I’m a villainess… it seems!? No, no, I’m not such a bad woman-!!

Liz Beltran is an arrogant, selfish young woman, and a villainous one at that.

When Liz arrives for her formal marriage meeting with the first prince, Alan, she is shocked to hear his younger brother’s voice speaking to him.

What do you mean, “villainess”? I’m not such a lousy woman!

She is shocked and teary-eyed, but her marriage partner, Alan, tells her: “I’ll be your fiancé and help you out so you don’t end up becoming a villainess.”.

She struggles to understand incomprehensible words such as “target” and “game world”, but, at the same time, she is thrilled by the too-sweet guidance of the beautiful Prince Alan as she strives to get back at the prince’s brother!

With the help of the prince who is “apparently” about to break off their engagement, Liz strives to become a perfect lady in this unique romantic comedy about a villainous lady!

The first chapters are basically just setting up the premise. However, it really makes you sympathize with the 'villainess' main character. Nobody ever told her about her bad personality or about how her surroundings were suffering from it. So when she gets a wake-up call she is pretty much horrified. Of course she would be!

The whole sympathy for the villainess thing is just so cute. She wasn't really trying to be mean, she was just misunderstood. Cue the fluffy life lessons.

Bonus for the high translation quality. Let's hope for more... more>> chapters! <<less

I find this story tedious. I only read around 5 chapters, but! I'm annoyed by the fact that the Prince thinks that the MC is the villainess from the start and without even getting to know her wants her to 'change herself'. Based on what? They met for the first time and are virtually strangers.

Why should he change the girl he doesn't know just so she could suit himself, he's even pushing her when the MC says she doesn't need his help because she wants to think about it herself... more>> first. And he doesn't even apologize about him and his brother talking about the person behind their back!

Lastly, the MC doesn't even seem like a villainess - just a typical Japanese girl with lots of inner monologue and considerations, which is tiring imho. <<less

I know that I've only read 11 chapters and I personally wouldn't trust a person's review if they have only read so little of the story... But, I seriously can't stand the first prince Alan!

Spoiler

I like the fact that Liz is a understanding person and has a open mind, enough that she is willing to change her daily life, but I feel like it goes too far. Prince Alan wants to change everything about Liz. He says that he didn't want Liz to be a villainess, but is it necessary to change everything about her? He also threatens/scares her to be different from the Liz in the game, such as not having "goudy" appearance (although he said it looked fine on her just the day before). He admits it himself he fell in love with her appearance which matches his preferences perfectly. So far, there hasn't been anyone to properly comfort Liz that what she did before was not bad. They give her the impression that she was "the worst" all the time. Though, she wasn't perfect, I don't think she was bad either and certainly not "the worst." The princes push their ideals/beliefs onto her while Liz has to accept it because she was afraid to be hated and people to disgust her.

[collapse]

Perhaps Alan will change, but I'm already too sick of him to care. <<less

I'm think this is about 2-2.5/5 rating overall but I don't know how to change the star thing so sorry. T^T Initially this story was really interesting and I had high hopes. The plot is unique and the translator did a great job translating it. Unfortunately, there were some issues I had with this story that made it unbearable to continue. These are just my opinion so someone else might think something else. This story might also have become really tedious to me because I ended up binging it until... more>> I couldn't so if you're going to read this I recommend taking breaking after reading every couple chapters.

I really like the MC herself and her character growth is great. I also really like her servant. I really hated the princes though. The second prince is less of a character and more of a walking plot device with a broken repeat button. In short he's delusional to the point of annoyance. I think I would have less of s problem with his character if people he wasn't a prince and people didn't respect him. The ML prince is really annoying. The only thing I can remember him saying in those 55 chapters is something along the lines of "cute wife." Idk he feels really hypocritical and meddles too much in her affairs. I much would have preferred her self improvement not to be so dependent on him. There relationship feels less like lovers and more like a s*ave with her kind master or a dog and her owner. Him being there makes her improvement feel less for the greater good and more like an owner teaching their dog a trick. <<less

