Ye Zhi not only inherited the run-down house, but also the engagement with a man. The man who met his true love disliked his fiancée in all ways and asked for divorce.

In order to express their guilt, the man’s family decided to make up for it with Ye Zhi. But she did not want their ‘compensation’ and simply left without turning her back.

The next second, Ye Zhi was picked up by a Rolls Royce.

Gu Ren, the son of the richest man, had a tough life and couldn’t live past 30 years old. Only Ye Zhi, who was born on the cloudy day of the lunar year, was the most suitable match that could make him survive.

Ye Zhi and Gu Ren got married. Gu Ren gave her a bank card. All she has to do is—

Spend money for him! Squander his fortune!

Ye Zhi bought a Lamborghini for Gu Ren, but he had an accident as soon as he drove the car.

As soon as she bought some Hermes platinum bags for herself, Gu Ren signed a more than one billion worth contract.

It turned out that the money could only be spent on herself. The more she spent, the more prosperous she became.

Since then her life has changed completely. She became a rich woman who owns luxury items, limited edition bags and a villa overlooking the Forbidden City.

The man thought that Ye Zhi, who he had broken up with, must have suffered a lot. Until one day, he saw his former fiancée walking in the street, followed by a striking Lamborghini.

Wait! Who is the man next to her?

This man is a super-rich man—Hundreds of times richer than his own family!

I binge-read this entire thing today and can say it was super sweet and worth it. There's no love at first sight bs, their relationship builds over time and is believable. Annddddd they have more in common than you think~

Also, how the villainess is handled I think is rather well done without any of those crazy psycho moments you see in other novels. (Like in a certain novel where the antagonist decides to haunt the MC's every move and it's poisoning here, an attempt to run her over there etc.... more>> Actually, it was kinda refreshing to have a novel where the women aren't trying to cause another woman to be r*ped as their first line of retaliation for imagined offenses.)

This fluff is well worth the time, AND you get bonus bun in the extras! <<less

Plot: 4.5/5

Character development: 3/5

Rating: 4.5/5

This novel is pretty heartwarming. It focuses mainly on the relationship between the two leads who happened to have transmigrated into a novel as a cannon fodder for the main characters. Although the antagonist of this book (the original MC) wasn't well developed, it wasn't shallow either. I like how her ending wasn't the overly crazed type but something that was deeply rooted in her character and beliefs. Although I do pity her, but she really deserved her ending in a nice way the author made it out to be. Though one thing I feel off about her character is that, her IQ seems to have flown off whenever our MC is around which I find a bit disappointing. Although it was justified that she was a greedy and materialistic person, her past to her current life could've been more fleshed out. As for the original male protagonist? Well... the dude has no hope.

One thing I really love about this novel that stood out was how the author cleverly connected the two leads past. It was bittersweet at first for their first encounter but the development on their relationship was satisfying. Especially with the symbolism for light, snow, and darkness. You can somewhat feel the feelings of the ML (although sometimes it was too repetitive but it still emphasizes how important the FL was which I find sweet) who was swallowed by his helpless ability to see the world with his blind eyes. His weakness and fragility from his past life is what MC fills in for him. Together, they make up for what they both lack in one another

*Sneak Peak of the arc*

Spoiler

When they were both sent back to their real world and they had to look for each other, I found that a bit dramatic tbh. However, their efforts to accomplish it makes you really happy they got together. Especially when ML prepared a concert in desperation just to find MC in case she does appear since in their original world they don't know each other's face, identity, nor voice. Their moments within that scene painted a picture in my mind and touched my heart.

*Sneak Peak of the arc*

ML *in his concert*: Can everyone please turn off their lights?

Fans: *proceeds to do what he asks*

Among the darkness where the lights slowly dimmed and disappear everywhere, Gu Ren searched for Ye Zhi. Although his night blindness in the past doesn't obscure his vision now, but why is it that he still can't find her? Everything is still so dark without any light... However, as the lights at all sides began to disappear, among the crowd, Ye Zhi panicked and hastily took out her phone to turn on the light. At that moment, without any words spoken out loud, that lone shining light guided both of them to one another as a sign to say "I'm here"

Gu Ren ran out of the stage and followed the light. Because he knows, as long as she say those words, as long as she keeps being his light, he'll be there. As he stands in front of Ye Zhi whose face and voice differed from the girl he knows in his life, he asked her with trembling voice.

Gu Ren: "Why didn't you turn off the light?"

Ye Zhi: "Because I'm worried you won't be able to see me."

Gu Ren trembled, he felt afraid that she was just a mere illusion. He didn't dare blink his eyes in case she does disappear. Hugging her tightly in his arms, her comforting scent tells him that she really is here.

Ye Zhi: I finally found you, Gu Ren

i can proudly say that this is one of the novel in my top list of overall genre. This one is just so beautiful, heartwarming, fluffy, lovable. Oh god, and the Dog food, it made me filled up to the brim.

Here's what I can say about the storyline

The storyline is quite cliche but who the f*ck cares when you have the rational MC and ml, there's only like one s*upid character. This is just so good that you will love every chapter.

TLDR 5 stars a light bingeable read that can be managed in one sitting. Good fun indeed

Details:

This novel is escapism in the following forms

    1. Wealth p*rn lots of ridiculous spending and overpriced handbags
    2. Entertainment industry glitz about 50% of the novel involves reality TV
    3. Real Daughter/Fake Daughter conflict (very mild)
    4. Romance between MC and ML
    5. Transmigration into a book (minor but it does set up motivation)
It manages these themes well, the characters are enjoyable if one dimensional, the villains while dislikeable are bland and generic. There's only one that does serious dogblood and she's dumped quickly.

In short it's a light fun read.

