Description
Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs. As a virtuous wife, does it include tolerating his cousin, enduring his concubines, bearing his mother?
If you will not let me live freely, why would I let you live in satisfaction?
Did fate let women time-travel so they could learn the three morals and four virtues?
Rather than act like a coward and live, it would be better to live in satisfaction and die.

I initially stopped reading at the first chapter because of the excessive footnotes and untranslated terms. It felt like I was studying Chinese and was a put off. However, despite being a bit lost (and having to keep a tab open with the glossary so I could understand what I was reading), I pushed on and I'm glad I did. The translator eventually dispenses with the multitude of footnotes. There were minimal typos (thanks to the editors) and the essence of the story and dialogue was well preserved imo which is especially important in a story like this where what is said and how it is said makes the difference between having 9 generations of your family exterminated or just having the commoners gossip about you for a week. So outside of the untranslated terms which represented a difficult wall to climb at first, the translation quality is really great.
This is a slice of life. Don't expect lots of action, no outrageous face slapping. It is well paced and is able to keep your interest with the plots of the Imperial harem and the rest of the nobility. There is no heavy emphasis on the transmigration and is just there to give a contrast with life for a modern woman vs life in this historical setting. No pets, cultivation, pills, OP system or space. There is no dramatic love at first sight and to me the romance while slow is quite well written.
For a story like this, it is completely dependent on its characters. The female lead was well written. Her views were pretty realistic. Stay true to yourself, live well and everything else will eventually follow. What learn the four virtues and three morals? As long as she could be satisfied with herself, she'd be happy. She's not super smart, not supremely talented, not the most beautiful in all the lands.
The side characters were also well written. No 2D evil antagonists (except maybe her stepmother) here. I enjoyed seeing the side characters grow and develop in their own right. Some of the antagonists even managed to evoke some sympathy. While some characters were just there to serve as foils to our leads to show how much better they are, other characters were well developed in their own right. They all have their own circumstances, goals and motivations.
