I'm really enjoying this one so far. I get a little tired of "I reincarnated as the strongest [ noun or fantasy job title], but I decided to live leisurely by [inane hobby] instead." It's not that those stories are bad, but every once in a while I wonder if there's a support group for stressed out gods who have nervous breakdowns after screaming "I gave you a second chance, why can't you do your damn job!" for the six billionth time.

This reincarnation is getting his sh*t done. He's a... more>> schemer, he's malevolent, and he's the new demon king, all without losing the polite smile you've come to expect from exdead expatriates of the Japanese persuasion.

Too many expositions, too little story.

Be prepared for several paragraphs of random explanations between a single line of dialogue and full chapters of explanations of random things that don't really add to the story.

The pace is weird, being really fast and choppy at some points like the initial development of the dark continent, and really slow in others where the MC takes several chapters walking down a street buying things or having a simple conversation that means little to the plot.

His powers aren't really explained. He's a SSS ranked and... more>> kick ass at magic, but can also create fully intelligent races in a few minutes like a god? It's kind of weird and we don't know what are the limits of his strength. So far there's also no challenge and he and his maids just kill everything because 'they're strong' and that's it.

The premise was nice, but the execution and writing was really poor. <<less

I absolutely can't recommend novels like these, why is that? The answer is rather simple, the chapters are so incredibly short that there's literally no space for a conclusive story built-up or character development due to the lack of depth. What's even worse, each chapter jumps from one scene to another entirely, skipping tons of stuff happening between them. And well, the characters are totally flat, they're simply "there", but don't feel alive. How can you even rate a novel like this with 5 stars? Go read a picture book.... more>> ≪.<

chapter length = definite indicator for writing skill <<less

The beginning is interesting. The MC is portrayed as a composed person that can turn things around even when he find himself in an awful condition.

Spoiler

He built a kingdom from a ruble, unite a whole continent and prove himself to be a competent leader.

[collapse]

But it went down fast when...

Spoiler

he went to the other continent where human resides to collect information. He act as an adventurer and became just another generic MC that's easily pushed around by others.

This novel is not bad, but I would not even classify it as a novel. The chapters released so far seem to summarize rather than describe what is happening in the story. This novel is surprisingly "convenient" even for normal Japanese web novels, things are way too easy. The characters are uninteresting and perfectly fall into the mc's plans no matter how s*upid his plans are.

This is some poor man's version of Dungeon's Defense without any scheming, descriptions, reactions, or realism. One day he announces he is the demon king... more>> then the next people are already lining up to be his subordinates even though he can barely afford potatoes.

Honestly I have no idea why the translator is translating this novel, its just bad. <<less

The start is interesting, but somehow it devolve into a merry-go-round of whatever the other people (who have absolutely nothing to do with mc) are doing.

It got bored and an entire volume focusing on side-character is not a good reading material, especially considering its not even the side story after an epilogue. Not to mention all those forced coupling... Somehow I get this feeling that the author seriously have a delusion on how people actually fall in love.

Is this really a Light novel? Not web novel? I thought Light novels are polished versions of web novel. Why nobody question the author when it is being serialized that it is a bad idea to neglect the original plot and neglect the newly built country? I mean, who is sane enough to build your own country then after creating a city then neglect them for no F****ng reason. It's like getting away from his responsibility. Not to mention that the author skipped on how the MC rebuild his ruined... more>> castle and how he acquired his new minions. At first volume, it looks like the story is for seinen audience. It is very interesting indeed. By building his forces from scratch and establishing a nation. Now that he left the continent (escaping from his duty as a king). Why was his decisions are getting bad? He doesn't really uses his wit/intellect unlike when he was at the demon continent? Where did his intelligence go? I know the author has plans for the MC. But it is not really believable at this point and it makes it looks like a ret*rded plot is being cooked by the author. The story lost consistency and the characters aren't interesting anymore. So why should I keep reading when the characteristic that I took interest are now gone? So goodbye and I will score this 1 star. If the author is being a jerk, then I will be a jerk too and rate this 1 star. <<less

Barely nice at first. MC started off as a cool summoned/transmigrated demon king. He used to be a scheming bastard who united the continent and built a country for his subjects. It's quite amazing at first because he started from zero. Slight downside is the lack of details on how he built the kingdom but he did a nice job with his scheming to unite the demons of his continent... UNFORTUNATELY, when he traveled to the other continent to see how humans are doing there, his brain got left behind... more>> and he turned into a useless pushover of a demon king while mingling with humans. Sad. <<less

It's a good series, but it's probably better to binge read it rather than to doing it chapter by chapter.

