I love how the villains here have ambition and wins in cunning time and time again against MC.

Other villains might be like oh yeah I want that guy killed *sends someone one cultivation boundary higher than the MC, MC kills him then levels up then kills the villain*. While the process in this novel is different but the ending is the same. The villain will be like I want that guy killed *sends someone at the highest boundary in the universe which is three large LARGE boundaries higher than mc*

I love standard xianxias, this is one of the best in it's genre tho it has it cons too.

  • Cons: Repetitive fillers reactions of other characters
My fave part was the later half of the novel where he already got children, as I'm a sucker for father MCs, bookmarked and I reread that part multiple times

there is nothing special about this cultivation novel but it can be considered a good one.

it has the OP MC trope but the characters, settings and plot is well done. You can say that it is cliche but good cliche.

if I have to criticize then I will say two things

Spoiler

1. In the starting part (life in sky fortune kingdom) MC's growth was a bit hasty. When there is a bright student who can become a ruler in the future, then maybe he will become popular, the current ruler would guide him or something but in case of the MC he was being treated with deference by people who are in positions of power and have higher cultivation. His transition between a young martial talent and a decision making powerhouse was not smooth.

[collapse]

2. MC is decisive in killing but he directly kills off his enemies. There are a lot of evil characters who would better be tortured for better satisfaction.

I dropped it around 1350 something (might read more in the future), why?

the thing is this is in no way a creative or beautiful novel. One can use a analogy of difference between expensive exotic dishes and fast food. The former has complex flavors and varying tastes and the latter is unhealthy and simple. Compared to all the cultivation novels which I have read that fall in this fastfood category (novels such as keyboard immortal do not fall in this category), this can be considered the best. It has repeated all the things that other novels did, but the author did them better. A 10000 year old genius might behave like a less intelligent person but they are not brain dead idiots and so on.4

around 1350 something an arc comes to an end and one can say the world was about to change so it is like another story altogether. I checked some pages on the net and found that the next arc is not well received and from some spoilers I also believe the same. I didn't like it much anyway so I decided to drop it here with "this is here we part" rather than something like "*cursing author's ancestors* what bullsh*t is this". I heard that this novel has a reverse r*pe scene so what I said would not be a exxagaration to my reaction. <<less

This was my first novel. I like it, I have lots of pictures in my head, do to the great details in explaining locations and events.

Yes romance was not its best part, but that happens. Not all things have good ends.

I also read no other story, that descriped in such detail the evolution of inner body. Like how the dantian changes, it was like I was looking into myself fantasy style.

despided the end not beaing that super good. It atleast had an end that I did not despise, like many... more>> other storys I read and thats by now over 40 novels with more than 500 chapters. <<less

So I didn’t really want to say anything here, but I saw some comments so I had to: tbh im here to re read the novel because it’s just very very good.

Everyone have their own opinions but many of the people who leave bad comments about the novel haven’t even finished reading it. Go read it completely then come here and comment.

the story line is very solid and you’ll only enjoy reading it, so if you like novels from this genre my suggestion to you is that you absolutely must... more>> not miss this novel. I’m reading TMW at the moment I’m chapter 1300 so far I would say it isn’t as good as MW but who knows if my opinion might change later, after finishing it.

some say it’s just the cycle of making enemies -getting stronger- defeating enemies.

i have to say outta all novels of this genre that I have read so far, that’s something they all share, even so I would say this novel is well-rounded in all aspects that a reader expects.

so try reading it, you won’t lose anything, if you didn’t like it, just drop it. But eventually everything links together at the end and that’s when you understand how amazing this novel is. My kodos to Cocooned Cow, the author. <<less

This actually a pretty good novel. But, there's too much plot armor in it.

I mean ok, every main character must have plot armor, but it has to have a limit. Even if the plot armor had no limits, there would still be such a thing as a strenuous effort or obstacle In getting it.

But unfortunately as far as I read, there is no such thing like that in it.

... more>> All I saw was, every time MC wanted to increase his cultivation, then all the things he needed will suddenly appear.

Another thing that is most annoying in the story is the way the author describes situations and villain character.

The author really likes to repeated words to describe situations or circumstances in the story.

