I read this along with the first 50 chapters of the manhua (which is beautiful, BTW, and also surprisingly very close to the novel! Of course, some things are missing, but, shockingly, if you read the novel at the same time as the manhua, you'll notice that the artist has featured a lot of the small details!!!). This is definitely a favorite for me~ I was a little hesitant to read it at first because the summary (let's be honest) is not all that great LOL, but it turned out... more>> to be worth the read!

CHARACTERS:

There are tons of characters in this novel and the shocking thing is that each of them is worth the feature! The characters are what really make this novel shine, tbh. They're all very complex and nuanced~

You Huo (MC) : The MC of the story is the apathetic and capable You Huo! He entered the SYSTEM's world along with his Uncle and Cousin. In the beginning, he seems like your typical cool protagonist, but he's not just cool because of a tragic background! There's a reason for everything that he does (the same goes for all of the characters, really). Although those reasons will take a while to be revealed entirely. He gets through the SYSTEM's examinations with a lot of creativity and ingenuity.

  • Minor Spoilers:
    Spoiler

You Huo is exposed as an amnesiac pretty early on. He doesn't remember much of what happened before he ended up in the SYSTEM's world. However, upon meeting the MC and continuing to challenge the SYSTEM's "examinations" it will be revealed that he's actually a lot closer to the SYSTEM than most.

    [collapse]
Qi Jiu (ML) : The ML of the story is the arrogant and sarcastic type. He has an easy-going personality and is usually always smiling. That's not to say that he's personable though. He's actually pretty distant from people. He's also a lot wilder than he looks. Opposite of the MC, who starts of as a player or "examinee", the ML is someone that works for the SYSTEM to oversee the exams (the title is different between the novel and the manhua, its either "Examiner" or "Invigilator").

  • Minor Spoilers:
    Spoiler

The ML is also revealed to have amnesia pretty early on! Oh, and it might be confusing at first because, as an examiner, he might not seem to have much to do with the exams (and as a result, the MC), but he'll become more and more involved gradually!

    [collapse]
SETTING:

This is a Horror/Psychology Survival Game setting. The "Examinees" are thrown into a dimension separate from Earth. There appears to be no reason for it at first but it will be explained later. The important thing is that each Examinee has to complete a total of five exams in what appears to be normal school subjects (i.e., math, physics, history, etc.) The exams will indeed have something to do with these subjects, but the main focus is the horror/psychology aspect of it. The SYSTEM is particularly pe*verted and it'll throw dangerous elements that have a high risk of leading to death! (For example, NPCs that will suck them dry or curse them to death!)

As for the "Examiners" or the "Invigilators", they're examinees that have passed the exams but have not been able to leave the SYSTEM's dimension. As mentioned earlier, their main task is to supervise the examinations and give rewards and punishments as they are due.

PLOT:

The MC is pretty averse to the SYSTEM and its rules from the beginning, leading to a lot of rule-breaking or rule challenging LOL. This pits the MC against the ML (hence the bickering couple tag, which is glorious LOLOL) and it makes what appears to be pretty pointless challenges into something interesting (a.i., guessing what f*ckery the main characters will do next).

The main focus of the story is definitely the romance though. Or, better yet, the development of the characters~ The key is the main pair, but the others as well! As for the romance...

ROMANCE:

The romance here is particularly GOOD. The two start off at opposite sides and their banter is simply glorious. Ahhhh they're so cute together T.T This is a non-explicit work and the romance isn't the focus all of the time. But the development of the MC and ML's relationship is definitely a highlight~ The whole double amnesia thing was particularly fun~

RATING:

I give this story a rating between 4.5 to 5 out of 5! Right now, I can't really think of anything bad to say about the story~ It was written well, the characters were wonderful, and the setting, while not my favorite, was exciting. I think it worked out even better because of the length of the novel too. It's neither too long nor too short, it's just right! Everything was settled by the end too, which is nice. One of the more recent stories I read had a lot of hanging plot lines, but this one was very careful with things from the very beginning!

