In any case, he can afford him!

With his strength, he’ll definitely be able to let his own man eat meat every day instead of grass.

Zhou Ji, the ‘weakest man’ who had just transmigrated over from the apocalypse and likes to indulge in eating ‘grass’: “…”

He’s not the same person anymore! He is clearly capable of killing the entire tribe by himself!

As someone who enjoys the slow-paced city building/tribe development genre, I have a pretty good time reading this novel.

The story is fun and entertaining, and although it gets progressively boring in the later periods where the MC becomes extremely OP, I still gave it a fair score (3.5/5*) since most events and behaviors in the story are well-described and pretty reasonable. The narrative also flows smoothly, and its progression is quite impressive, with many things developed farther and grander than I thought it would, lol.

However, I prefer the story in... more>> the extras a bit more as I find it quite annoying for the MC to just laze around and order people to do things.

Although he is the one who comes up with the ideas, the fact that he actually pretends to be weak and sick (and then the messenger of god) so he doesn't have to work, while the children, women, the elderly, and the disabled do their best to contribute to the tribe, is just frustrating. It's not even about how much he can contribute; it's his attitude that I found problematic.

Fortunately, there is the ML who comes to save the day. This big baby bear is incredibly adorable. 🥲 His straightforwardness and gullibility are truly endearing and never fail to make me smile. The tribespeople are also mostly all cute and likable, adding to the story's overall charm. <<less

Not a bad read if you have a lot of spare time

Read it awhile back so idr much but like from a certain point onwards pov/focus sorta becomes ML instead of MC which is a bit errr for me. Also MC is like pr strong at the start and ML just kinda aids him to become stronger but like not direct fighting kind of training so

And with all modern day to stone age you'll just get the classic improve tribe life with better cooked food, pottery, and farming which over... more>> time becomes bland the more you read it <<less

ML is extremely sweet bear who just wants a family and will do anything to care for the MC and make him happy

MC has to deal with pass trauma of living through the apocalypse and learning to connect with other people again

Everyone thinks MC is weak and delicate but he's actually one of the most powerful with difficulty controlling his strength and violent behavior when facing things that trigger his past trauma4.5*

It got a bit boring but I was only looking for novels to pass time so it was quite okay. I liked the relationship between MC and ML. Especially Xiong Ye, I really loved his character. Someone who doesn't waste time deciding what he wants? Totally my type. He's so straightforward with his feelings, really adorable.

The extras were also enjoyable. The villian's character isn't really well written in my opinion. He's just there for face slapping.

Overall it was an okay read and good translation from CG.

So far I like the story but along the way I felt a bit uncomfortable.

sure, the MC is from the apocalypse and wanted a "idle and peaceful" lifestyle but it bums me so much when

MC is bit annoying in his complete disregard to other people. He uses the finest things he could create and I was hoping when he makes a new recipe, he could share it to others but nah he does it only when someone asks it. Also, he's so lazy and uses other people so casually (especially when building his house), and people is okay with it coz he's "powerful". The fact that to me the tribes people looks so much like "workers" than clansmen.

tribes works so much for example the pottery part where they spent a lot of time trying to make pottery but he's just.... there. sitting and eating with a fruit. Then he discovered "plowing and planting crops" and everyone in the tribe worked so much and he's.. idk what he's doing lol. I dont think "making things grow" is that much of a hardwork so he could've helped a little

Don't expect a very primitive lifestyle, this is mostly a "hack towards developing civilization"

i love the translation so much!the translators notes are funny, well since it's ofcourse it should be coz it's chrysanthemum garden.

This was okay. Funny scenes. Protagonist who is that creepy guy in the bar who looks cute but comes off as a mid-life crisis man with a comb over and a convertible sports car. And doesn't get why the girls go, yeah, no thanks jerk.

Problems.

  1. The MC is an a**hole. Straight up. I don't care if he survived the apocalypse in a previous life. He's only nice to ML and ignores everyone else, and they worship him and carry him around. Always telling everyone to work but does hardly anything himself. I don't count the growing plants with his powers. It seems to require no effort and 90% of the time its only for him and ML.
  2. The PTSD thing is hand-waved most of the time and only brought out when convenient to explain why MC doesn't help out. Also not how this very horrible disease works.
  3. The ML while having the good sense and morals to cut off his former scum lover clean, no take backs, takes care of the tribe, is a good warrior and a good person. But he has the brain of a squirrel when it comes to MC. If it makes MC happy, yay! MC made food I'm in love! No s*x yet? Sure! Falls asleep immediately. I don't want to learn how to write. Ooh, I get candy if I do? Okay!
  4. If you like the story. Don't read the extras about the alternate universe. It may answer some questions the author wrote at the end of the main story, but the author obviously wasn't keeping track of how the beginning of the story was written cause it contradicts huge chunks of the bad guy's history.
  5. Please. Just once. I want someone to be a cook and screw up one dish. And not cook a huge five course meal that would take a normal person all freaking day to prepare in a short time. If you must do this, please identify it as a magic power. Which it is. Professional chefs who work in Michelin starred restaurants throw away ruined food all the time.

