A good interesting unique story to engage with. Some cliches and repetitiveness, but a fun interesting novel. Then around C120ish and after, the story quickly steamrolls, snowballs into an other poop fest of writing with all creativity or anything which made me read was thrown out the window. Repeats, cliches, filler, and probably also more filler ruined the whole novel. Like half of the book previously written waa all of a sudden thrown out, the logic going with it, and enemies all of a sudden became more s*upid than they... more>> already were. <<less

This is my first time writing a review

In my opinion, this is one of the best book that I have ever read. It is about a MC who travelled to past and want to change the fate of humanity.

Although the MC is a little arrogant, he is very intelligent.

... more>> There are game element, cultivation, system, Xianxia, Apocalypse, Etc...

Read it!! You won´t regret it.

It is a lot better than the generic riffraff that are most Chinese novels. Those are plain and mediocre with the same ideas being constantly rehashed. This story has extremely good pacing, making you never feel bored and there are many suprising plot twists. It's hard to believe that this is the author's first novel. The translator is also releasing chapters at a faster speed than Wuxiaworld.

The only cons I can say is that the world building tends to be a little weak and that there are quite a few... more>> ranks to remember for each specification. Like reality world has 4 or so fighting classes which are further subdivided into ranks and then you have the apocalypse world where it has its own cultivation ranking. Then devils have ranks/levels to remember. Items such as armours have ranks to remember too. It can be quite confusing at times but all chinese cultivation novels have this con too so it's not major.

This novel I highly recommend though. It is one of the best apocalyptic novels based on the current English translated novels. <<less

Worlds' Apocalypse Online may be one of the greatest, goofiest, goriest, most amazing Webnovels I've ever read, that really just encapsulates just what type of product the unhinged creativity of a skilled Author freed from the constraints of publishing or editing can really do.

Decent Translation aside, reading this book is like taking Crack. Constant ups and no downs, a never ending rollercoaster of plot twists, balanced with little moments interspersed between chapters of banter and chapters of long built up reveals that really just makes your hair curl trying to... more>> keep going.

I must admit that the first few chapters are exceedingly generic - barely held together by its Sci-Fi premise and intricate world building, along with a collection of characters brought to life by the Author's skill in creating believable, even if not realistic characters right alongside the stock card carrying arrogant young masters. But as you read further, things just keep spiraling off from there, and it's almost like the Author had a vague idea of exactly what he wanted to write for the rest of the novel, but had way to much fun injecting his ideas and expanding on them as he did.

I see all this slander about how the book is tr*sh without having even finished 100 chapters of it, but the haters are simply too used to top tier novels like LOTM or RI. Lots of the book contains what I believe to be ironic depictions of other novel characters and arrogant young masters, and even the main character feels like a wry critique on the classic Psychopathic CN MC. But I'm digging to deep a hole here.

In essence, while not exactly a paragon of classic literature, WAO is a literary masterpiece in its own right, by sheer virtue of its demented plotline, edgy badassery, delicate and well thought out scene buildup, raw emotion evoking, and legitimate character development and growth, not only for the Main Character, but the side characters, and even villains as well.

It's made clear in the first few chapters just how unique WAO is, and yet it fnds that delicate balance between "Fast Food Novel", and "Worthy Masterpiece", toeing the line with amazingly fleshed out characters. It's truly hard to describe, but the novel is absolutely worth a read, and absolutely worth the first few slogged out chapters, because believe me when I say that although the Author clearly has no idea what he's doing in the first few dozen chapters, as soon as he gets in the pace, he doesn't stop.

I think the thing that really stood out to me most was the characterization and development - it's what really makes me praise this novel so much - At first, you take a look at characters like SXE, or Anna, or even the MC GQS and you start thinking "Oh, its just another one of those cardboard cutouts... sword idiot, jade beauty, etc", but NO!

Each and every character really has a depth to them, and the author himself seems to really become attached to each and every single one of them, finding ways to flesh them out and make them far more than they first appear..

