A rebirth/reincarnation story where the MC is reborn in the same world but in a different body. MC is intelligent, patient, knows her limitations and smartly overcomes those limitations of the body she is reborn into to overcome the difficulties she faces.

BUT the story has plenty of plot holes (example - inconsistency regarding the original body's memories, out of the blue medical techniques) - considering that barely 20 something chapters have been translated, it seems like a bad start...

For now, would like to read more of the story (mostly because... more>> of the MC), and see how it develops... <<less

3* at best since I read lots of worst novels.

lots of inconsistent and confusing plot holes that made me always guessing what did author means... (it begin with A, suddenly become B midway, later become C at whim, etc... what the heck?)

plotarmor comes as the princes which without any particular reasons giving everything for MC growth...

It's a bit early to review this, but.... well, in the beginning it's like any typical cultivation reincarnation / transmigration story. The MC finds herself in a difficult situation after waking in this new body yet manages to come out unscathed due to her past skills / knowledge. As the other review mentioned, the MC is smart and intelligent and knows her limits - altho, there is a bit of repetition of "due to her [insert past identity] she can do this amazing thing blah blah blah".

The writing is... more>> okay, I would say better than most in stories like this. Altho as I said there is a bit of repetition and more "tell" than "show" in areas where it'd be better to use description or just show through the MC's actions. The translation is very good tho, with very few mistakes, so it makes reading this even better.

However, having said all that, there are already two rather big plot holes that I found hard to ignore:

Spoiler

Like gryffinpuff said, first comes up the issue of the original soul's memories. In the chapters two and three, the MC mentions she saw the memories, and thus concluded she reincarnated. But then later, she suddenly says she didn't recall anything when she woke up? And that she needs to investigate this new body's identity?

Ok....I was willing to get past that, since it's not too major, but then:

One of the nation's princes appears in her room (she's staying at another prince's residence) and she basically says when she realizes he looks sickly: "Ah, you're here because of my medical skills, right?"

But the problem is.... she hasn't had the chance to show her medical skills yet! At least not to anyone else that isn't us, the readers, so why is she saying that?

I think gryffinpuff worded it incorrectly - it's not that the readers found her medical skills to be out of the blue, she managed to treat her own injuries and is clearly skilled enough to create poisons w/ some herbs she bought. The problem is her suddenly saying that when she has never met this prince nor been in any situation where she's shown miraculous medical skills to the public - and it would've had to be a tremendous and significant show, because this is a prince! Otherwise, why would he go to her, who at this point is only known to be a "servant girl", when he can get much better doctors for himself?

Again, this isn't anything major either, but it is something harder to ignore. And it makes me feel as if this might happen a lot later in the future, where suddenly things pop up w/ no logical basis.

[collapse]

Anyway after that, my eyes started glazing.... especially when she has a romantic dream w/ the two princes that she's met at this point. (Technically, she's met 3 princes by chp 23, but one of them is essentially a kid to her.) It's like.... it might just be foreshadowing, but ugh, a love triangle foreshadowed through a dream is just too ridiculous.

So idk, the writing is okay, and the MC is good enough to keep reading, but the plot holes and the repetiveness I mentioned and that "dream" are making me doubt whether I should keep going. <<less

I'm stopping this for now. The story is very boring since all we keep reading about is how intelligent the FL is, plus almost all the Mls find her fascinating for no apparent reason. I would have also liked less repetition, I find that the story is stretched for monetary reasons and could be half it's size if the repetitive narrative is dropped.

I think the author wants certain things to happen but does not really give a f*** how the plot gets there. The characterization is all over the place. The Author is always telling us the Female Main Character is smart. At the same time she is always showing us that the Female Main Character is a grade A moron, who is always forgetting things.

Spoiler

First, The Reincarnated Female Lead; The author constantly reiterates she is trying to hide her powers to keep her enemies from knowing she has reincarnated. She reincarnates as a s*ave in a coliseum, where she has to battle beasts. She is there about a week, and then she is bought by some mysterious Prince (Prince #1) and placed in a mansion where suddenly she has servants she can order around, the run of the mansion, expensive clothes and she treats all this as normal despite never meeting the Prince who has bought her there.

Then the night after arriving in the mansion, she watches an assassin/thief get caught sneaking inside the mansion get chased away by guards. Sooo when she returns to her room, she finds a strange man who has sneaked into her room waiting for her. She has no worries about assassins (despite just watching one being chased away), she has no worries about her enemies discovering her (despite how she constantly goes on about hiding from them to recover her powers), she just nonchalantly tells him (with no reason for her knowing this), that he must be Prince #2, she then volunteers to diagnose him with her super secret powers then volunteers to cure him. WTF!!! Where's your motivation to hide your powers until you have fully recovered you idiot? And why would you offer this to a dude you have never met before who sneaked into your room in THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, right after you saw an assassin chased away?

And from the Prince's POV; He sneaks into her bedroom, in the middle of the night (and not just sneaked into her room, sneaked into his brother's mansion) because he is hoping she can cure him. Why he thinks someone he has never met, who has shown absolutely no fantastic medical skills publicly, can cure him of his super special poisoning, the reader has no idea (we are not even sure why/how he has heard of her, let alone her healing skills) because she has only existed for around a week). Then when she tells him she can cure him, he is disbelieving that she can cure him!!! WTF, why are you there in the first place you idiot? Sigh.

