Unable to bear hurting the villain he helped raise, but when it came to compensating with his own body, the unfortunate, straight male reader figured he’d better escape… …

Many years later, the same unfortunate saint rubbed his neck, asking, “This is a dog collar you put on me, isn’t it?”

The handsome villainous boss gave a glance with his elegant, almond-shaped eyes, and then replied with a devious, charming smile, “That’s to prevent you from running away again.”

“If I stay put, will you refrain from destroying the world?”

Quite good so far; translation quality is excellent, the characters have a solid base to start with. The premise is unique and the reader can already see all of the mounting problems that the MC will eventually discover and face. The story is still in its early stages but I appreciate the interaction between the narrator and his two little OP-to-be brothers; the introductory chapter also shows great humor.

It's a fresh perspective on xianxia with the addition of an unusual BL pairing. We'll see how the addition of one new... more>> character will topple the foundations of a classic xianxia story, eventually saving the world with the power of love... or something like that. Very much looking forward to reading more. <<less

I'm going to have to agree with many other reviewers. The first two books were decent, the last two were tr*sh. Altogether, it's like a 2.5. Unfortunately novel updates doesn't support half stars so I'm downgrading it to a 2 cause this definitely isn't a 3.

The first book introduces the characters, fleshes out the world, and slowly establishes the relationship between MC and ML. The second was about MC and ML starting to get it on, ML getting jealous, and MC realizing he can't say no. It straddles the unhealthy... more>> relationship territory, but nothing too extreme yet.

By book three, ML has gone into psycho possessive boyfriend territory. By book four, he's an off the chart rapist.

Like actual r*pe. Not sexy dub con. As in he's screaming at ML to stop, that it hurts and ML ignores him and does it anyways.

Oh, and MC loses IQ points and independence with every book. By the end of book 4 and the extras, he's a useless blushing uke who can only beat the ML helplessly and cry "no, no, yes" while getting pushed down. Does it matter that he occasionally has a smart mouth and drops a snarky quip? Not really, he's still essentially worthless 90% of the time.

Seriously, what's the point of him learning cultivation and crafting artifacts if all he's doing is spreading his legs? He spends 50% of his time getting dicked and 50% of the time recovering from it.

Basically, you're only reading this to enjoy the smut. The unrealistic smut where ML's "thing" is the size of a daikon radish. <<less

After browsing my "Completed" list, my eyes caught this title sitting at the very bottom, bearing the longest title in the list—but can't remember what the story is all about. I checked, and went "oh", and gnashed my teeth automatically. It was a novel I happen to 'finish' few weeks ago.

Browsing down the reviews, it seems this section has become a battle of stars..? I found a very funny and interesting rant review, and even gave it a like (dang, that was a good laugh, haha) . And upon... more>> checking the date, it was just posted recently. (Reviewer yo, where were you when I was in my most desperate time? Had I read yours before, I wouldn't have wasted my time reading this one...)

Maa, I originally intended not to leave a review for this one and just totally forget about it after reading (and was half-successful), but for the sake of those newbie BL readers like me that do still have a very 'delicate' taste and easily get traumatized, I'm leaving this one as a warning—and future reference should you decide to become a hardcore fujoshi.

I gave it 3/5. Why?

STORY:

The description provided is very misleading, especially the lines under the 'ludicrous story'. But yes, the 'villain', which is the ML, is really villainous, though.

So how should I describe the story..?

A mess. Very messy. Everything is a mess! The story, the content, the writing style, and even the translation itself! Why the translation? Well, to be clear, I didn't have a problem with the translator's way of translating. In fact, I like it. The problem is their personal problem with the 'robbers' (unconsented posting of their works to other sites) which greatly affected my reading experience. I mean, fonts ever-changing and text-turned-image flashing before my eyes really do hurt. Very excruciating. But since reviews are to be made for the story itself, not the translation, the minus point didn't go to that minor issue.

