The nice thing for this novel was about MC and system, then MC and the disciples, except for the senior disciple. I got bored.

It was fun reading at 1st, but after the upper realm. It was getting boring and make things complected and ruining the story. There's no excitement, looking forward next, but it's basic.

Especially the night emperor and empress story.

Complecated story for MC, Soul Empress and the Senior disciple.

Good novel about MC who was crossing realm with system but somewhat differ from other novels this genre.

There are 2 systems. One to assign the task and calculate the reward. The other is the buddy & online help. The most funny of this novel is the bonding between the MC and this unique buddy system and their journey to the west final goal.

No review as many had already done it. Just recommend that the good novel to read. Funny and humor. Most named characters have own characteristic, especially the sect's... more>> disciples. MC has it too. Most villains also have a bit too, although not much, else they are MC instead !

The interesting of this novel is - the plot developments are shared 50-50 between MC and his disciples. In some arc, some disciples are almost MC instead !

The lovely aspect of this novel - it's NOT harem. In fact, MC is labeled with "Low EQ" from the start. There's no love scene nor romance, but the scent of it is so thick that most readers may curse the author for NOT create the harem. The love between MC and his First Disciple is so butter sweet and so cruel that served 1000 cursings !

On caveat. As the disciples also have role, important role, so much names and characters need reader's attention. <<less

This is a really good novel.

the focus is always on the sect development and the focus doesn't shift away. the comedic parts of the novel is also still present unlike many other novels that start out funny but later becomes boring and bland.

there is no harem but there are multiple girls who have shown interest in him.

besides the eldest disciple who has always been portrayed as the main love interest, there is also another sect master who has shown interest in the MC yet the MC doesn't seem to recognize... more>> it but she does have a soft spot in his heart.

then he also currently has a wife who forced herself onto him (no r*pe or sex) and is somewhat acknowledged by everyone as the MC's wife.

there are also several disciples who are the tropes/templates that you'd find in other novels such as a transmigrated person, a reincarnated person, someone who escaped from a higher world... ect... ect

it's not a parody <<less

Very recommend!

Actually, the system ain't so overpowered but it's extremely useful system and unexpectedly the source of the goods within system came from stealing from other people in higher plane/realm/cultivator. In short, this system is a professional thief haha and people who got stolen were swindled by MC and ended up joining the sect.

The comedy itself very funny either it MC X system, MC X disciples, MC X enemy. As for romance, so far he only have a wife and there's no clue that will be another woman enter his... more>> life since he's pretty dense guy.

The plots also good, he recruited a lot disciples and make them powerful, their talent also rank up, everything thanks to the resources he brought from the system mall. Of course, everything has a price as the MC can get anything from the mall system, he also need to hard work to manage sect properly and power up the sect's overall power.

This MC is difference from other MC who created an organization/sect and then left the sect as he wish in order to power up himself and let the disciples or elders manage sect alone. As he is a bit dumb sometimes but he is very responsible sect master and system act not only as provider but also advisor and a friend to the MC.

As for enemy, I sometimes fells so sorry toward the enemies because they always got blackmailed by MC whenever they offended him or sect's disciple.

The only thing I bothered up about this novel is the MC overly protective and heavily affectionate person towards everything related to him. It's not wrong but somewhat a bit cringe to me, maybe because of my references, don't mind it guys :D

Overall this novel highly recommend for everyone who like sect-management types of novel. <<less

Highly recommended.

Mainly that there is no harem, implications exist but due to the MC mindset as a dunce to his own romantic affairs. Definitely a good novel for those who do not like stories that drag with damsels in constant distress and lustful writing.

He gets broiled up in a marriage after hitting 1000 chapters. Don't expect any disciple-love relationship type of nonsense when he looks at them as all his baby children. (Even though they are not that much younger than him.

The system he carries can be said the Straightman of the comedic duo with the MC. Always pointing out his jokes, crushing his daydreams and literally breaking the 4th wall with the author when the MC gets in over his head.

If I had to say, its like Gintama with the MC being Gintoki and the system being an extreme version of Shinpachi. Comedy is gold. <<less

I'm not leaving a rating yet as I just want to put this somewhere after skimming ahead of certain chapters.

I got really bored around c922 when the plot slowly turns to something else.

From becoming best sect, fighting all the powers in the land, it went to him fighting other existence outside of their dimension. And when I said "fighting other existence outside" I don't mean like upper realm and lower realm, they literally fight others in a space that summons all warriors of different lower realm universe... Or maybe I'm understanding the geography wrong, regardless-

This for me was the first nail. Its poor execution had only made it worse. Had they use this as a way to slowly explain about the system then I might like it? But so far from my skimming, I see 0 mention of the system's origin. And like if you're going to go about how the system items are given to MC after he purchase, talks about higher realm, lower realm and give a replica of the system use in public, you better at least provide us a hint as too the origin of the system and why no one can sense it.

But hey, perhaps it was explain and I just didn't see it. So my interest to read further got intensify. However all my interest disappeared upon skimming the end parts and realizing whose the FL that MC is ending up with.

Bruh, ok I can understand if he didn't end up with any of the disciples considering that he might see them as his own child BUT FOR IT TO BE REPLACE BY A FORCEFUL ROMANCE IS NO DIFFERENT. You are telling me the eldest disciple lose to someone who the MC had no choice but to mary to easily accomplish a task? EVEN THE SECT MASTER LOVE INTEREST IS WAY BETTER WTFFF.