Sometimes he can even use almost half a page just to describe something, which is actually very boring because all the explanations the author described is same... So back again, the reason of the long explanatios is due to excessive repetition.

There is also a depiction of every villain which is always described as extraordinary.

But in reality they all defeated very easily by MC.

Spoiler

In short, we can say that MC doing in this novel is only :

Encounter strong enemies > Insufficient strength > Gain resources > Cultivate > Slap the enemies > Return to the first point.

The combat and action is top notch. The writing is okay. The romance is forced and tr*sh it makes the novel a lot worst than it is. For example ch690s these chapters are just ultra cringe. It's just so f*cking bad. If your expecting good romance, this sh*t will just let you down. The author doesn't know how to write it. Edit
After reading into the 1930s chapter all the chapters I have read have finally been rewarded. I feel so many emptions it is the true bread and butter... more>> so far.

Edit

After completing this novel it's the one of the best novels I've read, there might be some dull parts but after completing it I glad I didn't drop it.

One of the things I love about this novel is the worldbuilding, when reading a book (at least in my case) I can vividly see what's happening in the story. Whether its description, or something else it just clicks with me.

I also liked the fact that honestly the story gets better as time goes on. After ascending it started getting quite interesting. The tournament arcs are quite well done, comprehension is explained, and the MC has some badass skills which is saying a lot compared to other novels.

Harem is good... more>> (somewhat)

best girl come later in the story in my opinion.

Spoiler

True Martial World f*cking sucks, FMC goes f*cking missing and is gone for like 400 f*cking chapters (cliche and f*cking s*upid right) and every time he finds/hears about her she f*cking disappears, this will quite literally make you skip the chapters till he finds her and if you think he'll find someone else in a polygamic world then your wrong because there is no harem its just f*cking disappearing. Whoever thinks True Martial World is even close to Martial World can suck my dick, even if the story was good the FMC just ruins the whole thing, I'd rather him be dickless.

lost a bit of interest around the 370 tournament Arc where the novel turned into MC being a Destiny Child situation where he is only strong because Destiny made him strong, not a strong because he tries hard nooo, he is strong because Destiny says he is strong, basically plot armour that can make him do anything whenever the author wants

he reminds me of the Definition of one of those "MCs" from those Quick Transmigration Novels where all it would take is a poke and the MC would fall and... more>> become a nobody

turns into another generic MC practices Devil arts, drinking blood, killing intent, devil form 19319 feet tall blah blah, would like a novel where the MC doesn't turn to the demon paths just to cultivate, literally every cultivation novel is like this smh
Edit -
Spoiler

he gave up on that pretty quickly, but from what I read from other people, he goes back to it later

[collapse]

i stopped then started reading again, another classic cliche where MC disappears for years at a time and just f*cking complains the whole time about how much he misses people

Lin Ming Fakes His Death More Than Chu Feng Makes Enemies

Seems like the Author Reread his novel or something, in the 750-850s area he started bringing back a lot of things he either forgot about or dropped

in 1200-1350 there is a s*upid f*cking tournament Arc and the entire 150-200 chapters or so (which I am just skimming at this point) is the exact same f*cking thing

MC does something "Wow MC strongest" other guy does something "MC strong but he is stronger" MC Beats Three Strong People "Wow MC IS The Strongest" Other Guy Does Something Else "Wow MC Is Good But This Guy" MC Beats Him At Something "MC Is Better" Other Guy Does Something Different and Beats Somebody The MC Doesn't Even Know "Wow This Guy Is Better Than MC" and repeat

then more guys and gals show up, people say "With Their Bloodline they are the best" MC Beats Them "MC Is the Best, BUT THIS OTHER GUY ON THE OTHER HAND" its just so f*cking annoying that im skipping it now

and I wouldn't mind it because all of this shitty novels are the same, (but you know some are better) but this thing is literally changing every 5 chapters, going back and forth between these 2 f*cking things

I feel that this novel is that novel that could have been really good were the author not that sloppy. While I enjoy reading MW, I felt a bit bitter as I reflect on my reading experience. I'll start with the things that annoyed me

