Lin Mu rescued a Samoyed.

Capable of eating, smiling, has a high IQ. Picks up anything you teach him quickly, a good helper around the house.

The only thing was that he doesn’t bark nor wag his tail.

Lin Mu took a ham sausage and coaxed for the thousandth time, “wag your tail, and this ham sausage is yours to eat.”

The Samoyed raised his eyes impatiently, and with a single shake of his tail, shook out nine.

Lin Mu: …… F*ck.

Afterwards, the fox that did not wish to reveal his name, Mr. Yan Xuanjing, said in an interview: “Now I regret, I deeply regret. At that time, I shouldn’t have pretended to be a dog to take advantage of him, shouldn’t have touched him, rubbed against him, eaten his food and slept in his bed. Now I have a home that I can’t return to and a wife I can’t sleep with, I regret, deeply regret.”

Very enjoyable novel. Funny with emotional plots. ML as fox with his "pride" is so cute.

Really nice supernatural novel. The plot gets going quickly and it's a thoughtful blend of humor and sorrow. Reminds me a bit of Harry Potter- creative world, good use of mythology, well-defined & unique characters. High on my list, will be re-reading!

Ridiculously cute and fluffy! While there is some death and sad themes, overall this is a very satisfying and sweet story.

It's a sweet story but I feel like a lot of times the author would ramble and seem to get distracted. There were some emotional moments that I'm a sucker for and they didn't interfere with the story, it felt like they were weaved in nicely.

One thing I didn't care for at all was that the main pair basically didn't even get together and it wasn't until the very end and it was just one kiss!

[collapse]

This doesn't deserve the tag of 'yaoi' and barely reaches into shounen ai!

It was an good read to pass the time, had good comedy, and had good emotional and philosophical moments that I liked which is why I rated this higher than I would normally, but if you're looking for something romantic this isn't it. Since I was craving the romance aspect (that's what I was looking for when I cl**ked on the title) I wanted more of that than the creative story, which is why I didn't give it the highest rating. <<less

Literally a 10/10 for me.

I love stories that are more of a slice of life style and this is perfect for that. It tells the story is such a lighthearted way.

Everyone in this story is morally grey. And there is a beauty in the way the author explains everyone's thought process. Especially the thought process in a monster and in a human. The differences in it especially. You can especially see this in between the MC who was raised a human and the ML who is a monster. Them trying... more>> to match each other's wavelengths is hilarious.

But overall, , world building is beautiful.

All characters are 3 dimensional. You can't help but love them.

MC and ML they don't fall in love immediately. It takes time for them to develope genuine feelings.

The story is unrealistic at times because how can everything be solved so neatly? How can everything be so idealistic?

But overall. I really enjoyed reading it. It's a really humourous story and you come to all the characters. It focuses more in the relationships of the characters. It's a lighthearted story. It has some really sad parts but overall, it was really lighthearted. I loved it <<less

Binge-read this work, its both super fluffy and a bit sad. The characters are so adorable! Even though the romance-quotient in this work is not that big, the MC-ML pairing is adorable.

This one is very cute, full of fluff with a side angst too. But still light at heart.

I like the MC, he still have heart like human but not overly ask the monster to have the mindset as his.

I like the ML is so straight and blunt, he sincerely wanted to protect MC and not overly protective too. Like teaching him fly lol.

I love the side char too, each of them are so cute. Just hoping for more dog food from the main pair. But it also good like this.

It was cute and there was no third party involved in their relationship. This was a new bl theme with new monsters and human relationship.

All characters are cutee and I definitely love Nie Shen (you'll fall in love with him too)

The knly reason I gave this 4 star even though it cute and everything was because the ending was too sudden

kept it coherent. The characters were OK, no one too memorable or that stood out to me. I think what's most memorable to me for this novel is the humor-- the author has a great sense of comedy, I literally laughed out loud for some scenes. <<less

This book is one that’ll make you very happy after you’ve read it. It’s genuinely funny and although it doesn’t have a heavily complex plot it’s still nicely put.
I adore the characters!

it’s not bad, but not really good either.

the characters need more development and emotion because they’re too 2d for a supposed “mystery” but most especially the ml.

  • MC is almost 25 but still very much emotionally immature so there are times where he’s contradictory to himself or imposing double standards without realizing. however, we somehow have no deeper thoughts from him? this is an age where someone new to adulthood would question a lot of things and given the background of our MC, even if he truly is grateful and happy that he still had people loved and cared for him, there will still be some thoughts and questioning he wouldn’t be able to escape from. it would’ve added more conflict and interest in the story.
  • ML is so boring... I love cold love interests with facial paralysis but that’s usually on the basis that they would have some character development of sorts and eventually express more emotion to at least one person. this ML is truly not multifaceted. does he have no hobbies or interests? a favorite food he happened to like during the time he was thrown down to fight for himself or be abandoned? idk? isn’t that usually the perfect arc for something like that? he also has little to no reaction to things, the only reason MC probably likes him is his face and fondness for him as his dog (._.) I also just realized ML seems a lot like a guard dog more than an ml... if he didn’t have a human form, he really would be one lmaoo
  • the baby monsters are so cute and were my favorite in the story but I feel like they were used more like an excuse so MC wouldn’t have to do much at home without purposely throwing the responsibilities to someone. mc’s father and uncle are okay. ml’s dad is a terrible father and leader. I wish ml’s mom appeared earlier.
  • nie shen is a character who could have been more interesting but the “you can’t speak against someone when you haven’t experienced what they have” garbo is so pretentious and tryhard. nie shen’s experiences of discrimination could have been a topic to be talked about until it was mixed with the fact that he was just beaten because thAt’S hOw the wIldreness wOrKs, but okay, the author wants to eat their own words and settle it with his experiences being simply because he was in the world of monsters. fine, if that’s the case, then he can’t simply slaughter cities while victimizing himself. it’s underwhelming to learn that he did all that he did just because “boohoo i’m so tragic” and he wants to cry to the heavenly emperor. what a load of bull. you attempt to shake the balance of the world just for that? idk. the author keeps writing things that contradict what they previously wrote. they made nie shen out as some villain and suddenly he’s living in the same roof as MC, probably being raised as a second son and as mc’s colleague? so we aren’t gonna talk about how he almost shook the balance of the world with all the trouble he caused and why he crossed over to the central plains? where is the f*cking conflict? i’m on my knees, author. this is some “they’re killing us with guns but we should talk first” type of energy. slice of life can still have conflict. blandass plot smh so let’s talk about that
there is barely... more>> any plot. little happens here and there’s a lack of direction. I feel like the author had ideas and inspiration about how to go about writing this (e.g. natsume yuujinchou) but they simply don’t grasp the perfect strike of mystery underneath slice of life and tender romance. in fact, the romance is very lacking.

