The CEO’s Cute and Delicate Daughter

Description

Yu MengMeng has transmigrated into a CEO’s runaway bride novel as the “bun”, as in “bun in the oven”.

Her mother was a strong, delicate, yet sometimes scatter-brained woman. She worked very hard to raise her and her brother, but her mother somehow still ended up owing a lot of money. There was also a string of crazy relatives.

Her twin brother was a high-IQ genius child. The little boy took on the responsibilities of taking care of both his mother and his little sister. He was both her dad and her mother. He was so protective that she barely had any friends.

Yu MengMeng, albeit being a transmigrator, had forgotten much of her past and was just a cute and silly little girl.

***
One day, when she was on her way home from kindergarten, Yu MengMeng “picked up” an injured man. That man looked 90% like her own twin brother and also looked very wealthy. Thinking of how poor they were and how hard her mother and brother worked for money, she decided to swindle some money from this rich-looking man!

I adored this novel. As in the description, it's the typical josei drama but from the lens of a sweet child. The appeal of this is a lot of meng family moments, with less focus on the dogblood moments between FL and ML that those dramas typically have (which may or may not be a negative depending on your tastes). However, the novel still does retain a lot of action and drama which moves the story along.

Personally, I continued to read because I adored the father-daughter moments. Although it's tagged... more>> transmigration, the only thing MC retains is that she's the daughter of the FL protagonist in a book –otherwise she behaves like any standard 4 year old would (at least by novel definitions). Her main goal is to have a nice, happy family and it's fun to visualise the lil princess advising the tough CEO father on how to woo her mother. I think my personal small downsides were the amount of canonfodder who kept interrupting the healing family life (there's not too much but sometimes I wonder over their necessity). But again, the biggest appeal of this novel is the father-daughter moments. Though I did also love seeing the MC's eventual growth and maturity in the extras.

Overall: 4.5/5 <<less

This novel started off rough for me. I didn’t particularly like Yu MengMeng’s mom and the choices she made (i.e. Wanting to quit her job to escape He Zhongyuan). But I’m glad I persevered through the first 20ish chapters cause the story gets better around chapter 30.

I enjoyed the familial love throughout the novel and the growing bonds between the Yu siblings and their dad.

The group of friends, that included Su XiaoWei and Tang Yuqing, was a good writing choice to give Mengmeng a warm environment. Plus I enjoyed reading... more>> how they grew up. Both the good and the bad. However I’m dissatisfied with their unknown endings. Especially that Ning kid who really just up and disappeared.

That brings me to this book’s greatest problem: Pacing. At times I had a feeling that the author didn’t know what to do with her plot. We don’t get any endings for uncle Qin, or the group of friends. The ending with Ling Huan was too open and not very satisfying. Furthermore, the whole plot that some girl picked up Ling Huan’s phone was completely forgotten. As was the reason why Ling Huan stopped contacting MengMeng. We didn’t get to see why he changed into the rebellious phase and it felt like the author couldn’t care to flesh out his motivations. The brother is another example of a poorly fleshed out character. I would have loved to see more emotion from him and/or get an epilogue for him. The author almost treated him as a plot device to provide emotional support and counselling for his sister. Anyways, the last 10-15 chapters were way too rushed.

I did enjoy this book nevertheless, but I’m not sure if it’s worth a re-read. I still recommend it to anyone who loves heartwarming family stories.

p.s He Zhongyuan was definitely my favourite character and he made the book so much better. <<less

I MTL the story because I thought the premise was very cute, and it is indeed a very cute fluffy story. The MC is very perfect Mary Sue if it bothers some people, but she’s also a little kid so it doesn’t bother me too much. She’s reincarnated but she doesn’t have a perfect memory of her past life, it’s kind of like a fuzzy dream, so her thinking is in line with her age, just with a boost of maturity from her dreams.

Things tend to resolve itself very smoothly... more>> with little conflict, but the best parts is the father/daughter fluffy times which I enjoyed and the story isn’t really about drama anyway.

However, the time skips towards the end makes for adult characters that appeared prominently kind of just disappear. I get that as she gets older, the focus is shifted more to her younger generation, but I wish for at least a little more at least regarding one character.

Anyway, in summary, the story is lite, obviously the focus is on the father/daughter relationship, don’t read expecting depth or twists. But enjoy a fluffy story slightly different from the other reincarnation ones. <<less

Slow and fluffy read, with the main focus being cute family interactions. It was hilarious how she coached her dad not to be a stereotypical novel CEO ML, to communicate properly, and not bully her mom 😂 Especially when it references the original story, which was full of misunderstandings, dog blood plots, and that the author had been writing it for years with no sign of stopping. I could definitely feel the pain, looking at certain novels that are thousands of chapters of dramas, no end in sight.

