Kawamura Hideo, a typical ordinary guy with no job, came to Tokyo searching for jobs. He sent a total of 34 job applications only to fail at the first hurdle (the companies didn’t even ask him for an interview). Feeling rejected he became a hardcore hikikomori and shut the world around him, his parents also won’t send him money since then. When he was starving to death without any money, losing hope and deciding to die, he found a computer on the street (containing Will.CO21 virus) and took it home.

He found a way to participate in a martial arts tournament “Holy Devil Cup” from that computer. Where the winner could get the power to rule the world, martial artists, soldiers, vampires, Majin – all 3024 participants gather there. Now what Hideo would do to win this mad tournament. . .

The only reason I read this novel is for the translator, Yoraikun who also translated Sevens and The Hero of The Shield. Unsurprisingly, this series is good. Maybe not as good as Sevens but is worth reading.

A shut-in is about to kill himself when he finds a computer and gets infected with a computer virus, the female MC of this series, and, in order to survive since he is broke (no money), the virus gets the MC to participate in some sort of battle royale among equally weird human beings... more>> and supernatural entities.

This novel is apparently setted in the same universe of another novel Yoraikun was translating, I have not read that one yet, so some of the characters who should ring a bell, unfortunately, do not.

It's fun and has some exiciting moment, however, I don't seem to find the actual direction the novel is going. It's not a huge drawback since the novel seems to be more focused on the comedy/lightheartedness than an actual plot/drama. Maybe it's just me and I have not gotten to that part yet, who knows.

Just give it a try ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯ <<less

The story was interesting enough for me to binge-read it start to end in just 2 or 3 sessions.

Lots of comedy and action, no tragedy - perfect for my current poor emotional state. Pretty good translation, overall.

MC is not OP, is occasionally moody, and mostly desperately scrambling for survival. Sometimes he wins by playing the odds, sometimes he outsmarts his opponents, sometimes his opponents screw themselves over, sometimes he just brute-forces his way to victory, sometimes his partner helps him win, sometimes his partner wins for him and sometimes he... more>> just plain loses. <<less
