ED is the type of story that hangs onto every single thing and explores every detail to an obnoxious degree. Add to that a bunch of arrogance and over-blown proportions and you'll get this novel. Every single thing in this novel is exaggerated, from character reactions and backstories to the grandiose fights and plot line. Everything is unnecessarily blown up, and it makes descriptions boring. Especially when the MC easily tops whatever anyone else does just because. Any effect is taken away when enemy is a leader of millions of... more>> people is wiped by the MC in a single move. Whenever the MC goes against an enemy there isn't an "oh damn, sh*t is about to go down". Instead it's more of "okay, let's see the MC win in a matter of seconds". So far nothing actually matters because the MC has a solution for everything, literally everything. Cultivation? Easy. Resources? Treasure troves are everywhere. Knowledge? He's lived for millions of years, there's no one that knows more than him.

The fun of watching someone being powerful isn't there either, we don't see him grow, in these 1000 chapters he hasn't given a single reason why we should care about him. Not to mention that he is super arrogant. In fact he'd be the perfect setup for an antagonist. Super powerful, long lived and stubbornly set in his way or no way. He mu*ders millions of being on a whim and couldn't care less about anyone aside from himself. The plot isn't helping much either when so far all he's done is go around collecting stuff from various worlds.

All in all, the protagonist is unlikable and the story is repetitive. It's self-aggrandising and really can only be read if you can stand an enormous amount of arrogance. <<less

This novel was good at the start it world building is amazing and definately it strongest point And the MC personality was refleshing at the start but then it get formulaic and even though the quality of the story overall did change much but it just gone stale the author drag the story out too and use the formula of : arogant young master talking tr*sh about the MC ->MC talk about his bullsh*t dao heart and how he is so awesome-> arogant young master get angry and attack him... more>> ->he beat/kill them-> their clan/ancestor come for revenge->they do/don't recognize him->get reck or begged for mercy->he kill everyone or spare them-> every one sh*t themselves about how "awesome MC is. (Formular 1)

Some big clan/sect is having a major problem->MC come and fix it for something he want->they rejected him because of their ego->some one more humble try the MC way->it work->they press the MC for his secrect->he beat/kill them-> their clan/ancestor come for revenge->they do/don't recognize him->get reck or begged for mercy->he kill everyone or spare them-> every one sh*t themselves about how "awesome MC is (formula 2)

There are meme in my country novel reading comunity about how the MC just playing with ant and the author is practicing the grand dao of filler. Overall if free time then read a good chunk then drop it. It not gonna get any better the author just continue to write for money at this point there no heart left. <<less

Fantastic.

Despite how prevalent the trait is in this genre, no protagonist compares to Li Qiye in being domineering. No matter the odds, no matter how bad things look, he's got everything under control and knows exactly what he's doing.

The world-building is pretty solid, characters, places or things mentioned offhand in an earlier chapter can be extremely relevant hundreds or thousands of chapters down the line.

Attaining true immortality is interestingly done in this series, it's not simply a matter of cultivating until you reach it like some other stories portray it,... more>> it's a far more far-reaching matter that requires a massive amount of knowledge and comprehension beyond what just about anyone in the series sees.

Highly recommended, it has become one of my favorite series.

If I had to list one complaint, there's a lack of s*x in the story. That's not to say there's no flirting or no s*x at all, but it's definitely not a significant part of the story despite how many female compatriots he gets. Normally that would bother me a lot, but it makes more sense to me in the specific context of Li Qiye's character. <<less

This novel is like playing skyrim, the MC goes on a main quest, but f*cks around and either gets distracted by the side quest or uses sidequests to pass the time or do something related to the main quest, if convenient enough. Our MC almost knows everything (which means he has the knowledge and power cultivated) aside from the 5% that he’s trying to figure out (main quest) and starts massacres anytime someone crosses him. At the same time basically amazing people and then leaving them after a period of... more>> time. Basically, lots of good ideas, ends up being repetitive with filler. The worldbuilding and his “main quest” deserve 5 stars but the “sidequests” end up being stale and repetitive and deserves 2stars, since the author does tweak them just enough that im not completely bored. <<less

Everything up to the spoiler is translated on wuxiaworld. Com.

