The Series starts off pretty good, then ramps up to a pretty decent first climax, the characters get well developed and theres lots of fairly nice interactions.

The big issues become glaring during the 2nd arc, Riol is shown to be hypercompetent and even able to foresee events and schemes, but gets forced by the plot to not take the obvious step that would forever block off all future problems, namely.

Spoiler

Getting engaged to Sharina

[collapse]

This becomes a massive liability for the story and by the end of chapter 39, which is the biggest decline in the story quality, it becomes clear that the author didnt have any intention of going beyond the first arc.

Truly a great series that should have been done with 1 arc, the 2nd arc diminishes the story all around, including the characters. <<less

It was really cute and exciting, but I eventually got tired of how.. brainless and s*upidly evil the villains are. Once you realize that all the villains basically go: nanananna I'm not listening and I'll project my thoughts and beliefs onto the MC and ML...

the story kinda gets less interesting.

The MC is an airhead but really cute, and the ML is quite cool. I still wonder whether the s*upidity of the rest of the cast (most of the cast at least) makes the ML seem smarter than he is...

That said,... more>> the fluff in this story was great, and I like the romance and interactions between the main characters. <<less

Well... I thought this will end up in disaster, but I was wrong— IT'S GOODD I REPEAT IT'S GOOD!

This story is NOT your cliche shojo crown prince who is strong, mighty and abusive X Cherfull girl who had a heart of saint and always cries because misunderstanding (basically it was my fave shojo manga/novel when I was 12)

This story about, not so good looking gloomy baron boy who is poor but genius and had a delicate apperance + short height X Playfull girl who is not so... more>> beautiful but she's cute, and she's so blunt + honest with her love.

ML and MC is sweet, they're so cute and 100% fluffy (ノ*>∀<) ノ♡ I like their chemistry sm.

In the middle maybe you will get bored, but trust me it's worth it:)

The villain is a braindead shit. 1st name is Leonarsh*t and 2nd is Rolashit. Both of them so annoying, pridefull, MF so Narcissist and etc they are made to make the protagonist shiness. They will make your head burn in anger.

But the fluff is over the Top! And ofc Wholesome friendship ;)

RIOL I LOVE YOU ⁄ (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄) ⁄

I think that, besides the obvious charm of the smart and independent protagonist and the underdog love interest sticking together against all odds, the one thing that gets you hooked on this is how hilariously annoying the princes are. For sure they'll make you want to stop reading with how despicable they are, but the driving force of the novel is FINALLY SEEING HOW THEY GET THEIR ASS KICKED. And believe me, when it happens, it'll be immensely satisfying.

Sharina and Riol deliver a very sweet and healthy relationship, without and... more>> drama from their part, and it kind of gives a Scott Pilgrim vs. The World kind of feeling when they have the entire kingdom against them with very few allies but fight their hardest to be with each other.

Spoiler
[collapse]

Also, expecting for the third prince's story to unfold is so exciting! You kind of want the best for him after seeing the mess caused by his siblings and his budding friendship with the MCs. <<less

Ok so im gonna be short with this. Dam this is such a nice love story. Whether it be its length, the characters, the relationships and so on its just all so top tier for the genre. I cant say anything really negative about it except that I want more side stories to flesh out some other characters and the fMCs best friend to get some romance in the side stories cause she deserves some.

I dont wanna spoil much so I will just say if you like pure romance this... more>> is for you. In a way its just the inverse of what an otome game is all about and I love it. 5 stars ladies and gentlemen and I hoppe if you read this horrible review of mine (lol) that you will give this a read. Also dont skip the side stories and read it the way it was posted by the translator. Please enjoy this fun and heartwarming series. <<less

Chapter after chapter of the MCs talking to complete and utter brick walls

The prince is the medival fantasy equivalent of a pick up artist and all that surround him are dumb blathering bimbos. The only thing that this has going for it are the characters, that if this was a decetly writen novel would actually be pretty good.

It's a cute story, nothing amazing, but still nice. I liked that the male lead wasnt the typical hot guy.

The problem I had with is novel, was that I in general dislike misunderstandings, especially when they go on for so long. I'm just glad that it wasn't an misunderstanding between the FL and ML. Their relationship was what kept me interested in this novel, even though they are quite 2 dimensional

It's a fluffy story where the MC is in love with a nerdy guy, and the prince is low key obsessed with her and can't take no for an answer. It's interesting at the beginning but soon after becomes rather repetitive and boring. The characters have no development to them so I decided to drop this.

