I was in the mood to read long novel and so happy to find one that was already completed.

The story focus on alchemy and practicioners/cultivators and actually has many yaoi although it's only start from chapter two hundreds something....?? (sorry if I'm wrong n_n"). And not censored. There are also lots of competitions!! (I really like competitions).

Tbh, I don't really like MC and ML's dynamic at the beginning of story. ML like to bully MC so much and MC is too easy to be bullied. When I 'see' MC I... more>> can't help but think, "Is this person for real?". I'm kinda down to earth and logical so I can't help but feel MC's character is too imaginary... It should be noted that my fav kind of MC is the smart one (a little bit vicious is a plus). ML is so so powerful. It's only in the half end of story that he met his 'equal (s) '. This is why their relationship is so imbalance (in my opinion). In accordance to their dynamic, I know it is subjective, so I don't put this variable to rate. I know their interactions can be count as cute and adorable to some people.

I also read some reviews that say ML not really like MC and actually use him. Well, you need to read 'till the end. It's true that ML gives that kind of feeling. He still cares for MC 'tho.

Spoiler

Like getting that Heavenly Scroll and translated it. Did life-bound contract with MC (actually ML never stated it and I think MC still doesn't know about it even until the end of story...)

[collapse]

ML loves for MC is quite clear in the last half of the story when MC is already strong. All this time, ML's feeling was obscured by his bullying and MC's lack of strength.

There are plotholes although not that important.

Spoiler

Dao Xin's headmaster. What's his news? Who poison him? Did he come back to Dao Xin?

Weibai? MC's shifu? How about them? (basically I don't know anything about Long Tian (?) continent after MC and ML went to Tong Tian continent)

What about that demon?? Why there's no demon in Earth (low-realm) and Tong Tian (high-realm) ?

And that thief's disciple. Yin Ge and friends.

[I am still glad the author made Earth-arc 'tho.]

This was recommended to me by a friend.

To be honest, I was hooked in the beginning since I find it interesting how the author describes the world where the MC got transmigrated. I also find the details interesting.

HOWEVER,

I'm not really fond of the ML, since he constantly belittles the MC's IQ– though, honestly, what couple does not tease each other?– still, I feel like the ML's teasing goes below the belt sometimes. I also wasn't fond of how ML seems to force the MC to have ‘adult fun time’... more>> with him. Even though the MC repeatedly says NO, he still wins at the end. And it seems like he only shows his sweet side when he wants to bed the MC.

But, that aside, I really find the MC's contracted beasts really cute! Especially PiQiu and Xiao Jin. They're like the babies of the bunch. They're really lovable since they act like children, always clinging to the MC. Also loved some of the side characters too! They're pretty sweet and kind, always willing to help our MC. They deserve more spotlight tbh! <<less

After reading this novel and stopping how many times at a certain arc but ends up rereading it again because I forgot what happened prior to that certain arc, I can say so have a bit of change on my thought process towards it. Before I read more diverse Chinese novels with more equal relationships, I used to love this so much and laughed at the scenes where the LX would bully YXM and enjoyed their journey. But as I reread it, I realized how uneven their relationship was. I must admit that this was one roller coaster of things. I'm quite glad that I could remember characters that would disappear for more than a hundred chapters and then appear again like it was nothing. This story was practically many universes put together in one long and engaging story.

I admire authors that can write so many chapters and keep the story together. This is the longest story I have read since I started last month (May) and I must say that I fell in love with many characters and... more>> wanted to throw so many others down a cliff.

The interaction between the main characters was hilarious and diverse depending on the arc developing at the time. I really enjoyed reading this novel. I admit that there were some parts that were a bit confusing, but just the fact that I finished the story with a smile on my face it's enough. <<less

Gave up more that half-way through the read. The first 200 chapters are really entertaining, also had an abundance of well-thought out things about cultivations, magical herbs, beasts, beast contracts, life-bond etc. Though I cannot say good things about the bizarre almost out-of-the-blue last minute wrap up for TianXin sect's grandmaster and brother, that-some-sort-of-demon-i-dont-know-kinda-remnant, that academy, that continent etc. Well, after the Paradise realm arc, the plot was kinda all over the place; like a high speed derailment of bullet train. It feels like dragging the chapters on and on... more>> while putting too much elements, jumping into too much setting, adding too much characters; basically a Hawaiin pizza with too much pineapple slices over the cracker-thin crust or base. Ugh. My only consolation over the read is the QIU team and Qiu naming system, laughed my guts out on hunqiu. LOL <<less

~ Finally finished this book. What a ride!! Highly highly recommended.

