a walking vinegar jar as well as very protective of MC

... more>> 3. Plot gets a bit repetitive as you progress through the story

4. Tons and tons of dog food scattered everywhere!

5. I kinda scheme through the titles of each chapters and found something about zombies... so I'm very intrigued with this jump in genres at the end o.o

Final thoughts: Read with a carefree mentality, usually tropes like these aren't meant to be serious. It's just a sweet story of a cute koi and a loving general spreading their PDA, it also depends on your preference for tropes like these. I will pick it back up when I have nothing else to read (。´ ‿`) <<less

Don't understand the low rating at all.

This is a very cute novel and if fluffy. I really liked it. Quite a relaxing read. You won't find any deep plots of something. But if you are here for brainless fluff it will satisfy you.

I think if I had read the full story at a go, I probably would have rated it lower but since it took a long while to update and finish on flying-lines, I'll give it a 4 because the end was very cute.

At first, I was just dazzled by the MC's innocence, ML's vinegar jar and how they broke everyone's worldview but later, I simply enjoyed it and fell inlove laughing at the author's creativity
Spoiler

The combination of spiritualism, interstellar era, mecha, gourmet food, cardmaking that reminds me of Yu-gi-oh with pokemon and plants versus zombies in the apocalypse is the very definition of all-in-one!

This was really good are the beginning but now the only reason I could keep reading it was because I wanted to see the MCs master and brother find him. I liked the idea of holographic cooking (it reminded me of another novel but I don't remember which) and the ML was great. I did want him to be a bit more surprised when he found out that his lover was a fish though.

So I have spent my last week binge reading this book MTL style (which is really easy to understand by the way.) And I have to say, I freaking love this love.

I've grown such a fondness for our little koi MC his adventure into this new interstellar world that he is thrust into.

There's a lot of bits of intrigue between what happened to our Yu Jinli in the beginning to how he ended up into this world. A lot of the history gets explored and a lot of questions do... more>> get answered.

Its a really heartwarming tale, with really fun segments of

There's so many things packed into this novel that I was never bored. Although I know that some people have complained about the quality of this novel having so many facets but I think the author treats it quite well. It's a mixture of a lot of books that I've enjoyed here such as "In the Future, My Whole Body is a Treasure", "The Film Emperor's Daily Live Cooking Broadcast", "Master of Trading Star Card Game, " etc.. Without being a direct copy of any. Just a really fun novel I couldn't stop smiling at.

I also know that people have had some gripes in the comments about MC being a "white lotus" but the MC throughout this whole novel is very stagnant with the point that he can protect himself and has proved that through his various of talents. This can be through his skills of

cooking, cardmaking, mecha-making, alchemy, etc.. [

This couple are both very powerful beings, so I don't think its fair to say that the MC is reliant on the ML in anyway. Furthermore, even though this a top notch power couple we still have to deal with a lot of twists from our villains (brainless or not) and we get to see how our characters attack those problems/get stronger.

Once again I really loved this novel so I recommend giving it a shot. <<less

So all in all, it's a really good read with some pretty minor gripes.

Pros:

It's light and fluffy and overflowing with cuteness.

The interstellar world, although done a lot, has some pretty new things that I have not seen in any other BL. It's pretty unique and a great read.

Cons:

ML's personality type is getting really old really fast. Getting jealous over EVERY LITTLE THING?! Talking with friends too long. Jealous. Taking care of other people he cares for. Jealous. I get a bit of jealousy, but under every single little thing?!
Spoiler

Can't there ever be an ML who actually cares for their little brother more than just "I'll do the bare minimum brotherly duties"?

[collapse]

This novel also falls into the common trap of foreigner hate.
Spoiler

There is an Empire that is basically US's interstellar offshoot that are absolute douchebags towards the Chinese Federation. First of all they are culturally Chinese with a Chinese mindset. They act nothing like actual US (majority of) people would. Now you can argue that their culture would change over time but the author wrote the Federation as noticeably heavy Chinese culture still ingrained in their actions

[collapse]

MC is obviously a hidden powerhouse although he looks really frail, but author never really give him time to shine. He did so twice to face slap, but not to his true full powered ability which I'm kind of disappointed about.

The starting of the novel till chapter 10 has a lot of similarities to "In the Future, My Whole Body is a Treasure".

Spoiler

Like the MC being a spiritual beast or a plant or animal who became human who seems to know nothing about the world. ML is sick and dying after a fight with the Zerg +conspiracies, ML's father being sick and retired due to injuries. MC's first interaction with ML plus a LOT of other things.

[collapse]

I have not read the rest. Hope it starts to become different.

A super fluffy, cute and slow romance story between a simple, child-like OP Koi-fish MC and the patient but possessive gong. A wonderful peaceful read if u r tired of disloyal, abusive gongs and TSTL and masochist shou.

