The Second Coming of Gluttony

“The son of god Gula has returned.”

I was lost in the world of gambling.

I turned my back on my family and even betrayed my lover.

I wasted every day of my life.

It was a life of tr*sh.

The reality told me thus:

That I would amount to nothing no matter what I did.

In order to change my pathetic life, I chose fantasy, instead.

Even then, it was the same story.

I wondered if salvation would come at the end of the long road.

But, I was forced to kneel down in defeat in front of a powerful entity.

The tower I built up with my own hands crumbled into nothingness.

Just for once, I dearly wished to know the truth about myself.

“Come closer, my child…”

I will not hold back this time.

Updated review after reading all currently translated chapters (64) :

Thankfully the MC did wisen up a bit from his extremely reckless and careless attitude he showed during the tutorial and the beginning of the "Neutral Zone".

But I put emphasis on "a bit" for a reason. It's much better compared to before, but that just mean that he's more or less back to "normal" instead of "worse than normal".

He still doesn't think to even check out the other stores besides the VIP store, he doesn't take advantage of being able to use many services for completely free (heck he could even "buy" things for free and then resell the items cheaper than the stores to the other survivors and make tons of easy and fast profits, while still helping them by cutting down the cost, etc.), and many other OBVIOUS things like this could and should have been done, or at least he should've thought and considered them.

But beyond all that, what's worst of it all is this: He never thought to give any tips to his friends, and he didn't even meet up with them. It wasn't until 2 months later (and mind you, they were all lead to believe that the Neutral Zone should have ended after 1 month, so basically none of his friends would've even been able to get through the Neutral Zone, yet he didn't even think about their circumstances a single time.) that he even remembered that they exist. And the only reason for that was because he was explicitly told to check up on Yun Seo-Rah and help her out a bit from his Recruiter.

For him it would've been the easiest thing in the world, almost no effort at all, and it would've helped his friends out tremendously. But as per usual with these novels, the MC lives in a luxury suit that can fit the entire Neutral Zone's population with room to spare while his friends live in the dumpster and can barely even scr*pe by... He finds out that buying abilities is only good for quick results but limits one's growth, but never though to mention this to his friends. (And as we later find out, the only reason they didn't buy any abilities was because they were too poor to even buy equipment, and could barely even get food to eat for 2 months...)

And still, when the MC finally do actually help out (after being explcily told to do so, he didn't even think of it himself, and if it had gone on as expected he'd find them all dead by the end...) they're oh so thankful and praise the MC for being a such a savior and all that usual crap.

The plus side here in this novel that makes it a bit more palatable is that at least the MC does sort of reflect over it and recognizes his faults to some extent, but it's not really true since despite "learning" and "improving" he keeps doing it again and again...

Overall I'd say it's a pretty average novel, what's interesting though is that while it's basically just the same as your usual novel, it's strangely different and unique. It's quite weird, but in short, somehow it's average and unique at the same time, and in that way it feels a bit "fresh" and "new" even with the same old tropes and cliches.

It's perfectly fine to read and if there were more chapters I could keep on reading this for a long time without a problem.

Initial review written during/after reading chapter 22 inside the spoiler below:
Spoiler

I expected a lot more, but the MC is pretty s*upid, ret*rded even... And I'm not talking about the very beginning which was obviously meant for him to grow and redeem himself.

He didn't even look at the notes even though he was repeatedly "hinted" (more like explicitly told to) to do so by the Guide and from tips he got, and he even looked through all his items later and still somehow didn't remember to even take a look at the notes.

He's going to stay and do missions for a month, so lets not buy any equipment and instead lets somehow rely on a couple of one-time use consumables from the tutorial. I'm sure they'll last for an entire month...

Heck he didn't even go and take a look. Seriously I can't stress this enough: he didn't even take a look at what other items were being sold, even though he got a 30% discount from his golden invitation and then another bonus from being in first place during the tutorial.

The very first thing that happened when he got to the Neutral Zone was that a maid even showed him how because of all his discounts and preferential treatment he could "buy" things for free. 100% off! Seriously, how ret*rded can he be to not even take a look?

