Firstly, I would like to point out that there are 50 likes on a (crude, extremely pessimistic, and shallow) review where the reviewer only read up till chapter 3 in a novel with more than 330 chapters.

Secondly, why are so many reviewers rating this so low and dissing strategies used by MC? Saying that MC is being over-elaborate is extremely idiotic of you. The MC uses strategies to counter his opponents, while at the same time minimising loss of life and damages to the Adler Empire, even though he puts... more>> his own life at risk. I've seen novels with worse plots, and cheesy romance involved, get more than 4 stars in their ratings, I can tell that whoever wrote those reviews calling this a stereotypical novel with cheesy romance, harems, chuunibyou MC, and an overpowered protagonist halo skimmed through the novel. Yes, I see you who wrote that this had HAREM AND ROMANCE. You shallow people who cannot tell the difference between tr*sh and a book worthy of a five star review, kindly get incompetent arses out of here as you are impeding a good book from rising up in the rankings.

To the person that though it would be smart to diss a book after reading only three chapters, you skull is likely far too thick for your brain to be able to think, my apologies for your involvement in this review as you didn't understand just what you were messing around with. I do hope that when humanity manages to create a skull replacement surgery, you will be able to think your next review through. That review was very crudely done, and only gave a pessimistic insight into the book.

Finally, I shall speak about this amazing novel that most readers are prone to judging and abandoning after skimming through the first fifty chapters. The MC is quite mysterious and "shounen" in the beginning, but his motivation as to why he became and adventurer in the first place are slowly revealed. Familial relationships play a big part in this, as well as political strategies, and alliances. Some parts require inferring but unless your brain is non-existent in this realm, you should be able to understand it. Some parts of this fantastic novel can get you to chuckle, even if it is in the middle of a war. The plot seems carefully planned (Similar to that fo TCF and ORV) and crafted is that the MC is someone who can be heavily disadvantaged at times. MC in general is someone with many hidden sides, cunning and sly, but extremely loyal and caring to his family and friends. He puts the Empire before his life, and is similar to Cale Henituse and Kim Dokja in this way (Again, TCF and ORV readers, this is an amazing one even though it's Japanese) but less extreme. Though there are traces of romance, you can skim through those parts and harem? What harem? The imperial family is kind of complicated but it's interesting to read the political parts. Sure, it gets boring at some points, but reading those parts makes it easier to digest later chapters, and the motives of characters. Characters shown in a bad light and designated villains are also shown in positive perspectives

. This makes the story feel all the more intimate. All in all, I highly recommend those that have read Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, as well as tr*sh of the Count's Family, and liked them, read this extremely underrated novel. The beginning might be a bit bumpy, but it's amazing overall. <<less

Definitely recommend this. The characters are well built and when introduced get at least some growth. This novel has the habit of when introducing characters and their stories, they build on them. Which is good, but that also means that whatever else is happening at that point is paused/or slowed down. And sometimes it can be boring to read those parts, but once it's done and over with the story continues. The pace is medium other than being slow sometimes, but the story flows smoothly. A few things I like... more>> from this is reading from the other characters perspectives! The interactions between the characters are also great. I especially enjoy reading the MC's and his brother's interactions. This novel has a lot of potential overall, give it a go! <<less

Okay, Super OP MC can't stand his ground and again is super mature for his age.

The plot is okayish up till now.

As for why I've rated 3, I don't like the mc's character. He's positive about everything, doesn't know how to protest and always finds a way to blame himself for the mess of the plan no matter caused by who. Wth? Is he not a prince?

He doesn't wanna compete for the position of the emperor but helping is brother to save his family, why? Aren't you super strong? You... more>> can save your family with your strength alone.

He also judges others if they're worthy of the position of the emperor whilst the one he's helping is also not worthy and can only become an emperor with his help.