  1. Closure. A lot of things in the novel were left hanging/ without proper closure. You'll be wondering what happened to X, the fate of Y, etc. I personally felt the ending was kinda meh considering he buildup.
  2. Pacing. Some fights and arcs were either too short or too long due to fillers. Iirc, there was even one period of MC's breakthrough that took almost 10 chapters. Let that sink in.
  3. The harem. It feels like every waifu serves her purpose for only 500 chapters before another one takes over. After that, the said waifu gets minimal mention
    Spoiler

except Ji Xian'er and Sheng Mei

    [collapse]
    .
  4. Wasted potential. The universe of the novel is very interesting and I felt that the author could have made more use of it instead of repeating the same pattern of smelting trials, mystical realms, etc.
What I do like about the novel:

  1. Interesting way of reshaping plot armor as 'destiny' and the portrayal of 'destiny'. So you kinda know that the MC is as undying as a c*ckroach and you just need to wonder how he will escape from his plights
  2. Some parts were really tear-jerking and to me, that's a huge plus
  3. This might sound funny but the romance is actually not bad despite my comments about the structure of the harem.
  4. The novel was well translated and that really made the reading experience fun.
  5. MC is really hardworking and unyielding which makes him kinda inspirational. Makes you wanna cheer for him until the end.

So far the best novel I have read besides AWE. The MC is good natured which I like. Women are not too overshadowed by men. Secondary characters are well developed so far. World building is most perfect I've ever seen. Crowds are enough IQ and logical thinking capacity to recognize MC's talents. Plots are farely decent and intriguing. I don't know what awaits, but I have a strong feeling that this novel is one that I can read until the very end.

This is absolutely a typical xanxia story. There really aren't very many plot twists so if you are looking for something different, it isn't this story.

This has been the longest novel I have read, but I personally enjoyed most of it. The thing I liked about this story the most was that the MC improves his abilities in a more natural fashion than the other stories I have read. I like that he creates his own fighting style. I would say compared to the sequel (True Martial World) MW is... more>> a better story all around.

There are a lot of tournaments involved in this story. So if you don't like that don't read this. There is also a harem where most of the girls in it are typically only helpful in the arcs they are introduced in. You could probably skip a few arcs and wouldn't miss out on the plot.

I would recommend if you don't mind a typical xanxia. The characters are interesting and the MC is somewhat likeable. <<less

Plot: +0.25 - Ok plot. Too linear, predictable. Too few ways to improve oneself. Seemed like the only way was to cultivate, trials, get rewards, cultivate, break-through. There weren't much else. The three types of cultivation (body, essence, divine) still just required cultivation to advance. Other novels have multiple ways (cultivation, concocting, etc). Multiple races, multiple worlds were good. End-of-story didn't leave enough of a cliff-hanger, ie. Not too effective.

+0.5 Great description of human psychological concepts, ie. Thoughts, religions, human traits, and world phenomenons, as if they could be real.

Challenge:... more>> +1 - The main character faced many difficulties. Lost a fair amount of battles.

Main Character: +1 - Consistent character. Righteous. Not cruel.

Romance: +0 - Good romance; however, negated by supporting extra-marital affairs and heavy emphasis on s*xual assaults.

Drama: +0.5 - Not many losses. The passage of time had little effect. Comedy: +0

Overall: 3.25/6 <<less

This series is a great time sink. But, at certain points it can get pretty boring. Large portions of the story (200-300 chapter sections) are ultimately unimportant and have no relevance to future events. I think the author just wanted to add to the word count, so he added a ton of filler BS into the story. That being said, there are some great moments sprinkled throughout this series that are worth reading.

This is a classic story of an underestimated underdog beaten down character rising up through a combination of... more>> a cheat item, plot armor, and "unbreakable will". I don't have a strong opinion about the main character, at the start of the novel I felt he had some personality, but as he got more strength and the story progressed he became increasingly generic. Also, 99% of the side characters in this novel are irrelevant outside of their small story arcs. IF you have a lot of time, I would suggest that you skim through this novel, within 5 chapters you should know whether or not it is your cup of tea.

