Sakura was mu*dered by her family.

The place she was born in again was exactly the same place she read about in her favorite novel.

That is, Leycia, a kingdom that coexists with spirits.

The person she was born as was Claudia, a member of the Letsya duke family that commanded the kingdom’s army for generations; and also hated by everyone for the divine protection she received from the dark spirits’ king.

Because of that, Claudia was feared by her surroundings from a very young age and her family had a hard time bringing her up.

In the novel, Claudia was forced to marry into another kingdom in order to bind a peace treaty. But when Leycia opposed to the pact in the last moment, Claudia was taken as a hostage and mu*dered in the enemy kingdom.

Could Sakura who still hold memories of her past life avoid the sorrowful fate of Claudia?

Now this is a novel that I wouldn't read unless I am bored, there are so many things about this novel which have been failed spectacularly. Particularly how the main character is mainly portrayed from the beginning to the end, unlike many other villainesses that I have seen ever since I stepped into the otome type light novels she is sort of weak as a character and that makes me want to compare her to Lv 99 villainous daughter's Yumiela who is in a similar situation and ends up doing... more>> her own thing. I'll explain in the spoilers.

Spoiler

Now this novel fails in executing what Lv 99 Villainous Daughter succeeds the premise is that she is shunned and hated by everyone because of her skin color and hair color, to which if I were to be accurate in some part of that world such people would exist. However unlike actually trying to make herself stronger she ends up just relying on Gerald and her reverse harem and friends way before the heroine had a chance with them. This is what pisses me off we never really get a sense of depth for the heroine, not one bit. Its like oh yeah this fangirl ended up inside of the heroine's body and she is just expecting everything to happen as according to the novel, but she could clearly see that something is different as would any reincarnator inside of any otome game that certain events happened and she might not have the easy route as she always thought she had. This is something I regard as thoughtless writing when you are creating two reincarnators inside of a game setup both of them should have as equal amount of awareness of what the hell is going on just like Katahane no Riku despite it having its own failures and one of the MC being more aware of things, neither of them should be blind in their views because this is the way the video game is supposed to run I didn't like the way she was handled as a character its as if the true heroine and villainess had just switched places and boom the end. It didn't sit right with me about how the author handled each of his characters from a realistic otome deviation standpoint of view its almost ridiculous and making the main character seem to have it "easy" near the end. You see I would want to see the heroine's POV as well know and understand where she's coming from, what she had been doing before she reincarnated. We were given nothing of the sort it was just "There are two reincarnators one good, the other bad. End of story" and the reactions she gave despite being a reincarnator made it more worse to even sympathize with her thus meeting her end and being rejected by her contracted spirit, who I presume didn't guide her and slowly watched her ruin herself because they were two different souls to begin. I would rewrite the entire novel up to the point where the heroine pops up and gets opposed instead of realizing what the situation was and reacting calmly to it tbh I really do think if you read this novel like you would read a fairy tale you wouldn't be too wrong because its just as thoughtless as a fairy tale. That's my review of this dismal novel and I would likely never touch it again because of aforementioned reasons.

I do think this is a decent story to read. It is written and translated well and the pace is okay.

My problem with the story is not the "rejected child" or her skin tone thing; it's the characters themselves. The characters are all very typical archetypes and nothing more. They don't really have depth and the setting isn't gripping enough to make up for it. This honestly feels like a self insert fanfiction made to make the author feel better about themselves.

The quick pace of the story is probably the... more>> reason for a higher rating. Because I will read it just because I have the time.

And I had initially hoped this story would be interesting. It's rare for a Japanese story to actually bring up prejudice over skin tone. Not in the "race"sense but that Japan has a stigma over tanned skin. It either means your a delinquent or your from the hot southern islands (meaning your from the country side). Both are things that make it hard to get a nice office job in Japan. But the novel has the worst approach and then

they even have her blessed to have lighter skin. And this just makes her into another fair skinned Japanese girl because her hair and eye color stay the same.

I can confidently say that I would never re read this. <<less

I came to read this after a break between chapters of the manga and I can’t say I was disappointed. Im very interested in the progression of the plot, knowing that there are only a few chapters left. Im happy that claudia seems to be getting what she’s due ... more>>

although the “fixing” of her skin tone makes me mad, it’s japan so I honestly dont know what I expected if she was gonna get a happy aristocratic princess ending

and I hope it continues like this because there’s still room to fail but so far I enjoy it. It simple isekai romance drama but the MC and supporting cast are good characters with justification for their actions so I enjoy it and quite like the main cast. Claudia’s little support system especially. <<less

I can't stand it anymore, the romance development feels forced, so corny..

The pace of story rushed too much, one-dimensional character, sometimes weird change of POV appears which didnt matter much..

Yep, everyone looks so s*upid, well maybe because this aimed for shoujo so no mind plot blogging involved.. No fluffy either, even if there's after the latest ch I read, I'll only feel corny and disgust after the early development.. Also agree that blessing which change the skin shouldn't appear..

Point plus for translator

The plot is basically THE stock villainess isekai story with almost nothing to set it apart, which means it should really merit a three star 'Yeah whatever' rating. I decided I'd be nice and give it a bonus star because of Claudia however. No, not in that she's cute or entertaining or whatever but because I can read a lot of personality from her. She seems to be obviously suffering from depression and it really affects her POV sections. I always enjoy the perspective of a character who is emotionally... more>> or psychologically abnormal and can drag you into how they see the world and make you understand why they do what they do.

