It was gold until romance chapter. After that, it was self obsessed hero play. Romance chapter is the worse. The author ahould aimplu delete the romanxlce arc. If you want to read I am the hero type, saviour type maybe this is cup if tea. The best arc is at level 11, then murim world. After that it is downhill.

It’s quite interesting until the romance arc. The main character is definitely a bit unhinged, and definitely has a hero complex. Those are his greatest flaws, his greatest strengths, and what ultimately makes him interesting as a character. He wants the “perfect clear” with zero casualties everything perfect. Whether this is because he want to be a “hero” or because he is genuinely a nice person is unclear. There were many nice plot twists I didn’t see coming, and emotional developments I found touching. However. The Raviel romance arc completely... more>> broke any connection I felt with the character. He was incredibly OOC, and his priorities completely rearranged themselves around his love at first contact. I eventually powered through it and it seems to just be back to normal as if he never fell in love in a day and did all this crazy stuff just to be with a girl who he eventually marries. Honestly, it feels like another story got inserted into the middle, and it isn’t a particularly good romance either. <<less

Book arc is so boring. There seem to be people who think that confusing= 'deep' and 'feels'. Hate to break it to ya but no, the writing is convoluted.

As a result of this waddling around, the author spends an inordinate amount of time in this boring book arc compared to the other portions of the novel.

Remember the times when for school writing assignments you had to hit a certain word count but you were considerably lower so you whip up sum bs? The author is the master at that.

Until the romance arc, I would have rated it five stars.

Starting from then, it felt like the author was bored of his story and characters, so he just put the original story on hold and started writing short stories with the protagonist nominally as the protagonist of the other stories. While I didn't mind them on their own, and wouldn't have minded them as part of the main story, it completely broke the flow to set aside everything that had been built up to that point to have several of... more>> those arcs back-to-back while abandoning the vast majority of characters and settings that existed up to that point.

While that series of arcs is over, I just lost my motivation to read more - if it happens once, will it happen again? Will any character other than the main character be relevant to the story for more than one arc? Will the setting keep abruptly changing each arc? Will the main character keep abruptly changing each arc to suit the arc?

These are questions I don't need answers for because I'm done. <<less

MC is a super weak, pathetic, jealous hunter with aspirations but not actually willing to put in the work.

He then suddenly gains an OP skill, followed by another OP skill that perfectly compliments his other OP skill, thus effectively making him unable to die.

That is lame and boring af. Death is treated as a joke and we can see him treating his life so casually just to "save everyone." I'm not sure where this motivation to save everyone and be there hero of humanity came from. It's not like he... more>> was a good person to begin with, nor did he go through trial and tribulations to home his character and grow his morals.

Plus, the way the novel is written, the grammar, the plot, the world building, the characters and their dialogue, boring. Lame. Bland. <<less

Protagonist gets a useless skill:

"After dying you can copy one of the skills of whoever killed you (at random) and make it yours. You cannot copy a skill from someone that has killed you before."

Note the limitation on the skill. It makes no sense for, as Shirou would explain, "People die when they are killed, " and the skill does absolutely nothing to revive you.

Spoiler

But then he goes out, promptly stumbles across the strongest, and most famous, hunter in the world - who just happened to be in the process of mu*dering the most beautiful huntress in the world in a back alley - and gets mu*dered by him too.

[collapse]

So he died.

The story would be over. Honestly, the story should be over (seems like it'd be doing us a favor).

But no, in the most absurd instance of Deus ex Machina I've read in years, the random skill he gets from his killer rewinds time by 24 hours every time you die, keeping all your memories and skills. No limitations.

The second skill would be OP enough on its own, but now his first skill is absurd too.

Note how the sole limitation placed on his first skill (that you can only copy a skill from someone the first time they kill you) suddenly makes sense. Writing doesn't get more contrived than this, folks. <<less

Novel with the story plot, it is good and entertaining, I will recommend this, but sadly I have to drop this novel for a while, the reason is second part of Library arc i.e. 23rd floor.

I hate romance, this arc showers his first lover silver lily, and it's too much romance I don't know about other readers but I cant handle this for a while, well it's for another day ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

But I still recommend this novel

... more>> Pros that I know-

MC is absolute Madman

He's Smart too

A little bit comedy here and there with that gorilla guy

He is dedicated to the floor tasks as much as to suffer himself to learn from the master

It's Sad too 😭 I cried 4 times but still satisfying

Cons-

Haven't noticed major of them until now

MC is a pipsqueak in front of his new lover and acts total s*upid (one of the reasons for diminishing my faith in him by 10%)

Ah after the 122 ch idk...

I will read it later, bye <<less

This novel to me is the same as Regressor Instruction Manual. A "evil" edgy lord MC who have the biggest brain in the world.

Just like in a few reviews here, the author forcefully makes the side-characters dumb so our dear protagonist can be the Smart Guy who will solve everything with his big brain. The MC was just your ordinary, average nobody for like 30+ years until he gets a cheat skill, get luck to get another cheat skill and than for GOD KNOWS WHY he is now the coolest... more>> and smartest kid in the neighborhood.

