You’ve Got The Wrong House, Villain

Description

As if it wasn’t enough for me to be reincarnated as a child in the slums, I was taken to a city of crime and became a test subject.

But then, when I saw the man that came to destroy the research institute, I realized that this was the world of an angst-filled reverse harem novel.

While living a relatively normal life after escaping from the institute, the heroine of the novel moved in next door.

From the looks of it, I might be the heroine’s neighbor extra.

Originally, the heroine was to save the unconscious and fatally wounded villain and in return, be subject to a fanatical obsession.

But, why. Why is the sub-villain collapsed in front of my house?

The sub-villain, Lakis Avalon, was the king of the underworld and the very same frightening man that I had met at the institute before.

“…”

I took a moment’s glance around then I kicked the man’s body away.

You’ve got the wrong house, Villain.

well, surprise, surprise—i would be giving an informal review. Although this novel COULD HAVE been more, I think it's worth to waste time on. However, I swear you would wish for more. So read at your own risk. Plot is great, it has so much potential and even though it's great to leave me on cloud nine for a couple of days, the plot holes is much more memorable than the plot itself. Yes, it's THAT frustrating. Also, I would love to reread this a few more times but the... more>> poor transitioning from chapter to chapter is making me dizzy. I can't read korean so I don't know about the original version if that's the case, but the translated version is meh.

i wrote this after I finished the novel. So here are my few takes, although it would contain a lot of spoilers:

Spoiler

idk how to feel about the ending. I think I'm satisfied because it's not the usual wedding-ending type of manhwa but at the same time, I wish it was like that. Yuri is so cool, lakis is hOT. For me, their chemistry is one of the best!!!!! There's a LOOOOT of plot holes, a lot of things were left out by the author. Yuri is like spider woman lol and lakis is op—literally, I wonder why he was betrayed in the first place. There are a lot of missing information about their powers and why they feel some sort of "sensation" when they're in contact with each other physically. Guess we'll never know more about that. Even lakis' power is mysterious, especially the voice in his head. But I like how the story is not too focus on the orig novel that yuri read in her past life. She is so laid back and chill lmao I aspire to be her but AAAAAAA it's frustrating! What happened to the OG three male leads kalian, genos, and damon?!?!??! Though I love how the author ended the story with them being somewhat partners. I love seeing the bromance lol and ofc anne-marie and hestia my girlies!!!!! They are so sweet, I kinda wish they followed yuri to the west though. I know their grandmother, tatiana, fetched them but they didn't even show it. Yuri just hinted anne-marie about it and then poof nada!!!!!

[collapse]

I WISH IT WAS A BIT MOREEEE like please GIVE US SOMETHINGGG I'm sad because this has potential, there's a lot of interesting things in this novel but left unanswered in the end. I don't know if it's deliberate but 🤷🏻‍♀️ it's such a shame because they are things that require proper explanation and background. I think the author failed to deliver in the end. They did give it a solid climax though lol but again, in the end, it was a disappointing drop. AAAAAAAA really, so disappointing because it's not your usual historical-isekai romance but it's a sci-fi fantasy-action so it has so much potential!!!!! Imo, such plot is wasted because of the poor execution. <<less

Plot started out good and interesting, the chemistry and tension between the leads were also good but what dissatisfied me most was the fact that the plot ended so abruptly, like I honestly thought it was just the starting of something to soon reach the climax (͡°Ĺ̯ ͡°). At the end, I was thoroughly disappointed so the 3 stars for the translater and the good chemistry between the leads though they never confirmed their relationship at the end.

Nakdhjekao I DON'T KNOW, I'M JUST SO FREAKING DISAPPOINTED. I read this... more>> till the epilogue of the main story okay?? Like nothing made sense at the end, there was no climax or tension fight at the end like I expected. IT JUST ENDED. LIKE WAUT?

Okay, bye. I'm done ranting, I just wanted to express my disappointment on the plot. Even 3 stra seems too much but oh well, I can't change it anymore (͡° ʖ̯ ͡°) <<less

This is one of my most favourite novel. The story itself is very much enjoyable and not cliché. And the FL and ML is my favourite! Everything is very satisfying. I will definitely recommend this for who like dark romance or romance thriller. This is the best choice to read. Also the ending is oddly satisfying. Although I would like to read it more or thousands time again. I will miss this so much! But good to finish than get boring haha.

