I finished all 9 translated chapters. Characters are cute, story is unique, and translation is great. So of course, I looked up the raws to mtl. My only complaint is WHY ARE THERE OVER A 1000+ CHAPTERS FOR A CUTESY BOOK LIKE THIS!

I'm now on chapter 234. So far still good. Plenty of chapters which contains moments where I don't know whether I should laugh or cry. Hello! it's the translator here (mocchino), now I'm going to be a bit biased since I am translating this novel lmao, though I will be honest with the negative things I feel about this novel.

Anyways, I reallyyy love the premise of the novel, yes, it is VERY slow paced, not too slow though, as it is an age progression novel. We start of with our protagonist who is 3-4 years old, I don't really remember, but the story will progress as she moves into a new neighborhood where she meets... more>> our ML Cheng Zhiyan who is 10 years-old. Yes, their age gap is quite big, but do remember they knew each other since little, and I don't really mind age gaps since my parents have a 8 year age gap... OK TMI.

Soon from there, the story of our MC and ML begins, with lots of tear-jerking scenes, or goofy comedic moments, and lots of fluffy romance. The story has it all...

Though, the plot is slow, could get a bit draggy, a few scenes were quite boring, and not to mention there are over more than 1000+ chapters, I still enjoyed watching our MC grow and their love bloom. Please give this novel a shot, you won't regret it! It is also a fluffy overload <3 <<less

I really recommend reading this novel to all romance and slice of life fans. Although it's translation isn't worth mentioning, as it is this short, the story is.

First of all for all those reclutant using Google Translation/MTL:

You don't need to be concerned about this aspect. I've read at least 2000 chapters of various stories using Google Translation and I've noticed the result of MTL differs greatly according to the writing stile of the author. For some stories you need only 5-10 minutes to get accostumed to the slightly off grammar,... more>> for other I had a splitting headache for two weeks afterwards. And this novel is one of the former, to be precise this novel is the easiest to read using MTL I've ever encountered. So don't worry.

As for other the story itself.

The greatest requirement for this story is patience, at least if you wish to endulge in romance. This second scene of the synopsis happens only nearing chapter 300. This novel promises romance from the very beginning and doesn't fail to deliver it, but this second scene in the synopsis is part of a turning point, a turning point from a slice of life novel with slight romance to a romance novel with slice of life elements with. The romance aspect has not stopped growing slowly stronger even as of chapter 534.

This novel depicts them both and others around them growing older. Their feelings for each other grow, slowly but surely with time and they get closer and closer.

Technical Aspects:

This story has very short chapters which get slightly longer over time. This novel can be devided in multiple story arcs, each clearly devided. Every arc is devided by a time skip. Both the female and male lead have a certain age, like 3 and 10 at the beginning and they experience a couple of things in this arc. Then a time skip of multiple months or a year (at most two years) happens and a new arc begins. Each arc is definitely longer than the first, as the author can use more intense romance scenes appropriate for their age.

So don't worry and enjoy this story! For those concerned about the intensity of this romance novel, worried this novel may stop after they become lovers or marriage, like in many anime:

Don't worry about this. I am sure their marriage is shown in this novel and am pretty sure this novel depicts their married life, I myself am however unsure if this novel contains them rasing their children.

As such I wish fellow romance fans the best of enjoyment reading this novel. :)

Warning: I have written the following edit in a state of emotional turmoil, which lead me to the decision of taking a break from this story for between a week and a month. It contains personal rants which were my attempts at letting off steam.

Edit: As of chapter 690 I have detected the first sign of decreasing quality. It seems the author ran out of good ideas for the first and hopefully last time. Those few chapters are focused on Cheng Zhiyan's niece and her boyfriend. While they are constantly part of the main cast, once they appear, their scenes were nice romance scenes until now. However their scenes can now be criticized objectively speaking and subjectively speaking. I have personally skipped chapters for the first time in this novel.

Objectively speaking: Their scenes until now weren't too short, but neither too long, giving us a picture of their blossoming love without drawing too much attention from our main couple. Now however they overshadow our main couple completely and the author changes our main characters personality suddenly.

