Right after getting the first-class chef’s certificate and before that certificate had been in her hands long enough to warm up, she woke up. Not only did she age ten years, she also gained two children…

At this time, her new daughter, who had lost two of her front baby teeth and spoke with a lisp, pointed at the TV screen and called out, “Dad!”

On the screen, the Film Emperor Meng Yan was extremely handsome and charming. Towards the camera, his gaze was overflowing with gentle and tender feelings. He raised up the hand that was holding hands with captivatingly beautiful bride. She was wearing a diamond-beaded wedding dress. At the bottom of the TV screen, the headline news was displayed in large font – Meng Yan and the rising starlet’s wedding of the century.

The novel starts well and has good ideas but is poorly developed. It was more interesting reading about her career than her romance with the ML. In fact, their romance only progresses because the people around them and the news push them. There’s basically no plot after the halfway point. The latter half glosses over her daily life, her kids, her marriage, and her ex.

To be clear, it was not love at first sight for ML. When they first met, he had a good impression of her even if the situation was embarrassing.

The second time they met, she caught his stomach and that's when he started mooching meals off her. He's just shameless and she doesn't mind sharing food. Also, Lu Xun is goofy and has low EQ, him and his nephew Mingzhe is lacking family warmth and there's an abundance of familial warmth in the Lin household.... more>>
Spoiler

ML first realized he likes her when he saw another guy as competition. But he's not completely unaware, he is just silly and has no romantic experience. Like instead of giving a ring to confess,

he would give a jade dog coz a dog is loyal and the jade is expensive, so

that means she means a lot to him

[collapse]

The ML is funny. He's only a domineering CEO in the office coz he's projecting but he's really clumsy and a foodie. But he really loves FL's children

and cares for them more than the biological dad. He's also often bullied by his nephew.

I love the characters especially the FL's mom. She's the queen and the two leads won't go anywhere without this queen and the novel's og ML, Mingzhe. Shanshan the cute baby, Yuran the text book tsundere, and the fish-loving step-dad. There's doting in this novel, but it's more like the FL dotes on her children and the ML.

Regarding the Dad, ex-husband
Spoiler

It didn't say if he loved the FL before and during marriage or why he married her. It didn't say if he fell out of love because she was too clingy or maybe because of his powerful mother-in-law who dotes on her daughter but doesn't like him. Because he didn't really put an importance on his wife's money or his m-i-l's influence since he chose to divorce and marry another actress.

But getting married again a few months after divorce is such a scum move. In the end, when he wanted to get close to his children, it's already too late, and he somewhat regrets it when he got older and got an empty house. In the past, he always neglects and forgets his family's events, then it was their turn to ignore and forget about him, he wasn't even invited during his daughter's wedding.

[collapse]

Some things I like about the ending:

Spoiler
  • The cannon fodder daughter ShanShan did not fall in love with the og ML, Mingzhe like in the og novel. She only has brotherly love for him and he dotes on her like his real sister. She fell in love and married someone else when she got older.
  • The villain son Yuran still doesn't get along with the og ML, but as it was mentioned, he's a tsun, so maybe he kinda likes him but often gets jealous because he's a sis-con and a mom-con. So the villain and ML became frenemies/step-cousins
  • The ex-husband got the wife he wants, who shares the same values as him (working hard as an actor), but in the end, he felt cold and dissatisfied because she prioritizes her career and won't even take care of their daughter. He suddenly remembers all the good things he had with his ex-wife, when she would always welcome him home with their children, and there was always a hot meal and warm home waiting for him.

What I don't like: The ending feels so abrupt. Like it ends and feels like shouldn't there be more? Not because it's so good, I want more chapters, but the ending ends with the ex-husband reminiscing in an empty house, thinking how her daughter's wedding was because he wasn't invited. It's like the author suddenly got lazy. I wish it says more like what will happen to the og FL, how was Yiyi and Lu Xun, Xuran and Mingzhe.

Wow this is very refreshing! I really like the writing style. Each paragraph is comical and made me laugh. That's how hilarious this book was.

I also love the interaction of the Lin's and Lu's very dinamyc, warm, and lovely. This is basically family genre with R-13 because you won't find any skinship from main couple. Not even slightest thought about it is undecent. Unbeliavbly we have a very pure and innocent love story between 33-34s yo adult.

Our ML is a very innocent and goofy. He is a lost cause. He... more>> really didn't know how to court a lady. Our FL is not much better, she is very inexperienced. So we will read a puppy love but the person we are speaking is a 30s yo adult.

Anyway, if you want to read a funny and warm family story, you got the right book! <<less

The beginning was very interesting with FL getting two instant children and adapting to be a mother. It was a smooth sailing journey as she used her cooking abilities to the max.

Midway it kinda dwindled down and a lot of things are getting skipped. I wouldn't say this is too slice of life-y and I think My Son is a Reborn Villain has better flow and also follow up for each things that the FL started.