The author even goes to show how the other characters have brains and think for themselves, meanwhile the MC is dumb as hell and only gets saved by plot armor. I really hope that the author intends to make the MC learn a bit of common sense, since it doesn't appear to be a problem caused by the author being s*upid himself.

p.s. Since I'm still somewhat hopeful I'll probably follow up this review with more after I've read all the translated chapters.

p.p.s I got so triggered while reading it that I didn't even finish the chapter before I started to make this review. But the MC does 'come to' himself and begin to reflect and analyze his previous actions during the latter half of chapter 22.

He comes to realize that he's being extremely careless and how relaxed he's been, how pretty much all of his "successes" so far has been handed to him on a silver platter etc. so I might very well have just reached the end of the tunnel and it's all going to get better from here on out.

I've been lurking in novelupdates for like 3-4 years, and having a 4.8 rating here are very rare (well, to be fair, most novels here are sh*t so..., But nonetheless people here are quite rash in giving rating)

Maybe most of you here are because that reccommendation from The Novel's Extra (TNE), just like me, if you did then great, you won't be disappointed.

What's great in TNE are, by my opinion,

1. The character development, unlike other novel where they have those one dimensional character that you just can't relate... more>> to, in TNE most of the character's actions are reasonably reasonable (e.g. the antagonist are not just evil because you just need those kinda person, but they did it because of some reasons, like what happended to them in the past, etc). That's why, most things they did are relatable, even those 'dumb' things that they do are relatable, you can see why they did those and how the characters change because they did so.

<In The Second Coming of Avarice, it's exactly so too>

Welp I kinda don't have that much time so this ended half way, and ended up more like a half-assed review for TNE lol, but still, The second coming of avarice is a very good and solid read. Much like TNE, or even better. <<less

It's very satisfying to read this novel. The author has obviously grown tremendously compared to his previous novel Memorize: characters have more personality, politics are murkier, story doesn't go off track (at least, up until c56).

Character growth

What is particularly good so far is the growth of the main character. He's set up in such a tr*sh opening that's actually believably done, with the right history, flashbacks and emotions to really give some insight into how people fall into bad places.

Then, remorse and power ups and, not an immediate, but gradual... more>> development to be a more positive person. He starts to fix his mistakes and this continues later on and gets rewards for his improvements.

Grit

Another great part of this novel is the grit. It's somewhat inconsistent - the novel will flip between easy going scenes and gritty scenes, not always with full rational. But he does paint some of the brutality and lack of inhibitions in a world where 21st century people are let loose in a death game in a medieval society, as well as the darkness of a gambling addict. The lack of consistency makes it fairly well balanced, in a way, so you're not always reeling.

Bad parts

It's far from perfect. The author loves the super power ups, which are a double edged sword. Not all that much external crisis to add to the plot either. The villains are not terrible, Oh Min Seo is pretty well developed, but neither she nor Kang seo get the impact or time they should.

Characters end up falling pretty squarely into 'good guy' or 'bad guy' categories, without really much in the way of doubts, suspicious or neutrals who are following their own path. Sure, the author will say 'this guy is self-interested', but if it's the bad guy, they go around trying to r*pe people for their self-interest, and the good guy decides self-interest is following the MC around like a lackey.

Also, the girls are way too easy. I actually quite like their initial characters, but the author loses touch with their day-to-day personalities and dreams as soon as he gets them to fall in love with the MC, kind of making them brainless afterwards.

The novel could definitely improve with a bit more emotional tension with the romantic interests, as well as with the supporting case.

Another issue is character consistency. I find as if the MC in particular behaves almost like a different character in Paradise than on Earth. The discrepancies could have at least been rationalised.

Rating

There are some things that make me want to give this a 3 star rating... but I really did enjoy the emotional issues with family/ex. Looking forward to see his next trip to Earth.

On hiatus

Looking forward to another group picking it up... korean series always seem to get dropped T_T

Doubly a shame, since the translations were of pretty decent quality. <<less

it could be great but screwed it. Earlier chapters we see MC as intellectual person, in tutorial you know but then he became so dense? Why? And the thing with MC and his family is so forced you couldnt even imagine. Author clearly tries to draw a pitiful, hardworking MC so we pity him and cheer for him but that doesnt work. It is irritating.

Earlier chapters like they stoling panties for money and selling their bodies cuz life in paradise hard and later on it is like "dont addicted to... more>> paradise", "go back to earth". Like what? If you could back earth at will then why would sell your body for entertaintment, and say it like "life in paradise is like this". No it isnt. Author clearly dont make sense.