It's great! It's somewhat of a cultivation story but the cultivation is just one aspect of the plot. It has lots of fluff in the second half when the feelings between the MC and ML are more solid. I personally havent read any book like this before so I'd say it's pretty unique. I was hesitant to read this because of the bad reviews but it's actually really good. Props to the translators as well they did a great job and the site layout of CG is clean and convenient.

This is just me basically refuting all the arguments made by that guy who gave a 3 star bad review

Spoiler

This is my healing novel, so I really dont like how the first review you see.. Is a bad one. The only reason I am writing this is to bring justice to this novel

I just needed to get it out of my system so here it is:

Doesnt take long for MC to be super strong. Is that bad? You decide. And it doesn't have a sense of tension and accomplishment because is stablished at chap1 that MC is lazy and the world he reincarnated is filled with energy for him to level up. The MC has a golden finger.

Anyway MC is from the future so guess what? He tries to create a few things so that he can live comfortably. Like clothes. And a house. He isn't really praised for it, he is very clearly mocked for living outside the village tribe, for wearing clothes, some come around to like it but most of them just don't really care and think is easier to don't wear clothes.

I LOVE this novel world building, I can imagine clearly every character, every scene, every place they go, how they act. That's something that I really love about this novel, it plays like a movie in my head.

Btw there is dinosaurs in the story, I like them, but it's not like I am really a fan of it. At the beginning in the story they are treated as dangerous food you have to hunt for, and after that they are treated just as food that you have to hunt for. Not surprising anyone.

Aside from clothes and houses, MC also wants a stable food source because these people eat so much! So he tries to implement farming and raising dinosaur. He give these jobs to other people, he give a few points about how things should go and that's it, that is their job now. These stuff benefit the whole tribe, so everyone is diligent.

Also, the ML ex fiance Shi Li IS very ungrateful. The ML loved Shi Li and he did so much for him and his family, so much more than the people in the tribe is used to do, but Shi Li took him for granted and discarded him. Shi Li even said that when he became powerful he will let ML be part of his HAREM. She Li is the epitome of selfishness and arrogance.

And all it takes to ML to fall over MC is nice meals and nice gestures. I guess it helps that Shi Li immediately after breaking up lose his v**ginity to the prettiest girl in the tribe. Also I guess it also helps that ML thought that MC was in love with him since forever. But these are just guesses. She Li love is so cheap that the very first thing after getting reborn is to break up with ML.

Shi Li is so so selfish, he relied so much on ML on his past life that is a joke how egocentric he can be.

ML already has the potential to be powerful, and he does put the effort. Shi Li relies on others as if is the most normal thing to do, he barely can keep himself fed.

But this time ML doesn't really have to put the effort because MC is already there helping him, but ML put the effort anyway. To be stronger and a good husband.

If only Shi Li didn't tried to sabotage the tribe, or kill the people from there out of resentment or jealously. Shi Li is so pitiful (sarcasm).

Some people found strange the idea of monogamy in primitive tribes, which I found a bit weird but OK. It is pointed out that monogamy was not a normal occurrence there, but it was respected as a proper way to live. There are plenty of times that is showed how some of then are very bitter that ML is married, that he should have some babies, and whatnot some tried to talk him out of this. But ML is GAY, he is sure of it, and he will never have s*x or marry a woman. And their religion permits man to marry man, so even if they are bitter they know how to respect a married couple. They don't have a high mortality rate anymore because they have a priest. And the same priest that saved many lives in the tribe blessed their marriage and they vowed to God to never be with other people. Religion plays a big part on the tribe, even more on small ones.

My god how can not be there cuteness in the story?!?! If you want a ML who has white tender skin, a milky scent, phoenix eyes, upturned buttocks and bla bla bla, if thats whats cute for you then this story is not for you, the ML is a bear. The white one is the MC but even then he is the muscular type.

Anyway. Cuteness. Everyone can turn to animals. A teenagers girl transforms into a cat, the priest is a little hamster, they have tigers, bears, pandas, sheeps and all the others. So the visual input is there. Oh? You want a cute personality? Everyone is cute. The MC also agrees with me, they are so simple and cute, is lovable how direct they are. Even the romance is cute, they share day to day happiness, they eat together, cuddle, flirt.. I sincerely don't know what you people understand by cuteness if it isn't this.