In this story, we see our FL would visit the son to school... more>> for lunch, do broadcast, open restaurant, having it successfully running, and also later entertainment company – all in the span of what, like 3-4 months? The pace was too fast for the story and yet the follow up is quite weak for each one. This what makes me rate it 4 stars.

The childcare story is very nice though, and I love reading the interaction between the characters. I'm also surprised that the ML is so likeable even though at first I was kinda dreading about having an ML in the story.

While it was understandable that FL hates oriML (ML's nephew), reading it was really painful and made me not like the FL as much because oriML is quite pitiful as a child. His only relative is an uncle who doesn't like interacting with him. As an ex-orphan, I thought FL would have more sympathy towards him. Her not having any really disappointed me.

Spoiler

Especially her first reaction when she knows the nephew was oriML is that she regretted not poisoning his food. Like lady, caaalm doowwwn. He is just an innocent kid now and won't you be jailed for that? That really shook me and the turning point for me to see that FL is not that likeable or righteous as it seemed.

So this is more like the ethical question of 'would you kill a person who can be a... (insert bad role) in the future if you could go back in time', and I found it extremely ironic that FL loves "her children" due to their circumstances and hate the other child when their situation was the same. Did she forget that she was an orphan and used to feel bad for abandoned/lonely kids?

But in the end, it's just a matter of perspective of who is bad and who is good.

[collapse]

All in all, it is a good read, but too bad the story falls short from my expectation. <<less

TLDR: 4 stars if you don't mind slice of life that really doesn't go anywhere give it 5, If cute kids and wealth p*rn doesn't do it for you give it 2 or 3 stars.

My biggest problems with this novel were it just wasn't what it was advertised. The whole trans, migration into a novel, bad ending plot, etc are barely after thoughts. The romance is also a very unimportant part of the novel.

What are the important parts of the novel? Wealth p*rn, cute kids, and food p*rn. If that's... more>> enough for you give this one high marks. If not well it may well be a painful read <<less

I like how the author doesnt push the FL to the ex-husband despite having kids. Its refreshing to see FL that found new love for her and her family.

ML is funny, again quite unique for being goofy in a childcare novel.

What things I don't see since the author wants more parent-child than romance is. I don't see how ML captivates the heart of the two children (completely). I don't see FL ask her children if its fine to marry the ML. I don't see the relationship between FL and the... more>> nephew because she is still wary towards him).

It's totally worth it to read. Promoting that there's still a second chance in love, and doesn't live together because there are children. <<less

I dont read bg novel much nowadays ever since I started reading bl. But I come across this novel and I had just to give review to this novel although its been a while since i've read this.

This novel is for sure one of my top fav novel regarding the baby raising or on the theme of children. The MC is the dream mother people hope to get. Im happy for both her children.

If you love this kind of novel, just go ahead. Its totally worth your time.

Truth be told I liked it more before the ML showed up, it got tiring how the MC forced her son to interact with him and the future ML. It's a double standard the same way she treated the future FL is she should have treated the future ML

The story is pretty cute, apart from the instances where I had to bring some snacks with me when reading.

MC is pretty realistic and not overly obnoxious and the slice-of-life with her children is very fluffy and entertaining.

This novel was really a breath of fresh air where the MC's greatest revenge against the ex-husband was living happily with her children. Of course, there's still some face smacking in the novel, but it's a mild comparison to the really harsh smacks on other reincarnation novels.

Absolutely loved the story. It is one of the most wholesome, fluffy stories I have read on this site. I love the two main leads and I absolutely adore them stumbling in realizing their love for each other and expressing it. The dynamic between the family - yes all 7 of them - was so cute it made my heart feel full.

MC showered the two children with love and attention - they were her main priority and it shows through every chapter of the novel.

Story

Spoiler

MC woke up as a divorce wife who chose to su*cide before her ex-husband's wedding. Her children were neglected and her reputation was in shambles. She took over the family, gave her two children all the love and attention they deserved. She fell in love with the original ML's uncle and adopted the ML into their family, thus changing the life of all the 3 - the ML, the cannon fodder daughter and the villain son. Instead of them fighting each other for the original FL, they end up becoming a family.

[collapse]

Spoiler

I also love how she accepted the ML (of the book she read before transmigration) into her family - despite her initial worries considering the fate of her two cute children at the hands of the ML (as written in the book), she welcomed the ML and cared about him like a mother would. She changed the entire storyline giving those 3 children a childhood they never had.

[collapse]

About the actual ML of this story

Spoiler

What can I say? I only wish I meet a man like this one day. Although it is slightly unrealistic how a business mogul is this innocent around a woman, it is absolutely wholesome. Normally, a male divorce with a pious woman is seen as the norm in society, seeing the opposite is just so refreshing.

[collapse]

My only problem with the story

Spoiler

It's the ending - it is still a fluffy sweet ending but it was too rushed. To be honest, I also wished that the two 13 year old icicles would behave more like a child rather than stone cold faced leads in a chinese romance novel. I loved the storyline of the daughter - how she being the princess of the Lin/Lu family chose a simple dentist as her husband. It's so far away from what happens to her in the book - especially considering the ML for whom she went to jail and ruined her career in the original book, ended up becoming her brother and her closest friend.

