Kisses Make Me Grow Taller

Description

Due to an experiment that ended in failure, the genius physicist Bai Rong, traveled to the interstellar era thousands of years later, and had unexpectedly shrunken down into the size of a tiny tiny man who was barely the size of a palm…

After quickly being treated as a cute and obedient star pet, he was sent off to be auctioned and was even bought out by a man who appeared to be extremely terrifying and violent….

[After having just been bought] Bai Rong (takes cat paw gloves off in rage): Damn it! If anybody wants to sell meng*, they can do it themselves! In any case, I’m not going to do it!

[After discovering that He! Can! Grow! Taller! After! Touching! The man!] Bai Rong (pulls out the cat ears that had been thrown to the bottom of the bed and wears it seriously + puts on a well-behaved innocent face): I … I’m very behaved and cute. If you’d like, you can touch me more … hug me more …and…and….kiss me more!

*To sell meng: To act cute

Fluffballs 8.5/10. Is this a really good story? Debatable. Is this a really bad story? Not really but it's biggest redeeming quality is the fluff. People who don't like MCs with golden fingers should probably stay away from this novel because almost everything comes easily to MC.

Overall Rating: 3/5 but + 1 because of fluff so 4/5

Characters: 4/5
Bai Rong, your MC, is your standard OP character who pretends to be really manly when he's actually really MOE, and your ML, Mu Chongyan is your standard kuudere character who dotes... more>> on the MC. For some reason, I find ML to be really bland as compared to other MLs. I also really didn't like the villains in this novel because they felt so shallow I didn't see the point in having them. At least, there are a lot of shippable characters in this novel.

Story: 4/5
I really liked this story at the start because the fluff game was so strong! Especially with MC trying to sell meng to ML (secretly touching ML and even asking for kisses kyaaa) while MC thinks ML doesn't know but he does in fact know and tries to keep a stiff face. The story also develops ok until we reached the middle part around ch 80 where villains' plot is exposed. I skimmed this part because it got so draggy I was beginning to lose interest. Then, the pace started to pick back up around ch 100 when MC nearly reaches his full height again (yes it took 100 chapters) and the fluff pumps back up again.

Writing:2/5
I didn't realize this until I started translating it myself but I have three major issues with the author's style of writing. (It's a personal peeve)
Spoiler

1. Overused sentence structure
Author has this distinctive liking of using the particular sentence structure. 'After/While/some description doing xxxx, MC/ML does xxxx and xxx' It doesn't seem to be much and it's alright if it's sprinkled throughout the chapter but in this author's case, it happens for almost consecutive paragraphs, and it bugs me so much during translations.

2. Redundant use of words
The word 'pronouns' apparently doesn't exist in the author's dictionary. An example of this is using specific long terms or descriptions such as 'AS Virtual Spell Card Union' are reused 3 to 4 times in one paragraph, making it unnecessarily long and redundant.

3. Too many unnecessary details
A detailed story is nice yes, but overly detailed sentences that don't really add value is just making extra workload for the translator (also it makes the sentence sounds so long and clunky)

Not my cup of tea personally. The author tries to convince the reader that the MC has a super high IQ but he doesn't seem to really act like it. He can learn how to make power cards easily but in every other aspect his IQ and EQ seem to be in the negative range.

Also, the author has this running joke of how the MC views himself as this manly big muscle man when he's this super cute chibi figure. It was amusing at first but the joke got old... more>> pretty quickly. It's used almost every other paragraph how he's convinced hes all tough and manly and then he cowers and gets frightened within the next couple sentences.

If you don't mind these things then the story is actually pretty okay to read but for me it got a bit tedious. It's all up to personal preference. Maybe when I get super bored and have nothing else to read I'll finish this but for now I'm dropping. <<less

The MC is a little chibi with a negative EQ and super high IQ. He's great at learning how to pilot mechas and making energy cards but he's an idiot when it comes to anything else. The author can't seem to decide if MC is an idiot or a genius. He pretends to be a star pet (a robot) and the ML is his owner. The ML doesn't think anything is wrong with his pet even when MC is acting completely different from a pet. He just thinks that his... more>> pet should be perfect because he's his pet. It's cute at first but it gets kind of old when that's the excuse for everything the MC does wrong. <<less

It's very fluffy!!