It often switches over to exposition and slice of life filler, but the plot is definitely there, and the storyline continues to progress. Still, there are several points where I scrolled through half a chapter of ignorable paragraphs. Volume 6, despite having the most slice of life filler, has actually been one of my favorites so far, and is certainly the funniest.

The magic system is generically RPG-like and needlessly overcomplicated, but... more>> the rest of the worldbuilding is solid enough to maintain the suspension of disbelief. Things actually happen in the background. Sometimes they become plot relevant and sometimes they don't, but all of it helps to make the world feel more alive.

Not many characters get any real development, but they do at least get detail. The chapters often change the point of view, and give you a good insight into how everyone thinks and why they are the way they are. I really like that the characters aren't a bunch of dense braindead idiots. The author does a great job of showing that the characters are self aware, and actually thinking about their choices.

Like I said, this isn't a series where I'll be reading each update as soon as it comes out, but I definitely plan on finishing it to the end. <<less

Gave it five stars to keep the rating high so more people will be inclined to read. The short chapters take away from the novel, but overall it's the best interpretation of whole "summoned Demon King shtick" outside of Dungeon Defense.

In beginning I thought it would be great but it become shit.

I definitely don't recommend this novel. There are so many plot hole and characters are like non development characters.

And himself demon king when he transmitted or created he was SSS Lv246 or so I don't remember and the author didn't even care to how he got that top and if u ask my opinion he is weak as f*ck and act like side character.

... more>> So overall this novel is boring as hell

There are even to complain but I don't want to waste more time over writing this shit. <<less

The premise is interesting at the start, but the pacing is just terrible at the later volumes. (3-4) There's one chapter of just a character lamenting about paperwork -.- It would have been better if the author focused on the MC and the main plot instead of diverging into unnecessary characters and plotlines that is not really relevant and entertaining

i like this one, at first I just want to read based on OP MC. But when I read it, I found this one interesting. There is so many mysteries in the story. And I found it amazing, because it's different from typical "another world" story.

Undoubtedly my favorite novel. Main character is powerful yet unlike normal tr*sh protagonists, he has a brain not pure brute strength. He actually has plans to follow. He doesn't gets pushed around like most JP leads. The main character will struggle though not to the extent where he needs plot armor to bail him. This helps create a good balance between being tension and rationality (you all know that many characters do s*upid stuff which could've been avoided so that author can add action).

I have finished reading volume 1 and I took a few steps in 2. My opinion is... that if this is supposed to be action then it is a disaster. If it is supposed to be a "slice of life" I could let it pass. This lacks life, emotion, everything. And to the rhythm of the translations, if something really interesting could happen, I do not know when it will be...

This novel feels too vague, too loose. And the things that could be interesting end without being after a few... more>> lines.

Of course this can still be read, as long as you do not expect anything.

Sorry for my English.

_______________________________________________________

pdt:the protagonist is... well, I do not know how to define it. He is the typical antagonist who wants to give love to the world. Ok, no, but it's like a child sincerely, or a teenager, when you're supposed to be an adult before. Is it that when a reincarnation loses emotional intelligence? When did I miss that explanation? Ah, no, it turns out that the demon god created him from that human soul, therefore, he was never human, but he ends up confused by feelings that are only a defect, poor... it gives me a bit of pity (?

Well, mystery solved.

I drop it here.

pdt2: It is not that this has a dramatic scene, it is that the protonist is contradictory, it seems that he knows he is the demon lord but he does not UNDERSTAND, that he is the demon lord. He clings to a humanity he never had. <<less

As others said (for the commentators who has finished reading it at least), really big potential, but the author rushed the story midway.

The first 3-4 volumes were crazy good to read, not that the story was incredible or anything but the pace of question and answers was really well done to keep the readers interested and making the read pleasant. But then the pace gets weird once the author starts putting more characters and expands the cope of the world building. It feels like the author didn't prepare the plot... more>> for volume 4-8. Then last 2 volumes were just a rush to ends it.

Still, props to the author for not just axing it entirely and bring a somehow ok end. The issue is one characters introduced and not used. It's a bit like a game in which you get around 60-65% completion and you're already at the final scene x'D

Around the start of last volume, I was rethinking "wait, there's... 20 chapters left, there's that, that, and that to conclude, there's that and that which hasn't been expanded yet.. no way it's possible to finish everything."