SSS-Class su*cide Hunter is just a low-quality product at best. Not even worth for pass-time. <<less

This novel is beautiful. At first I wasn't particularly invested but the drawing were beautiful (I began with the manwha) then once I began the novel, I was just searching for something to waste time. But OMG. After I reached the first boss (10th floor) I finally understood the potential of this story. Now I am currently on the twenty two floor and I literally cried during the murim arc. This is definitely one of the best stories ever. People speak about the MC being a wannabe hero and all.... more>> This is their freedom. But the MC ain't edgy. He is great. He is someone willing to sacrifice many things to help someone. Perhaps it's cringe for some people but for me it's beautiful. The evolution from a envious bastard to what he is now was marvelous. One of the best characters growth. If I have to give a comparaison. Then think of Grid from overgeared. <<less

SSS class su*cide hunter manages to create a refreshing KR dungeon type novel experience. It reminds me a lot of omniscient reader's viewpoint, so if you like that novel, check out this one. There are a few parallels.

Anyways, I this novel does a pretty good job of creating the personality of the MC. Of course, his personality is kind of all over the place in the beginning, but a lot of what the story is about is learning what the MC's personality is like and how he begins to mature... more>> as a character as the story goes on. The novel puts some surprisingly heavy themes sometimes, but it also has some focus on the comedy in the novel, and this is where his companion is very important in one, having another perspective of what the MC is going through, but also, as a respite to all the bad things that happen to the MC. Perhaps it is his presence that allows the MC to stay sane and keep on going.

The MC shoots for everyone to be happy and no one dying, vowing himself to those goals. Of course, his goal that he set out to do after the initial few chapters after getting his powers was also just kind of just out of the blue and never really was explained, but the novel highlights his determination to do so. Anyways, it really kind of grinds my gears when a MC's goal is to "save everyone with no causality." The MC kills and fights other people, yet he still says that. Alright, even naruto of all people has a self reflection arc about this topic, and manages to overcome this naïve way of thinking. It's just kind of ridiculous that there will be no one dying, and everyone living when it's pretty clear that everyone is fighting with their lives on the line, and this is where the OP powers become a nuisance to the story, since the MC actually has the power to change that, but it's all so uncanny.

I also think that despite having an OP power, the novel never puts it like the MC is just superior to other people, but rather, that there's always a bigger fish in the pond. This of course, is in part of the fact that the MC doesn't really crave for power, because we all know that if the MC wanted to, he abuse his power to become one of the most OP players in the novel. It's a bit of a plot hole, but nonetheless, this is a novel where you sit through the well thought out narrative, even if it is a little unrealistic at times. What keeps this novel going for me is how well crafted the individual floors are and how the MC manages to cross them and overcome, and the people he meets on the way towards overcoming the floors. I like how the personality of the MC progresses each floor, and also how he isn't completely sane. Pair this with how the MC goes about clearing each floor, and how each floor has to be cleared a different way, this novel becomes pretty good.

There are clear flaws in the novel, but progression that the MC makes is a pleasure to read and makes you brush aside the other lacking traits of the novel. <<less

I’ve read reviews that said the story went stale (honestly that’s expected of Korean Novels), however the beginning sequence was one of the most metal, bad-ass, and simply heroic passages I’ve ever had the pleasure of partaking in. Even if the story tanks, I’m so glad that I’ve bared witness to such a masterpiece of an opening. Until the story gets stale, 5 Stars!

interesting so far, I hope they don't drop it.

on a grammar note, I'm not sure who started spreading this but 'Saintess' is not an actual word. Both the male and female version of the word is Saint (for example; Saint Brigid of Kildare is one of Ireland's patron female Saints). This 'saintess' thing drives my OCD nuts!

The MC gains an ability to copy an ability from those who kill him. Through luck he found a method of resurrection from an as*hole who killed him. He is now able to return 24 hours from the time of his death but will be mentally traumatized based upon his level of strength. At this point he is a small fry so he has no penalty and in order to exact vengeance, commits su*cide over 4000 times...

Anyway, he begins to climb the tower with this ability... Everything else is a spoiler so I'll keep quiet

This novel is s*upid. The first ark (or preface?) about the MC facing his first enemy was great. But after that the novel progressively becomes worse.

The premise is that each time MC dies, he goes back in time 24 hours. The stronger the MC, the greater the penalty when he dies. The book is full of inconsistencies and cringe moments. Eg when he progresses from E class to F class, what the author calls a penalty is instead clearly a reward. I haven't read up to the part where the... more>> penalties at higher levels are explained, so I don't know if this trend continues.

I feel like the author loses more brain cells the more the MC dies.

Spoiler

Sword Saint was trying to kill the MC due to a misunderstanding (Sword Saint thought MC was an evil assassin). MC simply cleared up the misunderstanding using a friend's lie detection skill and sword Saint started treating him very well and even promised to teach sword techniques etc.

But after MC went back in time, instead of using the same method to convince the sword Saint, he chose a different method in which he has to commit su*cide countless times just to prove that he can see the future. Then he convinces sword Saint to follow him for 5 days and judge for himself whether he is evil. How s*upid is this. Even if he is evil, he could just pretend to be good for 5 days when he knows sword Saint is watching him. How is this supposed to prove anything?