The story execution, as all the other reviewers have already pointed out, it's good, engaging, and really got an entertaining cultivation and adventure vibe, until we get to the last two volumes. I don't know if it's just me or the author's way of properly handling a seemingly promising story-turned-"oh boy, I was wrong", but regardless, I really felt duped. Maybe the problem is really on me, not the author's writing style, since the "smut" genre is screaming there but I chose to ignore it and eventually suffered the consequences. But still, every story, regardless of the genre, deserves a good, if not, an "official" ending, right? It seems to me that the latter part of the novel is just the author peeling his/her skin off and showing us what's really his/her intentions are—which is to give form to his/her fantasies through writing or simply satisfy the readers' cravings for fan service.

The author's writing style may be okay for a frequent smut-yaoi readers, but I would like to go on and say my piece: giving details is good, but please leave the 'gross' details like body fluids and 'cleaning process' out! I was twitching my face and gnashing my teeth in cringe all throughout whenever the main characters are doing their R18 stuffs. Is this supposed to be s** education? Skimming and skipping chapters was my only escape. But since I was at fault for entering a genre I'm not familiar with, I can't complain more about the ever-so-present H-scenes, which kept on ruining my excitement and anticipation of what's gonna happen next to the 'plot'. It truly made me curse "WTF is happening?!".

So, my ultimate grudge against the author would only be the very bad story progression. Like what. the. hell.

Plot, where art thou?

CHARACTERS:

*Sigh*

I like (liked?) the MC. He is the only reason why I persevered and continued, constantly curious what's going to happen to him at the end... But where's the end? I read and read, and even MTLed the extras that are not yet translated (yep, extra 5 is not the end). But oh boy, another WTF. Author yo, that's it?! I would like to congratulate the author for being such a good troll. Those extras confused me more. Ending, where art thou?

The MC's personality is likeable. I think, next to the MC of Every Day the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me (I dropped the novel, though) , the MC exudes what a genuine transmigrator supposed to be like. Always questioning, not accepting everything as readily since 'Hello..? I'm a modern man from a modern world. This is not normal!'. I thought I finally found a successful read, until he became dumb. The moment he acted 'irrational' and started exchanging corny nothings with the ML you don't know why or out of what, the cringe crawled in, until I finally felt numb. What a big disappointment.

And the ML, where in the world can I encounter a 'decent' yandere?! If not the r*pey type, why do they have to be so greedy and disrespectful towards the MC? At first, I didn't like the ML, the young version of him, and that changed as the story progresses... until he reached his adult form, and I didn't know what kind of impression I should give him anymore! MLs being possessive is fine; it adds to the thrill, yes, but this ML also seems like oozing with too much libido. What a dangerous combination. I really pity the MC (but he became dumb and ever accepting so we should think it's also fine, huh?) . But well, this is 'smut', should we expect less? Overall, for me, there's nothing much to like about the ML. For all his 'waiting sacrifices' for the MC, I should admire him, right? Just like how I felt for Lan WangJi and Hua Cheng? But due to his kind of maniac personality, I just couldn't connect and fully sympathize with him. It's like everything that he does is so that in the end he could have *** with the MC after. Argh! I'm so dirty-minded...

And for the side characters... was there any? Well, there's nothing much to say except the 'official' protagonist of the novel (per MC's POV) doesn't serve anything much. Several side characters were introduced as part of the mini adventure at the earlier chapters. I thought it was good. They did a great job in keeping our hopes up, and kicking us down.

OVERALL:

Overall, giving all the considerations, it's an "OK" read. But personally, I can't say I 'like' it because I got a little 'traumatized' after reading it. Just not my cup of tea.

I guess I won't try another novel with a shining "smut" genre anymore, unless for 'studying' and 'exploration' purposes. To be honest, I'm also having second thoughts about the "yaoi" genre, too. I thought, why the The Founder of Diabolism is good but this is not? Considering they are both under the same genre, which is yaoi? But well, that's my personal problem. Every author is unique and have their own writing style. But (no) thanks to this, recently, I'm only touching novels with shoujo or shounen-ai genres out of fear.

For final words: this novel is obviously not for everybody. If your level of cringe is low and couldn't stand hardcore H-scenes, don't read this one. I should also warn you that for a completed novel, it's a bit lacking when it comes to a 'proper' conclusion. You have to draw it yourself and decide for yourself. Very convenient, right? Or you may just simply go and agree with the author when he/she says 'this' is the end.