The MC's name is Li Qiye. He used to be a normal shepherd until his body was stolen by a cult. They took out his soul and put it in the body of an Immortal Crow or the Dark Crow. As the Dark Crow, he flew to every nook and cranny of the world and explored everywhere. He along with another person created Alchemy. Because he was Immortal, he started training a bunch of kids and made them into legends, known... more>> to the world as the "Dark Hand Behind the Curtain" or the "Forbidden Existence". Every time the 9 worlds suffered a crisis, he and his students slaughtered the threat and sometimes he was called by everyone as a "Hero", but he is no hero. He only has a bottom line and if that line if crossed by anyone, they brutally die. He continued this for millions of years until he was forced into his body and that's how the story starts.

After gaining his new body, he makes it as overpowered as possible. He goes through the 9 worlds and slaughters all the geniuses that get on his path to the truth. After becoming Immortal Emperor, he ascends to the 10th world where he does a bunch of stuff until he goes to the Immortal World (Note: There are no immortals. Just a bunch of name with the word "Immortal").

Spoiler

He never meets his love/maid/etc from the 9 worlds, 10th world, after entering the 3 Immortal Worlds. In the first Immortal World, he finds the Longevity Scripture that was left by the Immortal Demon Grotto Master because he was from the 3 Immortal Worlds. The first Immortal World is boring.

In the second Immortal World, he pretends to become one of those tr*sh young masters, everyone thinks he's a mortal, inherits the biggest power sect/country in the second Immortal World, everyone mocks him, his 3 of 4 of his meant to be concubines mock him for being tr*sh, he teaches the concubine that doesn't mock him skillz. For the other 3 he: shames one of them in front of their sect, f*cks another pretty much in front of her another guy that loves her and that she loves (he f*cks and mindf*cks her;literally conquers her very being), and makes another keep regretting for life.

In the third Immortal World, it's pretty much the same as any of the 9 worlds plot, i.e. Stone medicine world, mortal emperor world, etc. BUT AFTER THIS, he goes to a place called Impassable Sea where every First Ancestors goes to if they want to increase their cultivation (First Ancestors are basically above Immortal Emperors/Dao Emperors with 12 Heaven Will/ 12 fate palces). He kills every sea creature (millions and billions of them that are at First Ancestor level) to draw out a hidden boss (also called Supreme Giant). This boss serves another bigger boss that Li Qiye wants to kill. Li Qiye draws this boss out and kills him. Right after he kills the boss, OTHER subordinates of the BIG BOSS come. They f*ck up Li Qiye while the Big Boss watches. They eat his flesh and suck out his soul because in Emperor's Domination if you want to become IMMORTAL, there are two ways: one is to eat all the living beings of the era or to pursue the truth of cultivation. They are clearly the eating type so they want to eat Li Qiye because he has the greatest Daoheart is the history. Li Qiye smiles in amus**ent and uses the bright piller he took out of his treasure vault in the 9 worlds. He detonates it and it kills the Supre Giant Subordinates, the BIG BOSS, and it literally resets all of reality. The cultivation system changes, countless years pass, and Li Qiye "dies".

When he wakes up, he finds out he's in the 8 Desolates, a new area which was the result of the 9 Worlds and 10th World combining when the bright pillar was detonated. He also finds out he's literally a mortal in cultivation, BUT he can still kill False Immortals (False Immortals are above First Ancestors) with the Thought Scripture he got from the 10th World. He leads a group of kids to a Divine Profound Sect or something where everyone calls him tr*sh because of his cultivation. He makes the hottest girl in the sect into his maid and the two other cucks get pissed because of that. There's a competition where everyone mocks him for not knowing the immensity of the heavens, so he gets the best results in all 3. He pisses off one of the lords of the sect because one of the cucks that was cucked was cucked. He also finds the turtle from Stone Medicine World was alive and he was the founder of the sect he's in. AND THAT'S WHERE THE MTL'S AT!!!!!!!!