But yeah, this is my solid 5 star isekai cooking novel, I am here for the fluff and the easy ride. Thats why this is my healing novel.

If you have a very specific taste for novels don't bring the average down because it didn't met your expectations for it.

I felt like this story was 50% about food. Not a bad thing, but strangely detailed.

I liked the growth progression of the characters and the loving relationship of MC/ML. They weren't toxic or creepy with each other.

MC was pretty flat because he was too OP, but I chose to read this as a sweet little story instead of treating it as an action/adventure novel.

This novel in the beginning was very interesting but gradually got boring in later chapters (if you ignored the majority of things that I did and realized you wasted your time reading this).

I was starting to question who was even the MC at this point... and the only interesting character, Shi Li was thrown away. Also, Xiong Ye who were childhood friends with Shi Li turned into a lover took rejection very easily. (Spoiler? I’m not even sure lol) even though they fought he moved on so easily and immediately... more>> got married to someone who he didn’t even know until a couple of days (to my guess) for what reason? He could cook, nice and weak. Same thing with Zhou Ji, he didn’t even know Xiong Ye existed but suddenly agreed... logic seems to not exist in the mind of the author anymore.

I only read up to chapter 82 to be exact and I’ll say it got boring around 60? I’m not sure I just skimmed through the chapters trying to skip to any interesting parts. <<less

Hidden identity for no good reason is extremely frustrating.

MC wants to live a peaceful, lazy life, yet he hides his powers, plays the fool, lets the tribe go through hardships and makes his own life 100 times harder than it would be if he just showed his ability.
The whole tribe could live in absolute luxury with nothing to be afraid of, but no, he pretends to be a waste, ultimately dragging down even his husband who could have been killed several times while hunting, which would be unnecessary if MC would have used his power openly.

It makes no sense and starts to really get on my nerves, I don't know why so many writers just don't know when to stop with the hidden identity plotline, or better, not use it at all when it's completely illogical for the character to do so.

Characterisation is lacking, especially MC is unlikeable, he doesn't care about anyone but ML, and only because ML looks good and was nice to him, there isn't actually any love there.
MC simply only has himself in his eyes, everyone else is beneath him and the writer shows this often enough with MC calling them dumb, ridiculing their believes and practises, etc.

His whole character makes little sense, for someone who supposedly was the last survivor of the human race, the strongest person in the apocalypse, his survival instinct is abysmal, he's barely able to plan ahead for more than a day, and his "laziness" is actually just total apathy.
He knows nothing's going to happen to him, everyone else doesn't matter anyway, so why should he bother?

And he's a picky eater as well as a little princess who hates dirt and blood, it doesn't help that the writer has no idea how PTSD works but kept using it as an ignorant, half-assed reason for more or less every behaviour that doesn't match MC's background.
Filling in plotholes and inconsistencies with something you clearly know nothing about only makes it worse.

The world building has a solid foundation but was grossly underutilised.
For the overall story, it's quite questionable; with a stone age society that turns into animals and uses xianxia cultivation to become gods/beast kings, all while having a rebirth aspect and an MC who transmigrated from a zombie apocalypse... it's as mismatched as it sounds.

The writer obviously didn't know what they actually wanted to write about, neither how to do it properly, the only two positive points are the relationships, which are all pretty healthy, and how women are represented, as strong, independent, and equal.

I have no idea how the writer found enough readers to keep this going for 180 chapters, it gets more convoluted the longer it goes on.

If you have absolutely nothing else to read then try it, don't be afraid of skipping large portions, the main part of the story is the same thing over and over, there's very little actual plot.

The author clearly know what to write from the start and was so consistent with their plot and end, they end up wrote such a Amazing Truly Enjoyable Fun story I would never expect. I can't even see any Flaw in the way they wrote the plot and end. It was so Well Written I can't help feeling Amazed!

It has Good Worldbuilding for a story in Primitive era. Nothing being out of place. Like the way ZJ showing his knowledge to 'upgraded' his tribe's life. Then the way ZJ also... more>> make XY grow stronger. And then the way people took their Power.

The story also has many Likable Characters! Especially of course the MC and ML. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! And there's no side CP at all! I'm very pleased with it!

I'm also honestly surprise with the fact that this Novel actually DID NOT make me bored AT ALL!! At the beginning I thought I would need to take a break because usually slice of life long novel does make people slightly bored. But apparently not this novel! It just keep makes me want to continue read more and more!!!