And the "addiction" thing is meaninless as well. Everyone says your home is earth not paradise but dont explaining it. What does it mean? You could go back at will so why it is different from living abroad? And you could have no one earth, you could have losed everything? And first premise of novel was that actually. They were contracted to people who losed everything so could move to paradise but then it was like; "Your home isnt here". I mean, why? I couldnt understand this? A person could choose the life they want to live. MC could choose live in war and adventuring with risking his life. No different then extreme sports and could be more save them. No different then living abroad either, living in another planet.

As conclusion, the things I mentioned could be understood by who readed novel, as for newcomers, dont waste your time, dont let novel's rating deceive you. This novel seems pretty good compared to others in same genre but it is more frusturating than those waste novels. It is more irritating because there is some points that make you think; "lets continue it going to be alright" but it isnt. There arent any characters where their personality stay as it is. Crazy women became kittens, intellegent MC became dense and s*upid and then again intellegent. When author describes a character as "stubborn, crazy, smart" I'm pretty sure they are not have these traits.

waste of time! <<less

There's some interesting plot and set up, but it's ruined by too much harem. I don't think the MC goes 15 f*cking chapters without picking up another chick. He's not that much of a catch. Plot progression is diluted because the MC is too busy losing IQ points over a horde sized harem that grunts a lot (I know all the "Ughk" and the "Kuuhyak" sounds of surprise and excitement are supposed to be cute, but they come across as deranged).

If you like harems you will probably like this. You're... more>> entitled to your own opinion. I just hope I never meet you in real life, because you're a loser we have differences.

TL;DR - The author knew when to end a story! It had it's fair share of issues, but it definitely was a satisfying story. Recommended!

Thanks to everyone who worked on this novel!

Pros:

    • An Actual Plot - How good of a plot is a matter of a opinion, but the fact is that the author put a decent amount of thought into the story. Lots of foreshadowing, and I can't even remember any minor leads that went unresolved. Not your regular kill and level up story (though they can be fun ;D).
    • Character Growth - My favorite parts of the novel are when we are able to see the growth of Seol. A large part of the plot focuses on character growth, but it only truly happens for Seol on Earth. The issue is, within the bounds of Paradise, our MC is an infallible god who can solve an problem with ease. I can only remember 3 (?) times where he made mistakes:
      Spoiler

      1. He overestimates his abilities and challenges a Hard difficulty mission with little preparation. He survives due to his ability.

      2. He was part of an expedition into the tomb of a former Saintess of the Empire. His ability warns him of danger, but some within the expedition ignore his warning. They die.
      3. He makes some hasty judgements without consulting his team. No one is hurt, and he changes his behavior.
      [collapse]

These were barely his mistakes in the first place. I get that the author is trying to show the contrast between his two lives, but a character cannot grow by completing everything perfectly. This got worse toward the end of the novel. However, when it occurred, Seol's growth felt meaningful, impactful, and realistic.
    • Pacing - The fights were never boring nor dragged out, and neither were the training sessions. Towards the end it got a bit repetitive, but it never reached the point where I considered dropping it. Each adventure felt unique and exciting. I especially enjoyed
      Spoiler

the switches between Seol's life on Paradise and on Earth

      [collapse]
and wished the author would've explored that direction further (beyond Seol's personal development).
Cons:

    • MC Relationships - First things first, the relationship with
      Spoiler

his former girlfriend, Yoon Seonhwa, who groomed him

      [collapse]
is kinda f****d up and an unnecessary point to add to a perfectly good story. The result of that relationship is also part of why some readers dislike the MC's demeanor. Characters also slowly began to be reduced flat cardboard cutouts meant to accentuate the MC as the story progressed further. The author ended the story before it got extremely bad though. (The best characters are introduced in the middle of the story!)
    • Ability - The "cheat" Seol was given was interesting, but the author ended up using it in the most boring, one-dimensional way possible. Definitely some cool moments, but few and far between. Also, his other inborn "cheat" was definitely OP, even if he never used it properly. Can sometimes feel like deus ex machina.
    • World Building - Paradise had a lot of potential to be an interesting world, but Seol operates within a very small part of it. I am a big fan of political dramas, so I was severely disappointed by the lack of ~anything~ done by any of the organizations within Paradise/Earth. And the
      Spoiler

assassination attempt on Seol by Sinyoung and others

      [collapse]
barely counts. This is accentuated by some inconsistencies in the world, but I don't like poking at plot holes too much.