I ended up REALLY enjoying this one. FL is a complete and total bad*ss who doesn't need anyone, and I loved that the ML fell for her because she doesn't really give a f about ANYTHING. The ML is also OP, and isn't threatened by how powerful the FL is, and appreciates it. He's a villain to the core, but he also respects her and all the other female characters as much as the males.

Okay so plot wise it is really good and interesting with all the attributes the author gave the MC, but I do wish she had more dynamic to her personality. There are few things tho that I wish they had a bit more of or that they improved on it;

    1. Spoiler
      [collapse]
The ending: I have to agree with one of the reviewers, it doesn't have a strong ending, it just comes across as just another normal chapter. In fact the scene where they finally leave the East while holding hands is where it felt like the ending and that wasn't the ending yet.
    2. Spoiler
      [collapse]
PLOTHOLES: It just leaves you empty with a bizillion questions. Like explain how the MC got inside the novel, AKA her origins, and how the ruins came into existence or how it's connected to her original world. Or how the ruins have the language of the original world? Or basically WHAT is the ruins itself? We also don't get told what happened to Selena Crawford at the end or why the MC has her appearance (we just basically get implied about it).
    3. Spoiler
      [collapse]
The MC and ML also never have a heart to heart conversation about their own background, like the MC knows who he is but never tells him and the ML does the same, it might come across as mutual understanding to some readers but it's not exactly like that either. These two don't really try to get know each other that much, at least not on a deeper level. Some could say that "Yh they do, the ML asked what she likes or not" or "What exactly is the MC supposed to know about the ML when she already read about him from the novel". Well, they never asked them personally or wait to just find out naturally. Plus our main character doesn't actually know how the male lead got his powers, cuz like how she mentioned the novel doesn't actually explain this.
    4. Spoiler
      [collapse]
There's also no background information about the MC before she entered the novel, like what kind of person she was or what she did, or how she came across the novel itself.
    5. Spoiler
      [collapse]
We also don't get an explanation of why she gets her emotions back whenever she touches the male lead. I know it's because he too was a lab rat and had the ruin's fragment but like he has an actual living organism in his body which never gets explained.
    6. Spoiler
      [collapse]
Like why was there a fake ML?? Where the f*ck did he come from? Yes I am swearing.
    7. Spoiler
      [collapse]
Oh yh she's also inconsistent (like how others said), the MC I mean. She's supposed to be emotionless but she's actually just dull and the author tries to justify it with something else.
    8. Spoiler
      [collapse]
Lastly, we don't know really know what happened to the the side characters after novel, like they too deserve a screen moment. Plus one of them even indirectly saved the MC but she don't even get to know it.
Overall

You can read it as a past time rather than get fully invested it in (which is what i've done by accident as you can tell from my rant) or maybe like a break after a reading a really good novel.

PS: I know I gave it a 4.0 stars but it was an accident and I can't seem to able to change it. Real rating is

. Also don't come at for not doing the spoilers correctly, this is my first time doing a review.

Novel recommended to skim or simply avoid.

MC is a spider power woman who can summon threads who was rescued by ML as a child after being experimented on. She knew he would arrive since she awakened past memories and knew she entered a book.

Later, she lives as a coffee shop worker, and then meets heroine girl. MC is surprised ML appears at her house (see the novel title) and then the rest of the story is a boring slice of life interspersed with the bigger plot. Author isn’t good at... more>> writing so the plot is very fuzzy. Basically, evil nobles keep experimenting on children to make them mutants, (give them powers) or create more ruin fragments, (radioactive fragments that can cause mutations) and so MC helps stop them.

The romance is very weak, with the ML instantly obsessing with MC and for some reason ML’s hand causes MC to get high. Plus, ML is handsome so MC rubs and cuddles him a bit. There’s nothing particularly outstanding in the story, with the MC being a weird person who doesn’t take much advantage of the plot.

A mediocre story, with a rushed ending not revealing if MC is Selena Crawford, the Ml’s marriage proposal, or what happens to heroine and the rest of the story. Barely +0.5/10 but a positive at least.

