I really liked this one. But the sad thing is, apart from the gender equality themes (which are very welcome in a chinese novel), the rest of the novel relies on you having read a lot of... (let's say less than good) cultivation novels.

I just want everyone to be aware, that there is a reason why this novel is so highly-rated. It goes against convention, which is something humans adore, especially in novels that go against their highly-written stereotype.

Ascending, Do Not Disturb is a Xuanhuan/Xianxia novel, and when it came up on my recommended, I kid you not, I winced. I know better nowadays then to flock the cultivation crowd, as the repeated face-slapping and dog-blooded angst will often make me cough up blood, but this novel. ok, so I like it a lot. Well, more than a lot.

but why should you read this? I'll tell you why. It lightens the burden on the soul. I cracked up so many times during this novel to the point I: a, couldn't breathe or, b, started muttering like a psychopath about how people cannot just 'steal' other people, etc. Often, when I (mistakenly and naively) give books five stars, the future updates will make me wish that there was a medicine for regret.

even in the book's light-heartedness, it held weight, not the kind that you would hold with aching arms and wonder when you would figure it out, but the kind that held comfort, like a cat on your lap, or someone laying their head upon your shoulder, the sort of weight you just knew. That being said, if you truly cannot stand novels made for the sake of enjoyment and fulfillment, then, by all means, leave. It'll haunt you.

a story that was enjoyable every single second, and one that left me happy and content. Not something I can say for a lot of novels.

The most freaking light-hearted and laid-back cultivation novel I've ever come across. No backstabbing schemes. No jealous characters. No misunderstandings (major, non-comedic ones). No angst. Even the final boss barely qualified as a final boss.

You'd think with the plot would be lacking without any of these, but to my pleasant surprise, it worked totally fine. Actually, it was more than just fine. It was fantastic. Loved the cute interactions between all the characters. It was hilarious and touching at the same time.

The FL and ML are sweet. This is the first cultivation story which adheres to true "righteousness". Unlike other cultivation novels, people don't go around killing people. All characters are well written. Its a very heart-warming story. Some of the side-characters have their tragic pasts. I cried for the Moon sect master. Salted fish uncle and the secret realm consciousness are adorable.

Love this Story much. It's a very down to earth story. The MC is a genius and even she quite powerful at the end the process but her growth is very down to earth. She is naive and innocent but she not foolish. The whole book is quite light hearted. Very surprising for cultivation story, Everybody is so loving and funny. The good is good and the bad is bad. Looking back, I am really going to miss this series. It is one of, if not, the best cultivation novels I ever read. It details the humanity, empathy and willingness to help others that one must have in order to keep to the path. The fluffiest cultivation story there is. Our darling MC is so blessed with luck, that she snags the most popular ice block and melts the ice to turn him human! Seriously though, I felt the need to say something because I started reading yesterday and could not put my tablet down. Please believe that the characters are all cool and endearing in their own ways. This is such a gem of a novel and I would like to thank DreamsOfJianghu translations for a job well done!

SO CUTE

This novel revolves around character develeopment and love. So no dog-blood love drama. I can't remember how much I laughed at loud by the MC silly/cute character and GOOD LUCK I swear she has a koi fish body (good luck follows you) She is favored by the heavens basically and its so hilarious to see how her silly actions actually contribute a great cause. My favorite characters got to be Salted Fish Uncle and Lin Hu. They made me laugh tons!

It's at their own disclosure to think and feel whatever they like. HOWEVER: personally, I believe his true identity doesn't matter. The MC is personally discovering sides to the ML and is experiencing all the small moments that makes her feel trust, reverence, care and all these great emotions. She can act like her true self and care for the MC without all the titles behind his back. She looks at him with a blank piece of paper and slowly fills it up. If she knew his identity from the beginning, her piece of paper would already be half filled. I love the fact she is discovering the ML on her own instead of already having others fill her on his pasts and great deeds. It makes the romance all the more exciting. She is building her own emotion and not the ones that were given to her through the pages of an informative book. I truly think they are helping the spiritual world ascend and grow in their own way. Even though the MC is doing it by being the hope of ascension. I think the ML is doing it by having the love of the MC and so the spiritual groups combine and help them survive for their love. Essentially as they are making me believe in love, they are also making the spiritual world believe in it again too and perhaps that's what the world needs to ascend. Which would be just mm! You could say that the concept is quite normal but execution is quite uncommon.

We do have typical beautiful and widely talented female main character and of course we have unthinkably handsome and insanely strong male MC. Yes the way of cultivation is quite the same and so the monsters etc... but that's where the similarities end.

The story is not about constant scheming and jealousy with harem of girls pursuing male MC and another harem trying to get female MC, we have really no hate and scary competition between sects. People have better things to do.

I'm so happy there is really no hypocrisy of orthodox cultivators here, they really try to be pure of mind and mindful of other people, they don't pretend to be "the good ones" they really are. This is like a breath of fresh air after so many shameful and full of hate / jealousy novels.
Plus this novel is well written !! It's so easy for my eyes and brain to digest... Really satisfying!