This novel is an HE

(Happy Ending)

The MC is so meng.

I just can't get over how his image of a "tough guy" is. ? I mean, he looks soft and cute but he thinks that his image should be very masculine with a moustache guy. The MC thinks that he's the one who's attacking and calls the ML his "wife"

I can't. ???? He's quite simple since the MC was a product of experiment grown babies. He was never close to his parents and he was always involved in lab works, so he's pretty much clueless and naive when it comes to romance.

But it seemed that he didn't question his sexuality since when he accidentally saw the ML naked/half naked (mtl guys, it's a bit confusing) the MC said to himself that "a man must take responsibility." so as the main attacker, he'll be responsible for his "wife" ? (He's probably corrupyed the the dramas that he just recently watched. The MC was influenced by this since it's his first time watching tv dramas. It was like another lesson in life for him. The ML was like: "No, these things will corrupt you." ?)

The MC, Bai Rong is the shou.

Now, for the ML, Mu Chongyan.

I like his setting. He's very cold but soft at heart and was confused at his feelings at first since it's his 1st time liking something (someone). And to be able to feel something like love for a "star pet" is really admirable. He's considerate towards our MC but his *coughs* pe*verted ways *coughs* get exposed once the ML and MC confirm their love.

Mini Spoiler

Spoiler

I think that this will be the ML's fetish. Lol.

When the MC was still a small star pet, he usually wears cute attires.

A tiger, shark, dinosaur, orange cat, etc.

The ML remembered it once the MC mentioned that he missed it.

But then the ML's mind went to the 'zone' ? He imagined our MC wearing animal ears, paws, and tail while being naked.

It almost made the ML have a nosebleed. (He bought so many costumes, omg!)

And he duped the MC into thinking that only a "tough guy" can wear the costumes since it's pretty revealing once the MC asked why it was so different from the costumes he used to wear.

[collapse]

The only questionable things that I see?

1.) The MC was experimenting something before he transmigrated, right? But after that, there was not much mentioned about it. The field that he took was very different from what he was used to. (It's quite understandable once you think about it as the MC finding something that he likes to do) The MC was quite OP with this since he has a super memmory.

2.) The ML's background. It was mentioned that the ML was still a college student but already fought a war so he planned to file an advance graduation slip something. This continued on for many chapters since a lot happened and was only settled midway.

3.) The Star Pets. There were other star pets that were mentioned. Like Wald's star pet (The ML's best friend) but after the MC grew to a certain height, no star pets were mentioned. Except for Kuku. (He's very cute btw.)

So far, that was all the things that stood out to me. And yes, this is a smooth flowing, no heavy drama novel.

The bad guys are really meant to be hated. I agree that the psycho guy at the end of the novel is really worth hating.

Some characters were redeemed but still not forgivable.

I do like the side couple parings. They're so cute.

MINI SPOILER!!!

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

This is an mpreg (?) well, males can have a test tube baby so male couples can have their own baby and choose the gender.

I just have to say that it's quite funny since when the ML's family was like: "So when are you going to have a baby?"

The ML ate vinegar. He didn't want to have one in like 30 years since he felt that his time with the MC is not enough. ? I think that they had one 50 years later. ? The lifespan if the interstellar people are long so it's understandable.

Sickeningly sweet, and not in the good way. Really long review (rant)

MC is supposedly a genius with a huge IQ - developed by his parents purely so he would be a genius researcher (which he was). But then he wears cat costumes and play pretends as a "manly man"???? Im honestly very confused. Having a low EQ is fine, plenty of the smartest people in existence have low EQ and struggle with social interaction. But this goes beyond EQ lol. MC acts like a 3-6 year old child, except we also get told that hes a scientific genius, can learn a new language in a few days and
Spoiler

become a S level spell card master with a 100% success rate in like a week. Its simply not the same character.

[collapse]
The MC who skips sleep to learn a language over night is not the same MC who wears a dinosaur onesie with a thick tail so that Kuku cant slap his ass.

To summarize: characterization fail, author couldnt even keep a checklist of MCs traits without f*cking it up.