P.S.: Author sure makes it weird when MC and ML touch hands. Very strange. <<less

If you are into VERY slow paced story and romance, them this might be to you taste. Unfortunately, I don't like this kind of progress. For me, it feels like the story had a lot of fillers that could have been easily shorten. We are already aware these two will end up together -we don't need the entire history in detail as evidence. -.-

The plot moved a bit slowly, but it is extremely interesting to read and even though the MC is op, since it is more of a love story, it doesn't matter very much. Overall, this is one of the best novels I am reading and I would definitely recommend others to read it.

First of all, this novel was definitely satisfactory. It had great character development, interesting plot arcs, and emotional backstories. The only reason that I rated it a 4 was due to the fact that the relationship between the FL and ML was extremely uncomfortable and triggering.

The male lead is way too toxic and the protagonist honestly deserve better. I patiently waited - chapter after chapter - to see if the male lead will improve his character in some way or another, yet each chapter continued to disappoint me. I understand... more>> that is the author's decision to create drama and further develop the story, but it isn't exactly my cup of tea.

Just to inform you, don't read this story if you get triggered like me with a FL being played by or lied upon by the ML. Relationships need communication, and I hate it when that fails to happen for extended durations of time like in this novel. <<less

I love the female lead... she's cold and indifferent due to her past experiences but always "unintentionally" helping some characters. She's powerful but do not act as the usual over-the-top Mary Sue character.

I also like her developments with ML.

On the plus side is that she got good relationship to the original heroine of the book. Unlike other light novels, the original heroine is kind-hearted friend and not portrayed as white lotus who had evil schemes.

I really love the concept of this story. It can be really confusing at times, and I'm kinda having a hard time accepting the whole "they touch and feel complete" kind of thing, but that's really my only gripe with this story so far.

All I can say it's interesting. Well, I hope to read the remainder of the novel, it's very hard to stalk the raw version hahahah

And I loved this kind of genre. As for the translation itself, I can understand well. And it's clear for me who is who, well maybe since I read some webtoon as well, kinda familiar with it.

If interested in otome game/isekai/transmigration novel well, can try this one.

This story is still new so there isn't much I could say. But for now, I would say that it's quite interesting as the romance is between a villain and a side character. I can't wait for the meeting between MC and ml.

The only downside about this novel is that the story seem to be jumble up between different characters perspective and I always wonder who is currently talking? Is it the MC or the ML or whatever stranger talking or a third person perspective. Very confusing af.

Translator did an excellent job, definitely one of the better translations I've read! Plot hooked me, ML is a total yandere which is nice, and I liked the FL despite her standoffish personality. She is competent, which is always a nice trait in an FL.

Howeveeeeer having finished it I was disappointed to find not all the plot threads were wrapped up. Some things are just never explained which was a bit frustrating, and towards the end it was all plot and no fluff which was also a shame. Don't regret... more>> reading it, it was good, but the author didn't really stick the landing unfortunately. <<less

The story feels incomplete... It was an okay read but not something I couldn't put down.

One annoying thing is the way author chooses to lengthen the story by delaying discovery of key information... while leaving sh*t unsolved by the end of the book just because (seems like the author doesn't even understand the universe she created) ?

For example (this is not a real scenario in the book but just so you know what kind of delay the author deployed) : FL was looking for a person with unique eye color... more>> that is a key to her and her friend's survival. She spent 1/4th of the book looking for that said person. THEN FINALLY she thinks she saw that a person with that eye color walked passed her... but does she spend the next minute going to confirm if she saw correctly? No!!! She thought no time gotta go do groceries right now I'm out of tomatos! Seriously.... Like seriously, SO many key information that the characters in the story noticed but never followed through just because of some s*upid mundane reason. <<less

This story is just wonderful and I would like to say that I am in love with Yuri, Siren, Odin and Genos and if any of them are interested in marriage just call me.
I want to explain here at the beginning that I gave 4 stars because we didn't have the marriage, nor some final explanations or the development of possible secondary couples, which brings me revolt and sadness at the same time that I remember all the good things about the story...... I think I'm going crazy hahaha

MC... more>> has a subtle kindness, great intelligence and great strength in my opinion. ML can be very sweet to her, but he's still a villain, which makes me laugh. I love their relationship, and how it starts off lightly and then when we see it, the two of them are completely in love with each other and want to protect each other but not get too involved in each other's business.

I found myself loving the minor characters without even realizing it, especially my little fairy Annemaire <3
If you like a couple who are naturally cold on the outside and warm to each other, a story full of twists, funny side characters with a little to add, plus a strong MC... I think this story is worth it In my humble opinion. <<less

Okay. Translator is good. This is for you if you want a romance focussed solo on the ML and MC, with lots of fluff. Good if you're in the mood for it, if not it will annoy you.

