My Son Might Be A Villain

Su Ran, a music prodigy, woke up transmigrated into a book.

At that point in time, the main story arc in the book had already been completed. As a villainess female supporting character, not only did she need to take over the original owner’s pitiful life in poverty, she also gained an instant son right at his rebellious period.

Ten or so more years from then, the son would turn into a twisted, evil villain. He would appear in one of the extra chapters to pick on the male and female lead’s children.

***

Su Ran: Son, you shouldn’t be too outstanding.
Su Han: Why not?
Su Ran: ’cause you will be killed.

Su Ran: Son, would you like to learn music from me and become a zen, little fairy boy who only needs to drink dew.
Su Han: No, I want to go into business so I can support you.

I couldn’t put this book down at first, but it ended up being quite boring after a while so I gave up on it. I could literally scroll to the end of the chapter and have not missed a single event.

The start: you get to see the mother and son mend their relationship, the mother earn money to improve their life, and the fun scenes and dynamics that go along with that

the middle/end where I quit: chapter after chapter of the son and father competing with one another while the... more>> mom ignores it.

why were there so many chapters on the quality outing or whatever they called it 😭😭 it was just too boring to keep reading <<less

Starts as a main character wearing a novel and working to change the ending and becomes a slice of life novel. I do like how the author gives the main characters in the original novel an alternate ending in a parallel universe style. It made me cry so much.

This story has been a little disappointing for me--it had a really, really strong start, but quickly developed in ways I personally find offputting. The premise felt somewhat unique and the characters had a lot of initial appeal in dynamics and personality.

The female lead started out very assertive and proactive but quickly loses much of her strong personality upon meeting the male lead. She loses most of her agency within the plot and becomes a character that does a lot of reacting but little else. When you contrast it with... more>> the male leads constant action and the conflicts he finds solutions for, it's kinda obvious that she isn't doing much in comparison.

The romance up to the point I've reached has been very slow burn and one sided. Yet again, the premise to the main couples relationship is interesting but I feel like the lack of development hurts the story. The FL has no interest in the ML and is oblivious to the point of farce. So far, we haven't really been shown any concrete reasons WHY the ML is so taken with her beyond her skills and kindness.

I feel like there's so much wasted potential here--the FL's son, for instance, initially has this really interesting dynamic with her that couldn've led to some really fun plotlines about developing relationships and recovering from neglect. Instead their relationship develops at turbo speed without really exploring the consequences of the stories premise.

And this parts nitpicking but I personally really don't like the ML's treatment of FL's son.

With all that being said; there is still something appealing about the underlying plots regarding the "original story's" characters and relationships with eachother. If you focus on the plotlines about music and the previously mentioned ones, there are still some things about the story that are enjoyable. <<less

Really Liked it!! The pacing and the plot was good, Su Ran and Su Han's bond was definitely the highlight of the story. The romance element was a sub plot so it was lukewarm at best. My main point of contention was the lack of description in regards to suffering of the antagonists. Chuck getting some scenes instead their suffering was mentioned in passing as if they were not important enough which was honestly disappointing.

Also all that happiness I felt when getting a HEA in the main story... more>> went out of the door reading the extra stories!! Not entirely it was just a little bittersweet!

Spoiler

Seeing OG Su Han with the family for a few days was poignant. It was sad seeing him experience that warmth and love that he had craved his entire life just for a short while and return back to his world. Although their family felt incomplete without the FL in this timeline, I'm glad the OG Su Han found his way back to his family, his dad.

Su Han character is truly problematic. He is like a child without moral, unreasonable, too stubborn and bad attitude. I don't understand for what reason he hate his father. His behaviour is like an animal everytime he meet his father. I don't find any humanity in Su Han character.

If you think this is a plot then is not funny and too much too read. This novel is really bad example for teenager reader.

And Su Ran character is except music, she is so s*upid. Low EQ. She never try to correct... more>> and educated Su Han everytime Su Han shouted to his father, yelling to his father in public and dissing/badmouthing his father in public. She is really brain hole. <<less

There's a r*pe tag here!

The overal story is okay but sometimes I do question the logic in few areas.

About OGMC, although she looks pitiful I dislike her on how she treated her son. The author didn't go deep, just say a few things in the surface. Just don't think to much if you want to continue reading the story.
Anyway, the ML is like a decoration some other times to add flavour to the plot, he just have a little impact to the story unlike how his backgrounds are.

aandd MC had another two child in the latter chapter.

I like the extras the most. ☺ But Su Han is really a pitiful child. I wish that in his next life, he will get a life full of love.

A bit boring and the original novel MC is transmigrated to is infruating. There is little to no redemtion to the original host. MC is too self-centred and boring. But the story is well written easy to enjoy. Translations are also well done.

Its good but I kind of don’t like the... competitive spirit between the ML and son... and also I feel that the MC did not give enough time to her son like at all he was just expected to go with the flow like later on he gets a very messy little brother and a cute sister and he becomes a babysitter 😞 I just think it would be really nice if ML and MC can pay more attention to son than MC... but MC is the main character so... more>> :/ <<less

I think this a good novel. You can find relationship between MC and ML are logic. Su Han, as their son, have tsundere character. He is my favorit character😆.

Actually I don't realy like "Su Ran's" past life. But it's okey. Su Ran in this novel is a soul from another world. So, I can accept it.

I'm kinda torn on this one tbh. Like I love the interaction between the MC and her kid but the moment the ML shows up n the way he just does things just ticked me off.