Probably the most overrated novel on this site.

The MC is a buffoon, even though he has so many tools, especially his eyes, he never use them, let alone wisely.

The leveling system is meaningless.

... more>> All female characters are one dimensional.

All characters that have cordial relationship with the MC tend to overpraise him.

There are some Korean tropes that demean Koreans, in my opinion. Then again, this work is by one Korean who writes what he believe other Koreans like.

The plot is bland and very convenient for the promotion of the MC.

All in all, a huge let down, since the first arc was quite okay. <<less

I originally didn't want to write this, but I felt seeing that the novel is about to be completed/completed at the time of this review, I felt that I needed to give a detailed, more impartial review, in comparison to the extreme 5* reviews raving about it and the 1 star reviews just ranting that everything about the novel is bad.

Firstly, I feel there is a need to emphasize that the setting of this story doesn't start as simply as a Demon God waging war with the world. This... more>> story begins where the Demon God already screwed the world over, and even when the protagonist brings part of his emotions into the past at the start of the story, It's still at the timeline where the Demon God is already 70-80 percent done with winning and just needs one or two more successful battles to clinch the victory. Basically, humanity is nearly screwed.

Also, the only beings that are able to do anything to change the situation are Gods that govern the world, but here's the kicker:
Spoiler

The gods are Sins, an obvious reference to the Seven Deadly Sins, but they are pretty much having their hands tied since the Chief God that has veto power over the world, as well as the Sins good counterpart, have all already been taken over by the Demon God and are turned against them (think of it as similar to originally being a 14 players and a gm vs 1 player, but because of circumstances it became 7 normal players vs 1 player with 7 super minions and hacks. Also, perhaps due to being Sins, the humans they summon are never really "good" people, but nearly always those from 'evil' or 'black' backgrounds such as the Triads, Mafia, Cartels, etc.

[collapse]

With that, the world setting is not a merry one. You could put it loosely being similar to the tone of Black Lagoon,
except that the humans in the story are being governed by gods and have a technical, overarching goal they have to achieve.

With such people being the main majority of humans in the story, do not expect anybody with good intentions within the the story to have good intentions, and expect a lot of easy objectives in the eyes of the reader to become ridiculously hard in the eyes of the protagonist because of the mindsets of the majority of such people moving only in the name of individual benefits.

With that out of the way, lets start with the good points about the novel:

World building: It's definitely one of the better ones out there. While we don't know much about it at first, we get to slowly find out how f*cked the entire world is and how it even got to that state in the first place. However, one of the significant drawbacks is that because the author loves making the protagonist decide to do f*cking dangerous things for nearly no reason at all beyond a "bad feeling", especially at the start, we get to explore at most, three and a half? of the countries and their situations because every other time its just the protagonist being made to save asses by the author.

Combat Dialogue: This is really one of the main reasons why I enjoy reading this novel. In every significant battle the protagonist participates in (not fight, but participates), the author is able to bring in the tension and emotions of the battle, where even one wrong step will ensure instant defeat for the protagonist and his party. The portrayal of reversals between both protagonist and the enemy is also makes it very fun to keep reading immerse into the battles.

Character Growth: Now I wouldn't say the author did a good job at this, but if you were to ask me to choose between a yes and a no, I would grudgingly say yes. For me personally however, this only really picks up for the main character and the side characters only around chapters 130-150, which is during or after
Spoiler

The Banquet Arc

[collapse]

Side Characters: They aren't two dimensional Helper A and Helper B for sure, each side character in the story always comes back later on for the unique role they play which is integral to the story. however, like I mentioned earlier, a lot of them do not have much character growth beyond their initial background that was given to the reader.

Enemies:
Spoiler

There are some reviews that claim the MC is op, and this is true in a certain way which I will get back to later, but in terms of battle capability, the MC is actually by far extremely underpowered until around chapters 250 onwards, and even then in terms of straight up duels he nearly never has a fight where he can overwhelm or fight on even ground against the enemy except for 2 to 3 ocurrences.

[collapse]

Now the bad parts, and also one of the biggest reasons people give this novel 1 star reviews.