I like the plot of ED (exciting)

  • Praise the author for his wide imagination
I just don't like the way he describe things though

  • What the f**k heaven defying (we already get it, why still need to emphasize)
  • Explanations about history are quite short (too many mystery) - I don't get it
I really approve the thoughts of Daoist brother "beddedOtaku" (this novel should rename "THE FILLER")

Then why I'm still reading this?

  • Because it's still worth anticipating the next scene

So with this I officially drop this novel as at this point in time I don't know why I'm still reading it. So before I leave let me ask you guys a question whats so interesting about this novel?

1. Is it the action? - So far I don't remember the MC ever loosing a fight which makes this so predictable. 2. Is it the romance/harem? - The MC only cares about his mission and will not settle for anyone. 3. Is it the story? - The story makes it seem as if everything is a secret within a secret so unless you're really the type to think a lot after reading a story then this story isn't for you. 4. Is it the cultivation ? - The story never goes In depth on the protagonists cultivation realm so most of the time we don't know the protagonists proper cultivation realm.

If there's anything I can call masterpiece in this novel is how the author knows how to play around with peoples feelings through things like hype, build up and suspense.

Spoiler

I've read up to 3245 and still fail to understand what the mc's proper goal and his reasons are.

The mc's cultivation is discarded 3 times in the story 3 times

[collapse]

Is the story good or not?

Yes the story is good

why is it bad?

  • The authors exaggerative writing style (it gets boring after some time)
  • The protagonist is almighty (never lost a fight in 3245 chapters).
  • After reading the story it gets hard to remember a lot because of how elusive the story is from the point. (Sometimes you just want the author to get to the point)

Read up to about 1500 and will stop till more translations are out.

_____

Emperor's Domination can be summed up with the phrase "formulaic" which isn't necessarily bad yet neither is it good. See the novel has an interesting premise which is that most of the story has already occurred with the protagonist himself playing a key role in the various worlds for the past 10 million or so years and everything from the beginning of the story is his own personal journey in the cultivation world. This is certainly a more... more>> novel past and lets the protagonist be overpowered immediately due to experience rather then genius as he has 10 million or so years of experience with perfect memory. It is really cool as a whole as there is basically no luck or real "plot armour" involved that feels cheap as everything can be explained as having prior knowledge and profound insight into the workings of the world.

Issues with the novel however, are as follows:

1. Repetitious plot with each arc being similarly as follows "Enter new area, Find new girl / Companion, Pretend to be weak before flaunting to the max when it matters, discover vague super secret, repeat"

2. Vague-ness for vagueness sake, the author has had plenty of chances of better exploring the history of the MC, and the world as a whole, inaddition to better introducing and discussing various things within the world but instead keeps everything vague and not the mystical sort but rather an attempt to mystyfy. Example would be the numerous occasions that the MC with prior knowledge discusses some sort of legendary object repeatedly in the most abstract way possible internally and only lets the cat out of the bag upon finding said object. There was plenty of chances to introduce and discuss these objects at various stages but instead the author made everything as vague as possible. This applies doubly so to the MC's past which is only mentioned in short spurts which is sad as it could have been so much better. <<less

I don't mind shallow stories with cultivators.

But the plot here is so flat, dialogues so generic, opponents copypased from one cliche. It's too damn much!

And the novel lacks proper cultivation. It sucks.

Emperor's Domination is a combination of OP MC but not on the level of being op for no reason/finds some op cultivation manual and becoming op from that, the MC has a proper history and backstory that is even being discovered and discussed in the latest chapters, the MC is extremely smart and always thinks 10 steps ahead, he is shown to be kind to people on his side and will help them or extremely ruthless to his enemies, he also understand the logic of pulling the weeds out at... more>> the roots (Killing not only the person, but the witnesses/friends/sect if need be which some novels dont seem to understand.). The novel is extremely well written in terms of combat even with the MC being very powerful, definitely a novel I recommend to people who like powerful but not s*upid MC. <<less

The author of this novel is very good to paint an image with his imagination. The world is very interesting.
While some dislike this novel because of the MC, its the reason others love it. Sometimes you just want to read a story about a machinegun against sticks.