Additional note: The author seems really obsessed with s*xual cultivation, stealing yin and all that shit, so be warned that there are a countless enemies constantly trying to get at EVERY single girl the main character even glances at, to the point where it is questionable whether or not you are a female in this universe if someone doesn't want to r*pe you. <<less

Well, I just finally finished this. If you are someone who is considering reading this, I can only encourage you. I really enjoyed this. Though I do admit the last 400 or so chapters were my least favorite. That being said, this is still one of my favorites. What I said about the ending, in my opinion, could be said about damn near every cultivation novel where the characters end up in space. The stakes just get kinda silly, and the power levels get ridiculous. I mean when you can... more>> destroy worlds and dimensions that easily, then what happens when you accidentally fart and destroy a continent? Also, the main bad guy wants to destroy all life... well, what happens after? If there's no other people, there's no standard of comparison. Your just a strong, old man sitting in a dark vacuum remembering the time you killed all those people.

That said, who cares. It's a story, it should be outlandish and unbelievable. Pure good vs. Pure evil. If you're like me, that's why we read. If you want depressing reality, maybe I should tell you about my life.... spoiler alert, I'm broke and the hot girl I married in college got fat. Also, my poop has blood in it.... end spoiler. Tune in next week for episode 2, is this a pimple or a cyst?

Ok, back to it. Great read, didn't care for the ending. 4.5 stars. <<less

The start was interesting. There's a lot of reading; mostly discussions and explainations.

Feels like the author expects the reader to forget what he wrote the previous chapter.

There's a lot of iterations that seems like a poor excuse for a filler to act as flashbacks. It's sickening...

... more>> I like the book, the plots are predictable at the end. Same conclusion as the others, feels like the author got lost at the ending.

I don't have the patience to keep reading, my tolerance is short, the lines keep repeating. The repetitions are so bad, I don't wanna keep reading.

I hope this review doesn't discourage new readers, this is a good read. The ideas are good, and I loved it (past tense). I guess it's not the book, but the author's works are not for me.

Thanks tho... <<less

A nice simple story of an MC who overcomes every obstacle in an awesome way through his insane perception and comprehension of cultivation along with a cube that gives him memories of gods. There isn't much deep political plot. Entertainment value is very good.

The story starts picking up around chapter 100 and then starts getting better and better around 200 and then around 400, where I am now, it's straight up addicting. There is no aimlessly long buildup and the fight scenes are very, very detailed. The cultivation levels are... more>> interesting and simple to understand as well.

Also, romance is absolutely fantastic. Although it is more of a subplot, EVERY interaction he has with female characters will leave you satisfied. He doesn't go like, "maybe in the future, " and then the author proceeds to forget. No, that doesn't happen. The first thing the MC will do when he comes back from a different realm is to save his girl.

Plus, translations are finished so there will be an ending if you start reading now.

HOWEVER! One flaw that I have to point out with this story is the filler. The author rambles about something repeated dozens of chapters ago again, and again. If you haven't mastered the Dao of skim reading and know when to stop, then you need to have a lot patience. <<less

Here's a typical MC with a filial trait found once every 100, 000 years. You'll find female leads where they are more miserable than tr*sh, where their will to get MC under their pants is so great that they use extreme tactics by clinging onto MC's parents. The dumb MC (filial son of heavens) sympathize and accept their love, the one benefitted the most is none other than those tr*sh females where they shamelessly consume MC's hard earned resources (even divine phoenix blood). They are not even worthy of MC's... more>> fart.I do think MC would accept Lan YunYue even if she cuckolded him with another guy by apologizing and pleading to MC for accepting her. He's a total variant from Qin Wentian from AGM where selected Harem is found with good female lead.I do think that Harem in this novel is total shit, instead MC should've been 'solitary' throughout, that would've been much better

The good and wonderful points are those plots and inheritances MC gains throughout and tribulations undertaken by him are nicely described. Cultivation methods and techniques have good and detailed description. MC is ruthless to enemies and good to those who help him. You'll find his benevolence reaching high heavens but MC is pitiful and weak willed against those tr*sh women. Overall novel is worth to read but opinions of readers varies. Translation and editing cannot be more perfect. Overall I recommend to read if you expect the true hero of generation or heaven chosen MC. <<less