Even the most boring, 1-D excuse of a character I heavily disliked went through some extreme charcter growth (very quickly, I must say), and evolved into one of my favorite Yanderes ever!

*SPOILER ALERT*

I just simply love, LOVE, how Su Xue Er went from cringing damsel in distress, classic naive jade beauty rich kid who only knows how to look pretty, be nice to a naieve degree, and ask the MC for headpats - to actually being influenced by the MC's decisiveness and ruthlessness, and combining with her own aristocratic arrogance and inborn talent for manipulating people to become a really scary character. You practically watch yourself how this random character the Author expands on gains so much more flesh and detail and see as not only does she go from "can't tell a lie", "gives to the poor unconditionally", "easily manipulated political pawn", to one of the most clearheaded, manipulative, and objectively speaking, neutral evil characters the book has.

*END SPOILER*

In fact, its one of the main reasons why I rate this so high despite my usual distaste for Harem Novels - all the women actually have lives of their own, personalities that clash and interact with each other, and don't simply revolve around the MC. Sure, he's important to them, sure romance is a small part of the novel, usually played for gags - but they have worries, doubts, fears, hobbies, etc outside of the MC, and don't simply just revolve around him, like jewels for the MC to decorate himself with like in other novels.

The novel isn't perfect. Not by any means. You can tell that the Author still has some flaws in his writing style, and sometimes relies too heavily on anime logic and interactions to try and fake a realistic scenario - but the goal of the book never was to depict a realistic story - it's a story of believable characters (mostly), in a world that's gone to shit, in a universe that's equally gone to shit, in a multiverse that's gone to even more shit, and everything's just in this constant wacky flux in an absolute torrent of plot twists and lore. Honestly, it kind of makes me feel like I'm watching a fairly normal DND campaign with a normal premise get absolutely bodied as the players keep coming up with increasingly absurd things to modify the world, and the DM is a spiteful piece of crap who notes everything they say down, in order to deal with them later...

I simply can't praise the novel enough, and really feel that one should at least read till the 200's, just like LOTM, to really get a sense for how amazing this novel can be... I can't recommend it enough! <<less

A very interesting novel. The MC has a system which is not overly overpowered and his strength scales according to the stories progression such that he is always weaker than his enemies. This makes for some very unique mind-games and schemes that allow the MC to eliminate enemies that are consistently stronger than he is. This is a novel with moments that have made my heart race, as it genuinely feels like the MC is in mortal danger despite knowing in the back of my mind that he will survive.... more>> The antagonists are sometimes shallow, but the author gives a reason for their arrogant behaviour which gave me some things to think about regarding human psychology. There are some life lessons hidden in this novel that I have come to appreciate as well. If you want a novel where the MC is extremely overpowered and beats up young masters in restaurants this is not for you, the MC uses his big brain and strategy to win instead.

There are a few irritating aspects of this novel however, one of which is that the different systems of power are mind-boggling. There are endless different powers the characters use, cultivation, unique abilities, martial arts and elements. The unique ability system is one of which doesn't make much sense. Some use decks of cards much like yu-gi-oh to fight,
Spoiler

There was even one moment when a card-user combined cards to summon exodia the forbidden one, jk but they really did summon a demon that way

[collapse]
but their physical bodies are not trained. A cultivator supposedly has an increased reaction time, speed and a strong body but still somehow find it hard to compete with these cringy card-wielders. The novel is a harem and while I appreciate that it doesn't focus on the girls too much, it goes to the extreme and the MC might not meet a single harem member for hundreds of chapters. The personalities of the girls are alright I guess, they add a bit of comedy to this story every once in a while, but I personally don't find them important to the story, with or without them it wouldn't make a difference to me. <<less

Novel is best, technology is good, Side-Character good, villian also great. Only MC is shit, dumb, idiot.