My real first BL cultivation novel. At first read, it felt like a Harry Potter novel but somehow different... I am loving it. I'm so in love with this book!!

- Oh, MC might be naive but is a fast learner, resourceful yet humble
- YXM's Qiu team is just adorkable
- There is smut, but imo, it is tame compared to most smuts I've read.
- If you're hesitating because of the bad reviews, don't. It truly is a wondrous... more>> experience.

Caveat: if you can't stomach sexism, avoid this book. <<less

I loved this novel.. I've read it twice already beacuse it is so funny without too much drama.. there are a lot of chapters and some people may feel that plot is familiar but in my opinion this is what makes it interesting coz when I wanna read a novel without any heavy plot, I would choose this novel coz despite all cultivation plot, this novel is still light.. and very good.. and when I read it, my mood gets better..

Also, character in this novel is also good.. Uke (YXM)... more>> is sometimes dumb and sometimes sharp.. he is sooo cuute.. and adorable... also soooo greedy hahahahaha... ?? And Seme (LX).. what can we say.. badass.. c*cky.. but it really works for him.. He is always teasing uke and making fun of him but at the same time he knows he is very talent and helps him to improve and progress.. he really cares for him and spoils him.. oh god he does.. soo much... and is soo possessive and protective.. hahahah... he would do everything for his wife.. and we know he did.. (don't wanna give spoilers)

SPOILER ALERT...

Also, I think what was missing was them actually saying "I Love You" to each other although they both knew that they were in love in their hearts but this can be ignored coz they already call each other wife and husband and they both are possessive and they know that about each other so it is still the same.. <<less

Woah this was a long long journey! i gave 5 stars before but looking back on it now I really wont give LMW more than 3 stars just because the sheer sexism that the author depicted here. It left a sour taste in my mouth even while I was trying my best to enjoy reading time.

what I liked about LMW:

LMW is definitely worth a read. Before you get daunted by the sheer number if chapters, let me tell you that each chapter is not massive, so it wont be long... more>> before you are completely immersed in the story. JUST GO ALONG WITH THE FLOW.

I love the plot, I love that the author offered such a engaging story to us and manages to piece together all loose ends. It is ACTION-PACKED. However, those with a low tolerance for VIOLENCE should steer clear of LMW.
Cons of the novel include misogyny, casual sexism, problematic views on 'unmanly'&'manly' males (things I have found over and over in BL) and the sheer amount of characters (really had a hard time remembering each character). There were times I really wanted to slap the lead characters, honestly, no matter how cute and hilarious a few interactions between the MC and ML were. Moreover, I didn't really like some of the smut scenes, I felt things were kind of forced.
Also, GREAT work by the translators, although in the last few chapters I felt that work was full of grammatical errors and certainly some words were missed out, which honestly just disturbs the flow of reading.

I would recommend this novel for those who have the patience and will to go through it; the richness of the plot will not disappoint the reader. <<less

Well, this is the first time I’ve made a comment, be lenient (especially since I’m not very good in English).
I really liked this book, I spent so much time with it. I think it deals very well with the theme Xianxia (my favorite). The different couples are very cute and the story is super well built, with a good plot. I just find it a bit unfortunate that the end doesn’t answer just one or two minor questions. The relationship between the MC and the ML is sweet and cute but I find that ML often exaggerates on the "s*upidity" of MC even if it is mostly due to the fact that MC simply has too much confidence in ML and almost never thinks when it is with him.Well, this is the first time I’ve made a comment, be lenient (especially since I’m not very good in English).
However I warn MC and ML have fingers of gold, and MC is often overshadowed by ML. But it goes well. Too bad we don’t see so many other couples, (especially the last one of which we are not 100% sure that they are together).
In conclusion, this is a reading that I completely recommend, you will experience twists and sensations. Expect to laugh (a lot)