I do recommend the read but I felt sad at the end with how much you feel that the potential was wasted : ( <<less

This was so confusing I couldn't believe I was reading the same book. Could this novel get any more pointless? I have seen padding and filler words in novels but at least they try and make their slice of life content enjoyable. The pacing is so awful that you can literally skip chapters and not miss anything I assure you. The author will go about describing the characters in various daily activities in such a bland way even a godamn dictionary would be more interesting to read. I thought only... more>> xianxia could make me lose brain cells at this rate but boy was I wrong. Others describe him as cunning and I am like if this is cunning then Dantalian would be the god of cunning. Sigh rant over.

The dialogue can not be more vague and tedious maybe because he wanted to fill a word count. You could cut the whole novel down to 3 vols if you focused on the necessary plot. The characters felt robotic and did not adhere to their backstory. In a chaotic place like the demon continent the author described the demons there are more like japanese people with their weird sense of politeness and speech. It reads like a kid's first attempt at creating a world. I don't know how this got almost 4stars. Standards for god sake. <<less

not really sure what I should think of this...

would be nice if you get a bit more than 1/10 of the story with the Main charakter

you get so much unneedet story from side characters... the boy who fell in love with nino (Demon king maid 2) got more screen time than the demon king in volume 4

the main character feels more like a support character...a bit talking with the subordinates then massive blog with story about subordinates or enemy or other random characters and then 10 chapters later he appears... more>> again to do a little bit of work this work will then be described in 3 different perspectives, then the volume ends.

edit: -1 star it's hell of annoying that it's said transfermagic is only usable when you know the location, but the enemy's transfer whereever they want in, if you etablish the rules of magic then please apply them to everyonein the last 2 books every enemy could just teleport wherever they want on a continent they don't even know.

It's not the least bit unnatural that you don't know a continent and just teleport to a special secret room, without incident like transfer in a wall and die

i will read a few more chapters if they still don't show some real progress then I'm out... It's sad but so much potential wastet because of dump characters <<less

The higher the expectation, the higher the disappointment

I expect much from it if you read the first two-volume. You will see how much mystery this novel gives. A promising MC with so much to develop and heroine candidate that not clingy and annoy MC every time they appear. Kingdom building tags that I am looking forward to. But, it seems the author is your ordinary Japanese author that does everything boringly.

I won't give major spoilers in this review. After reading so many JP, CN, and KR novels out there. I... more>> can proudly say the best MC so far is from CN novel world. If you never read one, you should, it won't disappoint you. This novel, just like what JP novel lack, that is its MC decisiveness. JP MC tends to fool around here and there before getting to the main problem. And when he comes to realize it, it's already too late. JP MC won't lay a finger to a woman, cause they're a vegetable. JP MC is a fool, they need to depend on their subordinate to lives.

Ahh... I won't say that every JP novel is like that. But, most of it is. Generally speaking.

Cunning protagonist? I won't say it, maybe if it is a smart protagonist I can accept it. Sometimes he does use his head. Army building? It's not him, it's his subordinate. Kingdom Building? After he divides the nation he's not doing anything at all. Overpowered protagonist? I doubt it.

At the end of the day, I won't recommend this novel for a veteran. For those who like to see kingdom-building novel? Get outta here, it's not your cup of tea. For harem seeker? Dunno, I only read up to v5. And the romance is not there. Not even a romantic subplot. Hah...

There's so much to retort. But I'll leave it on the other time, Ciao

But seriously, don't read it haha <<less

Refreshing. I think this word describes this novel best.

This novel is about a guy who becomes the demon king. Thing is, this is not exactly an isekai, as the MC has very few memories from his past life. This is not a novel about a Japanese guy from cooks all the time, and conquers the world by using his knowledge of the modern world. Nor this is a novel about a hero who wants to save everyone. This is a novel about a simple guy who wants to unite the... more>> dark continent (where all the "demons" live), and make it a great place for everyone to live, while also protecting it from the humans who "by default" believe that demons are evil.

The protagonist is pretty OP (too OP in fact), but this novel is not about him being OP. If you are expecting epic battles etc, this novel is not for you. You will be seeing a lot of politics, information gathering, etc., but honestly, all of it is very interesting. I never got bored even once throughout all the volumes, because of the fast pace of the novel. The author concentrates on things that matter, instead of describing every little detail.

All of the characters are interesting, and you get a very clear understanding of their personalities and goals. None of them are purely "black" or "white".

To end with, this will subvert a lot of your expectations. Like, you can never predict what will happen.

Anyways, if you having nothing else to read, surely go for it. I gave this novel 5 stars because I believe that the current rating slightly misrepresents it. I would probably rate it 7.2/10. <<less