The MC and ML are very op, however this doesn't bother me because there is not great action or villain and so it doesn't bore you.

The plot makes no sense, and the beginning is. Really hard to get through. The MC's backstory is less cringe than I thought it would be, however her... more>> apathy throughout the story is not well written and can get annoying. I generally prefer apathetic characters, however it is clear that the author does not know any person who is actually apathetic. <<less

I really enjoyed this.

I picked it up because I've been interested in manhwa lately, and the manhwa accompanying this story is only a promo. I didn't expect a whole lot from it, honestly, but it surprised me. The characters were fantastic, and the plot was compelling all the way through.

The romance didn't go as far as I would have liked, but it was nice.

In the beginning, I really have no great expectation for this novel. I thought this novel would be no different from other transmigration novel (with the exception of X Men and Spiderman vibe all over) but after some confusing parts in the first few chapters, I somehow fell in love with this story.

MC is definitely a major highlight in this story. She didn't follow a general transmigration rule such as sticking to the original story as much as possible and avoiding all the original characters at all cost to avoid... more>> problem. She has a carefree and open-minded nature unlike many MC in other transmigration novels. She didn't care much about the original plot and even befriended with other characters such as the heroine (AnneMarie), the male leads (Kalian, Damon, Genos), and even the villain (Lakis).

She initially wanted to bring the heavily injured Lakis to AnneMarie like in the original plot but knowing that it would bring AnneMarie a misfortune in the future, MC decided to not let them meet and treated Lakis herself. After mingling with Lakis for some times, MC found that he was so different from what the original plot mentioned.

Spoiler

From what MC has read, Lakis was so cold to AnneMarie even after she treated his injury diligently. He didn't even want to tell his real name. But on the other hand, he was also obsessed with AnneMarie and didn't want others to covet her. I don't think that's love though. I think Lakis was only obsessed with AnneMarie's power of healing because it gave him benefit.

As for with MC, he treated her with pure interest. Maybe the soothing effect when they touched each other also played a part with their romance development.

[collapse]

The other characters in this story are also very interesting. AnneMarie is a typical heroine in romance novel with angel-like nature and beautiful appearance. At first, I think she will be a white lotus character but apparently, she's not. She even became MC's best friend. And even though she was pure and kind, she didn't have a weak personality and was very loyal to her friends.

Kalian, Genos, and Damon were supposed to fall in love with AnneMarie with Kalian as a victor but in the end, they didn't because of MC.

Spoiler

I don't think they fell in love with MC either though but it also couldn't count as obsession. What made them got interested in MC in the first place was because of her appearance. Her face was similar to Kalian's aunt, Selena.

Kalian saw the resemblance and felt complicated because of it. Genos was initially Selena's bodyguard but he failed to protect her and in the end, she died. He saw the shadow of Selena in MC and couldn't help but to visit her from time to time under the guise. Damon's motive to approach MC was more complex. He wanted to use MC to be a spy in the Crawford family (Kalian's family) so he could get their weakness. But in the end, he began to care about MC for real and cancelled his original plan.

[collapse]

I really would love to give this story a 5 stars but I'm a bit disappointed with the ending.

Spoiler
    • Where is MC and Lakis's wedding? I really want to read it. Unfortunately, the story ended even before Lakis properly proposed to MC.
    • There is no closure with many other characters such as Kalian, Bastian (Kalian's grandpa who also treated MC like a daughter), Genos, Damon, AnneMarie, Hestia, Siren, and Leo. The ending only mentioned Odin but the others were practically gone MIA after MC came to the West.
    • The mystery why MC's face changed to be similar to Selena was still unsolved. It seems that Selena's death wasn't so simple. I guess she was also one of the victim of the ruin's absorption and the very same ruin was injected to MC's body. That's why MC had Selena's trait.
    • What is the origin of the bug inside Lakis's head?
    • Why is MC immune to other mutant's mind power?
    • Why does touching each other have such effect on both MC and Lakis?
    • I'm not satisfied with Dominic (Kalian's father) 's punishment. He killed so many people for experiment (and one of the victim possibly his own sister) but he only got punished with life imprisonment in one of the luxury room in the Crawford mansion.