The story starts off with a mysterious OP MC who slowly rebuilds his power so his fallen sect can rise once again. The calm and ruthless MC cultivates immortal physiques and emperor's legacies while snatching immortal treasures from all around the world. This is a story of one man against the world!

Then we switch to an arrogant pe*verted MC who tr*sh talks against all of his enemies and neutral parties halfway through the story. Once the world building is finished and the harem building starts, that's when things go astray.... more>> The first and second harem members are still okay, but then when it came to the third, fourth, fifth, and so on, the MC begins to show his pe*verted self and start kissing and slapping his harem members' butts left and right. The initial impression of a cold MC somehow suddenly turns into a pe*verted arrogant brat, but of course, the MC does have the right to be arrogant since he is OP with a ton of knowledge, but the drastic change in character is way too inconsistent with his image. The way he thinks, acts, and speaks does not match up and very obvious loopholes begin to show up.

The side characters including the harem members have little to no depth, basically no background or defining characteristics to be recognized. All of the side characters fall into either two categories: 1. Allies (all the characters that suck up to the MC because he threatened, coerced, bribed, blackmailed, or straight up forced them to due to his OPness) or 2. Enemies (all the arrogant geniuses and undying c*ckroaches that keep on coming back for revenge after the MC kills off one or two descendants of an ancestor). The descriptions of the harem members are so plain that if I didn't know they each came from different worlds/countries/lineage then I would have thought they were all sisters/twins or something. The harem members are described as "fairies" because one of them possess a mature beauty, while the other have a seductive charm, and the other is a cute beauty, and another is a cold beauty, like are you for real. I can barely tell them apart because the same adjectives are literally being used over and over again. The most disappointing part about this novel is that the MC starts off with a respectful attitude regarding gender equality then immediately after crushes it. The MC changes to a egotistical sexist that basically claims, "I can handle any woman, they are nothing to me. I can have as many concubines as I want and do not need to respect their opinions at all. If someone refuses to join my harem, I can just use force." So I am dropping this novel. I only held on for so long in the hopes that the MC may change his ways or revert back to his former character, but nope, his personality and tr*sh talking just gets worse and more annoying. <<less

After spending a whole week reading this until the latest translated chapter, what's really interesting about Emperor's Domination for me is the content, the history, the background of the story that leaves me imagining how different and diverse the Nine Worlds are. In some novels you might get bored a bit when the author build the world around the characters and explaining details and stuff, but for this one, I was surprised that I read through every detail as if I was immerse with the history about Immortal Emperors, powerful... more>> Godkings, the Ancient Ming, and those amazing eras.

As for the main protagonist, Li Qiye... if people think of him as a mastermind that control behind the scenes of war and domination for millions of years before his human revival, then he has all the rights to be arrogant as he wants. Another good thing about him is he's decisive, ruthless, extreme, but he repays favors and good intentions. Sure, most of his enemies are way inferior and pretty much ignorant, but in reality no one would expect a young unknown human to be the Dark Crow who taught Immortal Emperors throughout the ages right?

I guess the only problem this novel has is that Li Qiye is too overpowered to the point that he could pretty much one-shot his way through most of his enemies. Don't get me wrong, it's enjoyable, but it's still a little flaw that makes you expect less from the MC's enemies, since most of them will die in one or two chapters anyway.

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the story, and hope that we'll be able to read sequels about earlier Immortal Emperors such as Min Ren, Hong Tian, or the war against the Ancient Ming. <<less

This could have been a wicked xianxia version of The Count of Monte Cristo. Unfortunately, this is the story of a brat bent on slapping every face in the universe.

The main character, Li Qi Ye, is a million-year-old being. He ought to be taking revenge against the demons who imprisoned him; and yet this is the last thing on his mind. He despises life and nothing truly interests him. I wonder, therefore, why doesn't he just kill himself? It would make much more sense as far as the story goes.