Although I generally... more>> enjoyed it, I do feel the pacing went wonky toward the end. There are several characters that basically vanished (their aunt from the beginning, for one), and others that felt like they were left without resolution. The main story ended rather abruptly, then the bonus chapters did some major time skips with the kids, and I really wasn’t satisfied with how that turned out. The story with Ling Huan needed a LOT of fleshing out to make sense. I read the majority in MTL, so I probably didn’t get a very clear idea of what was happening, but his whole family seemed to suck in the end.

At least it’s fairly short and sweet. <<less

Since most reviews are on the positive side I thought that I could bring to light the parts that weren't so enjoyable. But be warned that some of my opinions might be based on misinterpretation because I mtled this.

I really enjoyed this because there were little to no misunderstanding and the interactions between the characters were really cute, but the ending kind of ruined it for me.

There were some loose ends and it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Spoiler
    • Ning Xiao disappear and I thought he would have some sort of plotline with Tang Yuqing, but it just ended up with Tang Yuqing being sad and dull. The author literally only wrote about him when he was bullied. He was abused by his nanny when he was young, bullied by older kids in elementary school for money, and then written off from the plot because his family become bankrupt in middle school. (This is honestly my biggest problem)
    • It felt like Ling Huan changed into a completely different person. And his relationship was rushed with Yu Mengmeng so I didn't even root for them. Their relationship was cuter when they were younger in my opinion. (Btw, who was that random girl who picked up ling huan's phone?)
    • This book honestly didn't even need Yu hao. The author wrote him out for most of the book and when he's actually in the story, he just comforts Mengmeng. I wished the author did better on developing him as a character. Though I'm still glad he's there at least.
    • Mengmeng only uses her memories like once or twice and then it's completely forgotten. And this is a personal thing I didn't like, but she literally has no idea what she's doing. Maybe she paints, maybe she acts, but she honestly doesn't seem to know what she's doing. She has no motivation to do anything, just read and then she'll find out. Like, I honestly wouldn't have cared if the author didn't emphasize the fact she has no goals for the multiple times. When she was six, Mengmeng said that she'll read more before deciding so many times I thought that maybe the author would have an event that made Mengmeng really passionate about in the future, BUT NO. She just studies to study and falls in love with ling huan.
[collapse]

But, I did get emotionally attached to the characters so maybe that's why I was so unsatisfied with the ending. The characters are written to be really likeable and the plot flowed pretty nicely before the ending. It was a nice and short read that's easy to mtl. I would recommend people who love fluffiness to read this cute story.

This novel is so cute! I read this on a MTL site. The story is from the perspective of a child. Very refreshing take of rebirth with the usual josei romance trope of rich CEO Dad and beautiful Mom. I wish there are more novels like this. This novel is going to be in my favorite pile!

Its a cute story about a doting obedient adorable girl who is a lovely daughter/niece/granddaughter.

However there are a lot of dogblood drama involving family drama, drugs and human trafficking. It’s a lot of dogblood drama but the MC does not do anything to solve them. That’s cause she’s a child transmigrator who has no memory of the “novel” that she read. The problems are solved by her family.

Anyway, the interactions between her and her father is super cute. She is basically the star of the story. I wish there were... more>> more cute interactions between her twin brother and their father. I also wish there were more of their family interactions. Mostly it focuses on the MC and how everybody loves her.

It could’ve been better but it really isn’t bad. Its a cute fluffy story. <<less

Regardless of all the cliches, it's quite enjoyable and a very comfortable book to read. If you enjoy the family love, you will like this. The first 20 chs are pretty dogblood but after that it's easy sailing and happy. I skimmed all the "plot" aka rich ppl/drugs danger organizations/families and read this only for the family and friends. It was nice, supportive families and friends. I enjoyed the extras for our MC's future until ... more>>

they made LH the most tragic and emo, cliche bad boy manga teenage boy. Ok I understand why he became what he did, but I've read so many mangas of cute, obedient childhood friend who becomes a wild bad boy who plays it hard to get THAT this felt TOO cliche for me. I know this book is entirely cliche, but yea idk his complete change was not for me

I loved this story so much but the ending is so disappointing that I couldn't help but want to vent here (sorry).

