Hi guys! I wanted to take the opportunity to write a review on the new novel that QI just picked up. As far as reviews go, this one will be really short. There's only one thing to say and that is; the translator is baaad. You can guess how baaad by how many extra a's there are. It's really disappointing because from what I can barely make out, the story seems kinda good. Really sad though, a good novel can be ruined because of a bad translator. If the author... more>> or anyone from the publishing company reads this, this story is in bad need of a new translator if this is the quality they're pushing out at just the first chapter. <<less

I gave it a 3* even though I think it deserves a 2 or less, solely because of the fun ride it gave me before I quit.

What to talk about the novel... everyone including the MC is a shitty person, the gods, the warlords, the nobles and even the mercenaries. Cruel beyond the point of cartoony and self-absorbed to the very end.

While the novel tries to sell the point of "no man is truly evil, he has good in him" and "a hero of one side is the devil to... more>> another", it fails rather hard with some examples like the lead female elf lead being a war torn elf "with no choice but to mu*der", a dragon knight who is tortured for decades for "trying to right the world and have his revenge" by mu*dering a ton of elves and vampires (because his wives and childrens died by their hands) and a gate guardian who r*pes and pillages other countries' citizens but is seen as a hero for defending his own. Long story short, the author tries to make these people seem sympathetic and all I can do is blow a raspberry at his weak notion.

MC, whose name is often switch between his supposed current english name Raphael (pretentious) and chinese name Han Jing, is a cultivator and can perform divine (Tao) arts of making talismans and artifacts while cultivating his own body. FYI, he is OP af just with two "basic" talismans so the tension of the fight is often how much he can accidentally get his teammates killed (two by the way).

And yes, so far he has two girls on his laps, one being the elf while the other is a magician girl.

Oh, and he does learn how to use the magic and aura system of the world and his conclusion? Furiously masturbating (bragging) on his cultivation techniques ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS TILL C300++ NO LESS!. He does learn how to better use his divine consciousness though.

What I find fun is how the author often puts RL politics into his work and one time shot his own foot for calling out to China (oops!). <<less

An Ok novel, but the translation is very poor.

there's also one or two strange shifts and missing explanations where either the author was not too clear, or there's a chapter the translator failed to pick up for some reason...

But the story is quite good, though at first it seems to be going towards the typical brainless harem story where the MC gets a new girl each chapter, it's actually not the case.

He does save 2 girls early in the story, but it's more a pot device than a harem excuse,... more>> at least up to chapter 121 (which is where I'm at)

still, bad translation and what seems to be either missing chapters or content that is not explained well make it difficult to appreciate, so only 3 stars from me. <<less

    Interesting premise, bleh for execution.

As of Chapter 39 it looks like it's going to turn into yet another waste of time Harem novel. (The tag isn't there as of the time of this review).
I can deal with the translation, but the novel seems to go nowhere

    Spoiler

Basically, if you want a novel about a guy who starts with knowledge of all sorts of cultivation skills/spells from another world.... and his primary cultivation method is to be a glutton... eating eating eating.... oh.... but don't forget saving 2 damsels in distress within the first couple of dozen chapters....
