My first cultivation novel and my most favorite xianxia. I really really love the world building in this novel, although maybe it's because I already fell in love with the world prior to reading the novel due to my experience playing the MMORPG which was based on Zhu Xian. I also really appreciate how the MC is a true underdog in this novel, unlike the many op/genius protagonists that I find in most novels. The name change in the translation was confusing for me though.

This novel was well written and captivating in its plot development and story. Just like all good xianxia novels, it suffers the problem of not going all the way in the world building. The main character is all simpy and stuff but never outgrows all the romantic drama, which is why he's trapped in love triangles, romantic dramas in a world where people butcher each other on a daily basis and get to do it again like usual. You would think that with all the "emotional maturity" depicted in this... more>> world, the smart beings wouldn't be trapped in a strong eat weak world. The story itself remains generic and nothing can surprise you apart from the characters' actions. Which also later on becomes predictable if you consider the path they're headed to. <<less

This novel is Xuanhuan not true Xianxia, the MC you see to be good (heroes) are not exactly 'good' as you would think as generic Xianxia MC should be, though this part is not important. This novel is quite unique and different unlike most Xianxia out there which the MC always carrying 'holier than thou' attitude, this MC is like one of those JP novels MC, the 'I am inferior' type. But this MC have growth and change in characters unlike most generic Xianxia novels.

I keep thinking, if side character... more>> (like MC best friend) of other Xianxia novels were to be made MC and be given character growth we would have same thing as we have on this novel.

The last part, those name... It's not real Chinese name isn't? <<less

The storyline can be considered unique and quite interesting. The MC does not have the easily distinguishuable strength which makes it slightly hard for the reader to grasp the strength of said person. As for the MC, when he goes “evil” mode, and he does quite often, he is quite the kickass and I liked these parts. However, his “good” side is just so naive and dumb sometimes I just wanna hit my against the wall. (Dont misunderstand me, being good here and there is refreshing, unlike the psycho MC... more>> in MGA and such, but being just this naive dumb is just annoying)

This novel focuses heavily on the emotional level instead of the traning / cultivating xianxias like CD or ATG. The repetitive emotional scenes are a bit awkward sometimes, especially since the MC doesnt seem to emotionally grow for a long time and pounder about the same things that hurt him over and over again.

As for the translation, the first ~70 chapters are badly translated, but it is still appreciated. You might have to re-read a line once or twice once again to get the meaning. <<less