First ever review of anything on Novel updates. So far this is the only thing other than ISSTH that I haven't drop after 3-400 chapters or so.

Con: 764 chapters in and I still have no clue how the cultivation system works since there's like the standard system (which from now on I'm going to refer to as level) and then there's the physique system and the Palace system and the Star system or what ever system the author deem necessary.

Pro: There's none of that early lvl 10, mid early lvl... more>> 10, peak early lvl 10, then early mid lvl10 and so on and so forth bull-crap from other Chinese novels. I mean how many parts of a single level are there do ya freakin need? Do you really have to explain every freaking % of the exp bar?

Con: MC is no where near the top with his level but always kicking ass regardless of the massive level difference between him and his opponents.

Pro: MC is no where near the top with his level but always kicking ass regardless of the massive level difference between him and his opponents.

Con: Every fight seems to say some crap about a mountain destroying or sky shattering attack. It's like Chinese people doesn't know what a mountain or the sky is.

Pro: I haven't encounter/notice the problem with author/translator not knowing how distance works. There's none of that moving million of miles with a single step bull-crap and then saying it takes 14 days to reach the other side of a forest or so. I mean do you even math? A million of miles a step and it takes 14 days? How big is your freaking world? Does your dam story happen in a black-hole or something? I though Asians are supposed to be Math smart and yet reading so many other Chinese novels and they keep repeating that crap.

Con: Like every other Chinese novel, enemies are always arrogant as fk, MC is always underestimated, plenty of that peanut gallery dropping their jaw due to how awesome a skill/power MC/Opponent displays, plenty of that enemy is now regretting bullshit, plenty of info dumps, plenty of filler contents in general.

Pro: MC never runs away from a fight and always wins due to some kind of Preparation.

Con: MC is supper arrogant.

Pro: MC is supper arrogant and he has the necessary tools to back that up. Dude's been in existence for god knows how long. He know almost all the secrets there is to know and the story is about him solve those secrets and some new ones.

Con: MC knows his sh*t so every ark a repetitive cycle using the same formula but with a differing scenery and details. MC meets new people, recruits new people, find old treasures/weapons. Supper cunning enemy shows up and use other people to attack MC. MC kills those minions and then goes on the kill the cunning enemy.

Pro: MC knows his sh*t and knows where to find his tools and I mean his tools since they do usually belong to him at one time or another in ages past. There's none of that crap about suddenly encountering a super mega ultimate item in a random cave.

Con: MC is a masochist who like to be attacked. He always let his enemy hit him first repeatedly before either killing them or beating them. Story would be a lot shorter if MC kills off his enemies after establishing that they are his enemies instead of just leaving them to their schemes knowing full well they are going to attack him again.

Pro: There's no mountain too high and none of his super bad enemies survives and MC never runs away or hides his power. There's none of that crap about hiding his true powers for no dam reason. He uses his powers when ever he deem them necessary.

Con: He's like Goku when ever Goku fights an enemy. Never using your full power at the start and slowly increase the power output so that he can enjoy the fight.

Pro: Harem. I mean, lets be realistic here. He's a perfectly healthy male who been stuck in the body of a crow for millennias. Why in the hell would you choose to recruit males when there are females who can do the same. The female to male ratio of his subordinates is usually equal. The MC does go out of his way to recruit females whereas the males are easily recruited due to his dominating awesomeness.

Con: No sexy content what so ever and lot of kingdom destroying beauties everywhere.

Pro: No sexy content. There's p*rn for that and I rather not have to stop reading because I have a sudden need to fap.

End Goal: Generally there is kinda an end goal in mind and that's perfect in a novel. I've read plenty of Novel updates novels and have no clue what the whole dam purpose is after the first ark. The end goal of this novel is that this guy is reaching the apex so that he can get his revenge on this mysterious place that hasn't been talk about for hundreds of chapters after the early chapters. He's now traveling around the world/worlds to reclaim his treasures that he has hidden throughout the millennias that he has existed. At the same time reminiscing about the old times and places like all old men do while traveling. He's also recruiting people to help him and repaying debts of gratitude of old friends like what good old people would do. <<less

Disclaimer: I didn't make it very far so maybe it gets better.