Spoiler is me ripping into this novels world setting <- mainly the very questionable existance of star pets and their functions (+ our lovely ML who falls in love with a humanoid barbie doll)
Spoiler

On that note, dont read if youre uncomfortable with what is borderline an age play fetish. MC gets treated like, and acts like a child - playing children's games on the computer and dressing up with paws, tail and ears included (despite having normal clothes - bec I remember the clothes he wore at first author! Dont think I dont remember that he still has them!). He's taken to a playground of star pets, and instead of any monologue about how he has literally been brought to a children's playground with swings and slides, his thoughts instead is about how he's taller than the star pets and how hes happy about it?? Where'd the high IQ go author? Where's the "Im going to learn interstellar coding within a day on a whim" MC?

Ignoring author not being able to decide between MC being OP and being a literal toddler - He turns back at like chap 70-80. And it takes a looooooot of "hehe we're in love oook kiss me hug me look im so cute let me shake my bu*t so u can think about how cute I am" before we get there. Not worth it. I genuinely got nauseous from whatever author's idea of cute is.

Im actually fairly sure ML is the first one who experienced "fond" feelings for MC (despite MC constantly going on about love and his wife), whereas MC only cared about him after figuring out that he needed to interact to grow. But was it romantic? Ehhhhh its up for debate. ML definitely shows romantic love towards MC, we can see it by how he automatically feels after seeing 170cm MC, its still the same emotions except this time he doesnt fool anyone by thinking its just familial love. But is it weird? Yes. Hell yes. ML canonically has a micro fetish and I will stick by that. Not only does he think MC is a literal robot doll, but MC is also the length of his forearm. ML is a s*xual deviant. It just so happens that MC is a human - but MLs feelings were developed based off the knowledge that MC is a 30cm tall AI doll. Not only that, but a 30cm tall AI doll who dresses up in animal costumes, ears, tail and paws included. ML is a certified, legally qualified, Board approved, f.r.e.a.k.

Also not to go too deep into what is essentially a micro doll fetish novel, but why is having AI dolls a normal thing in this. Grown men spend millions on buying forearm size robots that look like attractive teenage boys dressed in animal costumes? Not only that, but these robots grow to 100cm over time? Why is that a feature. Who commissioned the manufacturers to make their literal human dolls grow bigger. And why. I really dont like to think about this. But why do they need to be bigger than a doll unless youre going to use them for certain activities. I hate it and I hate that the author needed to make them "grow".

On that note, star pets are AIs. We know this, the characters know this. And we've been told that theyre not necessarily very smart AIs either (ignoring Kukus sudden intelligence). From ML being surprised at MC doing toned-down versions of normal human things to being told to just get him reprogrammed when he didnt know the language (so no learning capabilities past preprogrammed hobbies?). So why are there things like playgrounds and toys for them? Their capabilities are limited to what they are manufactured to do - they are essentially furbies and fake dog toys that walk and bark - so why are there facilities that cater to their recreational "needs"?

Which grown ass rich men are taking their 4 pretty teen boy dolls to have fun with their 50 clones at the public playground? Honestly feels like the author forgot that star pets are AI robots, and dumb ones at that, and started thinking that they were literal children you buy clothes and toys for

[collapse]

Honestly id love to go into the plot of this, but there isnt really any. Theres the whole virtual world, mecha sh*t and hacking thing - but that barely shows up before half way through - so you'd need to get past all of the weird sh*t before you can even start caring about the plot, which isnt that good anyway.

and Kuku? Forgot about him for a second but he is
Spoiler

the only star pet we actually see in the latter half lol - he also gets smarter, and becomes smarter than MC. To the point that he reflects on his brother being below average IQ/a bit s*upid multiple times. If that doesnt tell you how great our MCs "smart scientist" character is, I dont know what will

[collapse]

———————————————————

And finally, my main point. Read this paragraph even if you skip the others because I really only wrote this review (cough rant cough) to say this. MC after chapter 5 is not the same MC chapter 1.

Spoiler

Chapter 1 MC was annoyed, disgusted and weirded out by the world's natives. He was scared but ruthless and calculated the best way to stay safe, he had a hypothesis on how to get his normal body back, and he tested that hypothesis. Chapter 1 MC was specifically picked by ML after ML saw the contempt in MCs eyes when he looked at the auction workers.