BUT, if you're the type who enjoys and only after the 'steamy' scenes (and LOTS of it), by all means... <<less

This strangely has a very captivating starting plot, I literally cannot put this down because my heart yearns for more fluffiness of the mc's blooming romance.

The story is so amazing. It feels like youre the MC, lol, since he read transmigration stories like us, and never imagining that he would be tranmigrated. But yeah, im gonna go easy on commemting because it might come true. Lololol. I cant stop grinning until I have to wait for the update. Lol. Im so evious of people who already finished this. But I... more>> will wait patiently! Be still, my heart ♥

Just read the first chapter and youll understand! The translation is well written and quite long, I just hope people should just stop reposting it and just read through Winter's blog. <<less

So I just gotta say,

This was one of my first and most favourite bl stories, this was the first story that introduced me into reading bl novels and I do not regret reading it.

I must say it was spicy though, it was quite.... vivid. Which was really good for me but if you dislike smutty scenes you should be warned cuz this does include smut that can't be considered consensual.

I do want to say that this story does have a lot of cons such as volume 3 and 4... more>> not being as great as the first two volumes. I guess you feel like it kinda just drags on and turns toxic.

(SLIGHT SPOILER)

I should warn you before reading this that the original lovey relationship does turn toxic as ML becomes more obsessed with MC and insolates him, than at one point r*ping him when he loses memory. This than becomes repetitive and you get bored and feel the angst build up.

Overall it's mainly because this was my first bl story that I feel so attached, I do recommend reading it, but you might start considering dropping it after volume 2. <<less

4 Stars for all the yummy scenes, and for a very beautiful and amazing character building, relationship building, and plot building start from volume 1, 2, and 3.

4 Stars only though because by the end of volume 4 the author definitely rushed it and decided to be lazy. Volume 4 had zero plot. It was more of a patchwork instead and mainly focused on the main couple's relationship without any real obstacles and real resolution.

An exaggerated example summary of volume 4 is the same as a person traveling from their... more>> desk to the kitchen to open the fridge and then close it only to remember they didn't have any food in the fridge and then went back to their desk. The extras following volume 4 would be like the roommate conveniently coming home seconds afterward saying they bought a few things to make for dinner for both of them.

Do you understand what I'm saying? Or, where I'm going with this summary?

Intro: Character was hungry and went to the fridge to look for food.

Problem: No food in fridge.

Ending/Resolution: Character decided to go back to their desk.

See what I mean? There's nothing eventful happening.

Granted, I was crying during volume 4 because I can grasp and feel one character's pain and desperation, and I can understand the struggle and feelings of the other, but the dusts was swept under the rug so quick that the story wasn't even properly cleaned.

Volume 1 and 2 were definitely the best because the author carefully build the characters relationships with each other. The author introduced all the necessary side characters and did a good job at introducing the settings and the problem for each volume. Volume 3 would be the tip of the romance for the main couple and had a tiny bit of plot, but then you reach volume 4 and it killed the entire story.

I would still recommend this story because I still loved everything that led up to the ending, but omg that ending to volume 4 needed to be changed. <<less

  • The novel was good... Upto Vol 2 it was very enjoyable... but from vol 3 it seemed a bit rushed. I enjoyed vol. 4, but it would've been good to see the love developing slowly in vol 3 rather than sudden change.
  • A lot of things was unexplained. I like well developed side characters. Their stories felt a bit incomplete to me.
  • Overall, for first 2 vol, it deserves full score. It had potential to become so good. Hope in future if extra chapters are released, it'll all make sense.

Volume 1-2 is good but when volume 3 starts, this is where everything goes downhill. MC suddenly became dumb and a crybaby whenever ML is around, saying no but he freaking likes it, accepting him to be his lover saying his protecting him but in fact he’s just imprisoning him, everything he does for ML in vol 1 and 2 goes to nothing. And where did all the side characters go? And it’s not s*x anymore it’s r*pe.

A very good and well written novel! I blasted through all three volumes in one night and then devoured the fourth the next day!

Overall, it's good story about a guy whose so damn mad his waifu died and wrote a scathing comment to the writer only to find himself in the story now too! In an effort to avoid causing the villain to destroy the world, he tries his best to be a big brother figure, only to inadvertently cause him to fall in love instead.