  1. Technology is also great because it show Impartial Goddess make the mache evolved who killed Apocalypse. Goes in time.
  2. Cultivation is also good, which soar to become powerful.
  3. Side-Character is also good which evolved and become powerful.
Harem is bad, till now MC is virg*n, many girl show him affection, but he become a dumb. Girl gave her life for saving him, but he not gives a little bit attraction, only behaves like her friends. Like if... more>> any of his friend asked him to mate with the girls, he not shows any little bit problem, and help them. Then what benefits of saving the world, if you not have any of your descendant.

Every side girls character is good but they need to choose good lover because MC is sh*t in love matter.

MC is big idiot, shit, dumb.

  1. He have not any naming sense, then how can he solve the scheme of villian.
  2. He want power but, when someone gave him power, then him don't need, that a total sh*t idea.
  3. He can goes in timeline and have tempering power, but always lost good chance, if you have chance to destroy the enemy then destroy it, if not then what benefits, it only look like seeing past history.
  4. He want Armour, gun, sword, but if someone gave him, then him not take, big p**sy, like a poor man get money for eating food by chance, but except using of money he donates it, because he not earn it.
  5. He have not any feeling of girls and friends, he like born a robot, who only doing his job of saving world by rules, if MC is a robot, then novel suit him.
  6. He is Underworld King, but only goes in Underworld to kill someone not to make Underworld working properly.
  7. He is Death God, but death is not in his hand, then what benefits of death god.
  8. And everyone in his eyes is scheming person, like if his GF call him for sleep with him, then he think his GF soul change by monster, or his GF is going to kill him. But he also has not any GF.

I love it. It's one of the most fun cultivation novels I have read.

I see some people that complains that the world building is to large but it's one of the series charms and if you can't enjoy it then you can stop reading it after the MC leaves the cultivation world.

I also see people that complain on that the MC sometimes barely cultivates in hundreds of chapters or that he stops using some skills after barley having used them. And to the first I just have to say that... more>> cultivation is much harder than it seems and there are beings that have been stuck in the same realm for millions of years. About the skills the MC stops using. They all just become useless to him and he therfore stops using them. He can't use hundreds of sword skills at the same time and it would cost too much qi even if he could.

The story almost never takes a break and continuously introduces new things. So if you don't like that just don't read Worlds apocalypse online. <<less

Definetely one of the best power lvl-up novels I have read. This novel has :

  • No bullsh*t harem.
  • No arrogant young masters.
  • "Genius" MC which actually seems like a genius for once, and not just author making everyone else ret*rded so 50 iq MC can seem smart. This MC really is very smart, like Fang Yuan from RI smart.
  • I cant think of any plot holes this story has so far. Anything that has been introduced has been revelant all along, and not forgotten after a few chapters. (With the exception of some skills which dont really matter to the story)
  • Well developed world-building
  • Well developed charachters. Not only MC but every important charachter has their own dinstict personality, as well as their own background.
Honestly, im surprised I hadnt found this novel until recently, definetely... more>> a gem that I would recommend to everyone.

The only reason I rate this 4 stars instead of 5, is because the MC literally gets no breathing room at all. Kind of like at lord of the mysteries but maybe even worse. He has to deal with sh*t and apocalypse level events constantly.

Sometimes its good to give the MC a break, so the readers can digest all the sh*t MC has accomplished, and so we can recharge our batterys and get ready for the next adventure.

Me when I first start reading this story: "ah this book will end around chapter 300 or so I bet" (this was one of my first CN so don't blame me ok?)

Me reading this now: "ok maybe in the next 2, 000 chapters the novel will finish"

Actual review: I honestly thought this was a good story until I realized that no matter how powerful our MC becomes, everybody else is already at that level or is even higher no matter how much time and effort he put in which... more>> doesn't make a lot of sense. And for me that made me feel like there hasn't been a progression in the story since everybody is already at that stage of his or is higher no feeling of completion.