I gave rating 3/5 because :

I want to rate the story 5/5 up to ch.73. Although the story at the start of the novel wasn't great, but I could already feel the fluffy relationship between Mengmeng and her father. The relationship with her other family members and friends were also pretty fluffy. There were some conflicts, of course, but they were solved quickly and it's overall a heartwarming story.

But,... more>> I want to rate 1/5 for the rest of the chapters. The change in the atmosphere of the story was to abrupt to the point it became scary. Suppose you're reading a suspense story, there might be a heartwarming ending. But this story is the opposite: it's a heartwarming story with a suspense ending. I couldn't even brace myself to read till the end.

Anyway, it's a great and recommended novel to read but I personally recommend to skip the last few chapters. <<less

Very cute very well written until chapter 49 but then it becomes an entertainment novel with MC acting. Story is MC and dad centred other charachters are almost completely useless. Brother is a plot devise to keep mom away, there are couple of chapters that would have been better if it was the final chapter. Every time something is resolved the novel become a bit more over the board, I guess that was the only way to make it longer.

Translation is good though.

Family relationship is superb especially the father and the twin brother.

However, the last chapters where they grown up are a bit messed. There are so many loopholes that didn't explain by the author.

But the storyline is still good and consistent.

after reading the ratings I was shocked. I won't call this novel a masterpiece but the interaction between the daughter and father was very interesting. I really felt funny when the daughter was chasing her father how to chase after her mother.

I REALLY REALLY love this novel! The story is consistent with the title, and whoever commented like MC is sooooo marysue-ish what do you expect from the title? Alright, I'm a little bit lost with the ending like 'oh, thats it?' But not disappointed tho. It's a very good heart warming novel. Eventho the MC is a transmigrated person, she didn't have the memories of an adult and kept her mind pure. She did have a dream about the novel she currently in tho, she only dream it in the... more>> early chapters but because she's in a toddler's body her dream is a bit fuzzy after that the author didn't mention about her dreaming again. <<less

Lately I'm into novel with cute bun involved between MC and ML and try to give this new novel a shot of MTL immediately after its release on NU. I have high expectations honestly as I am fond to have those cute buns to deepen the bond between MCs and MLs in such novels. However, I'm quite disappointed to this novel.

I will try to be as objective as possible and give it 3 stars as I feel that compared to the other novels with cute buns, this novel felt like... more>> lost its way in the plot. Here's why.

1. The main focus of this novel is Yu Meng Meng and how she conquered every other buns, uncles, aunties, grandpas with her cuteness and wits so yes, less romantic story. But I find it nonsensical believe me I am nonsensical tolerant in most novels to have 4 y.o. Girl to have the freedom to go wherever she wants to go without any guardian or permission from one.
Spoiler

She could do whatever she wants just because she is cute and everyone dotes on her and forgive her. Later, uncle an that got his heart stolen by Meng Meng took this 6 y.o. Girl and spend the day in his cruise ship that filled with adults party, I mean gambling and stuffs, without her parents knowing. And another time, she was brought by the same uncle to a club.

[collapse]

2. The memory things from her past life is kind of useless as everything is solved with Meng Meng's ultimate loveliness.
Spoiler

As described in the description, she ocassionally dreams of her past life but it was limited about the story within the book which is her current world and it didn't change her child-like behavior and thinking which kind of unique. But I just felt this function is way too convenient for her. One side she would go to deep thinking on how to avoid things from the book plot but after some thinking and a bit of the action, she rather chose to do whatever she wants as a child but hey, her charm is way stronger than the book plots.

[collapse]

3. Messy relationship.
Spoiler

Most characters are really unnecessary. The author loves to add drama after drama with more relationship between powerful families and in the end, Meng Meng's charm solved it all.

[collapse]

Overall, I just don't see how the plot progress without any magic charm of Meng Meng. Many problems are solved at the end without us knowing how things got solved except it was all thanks to Meng Meng.
Spoiler

Like how his mother and father suddenly grow from hate love relationship to ambiguous state and later engaged all of the sudden

[collapse]
I admit it is quite refreshing to see a novel with the main focus of a child but I just hope for more growth and plot instead of story on how everyone dotes on Meng Meng as 70% of the story I've read so far is how everyone pleases Meng Meng and I felt it is a bit too much.

Honestly, I felt this worth 2 stars but then gave it 3 cuz maybe I'm too biased and MTL misled some things and I decided to dropped this without finishing it. You can give it a shot if you want to try something unique and have the patience for quite nonsensical way of things in this novel. But I won't recommend it if you want romance and heartwarming family story with plot progress. <<less