Plot wise, I will admit... more>> there are some plot holes, characters that show up and barely do anything and then leave, And even some characters are introduced literally to move the plot along and then disappear!

as for the r*pe allegations in the other reviews, I'd say it veers more dubcon. To be more specific, it's more "early 2000's yaoi manga" kinda dubcon where the mc's like "this shitty guy!! I'll kill you!" but ends up being done and enjoys it. If you're good with suspending belief/letting things like that slide in a story, continue. If not, you're gonna wanna just read vol 1 and 2 and not bother with three, maybe even 4. As for the MC getting weak in vol 3? Minor spoiler but:

Spoiler

he's inhabiting a dead/dying/slowly decaying body.

[collapse]

Overall it's not perfect, but it's still a very good story. The plot's good, the setting is decent, the characters a lovable/likable. I would say give it a try, at least up to vol 2, which has mostly fluffy growing up action. I will say I was so captivated that when I hit the missing chapters, I almost coughed up blood at that cliffhanger lol. <<less

I had great expectations for this story, since it started so well! But then volume 3 and 4 came, and it took a turn for the worse -_-

From the third volume onwards, the MC is basically reduced to an useless, weak and whiny whimp: the exact opposite of the way he was at the beginning.

then, we have many classical-disturbed-yaoi tropes such as r*pe, an abusive lover that justifies his actions with "it's because I love you so much" and a wonderful "happy ending" where the abused one finally falls in... more>> love with his rapist and abuser :'D (which I believe, is called "Stockholm syndrome").

I'm just very disappointed, because it looked like it was going to be a story with an healty relationship and a power couple. Well, I was wrong.

Also, there are tons of side character (interesting ones!) that from volume 3 onwards basically disappear. Duh <<less

This is one of the best romance novels I've read. I actually cried reading this (Don't worry this does NOT end up as a tragedy). I love how this novel shows the development of their feelings throughout each volume. I could really tell how important MC was to ML and why ML loves him so much. The MC isn't really badass like other MC's you've probably read about but if you're just looking for an amazing romance BL to read I highly recommend this one.

I'm surprised this novel has so many positive reviews. These positive reviews encouraged me to read this.

The beginning was very good, but the further it goes, the worse it gets. I started to get bored after the first volume, and the 4 vol was probably written by the author on her knee. I expected something better.

I... Am honestly so disappointed about this novel.

It started off very good. The plot was interesting, all of the characters were fun and likeable, and there seemed to be a lot being planned story-wise.

Yeah, the main character was pretty homophobic, but he was getting better. He was cultivating both his strength and his personality.

Then things started to go downhill in volume 3. It was like the scope of the novel shrank by a large margin. The MC even stopped working on cultivation altogether. But the romance and lovely characters had... more>> me interested in knowing what came next. Plus, the main character eventually stopped being a total homophobic dumb dumb.

I was still enjoying reading very much!

Annnnnd then volume 4 came along. What the author did to the main character was so cheap I literally dropped my phone out of frustration. If you don’t care about spoilers, below is what happened.

Spoiler

The main character got ****ing amnesia.

[collapse]

It made everything that happened in the previous 3 volumes completely ****ing pointless. The MC lost what little character development he had and reverted to being a complete homophobe. I couldn’t stand it anymore and dropped the book. I would rather think the last chapter of volume 3 is the actual ending than read through this BS.

I’m so disappointed and feel like I’ve been Rick-rolled by the author. Excluding volume 4, this is a solid 7/10. Including volume 4, it’s 2/10. Read at your own peril. <<less

I cannot bear to read anymore of this novel. It all started going downhill at volume 3 and went to sh*t at volume 4.

Spoiler

Volume 4 was just plain disturbing to me. The first chapters were okay, LX got a job and stuff but when he meets YZJ, my face was permanently a frown.

YZJ transforms himself into the younger version of himself (14-16ish) to stalk LX (who lost his memories).

Not to mention that on their first scenes together after reuniting, YZJ gets LX to jack him off after basically kidnapping him into his new space.

The worst scene was one where kid YZJ is stroking himself on LX's bed because LX at that point hasn't recovered his memories and YZJ wants to have s*x.