Current MC rubs his hands and face against MLs hands to be cute. Current MC suddenly changes his opinion on the animal costumes being creepy and even likes them. Current MC practically skips over to ML when he sees him. Current MC plays toddlers games on his computer. Current MC poses infront of the mirror in tiger costumes. Current MC calls ML his wife, and roleplays (f*cking roleplays!) being a strong, muscular husband in his mind.

[collapse]

These are not the same character. They are not. The only reason I ever read past the summary was because of Chapter 1 MC, and Obviously it was MLs reason for getting MC too, but then MC becomes the cliche, s*upidly generic "cute MC" we see in half of these Cnovels. Our chapter 1 "oh no he has to pretend to be a star pet or its off to the research center for him" MC becomes "Oh hes practically just Kuku but with a different name" MC

———————————————————

Its a bit much for me on the "pretty teen boy dolls dressed up in lion costumes". If youre okay with that go ahead though, but dont expect much other than what you see in the first 10 chapters repeated over and over again until practically the very end of the novel.

If you're craving fluff then this is your go to. MC is doted on and spoiled by ML from the get go. MC finds amazing abilities that helps to make money (not that they need it). Basically the leads are winners in life. It is a fun, easy read, no conflict or misunderstanding among the leads. Bad guys are unapologeticly bad, you are free to hate them. Especially that one dude towards the end, author outdid herself with that loony.

Down side - all the crabs walking across the page. Also,... more>> MC is liked/ coveted/ admired by everyone. It gets a tad annoying. Just a tad.

Only MTL if you are hardcore, or don't need to English in your daily life. <<less

I've been watching the rating go from 4.2 to 3.7, and I've decided to help it along.

From the few first chapters, what I expected:

a socially awkward MC with a methodical and "experimental" way of acting; high IQ low EQ. Because he figured getting kisses can help him grow, he watched cliches and dog-blooded dramas to "research" how people get kisses. He also thought of ways to be "cute". Anyways, a serious, probably kind of cold type of person who was forced to act contrary. As someone who was locked in... more>> the lab all his life without ever receiving love, this doesn't simply fall as "an innocent person".

What I got:

a mentally-ill delusional dude akin to someone suffering from anorexia who can't seem to notice that his size, muscle mass and weight is all wrong. He, who at the beginning didn't even understand what love is, became someone who only thought of love and making ML his "wife".

... ok, that's a bit harsh, so let me retry...

What I got: an air headed dude who seems to only specialize in card making.

...I was hoping so much for something like hilarious misunderstandings/shenanigans about ML friends and families misunderstanding the latter's interest because of the way his "humanoid pet" was acting or something like awkward teasing from ML as he watches MC try to act cute...

Anyways, I give 3 stars for the fact that if the MC was separated into 2 different protagonist, I probably would've given 5 for both stories just for the fluff... <<less

I'll begin with saying that I can see where people are coming from claiming this is a cute and fluffy novel.

HOWEVER. The premise of the novel is that humanoid robotic pets are the top favorite and most popular pet to raise at home? And the standard "cute" is these creepy as all hell little dolls that can grow up to a whole meter in height and wears little animal onesies and outfits? Listen, I've had furbies before and I'm already creeped out when it asks for attention and play. I'll... more>> be ready to burn the house down if a tiny humanoid thing came running to me for attention and playtime. The sheer lack of believability that animal robots (or, you know, real animal pets) rank somehow lower than tiny humans who aren't even chibi-esque completely ruins the novel for me from the getgo.

But let's also dive into the actual story. The MC is your standard dumb!cute style. But there's no continuity to when he has common sense and when he's plain ret*rded. You can't have him be s*upid one chapter and then genius in matter about relationships the next. There's a one liner about how his parents basically made him for and abandoned him to scientific research. But he is comfortable making casual observations and commentary about ML and his relationship with his mother? He never had a chance to make friends due to his duties and research and is strongly implied to have some kind of social impairment but he's completely natural and comfortable with making bosom buddies with literally the first person he runs into in a online game? And no social awkwardness or disconnect? But he can't bring himself to give a damn about the ML in any way other than food and the imaginary relationship he fantasizes about when convenient?