[collapse]

There are a lot of cringe moments in which the author glorifies situations that aren't that noteworthy. The result is that the truly noteworthy events no longer stand out. It's not the situations themselves that are that cringe, but the way the author describes them irks me to no end.

Eg

Spoiler

He's fighting the boss on 12th floor with a sword. He basically dies in one hit and goes back in time 24 hours and repeats. This is how the author describes it:

"

The world stopped, and the only thing providing me with an indication of time in this paused time period, was my sword.

My sword was the only moving object.
For a time to flow in this world, a second of my sword had to flow.
It was only a second from my sword, but this world breathed again with a second.
I could only live for a second even though I wanted to live forever.
I lived my life. "
For context, his sword doesn't have any special time related abilities, and doesn't travel back in time with him. And this isn't even describing the iteration in which he killed the boss. It's just one of the many times he repeated those 24 hours and died to the boss.

So there are 3 main criticisms of this novel: not enough action, complaining about translation choices (shows you how good this novel is if this is what people can only complain about), or that the romance sucks. The only one that isn't somewhat s*upid are the complaints about the romance. It does happen pretty abruptly but if you're even remotely interested in a 1 to 1 romance in stories then you'll definitely like it.

Basically this is as close as it gets to a completely flawless korean web novel. The novel... more>> introduces new concepts each arc and doesn't rely on excessive repetition to keep the story going so it never gets stale. If you like interesting action that isn't endless killing mobs to level up, is smart enough to not get confused over translation choices made to fit with the author's intent, and enjoy a non-harem unorthodox romance with a Female Lead that isn't a trope-fiesta girl then you will definitely not want to miss out on this novel. <<less

What is even the point of this novel. His power is basically to go back to any previous point in time with no penalty or limit whatsoever. Messed up a boss fight? Go back in time. Someone died? Go back in time. There is no stake at all.

Also, what is up with these Korean regression novels that obsess with go back in time and redo everything perfectly. The highest grade you can get from clearing this mission is S-rank? The MC gonna clear the 13 hidden quests, obtain 99 hidden... more>> pieces, unlock the legendary necromancer class and finish the mission with EX-omega-super-ultimate-rank. I'm not talking about this novel in particular, it's just that this novel feels like one of those.

Besides Lord of the Mysteries, this is my favorite webnovel. It's one of a kind, and the synopsis doesn't do it justice.

This is a "climb the tower" story featuring a pseudo time-rewind power. Overpowered protagonists like that are a dime a dozen; there's hardly any question that they'll eventually succeed. So the author wrote a protagonist whose principles are so incredibly lofty that his power just barely measures up to them.

Kim Gongja isn't content with merely climbing the Tower, beating the floors and defeating the bosses. He goes above and... more>> beyond, aiming for a perfect ending each time. He wants to prevent all casualties, save even the NPCs, care for his people, etc. He isn't greedy for power and at multiple points eschews an easy power-up because it would compromise his principles (e.g. If you kill people because you could just turn back time, you'll eventually become the kind of monster that doesn't mind killing people). He tries to shoulder the pain of the world.

And *that* makes for an incredibly compelling story, overpowered character or not.

Besides that, the author is also just a very skilled writer who uses the Tower backdrop to write in a variety of genres, and who brilliantly executes on his ideas:

Spoiler

There's an incredible and touching martial arts story arc that's about resolving the story in a satisfying way instead of about beating anyone up. That's followed by a believable romance story arc, which is almost an impossibility when the protagonist has a Groundhog Day power. Etc.

[collapse]

Highly recommended. <<less

This is one of the few novels that I would go back time and time again and won't feel bored. Honestly, this by far exceeded all my expectations.

I thought this would be a generic Korean fantasy story, something many Korean authors do after the wave of Tutorials or Tower cliches, but oh boy I was wrong. What this series focused upon wasn't the action scenes, or power building or being a Gary Stu character, but it focuses on the emotions and the development of each character, be it the main... more>> or side characters. This is the example that no matter how much of a cliche the setting of the story was, as long as the words that comprised it would move you and get you immersed in a story, it would be one of the finest stories you'll ever read.

As someone who has read many novels, be it fanfictions or webnovels, I strongly recommend this story and you should give it a try. <<less

english is not my first language so please bear with me

I have read the reviews and understood the reasons why some of the readers don't have favorable opinions towards the novel.

They are forgetting something that, this novel emphasize journey and growth (pshycological and physical) rather than ultimate dominance like in most of cliche wuxia and xianxia novels. If you are looking for a novel like emperors domination or something like where MC is evil mastermind like warlock of the magus world then this novel isnt for you.

Without spoilers I will... more>> try to give you brief understand about novel and MC. MC is a seed who is powerless (in the context of physical and mental) at start and he craves for it. When he starts to gain power, scenes unfold and story progresses we start to see the change and its amazing. His feelings, the way he interracts with them and authors beautiful craftsmanships is a sight to behold. <<less