Quite a good story. MC is an OP cultivator who transmigrated into a primitive beast world. ML is an honest, loyal man who have the bad luck of having a relationship with an ungrateful beastman who reborn & immediately ditch him just because he don't want an exclusive relationship (scum). So ML pick (or in MC word, he choose ML) to be his bride instead.

This was a cute read and, as a person that is fairly new to Asian novels, it had me comparing the style to the Western novels that I'm used to. I'm also stumped at the incessant use of Gary Stu characters in their novels.

I quite like that the two main leads are somewhat like beefcakes rather than the usual Asian aesthetics of skinny fair skinned people, or the pairing of a dainty petite bottom and overpowered tall strong top.

The story is told through multiple perspectives, which makes it interesting, though... more>> what irks me somewhat is the rambling narrator soliloquies. Western novels had me accustomed to reading between the lines, information revealed through conversation between characters, and having the characters act out thoughts and emotions. Having so much information revealed in a very short scene can feel a bit redundant.

The smut scenes weren't so juicy, and I wish that they'd used a lubricant on the first time. There no pleasure felt after hurting the chrysanthemum...

I did skip over the paragraphs that I felt were repetitive, though.

Spoiler

The time before Shi Li's rebirth is either explained in the Parallel Universe chapters at the end of the main story, or it could be a 3rd parallel universe where the MC and ML get to also be together.

If it was the first case, then Shi Li might have the memories from before his memories of being rendered powerless and cast off.

Ok, I started reading not expecting much as I've read similar stories before.

HOWEVER, to my surprise, I couldn't bring myself to stop reading it?!

It is NOT that kind of bl that one is forced to anything and their relationship (in MY opinion) never felt forced. Also, the story has a PLOT (nothing mind-blowing though and you could already see most of the things that would happen, I was never surprised) and a good powerful couple. You can feel their relationship improving and their feelings even without the author having to... more>> tell you with words, you can feel.

Spoiler

In the begging, I didn't know who was the gong at all, what I LOVED, because I feel a little tired when the shou is always weak and a "little bunny" while the gong is overbearing and so on. It was really NICE how BOTH of them respected each other and the shou didn't need to be all delicate and a damsel in distress waiting for the gong.

Yes, the gong here IS MORE POWERFUL, but it doesn't make the shou weak AT ALL. Yes, the gong saves the shou here too, but it's only 2/3 times in the WHOLE story.

So, YES, I love POWER COUPLES! I wish to read more stories where the relationship between gong-shou is not so stereotyped.

[collapse]

But don't expect nothing big or complex or full of deep and complicated feelings, ok? This story is even silly and has some coincidences and conclusions that you have to just "force" yourself to go with the flow.

Spoiler

The only thing that was "lacking" would be more intimate descriptions of their relationship. Not asking a smut scene, but more descriptions and loving scene. But, even if I felt it was a little lacking, it didn't spoil the story, and I still enjoyed. I wish it was longer T_T

It is a fun, satisfying read with no depth. My biggest complaint would be that I wish the gong was the bottom, but it was good regardless. (It would be nice to have a shou who is much stronger than the gong). The biggest enjoyment would be from how it stands out from other novels. The gong is the lazybones in this relationship who gets pampered and the shou is is hardworking and ambitious. This was really refreshing for me, because I was heartily sick of the novels where the... more>> shou is like a piece of furniture and the gong has to do everything. <<less

This is a story of how a self entitled apocalypsed survivor that has become lazy yet still powerful live his peaceful life and fattening his hubby with all the modern food knowledge.

Dont take it as a real stone age life but a hack stone age with cultivation and beast cave men. The romance part is not that important, so dont get high hope for fluff coz it's not a necessity here. I tried my best to read until chapter 50, I really did try my best to love, or even like this story, but I just can't.

MC just very very OP (now now, I seen lots of other novel MC being OP, but still can make the whole novel interesting and fun read, but apparently not this one), he don't want to use his knowledge, doesn't even want to help his clan (leave them being weak and primitive), because scared of disturbing the f*cking world ecosystem. MC very lazy (I've read... more>> other lazy and laidback MC, but this one, a whole different kind level of lazy) and doesn't really want to get involve with anybody, he doesn't even work, like to pretend to be weak and hide behind his partner. And most of all, being all secretive with his partner. (I hate this kind of MC)

I really don't want to talk bad about this novel, I just can't seem to find anything that I like.

Maybe because I like clan building and not lazy type of MC, that this type of novel isn't for me.

But I appreciate the translator for doing a good job.

3 star for the translator sake. <<less