Not to mention how absolutely flat all side characters are. And how absolutely lacking the story is. Character development? Plot? Meaningful character interactions? Actual personalities? Emotional attachment to them? None, nada, zero.

So without my bias against the very concept of humanoid pets that are "cute" and not completely uncanny valley and/or s*xual on a social cultural level in the novel world, it's already a 2/5 star. With my bias, it's only a 1 star because we can't rate things 0/5. <<less

3.7 stars. What I didn't like about the story.
    • ML being unreasonably jealous towards the end if MC so much as pay attention to another guy for more than 10 seconds.
    • MC wanting to top because of his "manly" self-image but ML ALWAYS managing to con MC out of it.
    • MC's supposed high IQ but always falling for ML's cons.
    • How, other than one time, no one wondered or asked what happened to the star pet ML had ABSOLUTELY ADORED, or where normal size MC came from.
    • The main antagonist that managed to elude ML and his genius hacker for all of 100+ chapters was killed in a few sentences within the last few chapters. -_- Antagonist was a sicko so to die anti-climactically was sad.
It is cute but it gets old towards the end, but I've read worst. So 3.7 stars because I liked it more than I hated it.

This gets a high rating in large part due to the translator's excellent work.

Overall, not a special story, but one that is fluffy, cute, slice-of-life-ish that you can use to pass the time.

I feel like there were a lot of logic/plot holes, but then some of them are very common in this type of chinese interstellar fiction

Spoiler

for example, it's beyond weird that "the virtual world" is literally like a parallel world where you have to pay real money to "rent virtual homes" in virtual cities, and for some reason, body and facial customizations are completely locked. I really can't imagine any future Metaverse with such ridiculous limitations.

but this isn't the first time such a strangely absurd system has shown up in this style of novel.

also the entire virtual arc is basically just dropped (nobody ever wonders why tough guy's store never got restocked???) and replaced by a random leveling up in foreign planet arc (which don't get me wrong, I semi-enjoyed), but the whole time I was wondering why the characters never discussed or even remotely mentioned that they wanted to get home (fyi, their home planet is in the middle of a terrorist attack and war and they're like, killing tigers for pennies) until the very end of the arc

[collapse]

I have pretty low expectations of BL-novels clearly written for fangirls/women to fantasize about, but my pet peeve is really authors who are obsessed with top/bottom tropes -- like the shorter person or the physically weaker person can never be the "top" in the relationship. seriously?

but anyway, that's basically The Running Gag in this novel. Like from first chapter to last chapter, it's everywhere. Not as annoying as I expected it to be, but just... be warned.

Anyway, the only thing that got me through the novel was the excellent translator, seriously, really great and smooth translations that didn't make me want to carve my brain out with a spork. <<less

I'll be honest...I skipped over 20 chapters because I wanted to see the MC at a normal height already, and it was taking so freaking long. Don't get me wrong, this novel is very adorable, and I loved seeing the MC and ML getting closer and more affectionate with each other with each chapter. But I just couldn't bring myself to ship the MC that was barely the size of a finger with the 193cm tall ML lolol.

Fortunately, as much as MC has seen ML as his wife (even though... more>> MC is the least dominant person ever XD) since he was still extremely small, ML only recognized his romantic feelings for MC after he had already reached 170cm tall (even ML knows it was weird to have romantic thoughts for someone that fits in the palm of your hand lol). And contrary to what I imagined, ML didn't hesitate or try to deny it, he simply accepted "Yep. I'm in love. MC is mine and I won't let anyone steal him from me."

I know that to some people it might seem like ML became possessive quite suddenly, but to me, it was no surprise lol. ML was always protective of MC even when he still saw him as his little star pet. Let other people kiss or hug MC? Totally unacceptable. ML was fully aware that his little star pet was extremely cute and that other people couldn't help but want to touch him, but even so, it's HIS little star pet! Only he can kiss and hold him.

And now that MC has grown up and ML knows he is a human, ML has realized how attractive his "little sweet cake" is and that people might try to take him away from him. He has no reason to hold back lolol.