Their romance felt so forceful that I could easily believe you if you told me the writer did that to avoid the sect master x eldest disciple end (as it's like teacher and student).

I swear the saying "romance ruin a story" is so true but it's not because romance as a genre sucks but that the writer, usually one that tends to do action stories sucks at this genre.

From where I am, any of the love interest MC has, particularly Sect master, eldest disciple and heck even the lil' chef is way more developed than the one who he ended up with. Now could MC and FL relationship later on perhaps develop to something more meaningful as the three (sect master, eldest disciple and lil chef) I mention? Perhaps. But it honestly leave a bitter taste to think that the one that started as a business interest won against the one who had been there since beginning of time.

None of them would have notice him if he didn't become successful. And it feels even worse to see the ending of the one who had been there since the beginning. They could have at least give her own happiness beyond cultivation but noo, let her be devoid of emotion while the rest be happy.

Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie Scott. Elon Musk and Justine Wilson. Now this. I guess the FL gets the flowers while the eldest disciple suffer.

Honestly, a part of me hopes that I haven't read certain parts and thus getting the wrong conclusions. But if it is what I truly think will happen. :<

Because of that, I hate the gardener elder and the jokes regarding his numerous love experiences. Poor ladies that died in vain and wasted their youth on such a jerk.

Men, if you can't take the consequences then don't give expectation. If the MC really sees himself as the father or the "teacher" then he should, as the adult, set the boundaries to avoid such mishap. There's no "ignorance" excuse. If you did such then immediately correct it.

I'm sorry for the long rat, I had to let it out somewhere.

TL;DR: I don't like the coming up arcs and the romance. <<less

Very fun read up until chapter 1100ish.

The arcs are formulaic and face-slapping is repetitive (typical Xianxia system novel) but most of it is well-done. Humor is nice and there is some character development.

Romance is a weak point, which could be ignored until the MC goes to Soul Realm (~C1100) - then it’s just awkward and too much filler. I gave up.

The protagonist is a scumbag. As long as you read the story lightly, it's a laughter gold mine. Not to mention the author's playful way of using cliches, the author also constantly uses the 4th wall to give the scenes their unique flare. That said, the protagonist is a scumbag. It only got worse during the second half of the novel.

After ascending, he offends a number of sects then pins all the blame to a senior who offered him help when he goes to the upper realm. Without other options, the senior offers him help to avoid the trouble temporarily. Later on, the senior gets hunted down and captured as the protag scapegoat. Here comes the clincher, the protag, now stronger, coerces the senior into joining his sect by threatening not to help him if he doesn't join. The author is fond of justifying the protag's actions though.

No, don't read this novel. I can't believe I wasted my time reading it. It was a fun read for a few hundred chapters as it combines element of kingdom building and character recruitment that I like. From there, the quality just keep deteriorating and I pushed on reading just to know how the story ends.

Result. The worst ending I have ever seen. An ending that makes me think the author just write to spite the readers which I assume complain a lot given how the author likes to write... more>> how the MC's action is justifiably good in the novel itself. I would be satisfied if it is just a normal one but the author just have to blatantly deus ex machina the consequence. Leave a bad taste and ruin the whole novel.

If you want to read this novel, I would recommend stopping after the successful ascension to the second realm as from there, the plot os just a rehash from the first one. <<less

When the part about traveling to other realms begins, starting with the Realm of Souls, everything becomes more forced.

After going to the Upper world loses all the fun, I tried to continue reading for the conclusion of the Emperor of the Night storyline, but I got tired and jumped to 1670 it was more of an unsatisfactory conclusion.

System breaks in Upper Realm, need millions of points to buy each thing, so the author stops counting the amount of points. Update does not need contribution, they are limited per month.

Things that have always been misused:

Hired Beasts, Always unsatisfying from the start, Boar, Lightning Tiger, Ice Lion disappear, Then the Boar appears after a long time while the others are still missing. In the Upper realm the author tried to renew the pets configuration, but then they disappeared again hahaha

The pavilion to add elemental spirits to weapons and other equipment.

The pavilion of talismans, when it appeared, I found it extremely broken, so there the author realized it too and started to pretend it didn't exist either. Increase 2x/5x/10x strength/speed/defense? Very s*upid if it was only 5%~30% it was still ok.

[collapse]

All the disciples' conclusions are half-baked or extremely anticlimactic.

The author tried to put all possible settings and ended up failing in most, all the clichés were not delivered well.

Recommended only for those who have nothing else to read, and I recommend that you stop at the chapter where he completes the 1st main quest. There are some things left open but it is better to suffer so far alone, because the suffering only increases. <<less

But After the sect ascended, the quality of the story dropped by a lot, IMO. I also don't like the fact that the MC acknowledge masters, even though he did that for the sake of connections since it is pretty hard for the sect to flourish in the upper realm without connections, it is still not my cup of tea. Because having system is enough, it can guarantee that he will surpass those masters of his. Also, he managed to make the sect in lower realm the strongest without acknowledging any masters. I just don't like it because some of the things he will do in the future might be credited to his masters. Well, the main things that makes me rate this 3/5 is because after he ascended with his sect, it is just like the time when he was in lower realm but this time clichés are everywhere and sometimes there will just be loop that is waste of chapter. Like conflict with other stronger sect -> defeat them and/or rob -> enemies go to MC's sect -> he beat them -> repeat. Well this is pretty common since this is a way for them to develop their sect but more of this really makes the series bland.

[collapse]

Overall, it is a good read but just like the other series, there will be good and bad things that will happen to the quality of the story <<less