You see a lot of these otome games and reincarnated or transmigrated villianiness who never actually becomes the villian. She becomes a perfect lady, etc. Sometimes you even have a heroine who also knows about the game. There are some good ones out there but this has a twist and I’m already hooked

So far it’s the main character overhearing a conversation which makes her realize that her behaviour is rude. It’s not completely her fault it seems her parents and her brother indulged her. But basically she’s suppose to meet... more>> with her fiancé and finds out that she’s being referred to as a villianiness and has a bit of a breakdown.

Spoiler

The person reincarnated or transmigrated is actually Prince William who is a capture target and ships his brother with the heroine. He tells his brother that he has to get engaged to the villianiness in order to meet his true love. His brother thinks he’s slightly crazy though.

This is a tedious read. MC is deemed as villain, but in fact she just never receive the right education from her family. Her 1st brother also disdain her blindly, but never even bother to help educating her on better behavior (even when MC herself is trying to be better and mend her relationship with 1st brother).

Like, you want her to be better, but how is she gonna do it without guidance?! Feels like the adults around MC don't care enough for her to guide her.

A twist to your usual otome reincarnation stories, rather than following someone who was an outsider, we follow the original villainess who overheard her fate and despairs at what she has become and sets out to change. The translation is very well done and is overall quite enjoyable.

The story has me divided: on one hand I love how it’s a change to your usual plot line and that the character we follow is an original “in game” character who doesn’t get a “injury/sickness/accident/whatever” to explain away her sudden character change... more>> and must work to undo her damage and mend her faults. It’s refreshing to see Lily attempt to change her character, and work towards a happy ending with her fiancé.

On the other hand, sometimes Lily reads as a 7 or 10 year old rather than a 15/16 year old while her fiancé, Al, feels older. It could be the byproduct of Al being her mentor, but Lily’s demeanor is more innocent. It’s fiting as you can see why she went wrong do to her surroundings, but it’s a tad too innocent. Sometimes I forget the age of Lily while reading and get shocked at her age again. Since Lily is also a product of her surroundings, it is a little frustrating to see her work to change and yet no one who contributed to her faults (cold older brothers, indulgent parents) take any sort of blame.

It’s not a bad story, it has an interesting premise and if you’re in the mood for something a bit fluffy, this would be a good story to read. <<less

I’m loving this more and more. I’m just conflicted because she is denying her very own self, and it’s actually hard to change oneself and be the opposite. It’s just that her character was perceived by others as bad and she wasn’t even aware of it. I love the uneasiness. ❤❤❤

The story is clearly targeted to very young audiences, but even so it was a little annoying. It started off poorly, but after a while it got somewhat better.

There are some things I appreciate about this, such as how the POVs actually feel quite true to character. Like when the characters that are flawed have a realization towards becoming a better person, it's not all at once, but rather it just becomes less flawed.

It's got so many chapters, but character development is almost nonexistent for everyone besides the MC and... more>> Yugo, who are basically forcefully developed. Even with the MC, honestly it feels kinda forced, but I appreciate the author trying to minimize that (see my note about POV).

My main problem is that I hate all the interactions of the MC and the ML. Separately as characters they're fine, but when they're together the MC stammers every. Single. Time. It's honestly ridiculous. The ML puts on crazy offense and the MC just shrinks like a mouse. Not that the ML ever pushes too hard, but the MC's responses are just too irritating. Basically I skip almost all their dialogue because of this.

I really like Luke though, and I hope he ends up with Chloe.

Spoiler

Even though I think she might be pushed down the Victor route. I just want to see Victor turn into a siscon haha.