The story is pure fluff, and the Lucky Koi MC never has any true setbacks. The cute story was enjoyable, and so was the the sweet interaction between the ML and MC; yet the MC is the epitome of Gary Stu / Mary Sue. ?

Spoiler

He's able to cultivate though 'spirit/faith points', heal ML's 'cripple' status and ML's dad's poison. He somehow has amazing cooking abilities, gains the ability to make energy/elemental cards, can learn anything very quickly, and later gains the ability to make mechas / purify constructed mecha parts to no impurities. It goes from a cooking hologram/show, to a virtual game with card making to making mechs to Zerg/military things to spirtual world/animal cultivation. Also, Gary Stu Lucky Koi always avoids plots against him by his sheer good luck or is protected by ML/others. It's true he works relatively hard, but good results also happen to him super easily.

Not that the story is bad, it's still an extremely adorable story. But some aspects of it reads more like fan fiction/wish-fulfillment by the author, lol. ? Still, it's a long, but fun read, but there's no tension in the challenges that the MC faces.... Which is why I suppose he's a Lucky Koi. ?

Cuteness, fluffiness, love overload!

The main character is cute, simple, and adorable! Matched with the iceberg yet gentle to only MC strong major general is the perfert combination to convey endless yet addictive sweet, love-sharing scenes.

I simply love the mc's character! How can you not love a simple yet lucky cultivator koi? All hail lucky koi fishes!

This novel is a good slice of life story with occasional drama with the military, with focus on mc's growth and skills as a cultivator/ cardmarker and emphasis on familial love. Of course, the best... more>> scenes are the lovely, fluffy, and heart-touching scenes with MC and ml.

Overall, the author did a wonderful job to put all these characteristics together while making the story flow smoothly. It left me with a sweet, satisfied feeling in the end. <<less

I'm confused with all the 1 star reviews people!!!! So that is the reason why I'm writing this review.

I absolutely love this book. Maybe it has slow-burn romance or just the regular old ML (kinda different though-a little bit) but the author described a lot of details about the interstellar world, unlike other interstellar novels. I'm a major fan of OP MC with the interstellar world concept. But after some time of reading, almost all other interstellar novels have become boring to read. They just only focused on the reactions... more>> of "NETIZENS" and how OP MC is. But this novel is not just focused on MC but also on other side characters (like MC's Classmates) and it did not abandon any side characters so far. What I like about the MC is, after he transmigrates to the interstellar he took time to realize that he has the greatest power, unlike other novel MCs who understand it at the moment they were transmigrated. Even though MC is an innocent and naive sweet bun, he is also good at making readers annoyed and frustrated. But overall, I love this book and recommend it to all who want to read a little bit realistic interstellar novel. <<less

It was interesting at first so I continued reading it but as time goes by the plot and story elements got a bit ridiculous. I am okay with the MC being innocent as he was originally a koi who became human. ML is also a bit okay since I am used to reading possessive male leads. The story is actually nothing new as the plot is the same as the other dog-blooded novels I have read. The thing with the food streaming is actually interesting combined with the energy cards... more>> creation. But I think the author is a too much of a fan of Pokemon and Plants VS Zombies ^^;; I skipped some chapters since I find some parts of the plot too boring. The ending is a bit disappointing with the whole real life Plant VS Zombies plot lol. It was an okay read but definitely will not read again. Read this if you just want to waste some time. <<less

The story is very cliche and with a strong use of the 'protagonist halo', but I liked it because it is light, without complicated drama, it is a reading to pass the time, it has some comedy scenes and ML is so sweet with MC, I liked how their relationship developed. Perhaps it is not a story that is to everyone's liking, I quite liked it but it is not among my Top favorite novels. I wish it had extras because I wanted to know more about some minor characters,... more>> but overall it's a good novel. I still recommend it if you want a cliché story without much drama. <<less

Started reading the translations from Flying Lines. The “chapters” are so short, I reached the paywall at c25 in no time. I never mind optional donations for translations (bc I understand translating and editing is also hard work), but when chapters are actually locked behind a paywall, you see me run away. I don’t think I’ll miss much beyond what I’ve read tbh.

The MC so far seems Gary Stu and has the halo where everyone who’s not his villain family already loved him. So innocent and loveable, but also resourceful?... more>> Boring. I believe the only reason one would continue reading on is to get to the eventual face slapping I know will occur. But, would it be different from all the other novels out there with a similar premise? I don’t believe so.

I don’t think it’s worth paying to continue reading past the paywall. Maybe I may MTL myself. <<less

I think I understand why the rating is low. Ive searched other sites for this novel and most of them have shitty translation and most that Ive tried to read has a confusing thing that switch the he word in the novel to she and some of the names just dont make sense because it was directly translated. Also flying lines have instated a paywall to all the novels so I dont bother trying to read it from the beginning anymore. Lyrus translation is good since but the translator only... more>> has the a chunk of the chapters translated not all of it though so thats abit sad. <<less