Definitely worth the read and reread and something I highly recommend. <<less

I wish I could love this story more, but it's just so mid to me. I wasn't that fascinated by the MC or ML, their relationship, nor their backstory. They were just OP and one dimensional to me. Each arc began with very interesting premises, but nothing clever either.

So... yeah it's really good. I get what the hype is all about. To be honest, the whole system was confusing but the way they explained it makes sense and due to the background of MC im ok with accepting it.

Actually... the plot twist is easy to guess but it wasn't boring at all? Instead it makes you feel like pumping your hand in the air and say "I WAS RIGHT!!"

The whole plot never made me feel like the main characters would die but I still feel disheartened and would... more>> wonder what they'd have to lose in order to win.

I feel like rereading. Oh yeah and translator was awesome anything I was confused about is due to the plot and not them. Send them love <3 <<less

It was ok in the beginning but towards the end I was already tired and expecting more to it... but le sigh. Very sad cuz I really like the author's other work called Copper coins. This one was lacking in the development romance wise for the 2 leads... It just wasn't well written. Also a major problem was the tests.... questions and answers here... are really random/make no sense to me at least. The lack of tension (since the MC and ML are already so strong) was also something that... more>> was very prevalent because the story wasn't engaging enough.. <<less

(4/5) A solid novel with a clever MC and ML. Some of the tests that they needed to take had some interesting mysteries surrounding in. I struggled to get into this novel in the beginning, but I'm glad that I read on since some of the arcs were really interesting. The beginning of the novel might feel dragged on, but if you're interested in the ML and MC past then you gotta keep reading. I enjoyed the MC and ML dynamic.

Spoiler

MC and ML's love runs deep, they fell in love 3 times. The first time was because the ML needed to infiltrate the game, the second time ML got his memory wiped and was on the opposing team of MC. The ML was still h**ny for MC. The bickering couple and enemy to lover trope is throbbing in this book. The third time is this story, both got their memories wiped. It was really sweet how deep their affections were for each other. The arcs that I found interesting were: the sus village, the sus duke, and the crazy twins. I kinda want to know what happened to side characters after the test examination AI got destroyed.

[collapse]

Since some of the arcs fell flat for me, the story didn't click with me that much. I did enjoy the MC and ML dynamic and it's a solid novel to read. <<less

a story where the last quarter is much better than the first. In the first part the MC has an entire group of oil bottles that are clinging to his thigh and not contributing; he does all the work and they leech points off of his efforts

Spoiler

reminds me of those group presentations we were forced to do in school, from elementary all the way through university. There were a couple people who work hard and earn their score while there was also always at least one who does nothing and yet ends up with the same grade. I f*cking hate leechers and yes, I am bitter about it. I can understand why some people couldn't make it through the first half of the story, even without the added amnesia irritant.

[collapse]

I usually avoid amnesia stories and between that and all the people leeching off the MC I normally would have dropped this by c30 at the most, but I kept on with this one because I was nagged constantly.

I did enjoy when the MC and ML played against each other; their banter was fast paced and fun and I really liked the times when they faced things side by side. I didn't like all the flashbacks that come and go whenever, though I get that it gave more depth to the characters and fleshed out the story. Also, the whole system set up was strange and there were some things that still make no sense so expect a few plot holes. Most of the mystery set up was easy to figure out but the core location was a surprise. The end was decent; at least the main characters kept their memories this time around and that's all I really hoped for. my conclusion? On the plus side I loved the MC and ML being equal partners; no idiots, blushing maidens, or damsels in distress here. Other than that, I still hate leechers and still dislike the memory loss gimmick, but this was one of the better written stories that rely on it. I also discovered that I can only take so many flashbacks before I start skipping chapters trying to get back to the present. I rate the first part a 3 and a 3.5-4 for the end. <<less

I saw many reviews praising this book so I thought I'd give it a try. It's okay but it didn't live up to my expectations.