Anyway, this story is really adorable, and as much as it has some angst moments, overall it's just cute interactions of MC and ML and their unconditional love for each other. If you want a not-too-serious novel to read and relax (like me lol), this one is perfect for you. <<less

...I don't relate to the low rating. I don't get why the low rating...!

This novel is mostly fluff! I said mostly because apparently the plot is so much more than just MC grow bigger and taller. More than just MC being Genius but also Cute Naive protagonist.

There's big Plot about ML and his family. Which is intriguing!

If people dislike the story because Naive MC, well, don't read it. If people think MC's naive personality is weird, then you must not have read the story carefully. I mean since the beginning,... more>> the novel already Explain WHY MC's personality was like this. How he born and grown up. He lack knowledge of many things.

MC's idea of being a Tough Guy and think he's Tough Guy is probably because his lack of common sense from the past. And ML indulged him. So, all of it actually make sense for his Characteristic and the Novel. And it doesn't make the novel weird, it was Cute and Adorkable!

Anyway, yeah, I can't relate to the low rating.

And when I keep going, we even get the Family feelings moments even when it was just short and very few, but it was very Good and makes me smile happily!

Pray soooo hard the rest of the story is Good and the translation would keep going!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Finished at 29 December 2022:

It's been so long since I read this novel, so I don't remember well if ML always this Sly and know about MC's 'view' of certain things and tried to make him thing differently in Secretive way. Hmmm 🤔

Also Apparently many people didn't get MC's (and even ML's) personality based on the story alone to end up make the author wrote in their note explaining again WHY MC and ML act the way they are?!? I read that author note and goes "???" confused with the fact author need to explain it when the story is not hard to understand to begin with.

Anyway the author delivers the story nicely till end! And the extras make it Super Completed! Chefkiss. jpg

I have been struggling getting this far reading the novel and I finally gave up at chapter 80. There was no particular reason for why I decided to drop the novel at that exact point. Rather it was because of accumulated fatigue, I guess.

My growing dislike for the MC just ate away at my willpower to read on. I have never been overly fond of the silly and cute type. But I didn't know how much I could dislike this type of character in an MC. I used to... more>> be able to tolerate these kinds of Mary Sue, silly white lotus characters more when I was younger. But now that I'm older, I realized just how unrealistic and annoying they can be, especially when they behave so silly to the degree that I doubt not only their EQ but also IQ despite the author claiming them to be geniuses. F*** it. I will just say it out straight.

Bai Rong (the MC) is a gullible, simple-minded toddler with questionable aesthetics and delusions of grandeur, imagining himself being some buff, manly and tough man when he is a soft fur ball with an inferiority complex who bursts into tears whenever he is faced with the reality that he is but a tiny nugget compared to others. The discrepancy between his self image and reality might have been cute in the beginning. But it gets old real fast. At times I found myself wanting to grab him and slap/shake him awake or wanting to kick Mu Chongyan (the ML) for enabling those delusions.

Just writing about it irritates me again. So yeah, I deemed it to be a better choice for my mental and physical health not to read on as I felt like I was gonna develop high blood pressure from the stress and suffocating feeling in my chest that the MC gave me by being annoying af. <<less

I'm afraid my take on the main character is slightly different from most reviews. He's supposed to be a genius, but it does specify that he never had what could be called a childhood. The developmental situations that hone a person's character, as well as their perception of people and the environment around them, never happened. As such, the extreme childishness and immaturity representative of a pre-adolescent juvenile... is actually something I can understand, no matter how much contempt I want to have for the character because of it. He... more>> doesn't act or think like an adult, because he's never learned to be one. In addition, the author designed him to be an absurdly unrealistic talent, who succeeds at everything without any effort. He has no challenges to deal with, no setbacks to learn from, and has been too coddled to ever suffer or learn from the justified contempt of others.