Edit: And also the author made the setting where he can add in basically anything into the story, which could potentially continue the story until the author decides to stop writing more chapters. I'm not into books like this most of the time, which is why I don't read some CN because I like books that have endings not a book that never ends. <<less

I disagree with most reviewers. The first few hundred chapters, while cliche, are good. Unfortunately, the author made the protagonist and system far too overpowered at first. To compensate, the protagonist becomes less smart and more reliant on plot armor the further you read.

Additionally the sexism, while different from most cultivation novels, completely ruins the immersion. The 'harem' closely resembles typical japanese novels with zero actual romance and a passive virg*n protagonist. The only difference is that everyone deeply fears women and does whatever they say to avoid violence.

Great +. [Chi. Names] Definitely one of the reincarnation/back to before that manage to get its unique identity and stand out from the rest of its genre (what the author did to the world is what I've been looking for in this type of novel 'unforeseen butterfly effect', I won't say that the others don't have it but this one take it to another level which drew me in).

Unexpectedly Good based on its rough start/story telling. This Novel is a mix Cultivation and Mystic? Powers, quite unique to combine I... more>> would say. Lots of plot holes but the novel improves on its story telling as you read furtherIf you managed to digest all the slight slow bombardment and monotonous of information of the worlds novel on first 30 or so chapters then it starts to get lively as you read, mainly because you have a rough understanding of how the world as well as the improved translation/story telling.

Around 130+ chapters I've seen an significant improvement on world building and starts to get interesting and finally the military system have been introduced. Well at least I can guarantee anyone who reads this novel that this one Improves its world building as well as its translation and most of the plots earlier now make sense in later parts of the novel. <<less

First, I wanna say this novel definitely deserves all the hype. I didn’t have any expectations for this book, just saw it at the top of novel update rankings and decided to give it a go. And I have to say guys, I’m impressed. I’ve read my fair share of novels throughout the years, but this one takes the cake. Storyline, character development, etc etc everything about this novel is so well crafted. If you haven’t yet, I would seriously recommend you give this novel a try.

This novel has very solid chapters as at times I don't mind to wait for another. Chapters are full of action and pacing is considerably good

This novel is full of surprises. It often develops in unforeseen way

Novel updates won't let me change my star rating, so I'll just hide the review. Deadnovel bribed the translator, now its behind a paywall.

Dropped.

Spoiler

So, let's get some of the bad out of the way first: as the translator noted in their own review, the first 300 chapters or so are only a step or two above tr*sh. Aside from some world hopping between cultivation and science fiction, its nothing you can't find in just about every xuanhuan/apocalypse type novel. Its basically just background information for the actual story, and is forgivable only because A) its a first novel, and B) it does actually improve, unlike most first (and second, and third) novels. I'd say skip them, but they're not completely horrible, and the actual story probably won't make much sense if you just dive into the deep end.

Now the good. By the time the story is actually going somewhere, the author is pulling from just about every sub-genre: tech, mech, magic, cultivation, Yu-gi-oh, etc. While this is indeed a bit of a mess, it actually weaves together rather well, and is more fun than I expected. The MC has a cheat system but isn't overly OP, instead being relatively smart and progressing at a rapid but reasonable rate; while this is only my opinion, I certainly prefer this type of MC. There are a fair number 0f well developed side characters, and - so far at least - none of them have simply been abandoned for no discernible reason. I also find the underlying plot to be fairly engaging, rather than the stock ' find someone, turn them into an enemy, become stronger, kill enemy' cycle that tends to plague cultivation novels of any type.