I've read up to chapter 92 and so far, none of the arcs left an impression. It also wasn't much of a surprise that the MC and ML knew each other (what with the book summary and all). It just seems like the author is being needlessly mysterious. I also have an issue with this being tagged 'horror'- it's not. There's definitely some suspense but nothing... more>> is graphic enough for it to be considered a horror novel. I might come back to this one day but overall, it's a book to pass the time that feels boring and generic. <<less

Honestly, maybe these type of novels just not my cup of tea. I really didn’t like the Card Room and now this.

The thing is, my problem with the two story is not the plot, or the puzzles but the characters, or the lack of them.

First this is a multiple POV story and not in a good way. I really couldn’t like an MC when on the outside he is a cold and uninteresting character (ofc like in the Card Room is an overpowered genius) and his POV time is so... more>> limited that for me it was not enough for even remotely start to like him.

On the other hand we have an ML which I admit I didnt see much of it but what I saw was again clished and uninteresting.

The other characters are total cannon fodders. All in all we have a too bland genius will be couple and other characters who are waiting to die.

A review says that we should give it a try and read the whole thing. I don’t think it is my job to like a story and give it multiple chance; it is the job of the writer to pull the reader in for the story the first couple of chapter.

But good for the majority of people who liked the story, I am the one who once again was disappointed.

Thank you for my TED talk. <<less

So far, I think this only deserves three stars. Why? Because it's too mysterious. It reminds me a bit of "Earth is Online, " but without any of the set-up or world building of that story. We're thrown immediately into the action with zero explanation of how anyone got there, where they are (same world? Different world?), or even whether this sort of thing is completely normal for this world. Thirteen chapters in and I'm still waiting to find out. The people taking the exam are clearly first timers, but... more>> there's still no indication that this sort of horror set-up is abnormal for this world. The characters lack the sort of confusion one would expect for being thrown into this game if they had no knowledge of it at all.

Edit at chapter 84:
I've changed my review to four stars because that author has been doing world building the last few arcs. I think that it still doesn't answer a lot of the questions I had at the beginning, but the world is becoming more understandable, if still surrounded by some mysteries. <<less

It's the first time I read a novel with this type of "examination" horror/mystery/survival game so I was really invested. MC is smart but he is not favoured in all aspects which I appreciate. Also, he seems to sleep a lot and seems cold, but all of this is explained through the story. ML is a playful character. Similar to MC in some ways, different to MC in some other ways. I love the relationship between them. It has that angst that I really like in CPs. Some people here... more>> make a fuss about MC and ML being too OP, to which I say they are wrong. They aren't OP and unbeatable, you will understand if you read to the important parts. However I do agree that I would probably enjoy it more if one or two other issues in the exams didn't go their way (I'm not saying everything went perfectly, because it didn't at all.)

Both of them are mysterious; actually the plot is really mysterious at first (that's why it has the "mystery" tag haha), it is not fast-paced and I would say it's one of those novels where it gets better and not worse towards the end.

The translation is good, so give it a try!

I will give it a 4-4.5/5, because it's not perfect, however I enjoyed most stuff. If you don't like amnesia, mystery or other things, check all tags first before reading, maybe it is not your cup of tea and that is okay. <<less

i only read this because of the manhua adaptation because I am a victim to good art and far too impatient for chapter updates. Because I read this in chinese, which took me far longer than it would have if I had read it in english, it felt like I wasted my time (it took me 2 months to read 160 chapters and I was on break which feels so pathetic, so I have decided that im never reading anything in chinese again even tho I really should improve my... more>> reading skills). The first 70~ chapters were good, good enough to continue reading. Despite the fact that the plot holes were holing and the MC just goes and breaks the rules to every test like theres no tomorrow and still manages to pass with flying colours. But the ending, in my opinion, was just so unsatisfying because everything felt so rushed like the author just wanted to finish the novel, which understandable, because really what else can you write about when you have yh as the MC and qj as the ml? Not much tbh.

