One night, Yu Hao, a college student who was at his wits’ end had an unexpected encounter with a mysterious visitor – “General” – who had dream travelled. He led Yu Hao in solving the countless riddles that abounded in the realm of the conscious, and lit up the fire beacons on the meandering Great Wall.

Thereafter, the darkness retreated, the sun rose, and when the long night was thoroughly lit up, the him who existed in reality was reborn.

This type of fantasy is not my cup of tea but I don't even know how I pass 80 chapters. It's a good novel. It's satisfy to see how they overcome their fear, concern, dark memories through dreams. I feel like I have lean much by reading this. The author did a good job. I don't give 5stars cause I don't like ML. That's not mean he is a scum. He is not just my type. The reason is

Do you know I have to wait 81 chapters to see they become couple? If not, I really gonna drop this. ML is not so bad like others said. I know it will take a time to bent a steel. Moreover he didn't treat badly to MC even though he reject. He really pamper MC. And MC is not emotional person like other MC. He try to overcome his emotions. The fact I don't like is ML push MC to date other guys and what did he do in their date. I'm a little sad and furious about that. Except that, all is ok.

Beautiful is just the word to describe this novel.

When I first came across this novel, it didn't even catch my eye because the summary seemed complicated and boring so I just decided to put it in my 'want to read' list. However, after a while, when I had nothing that I want to particularly read, I decided to go for this one. I started it and the starting of the novel really intrigued me alot. The only regret was that I didn't start reading this novel earlier.

Hmmm the novel... more>> is a little deep as it contains angst and psychological issues that people face. But it does have its fluffy and cute moments. The MC and ML are actually like two halves to a whole? It was nice reading how both the MC and ML grow together, helping each other to overcome certain difficulties and realising their feelings for each other. Plus it's a well-paced and written story.

I personally feel that the time I took to slowly read the novel and imagine their scenes were very worthwhile. No time wasted at all. It's definitely worth reading so don't miss out. <<less

  1. I'll probably finish reading it tomorrow but I need to give a review now. The rating of 4.7 is really too low for this masterpiece, everything is written in a way that won't make the reader uncomfortable, the meaning behind every word and action is unconcealed, straight and always pierce us through the soul. The slice of life of this novel most of the time is done with a clear mind that makes you even more involved, more emotional, as the word were not only directed to the characters of book but also to yourself (this is quite obvious but it is not easy to reach, Autor-nim is amazing) and everyone that is reading, even when the situation it treats doean't match with your life experiences you can't help but feel a type of subtle connection with everything inside. The love is both pure and passionate, and you can't help ending up liking every one of the characters for either their strenght and weakness. It could be seen as a life-changing work, I absolutely raccomend it to anyone.

I absolutely love this!! I especially love the main couple!!

They are both awesome yet flawed humans and they have such great chemistry with each other! They are one of my top favourite BL couple (my top will always be the one from Card Room) !

Be warned, they don’t officially get together until around halfway into the novel, but had such chemistry with each other since the very beginning!

Some people may dislike how the ML seemed to be “avoiding” the obvious chemistry between him and MC, but as I said, both... more>> ML and MC are flawed people and you can understand why it took them a bit long to get into a relationship.

Fortunately, after the two get together they are like two sweet candy!

The two would tease/flirt with each other, deliver punches of honest, heartfelt love to each other and ML would even start call MC “wife” or “wifey” from the very start of their relationship!

Now, plot wise, the whole novel is well plotted out with seemingly insignificant event having significance later on in the story. The story also have a lot of realism in it. It’s not heavy, but feel realistic with both good and bad side to things.

Anyway, I truly would recommend this novel to anyone who like to read a good novel with a good plot and a good couple! 😌 <<less

The book is a journey! Fantasy, adventure, romance, sci-fi, so many genres woven together seamlessly. The translators did such an awesome job at keeping the flow of the novel even when the sentences got technical. All the plotlines are unique, the characters feel real and grow as the story progresses. The friendship and romance is worth the read.

Overall, a great read! Interesting concept, lovable characters. The platonic friendship between the roommates are also suoer sweet, not just the romance.

But I do have to say, 2/3 of the way in, I started getting very bored and confused. The storyline becomes almost too complex and you really don't get any romance or fluff. But if you're into sci-fi or conspiracy theories, the last third of the book is the most interesting I guess.

Must read! Great world and character building. Wonderful mix of fantasy and psychology.

The plot was taken forward with care and so much attention. The characters are etched out beautifully and getting to see through the characters psyche and inner world is such a fascinating concept.