She then stays in her room for a few days until suddenly the Author needs her to meet Prince #9. So she suddenly for the first & only time, decides to go out and explore the estate grounds, but gets tired and falls asleep and when she wakes Prince #9 is there.

Now with Prince #2, she is bold, confident, demanding & brazen (signalling in huge red lights to the readers that Prince #2 is indeed "THE MALE LEAD), but then when she meets the much younger Prince #9, suddenly she is polite, submissive, flattering towards him. WTF, suddenly she has a personality change.

Then when Prince #9 tells her the Empress Dowager is going to have a banquet and that one of her enemies is going to be there, so off course she decides to sneak into the palace to attend a ROYAL BANQUET. Yep, she is totally keeping a low profile. Her reason for attending does not even make sense. She is attending to find out more "info" about her enemy. And her plan is just to walk up to the palace and pretend to be a noble. What a s*upid plan?? Is the enemy going to tell her (a total stranger) his dastardly plan; or is she going to conveniently overhear him discussing his dastardly plan in a public space or is she simply going to hear information that she could easily get just by asking anyone who attended the banquet? Is she going to be saved from discovery by Prince #2? Is she going to attract the irrational & delusional jealousy of women at the banquet? Is Prince #1, the guy who bloody bought her and housed her in his estate going to recognise her? You too can find out and not care. (Seriously her entire plan is so moronic it is pointless) Meh.

Then she poisons someone no-one actually likes including Prince #1. And offers to cure that poison in an effort to blackmail Prince #1 into;

a) Presenting her as a Divine Doctor. Hello! isn't she trying to keep a low profile so she can recover her powers and face her enemies? Or is it someone she keeps saying whilst doing the opposite?

b) Giving her sufficient resources and money so she can cultivate. Hello x2! He was already doing that. In fact, she had just been given a chest full of gold & money. So what the heck is this request.

... and all this is presented as some brilliant master plan lol

[collapse]

All this s*upidity happens in the first 40 chapters. I fear the s*upidity of the female lead in later chapters will cause a s*upidity singularity that sucks in the braincells of the readers, so read at your own risk. <<less

I tried, but had to throw the towel on this one.

The premise was promising, but there were too many plot holes so far into the novel that the story didn't make sense anymore for me. It suffers from a genre crisis of what it primarily intends to be, is it revenge with romance, or xianxia, some beast taming and alchemy? There are also loopholes on the characters to the point they appear quite one dimensional. There were attempts (unsuccessful IMO) to give them more depth, but it feels too contrived.

I... more>> had to stop because I don't know what I'm reading at this point, a little sad because I won't get to finish, but I feel I wasted enough time to care for it at the moment. <<less

Let me start off by saying that the translation is magical. Whoever toiled away for near 500 chapters on this project deserves a pat on the back for their service to humanity because this was a trying and frustrating story.

Aft first I was so confused at the beginning but I persevered. The story smoothed out after 100 chapters but there were obvious inconsistencies and plot gaps which plagued the story. At around the 200 chapter mark, it seemed as though the author threw out the rule book and it went... more>> from a revenge-driven reincarnation story with cultivation and pill refining elements to a sappy romantic melodrama. Even now at chapter 347 I am not sure who the ML is since the author chops and dices the MLs on a whim.

Too much telling and not enough showing makes this tale become an expose rather than a story. It is very much the type of story where the author wants you to take his/her word for it without giving enough context to do so.

The premise for the story started well, but by chapter 100 it becomes apparent that the author is drawing things out for no reason and summarizing parts that would/could make for decent storytelling. Instead, they focus only on the action scenes—which are decent enough—forgetting the smaller details that... more>> are foundational for the plot. A few examples of this include: (1) glossing over actual deals made between characters, (2) not explaining the nuances of how cultivation works in this universe, and (3) not explaining the world outside and the country's position in it. We're left with a character in a highly political environment whose background keeps getting explained, and who is supposed to be becoming OP but without any understanding except by extrapolating from outside knowledge about this type of genre in general. Although the amount that is written about cultivation is well proportioned to the rest of the story, without an understanding of how it works for the characters there is no real way to understand why it matters or where the MC stands in the scheme of things. In the end, you're left with the statements that the MC is supposed to be this awesome person, but since it's all explained to you, you can't help feeling she's a bit lackluster.

Additionally, people and things are brought up only to leave them out for MANY chapters, and then STILL don't explain anything the next time you encounter them. For example, as of now I am still left wondering who a certain someone is that I encountered in the first few chapters and then around chapter 50. The MC says she'll ask, but she never does. So to this moment you have no idea who they are or whether they matter. Like all female cultivation novels, the MC is loved by all the guys. I will note that the author has given enough motivation for all the males to be interested since she is a chess piece. However, she is portrayed as a complete airhead who doesn't catch very blatant signals. This conflicts with the fact that she has been in a relationship before (so I don't know how she'd miss those). I am still unsure who the ML is, although I have a decent idea. So this is romance done fairly well, but still lacks because the MC remains so passive. Translation quality is very good and makes for an easy read.

The story had an interesting start, but after a while, there seemed to be some sort of disjointedness within the plots and characters. By the time I finished reading the first half, I ended up just skimming through the remaining half. The story wasn't terrible, but could have done with a little more refinement in the character and story development.