MC's Cheat skill.

Put it simply,
Spoiler

he has the ability to see other people's statuses (which includes emotions, basic personality and their way of life) and sense danger according to what is told to us at the start of the novel. With no cost required from it aside from needing to use up a tiny amount of energy as far as I can tell. Basically, at nearly 0 cost.

[collapse]
From this alone, you can already tell how s*upidly overpowered this skill is and how much of a deus ex machina it can be to the MC. Conversely, you can also already tell how s*upidly difficult it is for the author to now create a realistic story and challenge to the main character without creating plot holes/ giving dumb reasons why the MC didn't use his ability during a certain situation which would have made things so much easier. This happens multiple times throughout the story, and while it is not often enough to make me drop the novel, it is often enough for me to understand why people would rant about it.

The Main Character:

Yes, the abrupt personality changes at the start of the novel do not make much sense. Even if you factor in the fact that his emotions from the future affected him, it is not enough to explain the shifts in personality, not to mention the... childlike things that he does. It is so bad that
Spoiler

Even his allies talk extensively about it later on in the story

[collapse]
. And while that does help give readers a further insight as to how and why the MC ended up with such a personality shift, it is something that the author tried to incorporate into the story, but did not explain why well enough at the start of the novel.

All in all, my rating for this is 4/5 while it is a novel with a few glaring downsides, by no means does it deserve a 1/5 rating. However, due to how obvious the bad points of this novel are, neither do I feel that it deserves a full 5 star rating, or even 4.5 for that matter.

P.S, Also to correct an exaggeration from one of the reviews:
Spoiler

One review claims that the one of the situations the MC was in had him throw a bunch of grenades and retreat which for some reason thousands of high level rankers around couldn't do. This is an exaggeration, as the amount of Isekai-ed humans around him at the time could only be 68 at maximum according to the story and native humans in that world are unable to get strength on the same level as those from the same planet as the MC, with only one exception. Also, the MC had plot armour in the form of a item that allows him to triple/quadruple his speed, which would be much faster than any other high ranker around at that time.

Firstly Ennei's review perfectly summarizes my viewpoint about this novel.

Honestly I can't believe the people who say that this is an amazing novel. Like I fell for those reviews and read this and I was disappointed.

MC suddenly became op and a typical harem protagonist who can't look in the eyesof females without blushing. Let me remind you that he was a gambling addict who stole money even from his parents. That kind of person won't suddenly become a good guy. But MC does.

And the whole setting is so flat and... more>> boring. Especially after the tutorial is over.

Rather than this story of MC receiving gifts and experience from his previous life. I would have loved to read the original timeline about MC struggling and surviving in the other world when he didn't have all the good things given to him. Even that would be so much interesting.

Anyways. I won't recommend this.

The thing I super hate is when the main guy pretends like he's different from other novel characters and references it. Like he'll say, I work so hard unlike all those main characters from novels that must mean I'm not the main character. Those other characters got cheat skills so easily unlike me. But you obviously see he's pretty much like every other main character.

The main guy reminds me of those annoying Japanese and Korean characters who are oblivious to all the women coming on to him for no good... more>> reason. He also has annoying anger issues for no reason. I think this story would probably be better if it just told the story of his previous self instead of this guy.

He of course has that super amazing luck that makes sure nothing goes wrong but that's the case for pretty much all martial art novels so I won't fault them for it too much. Just really makes the story dull a bit.

The only reason I keep reading is cause I keep staying interested in the slice of life stories in these novels. I usually just gaze through the fights cause the result is so obvious. <<less

I started reading this novel because of the manga but I'm kinda disappointed after getting this far.

The good things

[The plot, the side characters, the fighting scenes and the side stories of different kingdoms and the bad things that goes on in these different kingdoms]