Masterpiece, my new favorite cultivation novel. Lots of worldbuilding. Any small detail brought up by the author serves to escalate into the climax of each arc. Meaning that, compared to many other Chinese webnovels, there are very few retcons or plot holes to speak of. The hype in many of the fight scenes is exhilirating. The MC is constantly using his wits to overcome seemingly more dangerous situations each and every time. Every single one of his wins feel thoroughly earned.
It has a few points where it's not as... more>> good: perhaps delving into a boring side characters story which ruins the pacing, or the constant escalation of problem after problem without letting the MC rest in one of the arcs. At times, the author is constantly setting flaws, then takes way too long to revisit them; to the point that the sheer number of problems the MC is facing is exhausting even to the reader. Many of the villains in particular are quite formidable and cunning; to the point that it seems like every bigwig is some sort of super genius. The challenges faced by the MC never drop in quality, but the author was having problems at the start of the novel with knowing when to drop the tension.

Yes, technically, the protagonist is constantly fighting against the end of the world, such an epic ordeal can only be full of constant peril, but the lack of breaks or breathing space makes it almost impossible to enjoy whatever brilliant storytelling was just told. This was my main issue with my pacing in this story at times.
Thankfully, the author seemed to be improving much more on this aspect over time. His writing improves after every arc and has learned to give the readers some breathing space.

Overall, the novel is filled with enjoyable characters, action, comedic moments and even the occasional tear jerker. It's also brimming with creativity for a cultivation novel. This story is almost impossible to put down, I just had to read all 600 available chapters in one go. I hope the translator keeps translating more.

I recommend everyone give this web novel a try.
Edit: Over 500 chapters after my review (currently 1114) the author still manages to blow me away. <<less

This is one of my current top 5 best readings. Its so original, sometimes it makes me wonder how the author managed to come up with such universe, where all possible worlds existed together. I give my utmost respect to the author, as I cant imagine how many works must be done to keep track of all the time-leaping things and its infinite changes.

The first 197 chapters were so good, I literally didn't put the book down for two days (unless I had to adult) to read it. There were a few minor contractions and plot holes but overall were really good. I dropped it for a bit shortly afterwards due to a major inconsistency that totally broke the story for me.

However:

Once I gave it another shot I read non stop up to the current English translation. There were a few other highly annoying inconsistencies and plot holes, but with a little... more>> refinement this could easily be one of the greatest non fiction books I've ever read in my entire life.

Its almost perfect. I'm rating it 5 stars because I can't rate it 9/10, and the plot holes/ inconsistent logic aren't everywhere.

As a final comment, I don't think translation should have anything to do with a rating, but it's worth mentioning that a vast majority of this work is brilliantly translated, it does seem to be lacking a native English editor later on but not so bad that you can't understand it easily in most places. <<less

I do not understand all the low star reviews, these are onvioobvi made by people who didn't even take the time to even digest what was actually going on.

I read a one star review saying he should immediately have gone into seclusion and he picked a fight with a young master upon returning. Wtf? That isn't even remotely what happened and makes this seem like one of those tr*sh face slapping novels that are the scourge of my reading experience.

I put off reading this because of comments like that and... more>> I feel like I should say that this is a very high quality novel. I was expecting sh*t but was met with a hidden gem.

The pacing, the plotting everything feels so well thought out and even the minor tropes aren't hard on the eyes.

In the beginning he was being set up had to bring it to light or he would have been placed in less than 0 standing when his starting point was already not the greatest.

The young master started with him. It wrapped up nicely and I have no complaints at all.

The characters are great, stand out and aren't just forgotten.

One of the best Chinese novel I have read thus far.
    • Above-average IQ MC
    • A wide, varied and interesting supporting cast that IS NOT THROWN AWAY (At least not yet)
    • Intriguing world-building that mishmashes top genres (Cultivation, Sci-Fi, Returner, Apocalypse)
    • A good returner plot mechanic usage, butterfly effect and whatnot. It is used well and helps to connect the two worlds together meaningfully.
    • Gripping storyline (Fast pace and not in the rinse and repeat kind of way. At least not yet)
    • Great translation quality (No obvious issues that I can notice thus far)
    • Fast translation release (2 per day)
All in all, this novel is definitely worth a read. Will update in the future if my feelings regarding this novel change.