I really like the flow of the story. The villainess MC didn't just suddenly turned into a goody two-shoes the moment she realised that she was in the wrong. I love that the story shows how she progress from a villainous character into a person who is more aware of her surroundings

I'm dead with all fluffiness this novel had.

another refreshing novel over cliche troupe. This time the one who supposed to be the villainess enlightened by other's preach. Her realization over her mistakes and her resolution to be a better person feels natural. Her relationship with ML is also feels natural. I feel enlightened by reading how MC tried her best to be a better person.

about ML

Spoiler

At first, I thought of ML is doing too much for someone he barely know. But after reading his POV, I think he's intrigued by his brother remarks (aside fell in love with her appearance at the 1st sight).

about the bro

Spoiler

he's annoying, but he claimed as an otaku so... yeah, kinda reasonable. It's said aside anything related to the game, he's normal. So, there's still hope for him to change.

A very interesting premise of an otoge-reincarnation focusing on the butterfly effect and not told from the perspective of the reincarnator.

While the first arc was pleasant too, out of all the various characters that were introduced, only the MC's and prince's story were getting anywhere.

Judging by the comments under the translation, I seem to be in the minority for enjoying the second arc more, but when the different characters from the otoge actually start interacting and going through the first events of the game's story in their own way is... more>> when these kinds of novels really start to kick off. There are so many hints for future developments both in terms of plot as well as characters that haven't happened yet, and I'm looking forward to reading how the characters have to struggle to resolve them eventually.

The first arc is mostly limited to introducing characters and the self-betterment of the MC, and it feels a little like more fluffy slice of life, but when the characters start encountering actual conflicts (rather than just the premise of being identified as a villainess) is when the story becomes a real pleasure to read.

Overall, there are a few minor issues I have like some hints for future developments being overly obvious, but if it wasn't for that slow first arc, I'd give it 5 stars. <<less

  1. The story isn't bad I like all the characters and Liz is really cute
  2. When I first read the reviews I didn't want to read them but now that I have read this far I am truly hooked. Liz is cute Al is a yandere like I wanted him to be, Chloe and Liz's dynamic is cool.
  3. Liz's development isn't too clouded it feels a bit genuine she doesn't lose the "self" inside but she starts accepting things and works hard to strive for better. Al doesn't feel too involved in the 1st part where she is learning, correcting, and educating herself.
  4. The story is really fluffy except that Will is pretty annoying. And he usually moves the plot forward
  5. Don't let the reviews stop you try the first 10 chapters if you don't like it it's up to you. But Personally, I really enjoyed the novel, and the illustrations are cute. So I would recommend everyone to give it a read. So that's all

I've tried to read this but the ML and his brother are honestly grating on my nerves.

Spoiler

I hate how the brother judges the FL without knowing her personally just because he saw her in an otome game. She's a human. A real life human with a personality and free-will. To treat her like a character is just plain s*upidity.

[collapse]

I might come back to try reading again but currently, I don't really like this novel.

Humm...

I really want to say that I loved this novel... the progression is awesome, the set up and pay off of the things happening is great, the whole thing is very well written.

But I have a hard time embracing the way "some" things are explained because they are... Japanese common sense.

... more>> I don't get what's so great about being "humble" or acting as if the social status in a MONARCHY doesn't exist.

I get the whole intention of the novel, but I am conflicted because it just doesn't work "within" the setting...

So the author uses this novel to teach "Japanese social standards", which I actually like a lot and agree with most of them.

But not in a FANTASY MONARCHY setting...

It breaks me out of the setting more than someone thinking "this is a game"... the author makes an emphasis that even "if" this world "was" a game before, now it's a REAL world with REAL people... and still forces the "JAPANESE" moral standards on the setting???

You can't have your cake and eat it too...

So the contradiction baffles me and gives me a headache.

BUT the characters are awesome, the portrayals are very well done, the progression and character growth is great!.

The plot devices have interesting twists here and there, and I really enjoyed all this things.

I found it refreshing that if anything, there aren't misunderstandings because everyone communicates properly.

If only the author didn't want to force the societal and moral standards of Japan onto the setting I wouldn't be so miffed...

Give it a go! it's pure fluff. <<less