I gave it a 3 star rating as it's a unique take on the noble/ royalty romance. I had higher expectations, but was disappointed in the end.

Such a wonderful shoju novel! MC and ML are both adorable! However, I have to tell myself "That" is only the catalyst, the s*upid cupid of MC and ML' s love story, and I must not be irretated by him.

it was conflicting. There were parts of this that I truly like. But it also had parts that I truly hate.

let's start with my likes. This novel feels like a deconstruction of the toxic romance shoujo tropes. Things that are often presented as romantic is considered creepy and the 1st crown prince really represented that. Instead of seeing his actions a cute and playful, she saw him as a thief and a creep.

this novel also revived my adoration of tsunderes. I thought my interest with this character type would have... more>> died. Especially when a lot of romance media tend to make them as these verbally abusive creatures that expects the reader to find it cute. But this ML is a tsundere that pays mind with the dere aspect of the trope.

i also like the dynamic between the leads. I am just such a sucker for sunshine × gloom pairings. The FL is a cutie with very cool servants who teaches her survival tricks.

also, tobias! He must be protected at all cost.

all these would have made this novel 4 stars had it not have parts so annoying I almost stopped reading.

the villians, their character types are often recycled from each other.

all of them refuse to listen outside there own delusions. The FL and ML could barely get a word in bc they just talk sh!t out of their mouths. That alone would not been bad but that's all of the villians. It's so frustrating reading that. Like can the author write a different type of villian?

a lot of their conflicts would have been solved had they just got engaged after the defeated the first antagonist. The author really wanted to milk this novel out. Bc it got really dragged out after the first act.

the 2nd crown prince was just the same as the first one except he wasn't thirsting over the fl. The only good thing about him is that we get to meet tobias.

the first crown prince as a villian served his purpose, he represented the toxic romance character tropes but the 2nd crown prince was just there to make the novel longer. While the 1st was annoying af, he felt neccessary and his (along with the mini villains) rude awakening was satisfying but with the 2nd crown prince, he was just annoying and mu*dery. The queen was the same.

i really wish these annoying parts of the novel wasn't such a big issue bc I would have loved to reread the ML and FL but sadly, the 90% of the characters were just too offensive to my existence. <<less

I tried, I really did try reading this but litterally when the whole cast minus the e two main characters are so brainlessly s*upid it’s difficult. So many misunderstandings that aren’t even entertaining just draining. Especially the prince... the prince makes me want to choke on a tree bark.

Don’t have the MC or ml, I just hate 90 percent of the characters in this novel so I couldn’t continue. (It’s even worse seeing it visually in the manga)

It's was extremely difficult to even read a part of this. The antagonists were sooo two dimensional. The lines from the antagonists were extremely cliche. This novel is supposed to be about challenging cliches but fails to do it in an entertaining way INSTEAD the story is incredibly frustrating and boring. Also, I don't feel the romance between Riol and Sharina it feels like dead air.

The story of a girl who falls in love with an intelligent nice guy instead of a talented but s*upid prince.

The MC can be cute in her exaggerated admiration (or so s*upid that it's cute in her unjustified jealousy towards people who have no interest in the "nerd" she likes), but almost every single other character that comes into contact with the prince is simply s*upid.

I thought there would eventually be some revelation that it was an evil spell or a succubus or something all along, but it turns out... more>> they were just s*upid to the point of ignoring reality.

Overall it's neat as a way to kill time, but the s*upidity is so one-sided that it breaks emersion for me. If you're able to suspend your disbelief for about 20 chapters and accept that people would behave like this in a functional state, you might be able to enjoy this more than me. <<less

I think I finished this, but I'm not sure (double checking) , so imma ignore the "at the time, which chapter" part.

First of, yes, it's a book based on misunderstanding. But I realise most 1/2/3 stars review just didn't understand the "misunderstanding" properly. This book plays on the typical troupe where the Prince is popular and MC is disinterested in him. Although the Prince is playing the typical part of "oh, you catch my interest", MC from the start already declared she is not interested nor romantically attracted to the... more>> Prince. But the Prince ignores and stuff happens. Hence the book.