What kind of hypocrisy is it? <<less

-Edit-
450 chapters and the MC didn't advance his relationship with either of his love interests. So it may be annoying for some
-Edit end-

The WN is tagged as harem (which made me not want to read it) but I wouldn't really consider it one. Yes, the MC is in love with 2 of the heroines but it's 0% forced. That's why even if I'm an advocate of "monogamous relationships" I support the "harem" in this one. The author did a good job portraying their relationship and its evolution. I... more>> love seeing a strong FL like Finne since normally they are always protected by the MC

I'm sad no one continued translating the WN... I was really enjoying it

I like the setting of the story and the MC. The story is really slow-paced, but they use time-skips correctly when needed. Every character has their role and it's not only focused on the MC.
I don't know if it's due to the translators (or the author) but I don't like how the way every character speaks is the same. Some that should speak in a more "aggressive" tone of voice aren't portrayed correctly, which makes the characters feel somewhat ¿bland?. It's not like the characters are bad, I do find some characters unique but the way they speak is lacking

When it comes to the romance (other than the MC) all of it feels really weak, it's really superficial. What I do like is that everyone ends up with someone and no character has an annoying clingy harem of cement bags.

I won't give it a perfect score, but I think it's worth reading it <<less

The problem with this novel is that it is so superficial. Most issues have already been addressed by the other reviewers. There's no real depth, the characters are flat, and the author pulls stuff out of thin air (most recently, it was suddenly revealed that the country had some sort of elite ceremonial aerial unit all along, just in time to solve the most recent crisis).

It feels like reading a summary of a script.

This could have been good if it weren't for the unnecessary "Political Drama" I love Politics as much as the next guy but this is heavily flawed as it always gives downside to the MC.

"OP" is only for convenience's sake and the Author always has to give a downside for everything = for more drama.

I can't help but think at times he's one selfish bastard forcing his brother into a position like that.
I get where the Author coming from, we see stories like this every day, I think it's... more>> really badass idea but the execution was awful and not very well thought. [But then the author tries to portray them as two badass brothers working together for the Throne, when it isn't really like that when MC doing all the important work.. Then for some strange reason, the Author tries to make us warm up to the Emperor whose no different from his Children who only care about their Empire and they don't really care about their Citizens.

The Romance makes no sense at all. Honestly, I hate the romance as I find them annoying.

In conclusion. The MC is f*cking useless. (Forgive my censored language) <<less

I can't comprehend the high rating of this novel. The premise is not that bad, but the MC is just... Whew. If there's top 10 worst novel protagonist then this MC will surely be in the top 3.

What so bad about him?

Firstly, he is a prince and also OP. as one of few wielder of Ancient Magic, he's a powerhouse in the empire. You might think it will be great start for being an MC, right?

... more>> Wrong

Being OP only make this novel more unbearable because the MC acting like veteran pushover, the lamest kind of pushover there is in existence. He let other walk over him, bully, disgrace, abuse, and talk sh*t about him despite his OP magic powah.

All of that for what?

Just because he don't want attention and the responsibility a prince should deserve. Talking about cringy cliche.

So in order to shrink his duty as royalty, he pretend to be a loser. He started to put on a crouching posture you often seen in a classroom loner who had zero friends and the target of bullying. Which sometimes known as the infamous bread shuttle.

Just like bread shuttle, no one respect and care about him. The other nobles his age physically abuse him but he didn't defend himself at all. Just take the beating and disgrace they pour onto him like a glorious op cuck.

Euww... This MC is disgusting. <<less

First few arcs are generic stuff and it stays that way in terms of plot conplexity (kinda shallow and predictable at the start, but very enjoyable much later), but it really hits its stride in its later chapters. Its worth slogging through the start as it gets better (like the fact that because he has to keep his OPness a secret and it can restrict his actions and he cant casually switch to OP mode either unless he’s 100% sure it wont be revealed and use it as an insta... more>> win too much). The harem tag may scare people away but that’s not the main focus of the story and romance is pretty much not focused on even up till Ch. 400. Even then, the heroines are not just brainless characters as they move with their own motivations.

However, if you dont like the plot armor-ish effect of MC generally winning things then dont read. I like to think of the novel as more of a character development one and how our MC and other characters go through the world. <<less

the novel is interesting, there are cliches but it works.