That said, my main problem with the story is the author's inconsistency and failure to create a logical setting. It really comes out in the later story, but exists throughout. The author can't keep their 'virtual world' and their 'real world' in the story separate. There are glaring, gaping plot holes that have no excuse, where objects created in the virtual world suddenly exist in the real world as a major plot icon. There are problems all through the story, but this one is really an inexcusable black hole. The main villain's concept is... very childish and exaggerated, I'll only say that. I see in this novel a very common misconception, that being the presumption that just because one person in a pair is larger and stronger than the other, that person must automatically be the 'top' or 'gong'. Each person takes the role they feel most comfortable with. Physical size has nothing to do with it, that's really just a heteros*xual bias which demands that women must be smaller and weaker.

The translation is good, though some names keep flip-flopping or being scrambled up. I feel pretty sorry for the second prince, who is primarily called 'Dross' (when he's not called Delos). After all, 'dross' means 'waste', 'scum' or 'inferior'.

Overall, the story, writing quality and humor are extremely immature. However, as purely a fluff novel with OP characters, a very basic plot and no reliable logic or consistency, it's entertaining. <<less

Although the MC's obsession with being a 'manly tough guy' got quite irritating, I suffered through it and enjoyed everything else about the novel. I recommend it for anyone looking for a light romance novel about an OP couple set in the interstellar. Potato did an excellent job on the translation too, so many thanks to them!

The tough guy trope stopped being cute after a few chapters, sorry but I deeply question this author's sense of humor. It annoyed me to no end, but others might find it cute? There... more>> were quite a few plot holes that were left unfilled as well,
Spoiler

such as MC's strange background as a lab experiment and bio parents, and how Kuku suddenly became human sized on the barren planet, then basically became a human when other similar advanced star pets did not, also the fact that after one conversation no one ever questioned where the Star pet Little Sweet Cake went?? After Chongyan was so obsessed?

Still not enough to stop me from generally enjoying the story. <<less

It's a really cute story with a fairly OP MC and ML. It's well written and has some nice plot, while being overall very fluffy. I would give it more of a 4.5 but it's a really nice read if you are okay with dying a little bit of secondhand embarassment.

I think the author overdid it a little bit with ... more>>
Spoiler

MC's fixation on being a "tough guy", even though he was the absolute opposite of it.

If you like a fairly fluffy story with some plot, some schemes and a powerful ML with a fairly naive MC, this story is perfect for you.

Some minor issues I had with the novel:

Spoiler

I felt like ML accepted his real family a little bit too quick. He never interacted with them before and some natural embarassment would make a lot more sense, especially since he got pretty much mistreated by his "mom". Some parts felt a little bit dragged out and not really essential to the story, especially the part after MC got abducted and then went into the wormhole.

It’s a sweet fluffy wife pampering story. Both protagonists are cute and sweet. The story is the cliche plot, MC, transmigrated, op secret identity, ML endless pampering, major hidden forces, war drama, secret unravel, op wins and sweet fluffy ending etc.. But its not bad. I just want to eat dog food. Lol. Good read. Thank you

I feel like this novel has lowered my IQ significantly... Not even kidding. I lost my braincells everytime I see MC's antics. It was my fault for not looking at the NU page first before reading it straight from the translator's site, I didn't know there's Naive Protagonist tag. MC is a genius with a mental age of a 10 year old. If you're into that then here's the perfect novel for you.

I continued reading it SOLELY because of ML's family drama and the plot about secret forces that tried... more>> to harm him. Chapter 78-79ish was the PEAK enjoyment for me. The chapter that actually excited me, where the plot thickens. I enjoyed the spell card master stuff too, I guess. But it's just MC being overpowered, nothing is really happening.

MC and ML's relationship is really sweet, a lot of dog food. There's not much of a love rival, they're gone before they even started. ML is fine, your typical ice berg tsundere overpowered guy from a distinguished family. MC is also your typical dense pufferfish overpowered pretty boy. And he really thinks like a 10 year old child.

I can't count down on how many times I sighed out loud everytime I read MC talking about being "tough". It's cute at first but it's getting too much. Even after 100+ chapters he still has that toxic masculinity mindset and how he's so obsessed to be the "husband" in the relationship. That's his thing, I guess. It's tiring and hard to read because of that tbh. But I still keep on reading because of ML... I kinda wish the story is in his point of view instead.

Maybe I should rate this lower? But I didn't have the heart to do that because of ML's plot. It's too interesting for me. Hope MC is getting some character development soon. Fingers crossed. <<less