This novel took up a very long time to read and if you have the patience to go through with it I would say to go for it and see how far you can get. The novel was well-paced in the beginning and spent a good time on the worldbuilding and characters and I have to say I was pretty satisfied. I felt that it became a bit more... lazy? later on in the novel. I felt as thought the progression of the story was for the sake of finishing... more>> the novel. The way it ties up loose ends also gave off this feeling of carelessness. I also felt like the main couple were closer in the beginning compared to the end, almost as if they went from lovers to occasional sex-partners. This is purely my own interpretation though, it's just the feeling that I got. I did like the extras but I have to say that it did not leave me with a satisfying ending. I do have to give it a high rating though because of how well the story was written, many chapters did leave me feeling like I had to go back to reading it and I stayed up late reading it because of these good chapters. <<less

did he show up. However, the previous chapters are for the world build up. The setting, and the first group of supporting characters that will each have their own contribution to MC's growth and the development of the plot. Really, really, watch out for those characters. Because this novel is really long, you will soon forget those characters and only remember they are still alive later when they appear again. Hahahahahaha.

Anyway, I love the plot. The characters. The setting. The story. Ah. Really. One of the best danmei novels for me. What I am pissed though is

the way Ling Xiao treats Xiao Momo. Yes. Especially every time he calls Xiao Momo s*upid, idiot, dunce. I mean, where will you find someone who treats their lover like that? However, later I found out, that is Ling Xiao's way of showing his affection to Xiao Momo. Prettt weird since he is insulting Xiao Momo. And Ling Xiao is also way too tyrannical to Xiao Momo. However, think about it. Ling Xiao is very old and very strong. No one in the middle plane is stronger than him, so of course he will be arrogant. He will be overbearing and look down on the humans -especially Xiao Momo. Xiao Momo is smart, but compared to Ling Xiao, Xiao Momo is way too lacking in brain and power. But, here is what it is.

[collapse]

The title, The Legendary Master's Wife. It can be interpreted in two ways. One, the wife of the legendary master. Obviously, the wife is You Xiaomo and the legendary master is Ling Xiao. Yep. This novel really talks about You Xiaomo - the wife of the legendary master.

However, I like the second interpretation, for me. The Legendary Master's Wife - meant, the master's wife is legendary. Which, You Xiaomo really is. And I think, for me, because You Xiaomo is legendary, Ling Xiao - for one, feels inferior of You Xiaomo. You Xiaomo is very hardworking. He is weak from the start but became strong in the end. Meaning, he has a real talent. Meanwhile, Ling Xiao, he is already strong at the start due to his birth. So, maybe, I think the reason why Ling Xiao always rubs You Xiaomo's IQ and powerlessness to his face is due to this.

But! Don't easily judge Ling Xiao like this. Even though he may looked lazy, but Ling Xiao is actually hardworking. If not, how can he had not given up all those years just to wait for the mage destined for him? Also, Ling Xiao, even though he is like that towards You Xiaomo, but he really loves him. You can see it - or read it from the first time they interacted with each other. Ling Xiao developed an interest in You Xiaomo, and his interest grew bigger and bigger until he finally was enlightened of his feelings. His overbearing way when he drags You Xiaomo to s*x, hey. They are men. Also, Ling Xiao knows You Xiaomo better than we know You Xiaomo. Ling Xiao, aside from satisfying himself, he also wants to satisfy You Xiaomo. Because if You Xiaomo is really forced, would You Xiaomo really let Ling Xiao do his way to him? Ling Xiao also has a sense of propriety, and has a pride. He won't force You Xiaomo if You Xiaomo really doesn't like it. Also, Ling Xiao also keeps himself in check. He knows when to back off when they banter.

Okay. I have said enough. A long review for a long novel. ??? <<less

I wish I could give this book 10 stars. It was simply amazing.

The characters were so lovable. Even with all the similar names (Too many Xiaos) you get to fall in love with each character and by halfway through the book you'll know which Xiao is which and all their little characteristics. There was so much attention to detail and the world creation was so beautifully done. I think I can draw a map of both realms.

The romance was a bit rocky in the beginning but as time went by... more>> they naturally fall for each other and by the end they have a beautiful relationship.