Usually authors make a character relatable and likeable by showing us their struggles. That's what makes readers cheer for them when they overcome their adversities. There is none of that here. The MC has already reached the end of his journey. He knows everything and can do anything.

For character development we get infodumps of past events such as:

Spoiler

Li Qiye did not mind the Chaotic Heart Forest. During the Desolace Era, he spent his time being tortured; his soul severed from his body. He had suffered from the hands of heavenly demons, trapped by the Ancient Ming. He spent what felt like an eternity without sunlight and underwent many torturous ordeals. Although the body of the dark crow was immortal; painful sensations still existed.

[collapse]

That sort of thing over and over again. It's so bad that the character often approaches being one-dimensional. There's a poor schmuck stuck following the MC around that has more personality.

If you want to read an MC effortlessly roll over everything then maybe this story is for you. <<less

This is a very very different than other novels. It's very easy going, you can say our MC is the best best in the world whether he has 0 level or max level cultivation, so you never get a feeling of something bad, from first to last chapter (latest raw) everything is under is control or with in his plan, so the mc's victory in every arc satisfies us fully. May be that's why everyone is telling that it's very repetitive but it's the dominance that we can see in our MC in entire novel that's hardly seen in any novel. In most of novels only at the beginning stages MC seems overpowered or knowledgeable (may be because of reincarnation), but in ED till the latest raw you can get this feeling from the MC. So may be sometimes you can skip some time then again read it. The most different thing (which is most satisfying for me) here is the reply or reaction of MC to very high high levels cultivators or sects when they try to bully or pressurize him due to his low level. Even after his actions (may be killing or insulting them) , like other novels you don't have to worry about mc's life or being killed by other high levels char. As for romance, even though it is tagged 'harem' but no tagging of 'romance'. So don't expect mutual romance (at least from mc's side).
Spoiler

But you can have flirting (sometimes 2/3 girls at once) & kissing.

[collapse]
As for left behind girls in the series, there are some but if MC once take them as concubine/maid/disciple, you can obviously find them later on. So it's a definitely a satisfying reading and one of the different one than common novels.

I honestly don't understand how everyone is so quick to give this a 5/5. To be fair, it a good read if you like the strong reincarnated MC type but my gosh are there a lot of information monologues. The worst part is that they slip their way into every chapter; it's gotten to the point where I end up skipping a lot of paragraphs. Moreover, it doesn't seem to be going away ~ I'm honestly impressed by the amount of bull this author can make up... Likewise, if it's... more>> not information monologues it's Chinese idioms repeated over and over; if not that it's straight out repetitions. Hence, the author is the type of author that will explain everything to detail, leave nothing for inference (especially the obvious stuff) and will make sure over and over to repeat useless banter as if he was worried that no one would understand him. I can really sympathize with the translator of this novel... In short, it can be a really irritating read.

Aside from that, it's a pretty generic reincarnation story (which I like) whereby the MC starts off weak and becomes strong through his knowledge of martial techniques etc. etc.

To be honest, based off of the description I really did believe that he would be OP from the start but I digress. Initially everyone makes fun of his weak talent but he's arrogant, knowledgeable and OP at heart so he doesn't give a f***. Eventually he becomes OP and voila, you have Emperor's Domination ~ Congrats, you've read the novel.

Keep in mind that I have read Martial Emperor Reborn, Zhanxian and TMW which are in my opinion the worst offenders for information monologues; comparatively speaking, it's not as bad as Zhanxian's early chapters (currently the record holder for unnecessary information monologues) but it's equal to if not slightly worse than MER's capacity for bull spewing.

In any case, in terms of personal enjoyment I can give it a solid 3/5 or a shaky 3.5/5; honestly, this would be so much better without the *listed above* issues. In spite of everything I've said, I can still happily recommend it to you if you like the OP reincarnated MC genre.

