“Do you wanna make a bet? — If You survive, live for me and die for me.”

Halka, a high school student who was summoned to another world, became a magician to survive.

Disguised as a man on the battlefield, she flew to a rage towards a knight who wanted to die and after giving him healing magic that chipped away at her own life, she collapsed.

When Halka woke up, the beautiful knight whom she had saved on the battlefield came to visit.

As proof of Halka winning the bet, the knight forced her to enter into a master-servant contract with him……!?

I really love the story! I've got no words to describe it. I just simply love the story, the characters, EVERYTHING!

Thank you so much for translating this!

This is pretty fun. It's the realistic take for summon to another world. The conflict is pretty good. I really like the MC and ML.

This is such a beautiful and tragic story, the characters are so tangible and humane, I love the take the author took to the Summoned Hero trope in this. I believe Haruka/Halka is an incredibly well written and developed protagonist, I cried and laughed and felt her rage so deeply I will never forget her.

Alf is the most amazing support male character that I've ever read, I love Seraphina to pieces, and if I were to talk about Ricardo I could never stop.

This story is so worth reading, it envelopes... more>> and drags you into its world. <<less

Amidst all the transmigration stories out there, I've slowly felt a discontent whenever transmigrators could easily accept their current situation.

As what others have reviewed, this shines a different light, a more real approach when one is displaced. I greatly appreciate how this author told the tale from a realistic POV that made this story closer to home. This is such a solemn and beautiful masterpiece that I'm still reeling from the aftershocks. This is a story of self-growth and acceptance.

The FL is strong but she had to pay the price... more>> to become that strong. She was thrust into a position she didn't even consider. We see her journey in this story and how the ML supports her. They're both imperfect and how they come to make peace with it is so bittersweet. Many thanks to the Author and Translator for this wonderful piece. One of the shortest novels I've read but has pierced me deeper than those which require 100 chapters to get their thoughts across.

100% Gem! <<less

Strong heroine, starts off slow but gets better and better, great translations-- these are all of course points towards being a great novel, but what I loved the most about this novel is that it explicitly addresses the flaws of both male and female leads and deals with it. And in a way, that is the most realistic thing I've seen-- among all the other realistic portrayals in this novel (and there are many) -- that put this novel into five-star zone for me.

Spoiler

Case in point: the male lead starts off possessive, hero-worshiping the female lead in ways that are not actually healthy. Many novels have his type exactly and play it off as 'romantic' or 'swoon-worthy' or whatever it is that people who find possessive idolization attractive would call it. Similarly, female lead strives to uphold this unhealthy view of her and tries to maintain the relationship that way, which typical other shoujos might have called 'oh-so-very-hard-working' or whatever. Not this novel though!!! This novel goes nope, that ain't gonna work in the real world, that's not healthy and we all know it. Which, basically, I love. :D

[collapse]

Spoiler free tl;dr: if you want to see what is a commonly ignored unhealthy relationship be fixed for once, give yourself a break and read this. :D <<less

The novel starts out with great potential, but just never goes anywhere. The MC has awesome powers and secret identity, but most of the novel is just the characters talking about how they're going to do great things and change the world, but nothing really happens. Then at some point of characters doing absolutely nothing the author decides to finally end this misery.

The writing felt quite solemn. The ideas expressed were deeper than most transmigration/summoning novels.

Yet, I still couldn't bring myself to really like it. I didn't understand some of the characters' choices. They felt illogical and random to me. I feel like some things weren't explained clearly. The ML's past, quite tragic, was shoved in randomly to explain, but I didn't feel like it was explored enough.

I didn't really like the ending, but it's a good ending.

5 stars because of Suzunosuke's art! Just kidding.

I think it’s an okay story. It’s lovely but there are some parts I find illogical ex. The FL’s actions

Her need to save everyone is just... weird.

The ML is kinda cute so if you want a light-hearted story I guess it is okay

I think that the author and translator did a really good job at making me feel things LOL the way this describes the feelings is quite realistic and emotional

Spoiler

I just hate the fact that as soon as the ML realizes that FL is a girl, he immediately realizes that he’s in love with her and that she is so frail whatever. I mean do you need to say that she is frail right after you know she’s a girl. She is still a powerful magician.

I also don’t really get how the FL think she ‘saves’ the dragon when she kills it

Its a great story.

samspd deducted points for the pre-war arc because it could be expanded upon. I "somewhat agree". I feel like "ending" the war right after the prologue removed a lot of possibilities. At the same time this would turn it into a different genre (More of a war story like say... Altina?) so its "forgivable (?) "

As for me, my problem is the ending. First, it feels "rushed" and the romance feels "incomplete". To go into fine details would be spoilers so I will say that most stories... more>> go with Build up -> Crisis -> post crisis -> Epilogue

The post crisis part feels rushed and leaves many questions unanswered.

The second part I don't like is probably more of a personal preference and has to do with the MC's name. The prologue itself tells you her name is "Haruka". But she changed it to "Halka" to disguise herself as a man. With this having the romance tag, it is obvious she gets together with someone in the end. Yet her name in the end remains as "Halka". <<less

The story was wrapped up well and ended in volume 2. I’ve read the translation of the Afterword of author in Volume 2 and she said it’s the final volume. I don’t know why another reviewer said there were three volumes and gave a very low rating. The translator did a very wonderful job in translating this novel. This is not a short story even though there are only 14 chapters. Why I said so because each chapter is so long. The author did a wonderful job to demonstrate each... more>> character’s thoughts and dilemma in details. It’s full of emotions and it’s like a roller coaster ride. The romance is a slow burn and the love rivalry is a healthy one so it makes you feel a bit heartache for the second ML. <<less

There are 3 volume, but I only read vol 1 bcz I can't compromise myself to read the next volumes.

Short story but meaningful...

I can't write any synopsis nor some compliment, but it's worth to read! I don't know how to edit my star, but I will give 4/5star

The idea was nice but the story doesn't have many event and I think it is long for nothing. Love the MC but her knight didn't give me any impact and I think the bodyguard is better and more worthy of her.