[collapse]

Loved, loved, loved the story - hopefully my dreams tonight will be graced with such a sweet loving husband and children *crying as an old virg*n* <<less

I forced myself to finish the story. I dislike it quite a bit.

Things I find ridiculous:

  • FL was a renowned chef in her previous life. She ends up live streaming cooking to have a reason for ML to be attracted to her food and shamelessly come by for dinner often. She later opens a restaurant that she rarely cooks in, leaving it to chefs. She also stops live streaming at one point. It seems rather pointless to say that she’s a renowned chef.
OriFL’s mother did not even know her daughter transmigrated and doesn’t seem to realize that FL’s skills of cooking is so good and impossible to pick up so quickly just like that.
OriFL must have been so easily forgotten that no one seems to realize she’s been swapped??? Not her parents nor her kids????
I feel bad for oriFL ngl.
  • ML and his low EQ baffles me. This does not make it a romantic read at all. He stumbles into a relationship with FL. Did not understand his own feelings and even never properly confessed in a romantic setting. FL also did not really have romantic feelings per se? She just went “oh I guess I kinda like him”. And then they get married. It just felt superbly bland to me.
  • I also dislike the mother Lin Ping for focusing on marriage for the daughter. Why is it so important??? Let you daughter heal and take care of her kids first??? The forcing of FL to go on blind dates made me want to hurl. The grandma even conveniently forgot about the kids at one of the chapters. How hurtful it is??? Did they even discuss about mum’s new relationship with the kids? Nope.
Things I liked:

Lin Shanshan not marrying Lu Mingzhe. Thank god for that.

The romance and lack of things going on in the second part of the novel really bored me to tears. Barely readable 1/5 and then a like one page summary of how the actual story turned out. Took me forever to finish because of how dull it was spending chapter after chapter with just drivel and small talk. Feels like a student who needed to write x amount of pages and just started adding nothingness. I can understand a rating of 4.1 if you only read the first half and... more>> I give it a 2/5 in remembrance of it, but there's nothing justifying that second part.

Did two completely different people write the different halves? Because second author surely never heard of the idea of "show, don't tell". <<less

I really like this novel... literally re-read them about ten times.

The ML is a silly guy who acts like an overbearing CEO. The FL is funny and I just love the parents and kids relationships shown😍😍😍

Just read it and you'll understand. (I am just not good at writing reviews, so over and out?)

Romance is slow as both the MC and ML are block head and MC mother had to do things to make them realise that they like/love each other. I was following it as the translation began till it was completely translated. It kinda kept in the edge and made me wait for the next translated chapter. However I was kind of disappointed when the story was ending as the ending was quiet rushed. I felt that the author could have written it more detailed ending— that’s my personal opinion as... more>> for others it might be good to have ended it like that.

I'd give the series a 5/5. First of all, the translation by FuyuNeko is just superb and second, the author stayed true to their plot line. The story is quite simple actually. Though its plot is just the the MC transmigrating into the body of the Ex-wife of the King of Film and overturning her reputation and her two instant children's impending doom, it mainly focuses on fluffy family dynamics. It also features a really soft and light-hearted romance. The MC is really talented with cooking, so we get a... more>> lot of foodie segments. Her kids are both darlings, the older being a tsundere who tends to overworry and the younger being a cute and spoiled bundle of joy. Her love interest seems like a really nice guy, though at first he really was just thirsting after her home-cooked meals. Their romance isn't all that dramatic and mainly about spending time with the kids (including the love interest's nephew). Angst in the series was always felt by the ex-husband who left her but there are no major altercations between him and the Male lead. To that degree, I think that was a really good move cuz they were both adults in their 30s. Being hot-blooded and fighting over a woman would've been in poor taste. Nonetheless, I like how he was integrated in the story as well. Though I find the ending with Shangshan (her daughter) a little rushed, the rest was quite good. I only wish we got to see how the MC and ML took care of their new baby in the family! All in all, a good read though if you want something simple and light! <<less

It focuses on family and the romance part just like passing. The story itself just flowing, light and fluffy, without any conflict whatsoever.

I like how Yiyi and Shanshan got their own happiness, but other than that, the ending of this novel is kinda rushed. But at least, not like other transmigration cannon fodder novel, the original FL seems like a good person.

Give high rating because I love reading I love reading about cooking and foods.

General: 7.5/10

A warm novel related to entertainment industry (although it is only a background for the sweet and funny story). A good read for a change of pace and calming down.

Translation: 9/10

... more>> A good quality translation.

Plot:

+warm story with happy ending

+karma without dog-blood drama

+focus on daily lives and situations more than action

+comedy

+well written characters

+quite good for an entertainment novel

+short, yet satisfactory

-sometimes just glosses over things

-could give more time for Lu Mingzhe and Lin Yuran

+/-very idealistic and a bit naive (well, it is a novel so I don't expect realism. I wish life was so kind to me ;)) <<less