  • every supporting character to be introduced outside of the little lin family and in-laws could have been a villain of sorts but absolutely nothing happens.
  • 65 chapters in and I feel like I wasted my time because there are no cases that the MC gets involved in or tries to get involved in. he doesn’t leave his house unless it’s for his job and even then, he’s still super safe and out of trouble because his pet boyfriend is with him.
  • i have only 20-something chapters left of the story and have nothing to talk to about
i personally like reading the first 20 chapters but everything slowed down after that and I just kept reading to see the romance which didn’t even meet the standards of a story with the goddamn romance tag. take that damn thing off. I've seen shounen ai stories without the romance tag that were more romantic than this.

i don’t regret reading this but I wish it was better. wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it. I also stopped reading because I felt like I've read enough and that nothing else interesting would happen. <<less

Mild slice-of-life story about yao (shape-shifting nature spirits/demons, called monsters in this story) at the human border. Characters were interesting, but plot could have been better.

I was hoping for something involving more yao, more case-solving, more action, like Don't Discriminate Against Species. Instead, ... more>>
Spoiler

the MC stays at home or at the nearby office for the entire story and the main story ends abruptly when he finally decides to leave home and go on a trip. The plot was mostly other yao solving the sacred trees' problem. You hear about the rest of the yao world, but don't get to see any of it, or the Queen Fox, until the epilogues.

[collapse]
If you liked this one, I'd recommend Don't Discriminate Against Species for a richer, more action/plot driven urban fantasy about humans and yao shapeshifters and office work. <<less

I loved the world building and I enjoyed the philosophies and the morals tackled in the story.

I loved how the main characters' relationship progressed. I think it happened smoothly and I love both the MC and ML 💖

This novel is basically full of fluff, some angst, and a pinch of mystery

The story is very good. The universe is also very good. The characters are also very good hahaha

I will not evaluate it, just because I missed the romance. I missed those sweet moments where MC and ML are together enjoying each other. They start dating and... that is it. I was waiting for the extras to see if there was something. But, don't have. So, I don't know exactly what grade to give. If it had more romantic moments, I would definitely give it 5 stars.

Set in current times but with Xianxia-style creatures.

Light-hearted, cute, very funny, but I was expecting more romance-wise. Last 15 chapters are plot-heavy. Cute side-pairings!

I came for fluff and I got it with other non fluffy beings that were in fluffy moments✨💖〜 (꒪꒳꒪) 〜💖 ✨

There were also sad and semi deep stuff, not much world building with comedy.... Having too many expectations from a novel gave hints about it being a light read will leave you disappointed and full of complaints. ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭

I thought the extra's were something like alternate universe or smth but.. its not #heartbroken# #crying with tears#

I really want to see an AU extra where di xiu, li mu, and li xueji (our lovely 'love plants forever' family) be together and then met the in laws (yan son-father and the queen)... also the passer-bys and uncle.

Sigh, but its still okay. Though im..a bit dissatisfied with the ending but eh, its fine??

wont place rating because I cant describe this novel as good or bad. Just average.

The 'killing' part is.. um idk im a bit okay by it. Maybe because I read too much novel that I know its fake and read too much unlimited flow, horror, mystery or even mu*derers related novels that I dont bother with killing part much.

For MC, Li Mu, hes likeable. Although his personality is somewhat complex but I still like how hes not dumb and dense and can pretty much know something when the others tried to hide it from him, but hes not mad at them and simply understand that he was too 'young' (23 counted as young in monster's age).

For ML, Yan Xuejing, hes more interesting when hes a fox. Well, I meant by in his original form. Hes silly, often confused and pretty much straight-forward when hes in the fox form. I know his brain circuit is different from humans and like, he doesnt actually understand humans much but its quite entertaining when he got a bit silly and confused (Yan-Milky-Xuejing: confused. jpg).

Kinda dissapointed when hes in the human form because he seems so dull, like the typical ML but like.. hes really dull. I know that he is 'majestic and cold' type of person but like.. maybe add some interesting facts about him or even habits. But oh well, im used to it. (AlreadyNumb. jpg)

Wish I can see da hei and old turtle at the ending, I also wish to see the whole 'Li Mu' Family gather up (dad, boyfriend, uncle wu, the dragon veins, the ginseng and little monster friends) and passerby Nie Shen with in laws, but sadly, its only a wish. Sigh.

[collapse]

Love and hate this novel, but applause for the author because they make the Yan-family so hilarious. <<less
