Typical bait and switch, only the switch is done in the very first chapter. The title may make one think that this is a story about overcoming hardship, but instead the supposed missing Gift is delivered immediately and turns out to be a one-of-a-kind gift that is better than any other. Delivered in person by goddesses for no discernible reason. So more like "Can I become an adventurer with op powers that break the rules everyone else is bound with?" Spoiler, the answer is yes. Dropped.

Let's be real here most of us reading these novels are doing so from an escapism mindset myself included, where has I can't really give an accurate review with so few chapters I can see where it's going to an extent. Personally I just enjoy these types of novels. Just like I enjoyed everyone else is a returnee or infinite competitive dungeon society, and why I'm still reading stuff like maou ni natta, arifureta and garbage brave. This isnt some standard shounen where in the MC is about has useful... more>> in a fight has villager A till he suddenly confidently awakens some OP power half way through but a fantasy tale where in we can if only got a short while have an outlet to leave the boring real world behind. Take it for what it is and enjoy it or not, its up to you. <<less

Ladies and getlemen, this is "Boku no Hero Academia: The Novel". And just like Hero Academia, it fails miserably at everything it tries. If you liked Hero Academia, read this, if you actually have taste, please don't.

If you want something where the MC takes a while to gain SOME power, this isn't for you. It's typical but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Personally I enjoy this genre and I'm enjoying this I've so far. This one leans more towards Seinen rather than Shounen, which I appreciate.

well, yes the trans group is ok but not great with translating, that said, its semi worth it to mtl and read ahead, the author isnt as bad as people say, ... more>>
Spoiler

author was trying to go a different direction, he does have a gift but its difficult to awaken, then gets super strong, finds companions in similar situations, helps them, gets stronger, etc, I think the author spent too much focus on adventurer type troupe, overall balance isnt great and took way to long reveal who saved him as a kid, background, and how that ss? Ranked adventurer also had a considered failed skill but was taught by someone similiar and helped out to become op, still feels rushed in the end and dont know what the author is writing another volume for

, well its iffy harem route but author seems stick with just one or two at most and not go down the typical easy op save girls then they join which is good, its worth mtling if u have free time since it is somewhat unique type of writing which is/was getting more popular, <<less

The translation quality isn't that good, while it is readable it needs an editor to clean it up. I don't think the translator is a native English speaker since he uses the wrong version of words at times (Don't instead of doesn't, ext) but overall it's still readable.

The story itself is badly written, the main character is used as bait against a monster and then he awakens due to that experience but when he goes back to the guild one week later the guild gave his stuff to the people... more>> who used him as bait, instead of explaining what happened he just accepts it without retaliating at all. After that part it goes to the main character fighting an A rank (2nd strongest rank) and he ends up being able to overwhelm the A rank. With the test it just shows that there will be no real strength development since the "2nd strongest" doesn't have enough experience to deal with the MC who just awoke to their power and is at level 1... overall the story just feels like an author who isn't very good at writing and its just badly following tropes. If the character at least retaliated against the people who tried to kill him then this could count as a "op character does whatever they want" type of book but a passive op MC is just not fun to read about... Especially when there is no character development and everything feels forced without having any flow. I don't honestly understand why people gave this book 5 stars, 2 or 3 I could see depending on if they like this kind of story but I don't really see why this would be given 5 stars. <<less