I honestly enjoy it and I would enjoy it more if I didn't have to mentally correct each line that was translated. Bit of a rant but the grammar is just bad, It readable but half of my brain-power is being used correcting it as I read just so its a better experience. I'm sure that the translator worked hard but they could have gotten an editor to fix or at least use the countless free grammar fixing websites, it doesn't... more>> take that much. I'm not a translator so what do I know?

anyway if you don't mind the sh*t grammar go ahead I recommend it as the characters are interesting <<less

Honestly, I could ignore how awful some characters are in terms of how 1-dimensional they are. I could ignore how much of a nonexistent mess the succession war. What I can't ignore is this bad side romance as I am a big fan of good romance. This is not good.
Spoiler

The guy is set up to have this tragic unrequited love but the feel of it all is just disgusting. It not only drags that entire arc but just is unpleasant to read about. I had high expectations for this new character but I guess her only purpose is to marry this guy with no presence that's just the biggest pushover.

[collapse]

The main character is op ofc, but if he has a fun personality it'd be okay, right? Well I guess the author forgot that so they made him talk with nothing interesting to say for the entirety of arc 3! I'm definitely not coming back to this anytime soon. There are series that handle side character romance much better and just better political drama.

I can't believe I haven't done a review of this novel yet. Where as one may tell, there will be bias in my statement here today, but I don't care. I haven't been this invested in a novel in a long while since apparently the authors of Haken no Kouki Altina decided to stop continuing the story of their novel.

Kudos to Graverobber for taking on this novel as a project. For doing these on a very consistent basis too.

I'm a sucker for those with a Hero/Double Life kind of thing.... more>> Ask me what my favorites in K-Drama is, and you know some of my top picks are the likes of The City Hunter, The Healer, and Iljimae. So when I see that the protagonist is the type that lives a double life as a Hero, or technically one of the strongest adventurers in the Empire, you know I'm instantly in.

Also I'm a fan for fantasy world stories, particularly in the royal family and the loyalty the people around them show to them. So you know I'm a sucker for good balanced otome isekai novels. When this novel had constant good scenarios and arcs featuring our Adler royal family here, I'm double hooked!

Unlike other isekai tr*sh and poorly written fantasy novels, Strongest Dull Prince gets straight to the point from its first chapter. A close family friend and former army General is assassinated simply because the guy didn't belong to the militaristic Prince's faction. And so our protagonists decide to strive for the throne themselves to ensure their survival, and create a law where in the future where the Empire's harsh succession war tradition will never happen again.

At times I wish we could see more perspectives of the enemy, and for our protagonists to come across more challenging opponents that aren't afraid to hide in the shadows until the time was right. The story too could deviate from the politics aspect by a little more, but the political side of the story isn't too heavy for me to the point it bored me.

But all in all, if you like reading about a fantasy world setting and love reading about its royal family as much as I do, then I'd definitely recommend giving this novel a try. There are so many characters that I have come to love, and those I have come to dislike but in an endearing way. Meaning not to the point where I'd absolutely loathe reading the novel and make me want to deliberately throw my phone for. I love the trust certain characters have for one another, and the bonds they have. So cute!

In the end the main thing I'm greatly anticipating - is the moment when Arnold decides to reveal his other formal identity as Silver. Oh how the world would be so shocked then. Muwahahahaha~! <<less

I had a fun time reading the beginning part of this novel. While I did enjoy it in the beginning, the novel started to turn out bad as the story went on. It's plot is FILLED with holes that simply don't make sense. Loads of the scenes can all be seened as forced so that the plot would go in the authors wish.

Example, ... more>>
Spoiler

Around c70 the youngest princess gets kidnapped. The method of kidnap can be somewhat reasonable but the way it was written is absolutely horrendous. Elna and Christa (the princess) were invited to one of their enemies mothers who which they know uses magic forbidden in the Empire. Christa has the power to see the future somewhat and Elna knows this, that she gets kidnapped since Christa says that she sees her friend get killed in a hut. There is no hut in the royal castle so the only explaination is to get kidnapped or leave the castle with Rita.