MC starts off as a week character yes but by the end of the book he's so bad ass it's insane. He's frustrating because sometimes he just goes looking for trouble and provokes people but he at least never got beat up for it. LOL. <<less

I feel the romance tag for this novel is way off. The interactions between the MC and ML do not appeal to me from a romantic point of view. There's a lot of recycled plots involving the leveling up but what I don't see is character development for the MC and ML. They get stronger power wise but remain the same personality EQ/IQ wise.

Spoiler

I read through the whole novel hoping the MC would be less s*upid/silly and or the ML would treat the MC with more respect instead of putting his IQ down every chapter. Unfortunately, that never happened. It's illogical because the MC is so good at cultivating and comes up with all this interesting ideas and tactics. There's no way someone like that could actually be an idiot. And if he is, what the hell is the ML sticking to the MC for? ML seems like a horndog for the MC but without much reason aside from the rainbow soul. I stuck to the end hoping it would be different and it wasn't. There was so much potential for this story. I think the ML and MC have an unhealthy relationship from a psychological point of view. BTW s*xual desire does not mean romantic. No one wants to be belittled by the person they love on a daily basis.

[collapse]

I'm just disappointed because my personal preference is for romantic relationships to be of those where the MC and ML have mutual respect. I never felt that throughout this novel. The plot and details are fun on their own. Just don't expect a real relationship with depth. <<less

Well Well..
I usually don't read the Reviews until I finished the novel, but this time I couldn't help but I stopped and went to read the Reviews, the others spoke everything and so I would jump to the point that bothered me.

The character of the MC makes me unable to speak, I do not care if he is physically weak but he is weak as a character and does not really have the ingredients that make a person respect him, I can understand that at first, suddenly appeared in... more>> a world that knows nothing about him and he must warn during acting and talking.
He was doing well until ML appeared, his opinion simply disappeared, when he departs from ML, his respect and intelligence will return.

As a reader I do not feel any respect for him, as some have said, the author seems to describe a weak girl in my view.
On the other hand, I could accept it if was just ML, but even monsters treated him with contempt?.

I'll stop reading and maybe I'll continue someday. <<less

So much props to the translators for their hard work, it was epic and pretty well done. I'm a fast reader and still took over a week to finish this book, I can't imagine the amount of work it took to translate.

That said, this is definitely a wish fulfillment book, no obstacle is truly that difficult to overcome, there's always magically just enough money or magical objects for the protagonists to succeed (despite the rarity of both). This wasn't really a 5 star kinda story in my book but I'll give 4, 5.

I've read the novel since it was translated first by s3ri and has maintained as the best transmigration cultivation BL novel I've ever read. Alas, new works come out and I find this novel does have a few points lacking.

Mainly how it goes downhill after half the story. The author is meticulous and vivid in her world building and I truly loved reading it but at the later stage, it felt like YY is rushing... more>> for the story to finish, mainly focusing on solving all the problems and relationships foreshadowed in the novel. Many characters that I found interesting wasn't given justice since they are shallowly described. And the extra left a bad taste in my mouth. I stilk feel like YXM grievance with his family is just glossed over.

The romance isn't the most beautiful I guess. While MC and ML dynamic is funny and interesting, many times in their relationship YXM isn't in equal footing with LX and it feels like LX took YXM for granted at times. Never the less, I can see the subtlety in which they express their love for one another, and I appreciate the sentimentality of their relationship. They do make a lovely couple, and I often laugh along with LX seeing his wifey behave.

Regardless, this novel is worthy a read. Superb world building, colourful characters, and since this is a cultivation novel, detailed journey of YXM trying to reach the pinnacle of medicinal pill cultivation. The action sequences are great as well.

The characters underwent significant growth that I'm happy to read. Although the face slapping gets repetitive sometimes but more and more conflicts get serious and won't be resolved just by the swing of ML sleeves anymore.

This is more of a cultivation and adventure novel and it lives up to its name. The romance is a side dish that adds flavor to it.

This novel does justice with the length it is in and I actually wouldn't mind if it was a bit longer. Overall, despite the points I find lacking, this is a novel that I would re-read from time to time.

Translator/ translation group did an amazing job. From s3ri to exiled rebel, the quality is honestly among the best. <<less