Unfortunately, the story then loses that bonus star for completely breaking the theme of the story. I don't care that the heroine character is shallow and, uh, mentally subnormal since she was just an obvious plot device, but if the actual point of the story is that someone's abilities and appearance don't define who they are then don't change who and what they are to make them fit in better. This should be obvious. I have no idea what the author was thinking.

On a side note, there are a lot of disturbing implications surrounding Gerald that really put the original novel Claudia in a different light if you stop and think about things. Sure, Gerald is always nice to her and protects her, but he's also constantly urging her to commit mass mu*der and is a mass mu*derer himself who almost destroyed the world. I think it's fair to judge him based on that, you know? And doesn't that mean that the original novel Claudia was also holding back this madman and only vented out in mild, petty ways rather than the devastation this demon was always urging her to start? <<less

This book is just read-for-fun type of book. Dont expect much but honestly the way her parents treat her made me sad and since I like angst story this is my instant cup of tea. I can actually say this story almost sum up usual plot in most villainess noble girl novel. Like first everyone hate MC then she did good thing then she finally made some friend, the real heroine got angry and gone crazy while doing some s*upid moves bla bla bla the MC got the happy ending... more>> and real heroine got punished or something ??? The end.

Its cliche to say the least but the detail about mc's parent relationship with her is what interest me the most (cant wait to see her mom's reaction). Sadly, altho she supposed to have the greatest power on her side, she doesnt actually act as op as I hope. I still wait for the next chapters and wish she get what she deserve after holding back during those whole painful years. <<less

This has potential but the twist towards the end undermines the entire point of the established story. Imagine the story of the tortoise and the hare except the tortoise breaks a leg at right before the finish line. The hare limps on to victory.

I love how everyone is trying to attribute her appearance as "racial discrimination". Context of the story: She is not of a different race, so she isn't looked down at for being 'inferior' because she was born a different race. She is discriminated against for having the blessing of the Spirit Kind of Darkness, which caused her to have a dark complexion along with black hair and eyes. She was born of a Duke and Duchess of the kingdom, meaning she isn't another race; the only other "race" mentioned is... more>> Spirits. I agree with the disgust about how her skin turned to white when she gained the blessing of the Light Spirit King, however the instant change of opinion of her beauty was explained through not only context, but also in one of the 'EX' chapters; Things akin to how they are the one who are most likely to betray rather than be loyal and such. As for the Author's disgust and anger for the novel, I agree that it started out strong, and the stress of reading and translating a forced progression love sub-plot would anger me as well (especially with several other story translations on the side). I was severely confused about the Levy-Claudia romance was announced, since the author never once hinted at it nor emphasized their relationship ever progressing beyond friends; and the romance between Edgar (?) and Emily was out of left field even further. Ronald hasn't really been promoted as an architect of wrongdoings or has been shown in any way to be trying to steal Gerald from Claudia as he mentioned in an early chapter. There are dozens of forced events and circumstances that hit out of the blue, and it just makes almost every reader want to strangle the author for sloppy writing; however without failures of works, a writer cannot better themselves, along with the fact that this is promoted more towards younger audiences and casual readers who just want to pass the time (like me).
As a thank you to the translator, I appreciate you suffering through the angst filled story as you made the translation available, I could see some context errors and a few misspelled names here and there, but IDC because they don't ruin the story. For the author (original writer) You can only use this as a stepping stone to write better stories and progress in your chosen field; thank you for contributing to the literary arts with this work, and I hope that your next one will be quite stunning and keep the readers begging for more.
for those who believe this is a tr*sh story, you miss the main points within it: 1 Don't judge a book by it's cover. 2 Kindness isn't always rewarded with gratitude. 3 If you get reincarnated with your memories in tact as a villain (ess) or hero (ine), from a story/manga/anime, dont think things will go your way just because you know the contents of the plot; because it would have become reality for you at that point, and you cannot change actions that you have already made. 4 Be kind to you friendly neighborhood OP magic/spirit user. 5 Spirits are not tools. <<less

Ehm yea, it’s not really good.

I mean I liked the idea because it was different for once and the MC had some kind of OP power but it literally didn’t even go that way.

the Characters are unreasonable and just plain dumb, even the crown prince is dumb.

... more>> the only character I liked was the Brother Of hers.

the Story is Boring and what’s even more frustrating is that it could’ve been a really good one...

im just disappointed in the ending and how the story even continued.

2 Stars Because of the Translation (Many Thanks for it, it was really easy to understand) and for the IDEA of the Story but not for the implementation.

hope this helped ya <<less

This series begins in a good way. MC is not accepted by anyone, except of a few people, because of her special power (which she'd never choose). The angst is good, and MC's an easy-to-forgive-people type of person, which make her likeable and symphatizeable.

HOWEVER!

One of the things I don't really like about this story is the pace. It's too damn fast. I found that ... more>>

suddenly (in chp 10) the war is already over? We never see how MC done everything in the war except from one sentence said by one of the knights. It's like the author had no idea about how the war goes and only wanted to jump directly to the afterwards.

[collapse]

Rather disappointing, I would say, because I think the story would be much more interesting if the overall is told by more details and without sudden time-jumps. This is rather sufficient for a quick read, though. That's why I dared to give this 4 star. But if I have to buy the book, I would politely decline.

Still, thumbs up for the translators! You guys do a great job! <<less

I found it really cute and well written. I love how the main character is slowly developing and I find it absolutely believable how she reacts to her brother due to her past and current conditions

the fact that her skin color changes does put me out a bit but I think its more of a cultural dissonance than anything but it shouldnt have made it into the novel itself due to its sensitive nature