It was so promising until the two got together and from then on, all this novel became was all YZJ wanting to have s*x and LX getting forced to.

[collapse]

Ah-Li, Da Bai and Song Xiaohu are the ones that carried this story for me. They were so cute but all we can read about is YZJ and his issues and nymphomaniac tendencies. <<less

To be honest, the first 2 volumes and some chapters here and there were good but I gave it a low rating since it got crazy starting from vol. 3. It slowly became uninteresting and it even seemed like the author had given more thought in the R18 scenes rather than the plot itself. I also find the MC's death-revival cycle a bit boring and the ML's forceful tendencies disconcerting.

I would rate the first two volume 4.5 stars and the last two volumes a 3. Thus I gave 4 as a midground. I'll explain why.

The story started out really well. You got to know the characters and the world. When you read through it you can clearly see that there is a foreshadowing and future plot development in it. With this, you'll probably expect to see how the story develops along with the characters.

But I was a bit disappointed with the second half. It feels like the author suddenly... more>> dumped the plot development of the world and just focused (really focus) on the couple's relationship. Everything that happened feels rushed and like it was put together just for the sake of the couple's development. A lot of plot holes are left behind.

If you're the type of person who wants a story with a good flow, solid plot, character and world development. This may not be the novel for you.

But if your okay with the contents on the novel being focused on the main cp on their 'you run and I chase' ploy and don't mind the plot kinda derailing. You can give it a go.

A quick warning tho
Spoiler

the last two volume is jampacked with s*xual content (it was mentioned in the tags) not for the faint hearted.

As everyone said the 1st n 2nd volumes were good but I felt like it goes downhill in the 3rd volume. It went from a XuanHuan novel to a full smut novel, and I stopped reading at the end of 3rd novel because the ending pisses me off.

some discrepancies: MC is aware that ML blackened due to his misunderstandings with protagonist. MC said "gotta make sure theres no misunderstanding between us!" then proceed to not clear the misunderstanding between them asap, instead he waits for a while before telling ML... more>> how he actually feels, making ML get angry at him. Hmm.

Spoiler

same thing as above but MC told ML that "he wont die" and proceed to commit su*cide. Like that pissed me off so much.

I'm also pissed that MC

keeps dying. He died for the first time? Sure ok. He died the 2nd time? Allright whatever. Then he died for the 3rd time. Like what the f*ckkk is he even here for?? Just to die? So annoying. The novel started out great. Just like everyone else is saying, volume 1 was awesome, volume 2 was pretty good! Volume 3 definitely crossed into some no no territory, volume 4 was mostly no no territory. Ling Xia is great! He's super adorable and loveable, he's always sacrificing himself for the protagonist and the villain. The ML on the other hand was just... no. It didn't really make sense on how he fell in love with the MC. I mean all was fine and dandy until he was like, hey... more>> I'm feeling thirsty so Imma just force myself on the MC. The plot, at first, was super interesting and great! The other characters were also pretty interesting. I liked how it was shown a mix between the real world and the novel world, at least it was fine in the beginning. The third volume was tolerable if you just skipped all the s*x like scenes and pretend they never existed. The fourth novel was were I definitely lost 99% of any appreciation I still had left for the book. r*pe is blatantly just not okay. It doesn't matter if the MC had fallen in love with you in the past. ML, you're the reason the MC lost his memories. I don't care how h**ny you are, you shouldn't r*pe him! MC, don't go back to your rapist! I get that you love him, but no! No r*pe! ahurgrgngrml, mdfkjfewu The MC even expressed how uncomfortable he was with being forced to have s*x with another guy! It also made me sad that all of the other characters were just swept under the rug. The only reason I gave this novel a 3/5 and not a 2/5 is because the plot was pretty decent if you ignored all the r*pe. The characters actually really loved each other, but the author went too far. The only reason I didn't drop the novel was because I pretended the s*x scenes didn't exist and just skipped them... So if you want to at least kinda enjoy this novel, lie to yourself and skip the s*x scenes (or I guess skim read them, sometimes there will be stuff that's important after the s*x scene, so you would need to know where it ends). <<less