Xiao Tu doesn't act like a 18 year old, instead like an auntie who has weathered many storms in live, while she was shy and romantically inexperienced just 5 chapters before. I suspect chinese views about romance at work, which leads me to suspect chinese people aren't humans at all, as I can understand korean, japanese and other countries' views of human relations just fine.

Cheng Zhiyan has been mainly degraded too, being background, as if he ceases to exist most of the time.

Subjectively speaking: Having read so much from the perspective of our main couple, I have developed the complex feeling of being them both; like in many stories with equally important main characters. It is hard to describe.

So, reading this story from their perspective, I wasn't happy at all reading about their nieces/nieces-in-law flirting just a few steps below s*x, as you may imagine. I don't have such desires. Reading this I somehow felt like a disgusting pe*vert watching a couple.

To put it bluntly:

Chapter 1 until 685- 5 stars

Chapter 685 until ? 3 stars

I once again want to apologize for my emotional rant. I needed to write this to calm down my agitated emotions. This edit only represents my personal opinion, however I am confident my anger isn't without reason. As such I will take my time to cool down my emotions and will write down futher changes in quality in this review, once I resume reading. <<less

This story really good. There are 1000+ chapters, but each chapter is short, so it only took me 3 days to finish it.

The FL and ML had 7 years gap. I really like their interaction, especialy when FL still in kindergarden, fool but it made her cute.

As for ML, I can't help agreeing that he is really beast for dating and kissing 12 years old midleschool when he was acollege freshman.

... more>> There are not much drama between FL and ML, but it does have between the side character.

I hope there will be sequel for this story. The last chapter made want to read more about the little daughter. <<less

Wow, this is good. I don't usually like to MTL stories that reach 1000+ chapters, but I can't help it. Anyway, the chapters are short, I think 5 chapters of this book equals to 1 chapter of ordinary book, so you don't have to worry about hurting your eyes lol.

turns out the black bellied one is the ML... I thought it'll be MC since she seems like a shameless one. I should've known since when he suggested to give all the gifts MC received from the boys in her class to her mother. Stinky boy.

MC is actually naive and really dense but shamelessly straightforward. There's scene when the ML got jealous but she couldn't take the hint at all, resulting in ML giving her cold shoulder all day. In the end, she ask her friend and after understand the situation better, she didn't waste time and goes straight to confront it to ML. You could she that although she's super dense, she could still balance the relationship with her straightforwardness

For the ML... I was really tricked. He's reaaaaalllyyyy super gentle and doting when it comes to our MC, I almost believe that he's really the gentle type... but after a while you'll find out that behind that gently smiley mask, this kid is actually quite cunning. it's a bit frightening. There's scene where he actually tricked his parent to bring his little wife to meet him at college because he's forbidden to go out. This kind of lying while smiling innocently...

Anyway, his deeds are written in a very subtle way, I don't know if it's just me but I found out his true face after later chapters.

It's a cute story about childhood sweethearts. After some chapters, you could see the character and relationship develeopment from they were young.

Aside frome the romance, this story contain mainly comedy, but there are some tear-jerkers as well and it's nicely written it actually stir my emotion.

There's still many chapters to go but I think the premise is good (i skipped to some chapters ahead and it actually still quite good) so I guess i'll keep going.

If you want a sweet, cute, and fresh love story with a slow development, I suggest you read this book. <<less

I finished this novel (MTL) in two days, pheww but so worth it! Love, love and much love! If you're in a mood for following innocent romance than go for it. But beware, they had 7 years gap and anyone who uncomfortable with underage romance should stay away from this. For me? I laugh, blushing, smile, moved and even crying while reading this.

I understand this is supposed to be slice of life, but every few chapters is a scene of how they are making out, especially after they grew up. And the author goes on to describe this in 10 chapters, 10 chapters just for this, I'm like just done with it, I almost gave up but I was like since I have stuck around so long might as well finish this story.