... more>> The bad things

Honestly I hate when they make MC suck ass like this. Like he got all the skills and power to being strong but he is so dumb. It's like after he left the neutral zone he just became a dumba**. Once he got to paradise he became a kid who needs a mommy and daddy to take care of everything for him. And the sleep walking to find women tittes to sleep in, is like wtf. He is 26 years old been in the other world for more than 2 years and still doesn't know shit. And all his great accomplishments idk if I should call them accomplishments because I more so feel like everything he has done was relied upon luck nothing more nothing less. In a sense I wish he did become a s*ave because I feel like he would be way cooler and smarter than the current seol. I just feel like for him to be reborn he didn't really change nothing or be as awesome as I thought he was going to be because of how the beginning started off. Like it just turned me off to read a whole bunch of grown ass people calling a 26 year old man a lchild. And just baby him every step of the way. And it's just I don't see any leadership skills in him. Besides him willing to risk any and everything to save that other world he doesn't lead like a leader. He leaves everything in the hands of the woman who first contacted him and the master who was training him. If he not running off of emotions or training than he damn sure isn't coming up with ideas so that why it's kinda a disappointment. Like why can't every MC be like solo leveling MC but it still worth the read past the MC <<less

Let's take the start of the novel when his life is shitty he is a gambler, an addict and a leecher now when he receives well you cant say receive per se but dreams his life ahead he sees it all the shittyness his life brought him till the end and then he strives to become better now the issue starts he just had thought of quitting gambling now enter Kim Hannah which presents him a lavish reward and quality life just sign a contract with her which she obviously doesn't mention is a s*ave contract he os tempted to sign then remembers his dream and just says four words and boom Kim Hannah is so astonished but still then instead of the contract she has to begrudgingly give him the best of the best mark the gold mark which doesnt make sense she could have given him bronze or silver but gives him the best mark and he has no idea whatsoever how important that is because he just saw a fleeting dream where he selects contract and doesnt know about invitees at that point but he remembers after the contract his life was like a s*ave and he had no life after signing it so even after knowing what kim hannah did to him he is still chummy with her trusting her and what I dont understand how can a person change its still the same Kim hannah it's not like we had an alternate reality or something it was the past but he had dream memories of what happend to him due to her even then he is trusting of her

The upper spoiler was what I felt was the problem in the start now after his screening and everything in the neutral zone which is honestly a great arc he sets foot in the lost paradise

Spoiler

after staring his adventure or expeditions his every action going into what is possibly impossible for even rankers to clear he clears them the reason for his action was his emotions were acting out what kind of sh*t is that, then comes his idiocy in jumping into every situation where there doesn't even make sense for him to possibly comes back alive from but he still does.

Oh and he sees dangers based on colors so one time he a party to clear a mission he knew there was really dangerous ahead it was crimson red color but he can't convince his party members because he can't disclose his abilities and yeah you guessed it others regret not listening to him earlier and he just waves it off when just escapes his situation due to sheer plot armor the problem is instead of leaving when he can't convince his party members instead he follows them into the impossible knowing full well he cant survive that but he survives and some of the party members die. Well as I said plot armor

Word of advice. Only read the parts before the tutorial and after the neutral zone (around chapter 40, I don't remember). The characters in the tutorial and the neutral zone part of the story barely appears later or doesn't appear at all while the story in these parts are not necessary in the main plot.

Sad thing is, the only parts of the novel that got me hooked into reading are those in the tutorial and neutral zone. These parts have great story and character development, to the point that you... more>> would even be in a state of anticipation as to what the author have for the characters after they exit the neutral zone (like the MCs party members as well as the foreshadowing on the growth of his co-area 1 friends). The novel at this point had great potential, sadly the author didn’t take advantage of this and just wrote about quests and missions and new characters with redundant personality relative to previously introduced ones. He totally forgot about them. This is a proof of lack of prepared plot. Maybe he just wrote what came to his mind or what the readers told him to do.

the part up to the princess rescue mission was still fine but after that, it went downhill. New characters got introduced, like a certain priestess, some crazies, semi-crazies, etc. But their personality is similar to previously introduced ones. It got to the point where it became frustrating just reading the dialogues between the MC and them. The only motivation I have is my expectation on the reappearance of the first characters in the novel. Sadly they barely appeared or get mentioned in the later parts of the novel. I felt I like was toyed by the author, like I wasted time reading such long chapters. <<less

I wont give a review unless its really really good story, because I have high standard for my own taste. But this, is a must. I can't stop reading this, for 1 week nonstop I just immersed in the world of this story.

See, if you like to read a story with great characters development, this is my recommendation, trust me. Endure it at first because time will tell, it is not truly long until you become addicted, its worth it. I say characters because you will see... more>> many people died/disappeared in unexpected ways, while another character you did not expect before appear and have their own part in the story. The minus is this story has many exciting ecchi parts but make you frustrated because the MC wouldn't devour any girls because of his naivety. Some parts will confuse you but anything will become clear trough the time.