Spoiler

Not to mention the whole age gap thing which I'm quite confused about? She's 27 and the kid is 13 right? Unless mistranslation or anything that means she got him at 14! R*aped and kicked out the family too? At 14? Damn. And yes, update: I hate the male lead lol.

I swear the only thing that's making me like the novel is the interaction between the mom n son. And if that sperm donor takes that away from me, I'm dropping this <<less

Oh my I really loved the tsundere son and his interactions with an equally cold ML.
Spoiler

And the second son is such a cutie too! My heart broke when I read about the event that lead to the sons blackening and I’m glad he got a happy ending too.

[collapse]

it really makes us think about the ‘ happy ever after’ that we usually see in novels and whether the villains really deserved their punishments. Usually when we hear of the villain getting counterattacked by the MC, we feel that it’s justified but reading this novel made me realise that sometimes the counterattack is really overkill especially when the villains are actually children like the ori su ran. The romance was a bit rushed and wasn’t really interesting for me but overall a really good novel.

My rate is 4 stars (i can't change the rate lol)

Overall this novel is pretty good, in the beginning its lil bit dark and theres a tragedy, but in the mid and the end its like slice of life of suran and her son suhan and then lu shao. 4 stars just because the story can be more better and im a bit confused in 3 last chapters (98-100).

So if you like slice of life story you can try to read this one, but im warned you in this... more>> novel you cant find a steamy story *sobs* but suran and lushao its a cute cp. <<less

It's so cute! The only problem I might have is the age difference between the MC and her son but I realize why it exists. It just makes me uncomfortable. The way the MC interacts and adjusts to her new life is really cute and the son gradually learning to love others is heartwarming!

2nd read in Oct 2023: I will still give this a 4-star rating. However, this time, I no longer have issues with the son being a thirdwheel. In fact, I often want to complain about ML because he always pushes the son away so he can spend time with MC. I feel bad for this cutie son. He already missed most of his years lacking parental love, but right when he finally gets it, his dad still steals the love and affection from the mom. Another thing why this doesn't... more>> get 5 stars is because the antagonists are not even real antagonists. They are completely harmless. Also, the children of the antagonists seemed to be good children but they were only introduced at a surface level. It's wasted potential for more plot. The translation is ok, but they need a proper editor. I spotted a lot of grammatical mistakes, wrong word usage, incorrect spelling of words, and the names of characters often get mixed up. 1st read:

I love the MC and her son! He doesn't get rid of his tsundere personality throughout the story, which is fine but he eventually becomes such a huge third wheel or as they say in chinese novels, a bright lightbulb. It's a pity the romance area of the story was quite lacking. The 'original' main lead also does not pose much threat so there's that. The MC's path is very smooth and rarely met with any bumps, especially if you consider how "dirty" her past is. (Although I personally believe that one should not shame s*x workers for their jobs. It's just an exchange of goods - a way of earning money.) The "new" Su Ran did not suffer at all, despite the reputation the original owner has.

I completed the main storyline, I stopped reading the extra chapters because I was no longer interested. It also does not affect the main storyline, so there's no need to read them. I started reading the mtl version at chapter 56. Overall, despite the weird wordings at times, I read through the mtl version quite quickly. <<less

A short novel and without drama, those words summarize this work, what I liked about all this beautiful work, was the interaction of the father with the son, he has a barbarous way of educating children.

SPOILER, if you don't want to know about the spoiler, don't read, I can't say much about the protagonist, everyone when they read the novel will find it strange that the son accepts the mother very easily, when the real mother was cruel, and it is something that It leaves you a void, because... more>> at the end of the novel she never clarifies from Lu Shao or Su Han who she really is. It's also funny when they try to have a second baby, and they were expecting a girl and they get a boy, and Su Ran didn't want to throw away the girls' clothes or accessories that she bought so for a year they put girl's clothes on her. In short, hypocrisy. It was a very entertaining novel, recommended, you will like how Lu Shao proposes to Su Ran. It was so romantic, and fast xd. <<less

It is a novel with a lot of romance and beautiful moments.
MC tries to cope with her new role as a mother and adapt to her environment.
Maybe it bothers me a little how the child forgives her mother so quickly but anyway. If you like light novels where there are no extraordinary twists and you just want to hang out ahead

Spoiler

The epilogue, it was simply beautiful, the villain made me very sad, I just need to see how he interacted with his brothers.

I hope the translation is completed to read it again, I think it may change some things a bit

This is definitely recommended for a good time. I loved the interactions between father and son. I started this novel with the translation from Fuyuneko and read until chapter 48. Translator did a great job with this novel. Unfortunately I was impatient and couldn't wait for updates, so I finished this novel in MTL. 16 raw chapters equal to 48 chapters in translation (approx). I guess I would have had to wait for almost 6 months to finish this novel if I depended on translator ?. Anyway, I would suggest... more>> you to put this on your reading list and read it after the complete translation. You would have a great time that way. Kudos to Author-san ? <<less

It was an overall fun story to read. Perfect for just some light stuff or maybe something to read in between a heavy novel. It isn't that deep, there's no large drama or overdramatic fight scenes and it's very relaxing to read in general. It's fairly short and the chapters aren't tedious to read.

The reason I gave this a four was because of the writing. It was still a good read but the writing did have some shortcomings, the characters and plot sometimes seemed to lack depth and some stuff... more>> like the su family drama just gets dismissed like it never happened. MTL was a little hard to follow but it was still ok.

I wouldn't rave about it, but I might mention it in passing. <<less

A somewhat different setup than others in this subgenre, very slice-of-life, but just not as fluffy and entertaining as I’d hoped.