Spoiler

the MC and ML were so.. Boring. The chemistry? Basically non-existant, when you have characters that are sobland it hurts. The MC is so emotionally withdrawn, I have no idea what goes on in that head of his and his motives. The story would've been a lot better had there been no romance, which to be fair was barely there until the end. I wish there was more focus on the side characters because they were more interesting than the main characters, and they were practically discarded nearing the end of the novel after their need to drive the plot was gone. Like wdym the mc's cousin and the rest of them actually followed him down inside the elevator because I sure as hell did not read anything about them being there for the past 2 chapters?? Maybe my chinese sucks and I missed it, but I went back to read the english translation, so maybe I was hallucinating when I was reading? Idk, highly probable. And wdym they just decided to hack the system and destroy the system without any major setbacks, oh yes we get this guy to help and this guy to open it up and we are inside??? Like yes, this might not be the first attempt, but still.

[collapse]

on the bright side at least some this author can create some killer quotes like wth they were actually so good it makes me forget how disappointed I was with this.

"愿我们在硝烟尽散的世界里重逢" wow I will never forget this quote

anyways maybe im a hater of infinite flow novels because I have attempted to read a few others and they are all sitting at ~20 chapters.

maybe I am just a hater in general. Idk, could just be me though. <<less

Since I heard so many good things about Global examination I finally read it and I must say, dunno maybe it's because the translation felt unengaging for me or the novel was just written lke that, there was never anything that pulled me really in. Or maybe it's just not my genre. I can't find any appeal of overpowered MC and ML cause well you know they will just get through everything unscathed and you never worry or fear, cause they are too OP. It's the first time I read... more>> a novel with that concept and that's plain boring for me. I really pushed through with difficulty and I was bored most of the time D=

Spoiler

I never really cared for any character either as there was no suspense for me and with two chars showing no emotions well how shall I feel into a character that way? I understood why, but even after they regained their memory, there was no reaction at all, so yeah happened, move on. Like ok what?

[collapse]
So MC and ML seemed just dull for me without any depth. But maybe that was because of the translation that it felt that way, I dunno. It's sad casue I rly looked forward to read it and left me so dissapointed. <<less

THIS NOVEL IS BEAUTIFUL!

BL novels are sprouting like mushroom these days. And almost all of them are made from the same mold. There is rarely any originality, any thrill or interesting plot whatsoever. It's like when you ask your friend not to completely copy your homework but you know what happens.

Among the sea of boring novels, GUEE is certainly different. This is one of the best novels I have ever read, BL or non-BL. The novel has a really unique humor. Also, I... more>> easily got s**ked in by the story. The author really writes the best lines adding an irresistible charm to the novel. God, the lines in this book are so damn beautiful, it directly touched my heart everytime.

MC is emotionless. He doesn't talk much but when he does, he is very sassy. His thoughts are rather hilarious.

Around 3-5 chapters, the dialogues made me cackle up so I decided to continue reading. The whole atmosphere in the novel is eerie and dark but it still managed to make me laugh from time to time. Only this reason is enough for me to continue reading any book.

The relationship between MC and ML is so pure and healthy. ML is one hell of a romantic person. He just loves MC. That's it. He doesn't get jealous, overbearing or possessive. He simply loves in the most romantic way possible. This is a rare sight in many novels, especially BL novels.

There is no steamy scenes whatsoever. I am glad about this because it is not needed to show how much MC and ML love each other. Many BL authors should really learn from this novel on what exactly is love. Because seriously there are really too few BLs that depict 'love' in a good way. So far as I am aware of, most of the BLs out there only showcase lust or possessiveness. I am truly sick of it.