DESPITE knowing all this, Elna leaves Christa alone and goes to the enemy's mother. How does that make any sense, she knew that she was tasked to protecting Christa as a kidnapping is going to happen. Despite knowing that Elna still chose to leave her alone. That makes zero sense and the character even says that after the kidnapping happens. Like what? I know its how the author wants the plot to go but it is INSANELY poorly executed and just was not a fun read afterward.

Some more relating facts to the kidnapping.

The person who guided Christa was a maid with blood on her clothing. Why would NO GUARD question her at all. Sure she said that the prince was injured but that makes no sense why the maid would go to christa who is like a 12 year old. That is just dumb.

Also the kidnapping was done in the merchant side of the castle and she was just kidnapped out in the open. Like how did none of the merchants notice that at all. When Elna arrived at the merchant side, it was said that a lot of people were shocked to see her there. That indigates that people were there, yet they didnt see a PRINCESS run in with a maid with bloody clothes get kidnapped.

[collapse]

Honestly speaking, I liked the start I really enjoyed the concept of a prince with an appearance contrary to his actual actions. However, the book is unreadable to me now. The book is just filled with WAY too many plot holes that I really just cant read it anymore. The only reason I gave this a 2/5 is because the start was fun to me. After that I dont think I could give this any higher than a 1/5. Seriously disappointed with how the plots were forced. <<less

The story is quite enjoyable although many times unrealistic. Many reviews seemed to complain about the elder sister arc that was slow. I agree that it was slow but a story can't be fast paced all the time. However... if the celestial princess does not dissappear/mostly disappear from the story after the arc that is currently translated, I will drop this right away. I have never seen a more riddiculous and annoying character. I will give the the next arc a chance but right now the story is heading in... more>> a direction that feels like endless fillers while dragging the main story along. Read this story only if you like cliches done to the max, mixed with people with IQ in the negatives, and an author that is so obvious with the stuff he does to advance the plot that you are amazed that the characters cant see the hand of the author behind them in every chapter.

One of the worst examples of novels I have read in years.

about the time of the rebellion in the north arc

[collapse]

The first two major throne rivals are kind of paper thin villains and the author relies on the main character's secret superpowers too much so the intrigue and military tactics doesn't really pick up until later. Also the author doesn't really seem to have anything to do with Finne.

The story has some strong points, like the MC is a fairly well balanced character that avoids being a naive cliche shounen MC without turning into an unlikable Arifureta-esque edgelord. Some of the politics scheming is also pretty fun, it's just the ratio of that versus the general fantasy action is off. Side characters other than Finne aren't the worst either, but they aren't exceptional.

All of this said, eventually the MC is forced to stop using Silver as a crutch to solve all his problems and start doing military commander stuff. At this point, he's given up on the pretense that the MC is playing incompetent and moves the novel to focus more on continent-level diplomacy and less on the succession war. This improves the novel a lot as the author doesn't really do a lot of interesting things with the MC's mock incompetence and also the succession war suffers from fairly underwhelming antagonists; the latter arcs start to pit the MC against better written and more competent opponents which allows him to display the author's strengths which lay more in writing good battles and political drama. In particular, the Second Albatro story line is probably the best war arc I've seen in a JP novel: MC manages to be extremely competent without being omniscient and getting everything exactly correct. I'd give the novel a full five stars basically after that with the sole bad moment so far being

Spoiler

when it's revealed that his mask which he uses to conceal his voice being weighted training clothing a power limiter created to hide the user's ancient magic, which both the MC, a tactical and magical genius, and his ghost granddaddy master somehow do not realize; in general the author seems to have no idea how to make Al get a power up without giving him an OP item

Stick with it.

The aspect the author is best at is embodied in the saddest moments of this novel.

Redemption.

It's not perfect. The dialogue does not have a distinctive voice. Each character speaks in the same tone, sentence structure and often with the same word choice. I sigh every time a character ends a sentence with "you know?"

Thing is, it's incredibly earnest.

The author, even with those faults, still manages to imbue a lot of emotion in the main characters.

I find that endearing enough that I can't help but enjoy it.