I didn't expect what I got, but definitely loved it! Do give it a chance!

The story is great. A perfect mix of adventure, mystery, romance, action, slice of life. I love all the characters!

YH, ZS, FLQ, CS, CYK, OQH, HT are such a squad goals.

Many finds the ML drag ML's feeling for too long but it's understandable, he has his own reason and insecurities. But when the time comes, he went from 0 to 100 in romantics fields, lol (HE IS SO CORNY! Hahahhaaa)

will definitely reread!

This novel is the greatest fiction I ever read! To the point I can't even find holes here, and toppled down my favourite novel? At first MC's love journey exhaust my heart, but I find ML's concern is reasonable and humane, I forget about ML's dragging MC? Not suitable for light reading, because sometimes the topic/theme is too complicated for my simple mind, life philosophy, experience, and my own capacity...

I love the arcs, the characters and the climaxes. The wrap up of the plot was pretty well done too for this sort of fantasy plot. It's a real gem, seeing that it's totally translated (except the extras...).

Each arc was a real punch in the gut with the heart wrenching details. My favourite arc was actually Ou Zihang's arc because he's my favourite character. I really wanted to see more ... more>>

of his possible? relationship with Chen Zekai but alas it did not happen. He's just like a super smart puppy and I love that his mount is a gundam. His boss fight was especially sad for me too. Though Kaikai's arc was pretty sad too.

So many genres wrapped in a single novel- it's got action, science fiction, spiritualism, romance, slice of life, coming of age, exploration of self; the list goes on. There were many plot twists throughout to keep me engaged. The core of the story seems to be the idea of soulmates and the power of love transcending all things and I thought the love portrayed was very genuine. Even the strength of feeling in friendship is an important theme. The author has a tendency to go off on philosophical tangents; those... more>> parts were at times very insightful, at other times a bit much. And the bundling of so many different elements caused unevenness in the novel (almost as if different books were smashed together), but overall this novel made for a very fulfilling read. I'll be rereading and definitely recommend. <<less

This is such a gorgeous novel !! The romance is slow to come but the plot makes up for it ! Such beautifully interwoven plot. The romance is realistic too. I live how 3 dimensional the characters are. Gorgeous world building and plot. A+

I'm here because I'm hooked with the sinopsis, I thought it's pretty interesting since I wanna read some bl with fantasy elements. But it's actually have more psychological elements in it. And it's quite good tbh.

As for the romance... I think I should've read some comments before reading this, because I didn't know that it'll be slow romance 😭😭

I feel like I need to learn more english vocabularies, since it's not my first language, there's many parts that makes me confused (or maybe my imagination just a bit limited)

So anyway, I have finished reading it.

As I said in the beginning, I'm here for its action fantasy, but the author give you more instead. There's many psychological and philosophy elements in it. So it's not just about a dream, but also the reason and the meaning behind it, the impact it has towards one's real life.

This novel tell you about our MC, with his husband and his friends, in their adventures to looking for their true self, a reason to live, a reason to keep going forward; to building trust, relationship, confidence; to protect their loved ones and their beliefs; to let go of their past; and to defeat the corrupt people.

The way author write the side characters actually quite great, since sometimes they will be portrayed as a kind and lovable person, but another time they're so annoying and unpleasant, so I don't know if I should hate or love that characters... And it makes me think that that was how people actually is. No one is perfect. Sometimes someone who we think is really kind maybe is such an animal in other people's eyes. So that's why it's hard to judge people

My favourite things is the ending, it's soooo satisfying for me. The romance after they got together is so sweet, there's of course a little (or big?) dispute they have each other, but in the end it's all resolved.

I'm glad to have found this novel. <<less

its really interesting novel with so many elements and most o it is related to psychology and after reading it I realized that I like psychology very much hehe

now talk about zhou sheng, he really has 180 iq haha, and our cute cinnamon roll yu hao, he's sweet and wild I would say

other side characters are very interesting too

the plot is nice nice~ it lets about the fears in ones heart and how the characters overcame it

its 100% recommended!!

I found this in recommendations, right after I finished reading SAYE (which is must read, by the way), but I really never expected to like this story as much as I did.

This is not a gold nugget, it's a freaking diamond mine! I love this story so much! There is just the right amount of action, romance, friendship, psychology and fantasy along with the beautiful writing! It's a 10/10 in all aspects, really. Just when you think the most interesting story arc had already passed, the author throws another diamond... more>> at you and you can't help but feel satisfied. <<less