It's a fun, short story and I like it. Just posting a review here (although not really necessary) just to state my thoughts on the book. The book plays with come typical common troupes but handled differently, which is why I like the characters so much :) <<less

Before anything else: if you plan to read this novel, be prepared for some of the most brainless characters you'll ever see.

Our main character is in love with a poor baron's son, but the titular arrogant prince gets between them at seemingly every chance. Due to thinking every woman is in love with him, for he is the handsome and perfect prince, he thinks Sharina's disinterested behaviour towards him is to win him over.

At no point does anyone ask Sharina what she actually feels and every time she tries to... more>> explain, she's either accused of lying (Because someone not interested in the prince? Surely you jest) or just straight-up ignored.

These brainless characters are infuriating to no end, obviously. But apart from that, the story is great. Instead of focusing on developing the love of the main character, our protagonist Sharina is already in love in chapter 1 with no doubt in her mind that Riol is her soulmate. Reading about Sharina's and Riol's interactions is great.

If you power through the dialogue with the infuriating and brainless characters who completely ignore Sharina's feelings and manage to distract yourself from the mu*derous tendencies towards the prince by reading and getting a good laugh out of the translator's notes and comments, you'll have a fun story about a girl madly in love with a boy who does whatever he can to protect this girl from a tyrannical prince with a satisfying ending. Or well, a satifying ending to the first arc. Who knows what the second one will bring. I also highly recommend reading the side stories after finishing the main, because it gives some fun different perspectives to the story. <<less

I love this so much, it’s lighthearted, soft, and gives you just the right amount of fluffiness, but it isn’t just wholesome. There’s drama, annoyance, deceit, and the author makes them work together so well!! 10/10 one of my favorites ever!

Soo refreshing.. This story got me so hooked with it's cuteness and annoying prince. Literally half of the time I read it just to see Shari and riol lovey dovey and the other half just to see the bad ending of that prince and his SUPER annoying attendant. Loved the MC, so honest and genuine with her feelings for Riol and Riol oblivious to his feelings but still being so nice and cute and idk..

A refreshing tilt on the otome-game-style aristocracy genre, where the MC is honest, strong, and doesn't yield to the handsome jerk of a prince character. Her persistent dedication to Riol was super endearing as well. Was hoping to see more of Riol's dere side in the extras at least, but alas he is so full of tsun keke.

Hmm. I feel like I've written a review before, but somehow it got deleted (or maybe I just didn't). But, yeah. I'm here and I'm gonna lay down a summary and my opinions about it. I would've given this a 3.5, but novelupdates doesn't allow that.

Unlike other stories that emphasize falling in love or getting together with people with a high position, the MC in this story falls in love with a poor baron's son from the countryside despite being a duke's daughter. This caught my eye straight away because... more>> I thought it's very interesting. Stories about getting together with the crown prince or the duke are very overdone to the point that I feel iffy about it. And so, this story is like a breath of fresh air to me.

MC's personality is one where she professes her love 24/7 and chases after the ML without getting tired. Her head only contains the ML and nothing else. On the other hand, ML is very low-key, calm, and collected. It's very interesting seeing how his personality changes over time. Instead of pushing the MC away for being annoying, he opens up a lot more and gets warmer towards the MC. Still, I don't get how the MC got head over heels for him over a tiny little reason and gets so obsessed towards him...

But then, a story isn't a story until there's a villain. Correct, the villain is the crown prince who is very narcissistic and isn't willing to back down until he gets what he wants. He continues to chase after MC because in his mind, everyone should be in love with him (because duh, he's THE crown prince...). VERY annoying. Speaking of, the side characters are damn annoying. Like, I just want to punch them through the screen.

The story is very well done. The pace isn't too fast nor too slow and isn't filled with too many fillers so it gets straight to the point. A perfect light read if you don't want too long of a story. The ending is also very satisfying, we get to see the fruit of MC's hard work (fufufufu :3).

Final verdict: It's okay, I'm not too crazy about this story. Mainly it's the MC's personality that might come across as too much sometimes, but everything else is okay. <<less

Good story. A trope reversal of the "hopeless girl who falls in love with the overbearing prince".

The MCs are quite likeable, but the antagonists and mob are written as being so s*upid and hateful that... well, it's quite effective in making you invested in wanting to see them fall, but it's a bit too unbelievable.

The story is quite short. You could consider that a good thing as there's not much filler, but I find myself wanting more. Hopefully the author comes out with another story soon.

Good show.