MC describes ML as 'a bright and passionate person'. I also think the same. Apart from that, he is EXTREMELY romantic, cool, funny, responsible, kind, rebellious, smart, and strong. Ugh, if he were real, I would definitely fall for him.

Both MC and ML are OP. But they are the kind of OP where I personally felt happy about.

I can clearly see that the author is genius. The whole story is well-balanced. It doesn't focus too much on only one thing but gives priority to everyone and everything necessary. The plot is well-thought and well-written. All the characters are amazing and none of the side characters feel neglected. The story doesn't only highlight the main couple and their relationship dynamic but also focuses on their relationship with all their friends and family. All the characters feel like real human beings with real emotions. They don't appear 2D at all. Their interactions are particularly interesting.

Conclusion

I am in love with this author and this novel. I have checked that all the other novels by the author are well-received. So I plan to check them all out. <<less

First of all there is no doubt that this story has a very good plot.

But I dont know why, I just can't feel anything else about this story apart from the fact that this story is good.

Like I don't feel any feelings of tension or curiosity/anticipation in each subsequent chapter.

Because even though the plot is good, the story itself is still feels bland for me.

Yes, yes, this novel is amazing. The ending was satisfying but still... I want side stories. No I need them. Ughh I’m gonna miss their bickering. Qin Jiu, You Huo, 922, 154, Yu Wen, (and all the other ones names) have gotten me attached to them. Hip to hip, bone to bone. This is I think my first Unlimited Flow story I’ve read and I sure don’t regret it.

This story has kinda enemies to lovers, but like not really... but then again yes. You’ll know what I mean if... more>> you read. The villain in this is good at being a villain but the main characters sure make it hard. I’d say this story has horror elements. A lot of the stuff the examinees had to go through was messed up. This is the kind of environment with “survival of the strongest”. I got goosebumps.

I like that in this instead of the love interest being the cold one, You Huo was the one with that type of personality. And there’s actually a good reason behind him being so closed off. I like the way the author built this character. Freaking perfection at its finest. Look at his face and tell me that man isn’t beautiful! Do it. Come one now!!

Oh also, if you’re the type of person who hates when authors make the women cannon fodder, then this story is for you. The author actually built the women to have skills that help them survive, especially considering their surroundings. The women weren’t just there to make the main characters look good. This alone bumped this story up my list.

The romance is a slow burn but I didn’t really mind. The mystery, horror, and thriller side of the story pretty much took a lot of my attention.

My review doesn’t do justice to this story but I hope it convinced you to give this a try. <<less

I rarely leave comments when it’s about a book I read. When I do, it’s because it REALLY deserves it. This book was fantastic to read. I couldn’t stop and ended up finishing it in 3 days.

I believe this one has everything a good novel needs:

- Interesting and powerful characters (Main ones and second ones etc...)

... more>> - A plot which is logical and interesting

- Rollercoasters

- It allows the reader to also be a sort of “investigator” because clues are hidden and when you know the truth at the end, you’re like “WOW! I knew it!” And when they explain the clues and what they meant... Mindblowing haha.

Furthermore, I find the idea of the plot really good. As a College student, I know how it is to have multiple exams and how terrible it can be and I feel like this novel really conveyed those feelings.

Another good point is that the characters portrayed all have realistic personalities. Some are annoying, other boring, easily scared or too full of themselves and that’s what adds this “realism”

Usually, I dislike slow burn because in a lot of novels, the slow burn is useless. But in this one... Wow! I couldn’t stop reading because one can feel the tension between the two MC. This raw emotion, hidden under a “enemies to lover” trop. Incredible, really!

To conclude, I can assure you that this novel is worth reading. There is almost no angst, it’s funny, has a bit of horror (but it’s really mild) and is realistic. Plus, the relationship between the two MC is just so pure and at the same time so... Electric!

This novel is a MUST read I can guarantee you. Plus, the translation is really well done! ^v^ <<less