As for the MC, let say he is like a big kid regardless his age, growing in bad direction, but after the story started he becomes innocent and naive because of his condition. Not knowing about his ownself identity and confused because of the vision he got about the future of him, full of regret about his choices in life. It looks like he got a 2nd chance (like reincarnation or something like that) to fix his regrets in the past, while actually it just his vision about his fate in the end of his life. So his only option if he dont want to become like what he saw in the vision is to change the future through his action and choices, which is affecting the world like butterfly effect. His personality growing in every arc, from a naive kid to become a sad*st one if needed by the situation. And I truly love the side characters beside the MC, they have great contribution to shape the development character of the MC. I can see the author love of manga/anime and creating many characters with their own unique personality based on the mainstream characters you can find in any great anime/manga. You may find it cliché but I can guarantee it won't boring you at all because of the richness of their interaction and the situation.

This story has its own unique world, not only using stat value to identify the strength of the character but also using traits as part of their strength. It feels awkward at first but interesting and amusing trough the time. Based on that fact as parameter, you can really feel the development of the characters trough the time. Trust me, this is a good read. <<less

5 star rating for this KR novel who never betray and went beyond my expectations. I honestly don't have any good experiences with KR novel but alas, this is the only exception. Really the best KR novel so far in my opinion.

Just when I was tired of the same old tr*sh I came across this. I thought "looks like another Isekai novel, here we go again." Boy was I surprised! This novel is simply amazing! There's a slow and detailed world building and the characters are very well developed. The story is fast paced and detailed. Its very well written. My trouble with most light novels is that the characters are one dimensional but here the characters are well thought out and interesting. Its troubling how a lot of characters in... more>> light novels see things as black and white my way is right yours is wrong in real life things are a lot more grey. There are shades of grey in a lot of characters makes the characters more interesting. Easily one of the best light novels i've come across- highly addictive <<less

A good korean novel, the plot is good, the setting is good, the MC's development is good, the side characters have their own personalities, the writing is good, even the translation is good and the arcs are going well and always new adventures.

What I don't like and consider as a downside in this novel is the author making the MC dense and act like a virg*n (even though he isn't), the novel itself started with a mature theme (ex: a woman whoring herself in the neutral zone, s*xual harrasment in... more>> the tutorial, d*ck sucking on a carriage with people watching, etc) and with time none of this is mentioned again and it made it seem like the world environment changed, in other words this turned to a shounen (you can see the author did this intentionally), also even the MC had s*x with a teamate twice, then abruptly the author makes him act like a virg*n and like they never had a sensual relationship, and I'm not gonna lie this pissed me off, made me remember what the author of Release that witch did with the relationship of Roland with Nightingale. Not to mention in this novel the MC is surrounded by many women (even though it's the case, you don't feel it's a forced harem), and many of whom are interested in him but he interacts like a childish teenager with them.

Another downside is: the MC doesn't make full use of his innate ability, even though he can read the status of people, seems he doesn't care, he only does at after being acquainted with them and knowing them, like a sort of confirming what he already knew. In an event this was really frustrating: someone was covered from head to toes and was not even speaking and was gonna participate with the MC's party for an event, and the team didn't know his name or background, and even though the MC had the ability to check his status he didn't and was just speculating like his other teammates. <<less

It's a great novel. Recommended if you liked problem solving novels.

It's a harem, although their relationships were platonic, friends. But usually the females were strong characters, bosses, princess, martial art trainer, the six crazies.

The author introduced some characters at the start, and then the story rotated around the MC, but I think those characters will be brought back into the main storyline again.

There are gods, and the position of the gods in the story were interesting, they were omniscient and they provide guidance. In isekai in general I think they... more>> are usually portrayed as weak.

The MC positioned himself as chaotic alignment. That is he didn't see people as good and evil, rather trying to be rational and embrace both sides. This is the part where I'd say it's interesting if you liked problem solving novels.

There are references to Christianity but not pronounced. "Do to unto other what they do unto you", something like that? It is the main idea of the novel.
Would I recommend it to Christians? Not orthodox ones, there are gores and nude scenes. <<less