[EDIT after CH 199] I honestly feel like it's become a lot better; normally, with most CNs, the opposite would happen and I'd be getting bored of the novel but with ED I find that the issues I had with it are pretty much gone. Upgrading my rating to a 4/5 yeah! <<less

Amazing series really. 4.5/5 so far.

The MC Li Qiye, born in a ancient time as a shepherd (or some such), is suddenly woken up after being transformed and ens*aved as a crow for eons (so far we haven't really got to se how long he was actually under the spell, but it was millions of years at the very least). The time he wakes up in is a far cry from when he went into sleep/hibernation. As you can imagine, a being that has been around since the dawn of... more>> man is of course shocked to see the state of decline the once supreme and super powerful sect he once helped found as the almighty crow, the legends of his deeds are just that, legends, and the "crow" is seen as a semi-legendary deity. The sect is in shambles, has long lost it's past pride & glory and is on the verge of imploding due to internal strife and outside pressure. Not that uncommon in xianxias true, but what is uncommon is the fact that people actually care for the sect and it's disciples. Following the turnaround of the sect and the actual good people still in the sect, is very different from the way too common atrocious bad sects you find in a lot of other novels in the genre, where disciples is going around killing each other for no reason whatsoever and where the elders don't give a damn about anything else but power. From there on we follow Li Qiye on his quest of restoring his sects glory and get revenge for being ens*aved for millions of years. Equipped with all that experience he gained when he traveled the world as the crow, he starts to clean house, literary. He basically runs circles around the the various powerful elders, arrogant geniuses and the proud and arrogant "beauty's" that are oh so common in xianxias. The world building is great, the various side characters are mostly good, the MC is f*cking amazing, the plot is deep, mysterious and quite unique for the genre. After almost 200 chapters I still cant figure out where the plot is heading or where the powerful villains who once ens*aved him are or even how powerful they are or even their agenda. There are no training arcs, followed by beating up a powerful villain, which leads to a defeat by a new and more powerful villain, train and then rinse and repeat this novel. No, the MC is a damned ancient being, almighty and all knowing, despite him starting of as the regular "tr*sh amongst tr*sh" as in other novels, he with his supreme knowledge and experience, time and time again defies the logic and ends up on top, most often with knowledge instead of pure OP power. Despite the fact that the MC is regarded as arrogant, he has actual grounds for acting like that, since he has both the power and knowledge to back it up and uses that knowledge to play with his poor enemies. Which also makes this novel very funny at times when he plays with these arrogant, cardboard villains. Which is one of few downsides of the series, the villains are quite bad and way to weak so far.
Spoiler

At the start of the novel he is supposed to go and marry one of those arrogant beauty's belonging to a more powerful sect, which are o so common for the genre, in accord to an ancient vow. A vow which he then promptly declines, takes control of the sects super powerful guardians, which was actually gifted to the sect by himself to the sects founder after he kept nagging the MC over and over again. Instead he states that all he can do for her is to have her follow him as his sword maiden, which is a huge honor in his eyes. Now imagine a proud woman like that having to follow a young man who on the outside has very little talent/power and despite that acts like he is a god among men. This in turn leads to lots of hilarity when the hotblooded male geniuses sees this so called "tr*sh" having such a beautiful and talented woman following him as a lowly servant. Along the way he picks up some very interesting followers who also provides some great comedic moments at times.

[collapse]

All things considered, this is a really great novel and if you like badass MC's who has both the knowledge and means to play with his enemies, despite looking like a talentless young teenage weakling, you'll love this novel. The annoyingly and way too common useless beta male leads, who stammers and blushes and acts like a 13 year old at the sight of a good looking woman showing a tiny bit of skin is nowhere to be found here. Hell, he sees the potential of the people instead of caring about their status or looks. While other people acts like that and the women thinks the MC is the same as a regular young teenager, he quietly laughs at the antics of the children around him. For that's just what they are to a being that's been around since the dawn of mankind. While it's certainly not the best xianxia novel I've read, it's one of the better amongst the huge pile of generic sh*t around. Let's hope it doesn't drop the quality like so many other novels that started out great, just to drop in quality a few hundred chapters in. <<less