Can only said that this story is so sweet and fluffy, my heart is nourished with their love~~~~

The love story between Ye Zhi and Gu Ren is not a 'love-at-first-sight' trope, and it already a plus for me. There is no unnecessary conflict between the MC and ML. The conflict with the antagonist (s) was handled pretty well and rather satisfying.

We not only got romance, but also family love. I'm glad there's a story where the MC's family is a rich man but with good sense of familial love.

Really, reading... more>> this novel is worth the time spent. Fully recommended! Wishing the TL team will do a good job as always ♡♡ <<less

MC collapsed on set from malnutrition. I know author was trying to describe ML's despair at the thought of almost losing MC, but can you not be so descriptive? It was supposed to be an emergency situation, but the long descriptive imagery words made me feel like MC was left on the grounds for 10 minutes instead of 10 seconds with everyone else just looking at her fainted on the ground and waiting for ML to pick her up.

I almost want to stop reading from the unnecessary repetitions but the thought that I'm almost finished with the novel made me continue to read till the end. It was a good story overall but author attempts at describing both protagonists actions to the t waned my interest. 3 stars. <<less

This is not particularly great but good to pass time.

If your are looking for something to pass time, then this is good novel for you.

Overall, it's slightly plain but anyway I am enjoying it as I have read many dramatic novels so it's a good change.

This got super boring.

The characters are incredibly 2D and don't really stand out at all. I'm actually annoyed with the MC; she is the typical mary-sue heroine that doesn't really have anything going for her except that she isn't greedy and I guess hard-working (?). She has no character and just a dense and slightly s*upid blank piece of paper. The ML is just there, being rich and falling for the MC probably because she's the heroine.

The characters, plot, logic, world building, and romance are shallow to say the least.... more>> I just dropped it after being halfway through the raws.

(Update)

Finished reading the series and I still mostly stand with I said above.

Still don't like the MC, so blank... JEEZ.

I have a new complaint though; the MC'S biological parents are kinda tr*sh.
Spoiler

Almost immediately after their daughter was kidnapped, they actually got a replacement for her. Like the mom admitted that Sheng Man was actually just a substitute to where she can place her maternal love. Then when the mom found out that her daughter was still alive and that Sheng Man's father probably had something to do with her disappearance, she didn't even bother to found out if Sheng Man knew or not before completely disowning her. Like we all know that Sheng Man is a piece of sh*t and mom figured out that she was a pretty nasty and selfish person but it still doesn't justify her actions. Mom raised her, spoiled her, and watched her grow up but just immediately drops her, humiliates her on television (twice) and blames her. Mom says she has a bad character but never fully acknowledged that the way Sheng Man turned out was partially her fault and her laissez faire child raising policy.

The dad was also barely in the freaking series. He sends the mom away when she getting depressed about her daughter's disappearance and is always away. Then when they finally find MC, he still remains abroad because of some business issues despite the fact you know, the daughter that got kidnapped and who they didn't even know was alive or death finally appeared after 10 years. You could probably push aside that one business meeting to finally meet your daughter, you know.

[collapse]

I just don't like the characters or plot. <<less

This is a decent read of a novel; I’ve read the raws and it’s quite cute and simple. Obviously there isn’t super heavy plot twists or complicated things in the story but it’s not like the author claims that that’s what they’ll be writing so I really don’t understand why there are so many reviews complaining lmao.
My one complaint is the translator itself. They split the chapters into tiny thirty second reads and list them as a full chapter so they can get more ad revenue. That’s why the... more>> listed chapters are at 179 even when the novel itself has 110 full length chapters. It’s really irritating when fan translations do that in order to milk all the money they can get when it’s an unofficial fan translation (and therefore not giving any support to the actual author). Don’t present something as something it’s not. List the chapters as ‘Chapter x Part x’ instead of claiming to be posting full chapter translations. <<less

At first, the story was fine. I kinda enjoy it a bit. Both ML and FL are likeable. FL aren't mary sue since she receives helps from ML.

But along the way, the story became boring, the plot pointed the same direction as "Daily Life of a Villain's Mother" which is written by the same author.

I won't be reading both novels to the end since in DLVM, the FL is super mary sue. Not really my cup of tea (even though i've read till chapter 112 lol) and I wont't be... more>> reading this novel further either since it has basically the same plot as DLVM.

If you want a not-so-mary-sue-FL, then you might give this story a shot, but if you want a cute bun and some fluffy scene with the bun, you might want to read DLVM instead since both story has kinda the same storyline. So it's not worth to read both novel imo

But if I haven't read DLVM first, I might enjoy this novel (i guess) <<less

This novel is the very definition of boring. The writing is boring, the characters are boring, the plot is boring. Everything is all show and tell, the story telling is poor and flat. If you want the definition of 2D characters and plot, you can find it here.

Also, it seems, to the author, the epitome of wealth and class and status are brand bags like Hermes and Gucci and CHanel. Bags are somehow used as currency and status indicators for women in this novel, which is a bit ridiculous. Someone... more>> needs to introduce the author to other things rich people use to show off their wealth, like lavish parties, giant ballgown dresses, private airplanes, private islands, private shopping centers, private healthcare, private everything ok. <<less

The first few chapters are a bit plain. The wordings and sentences are shallow or maybe too direct that it feels emotionless. However it gets better overtime.

I was surprised to know the author of this book is the same author of The Former Wife of Invisible Wealthy Man cuz I felt that TFWIWM have that eloquent and beautiful feelings in every wordings even in the MTL version. But in the middle of this book until the end, it clearly has that TFWIWM feelings. I love the idea of this book... more>> even more so than TFWIWM. The romance is growing steadfastly and not abrupt. The characters are OK and I love the big families in this book unlike in other rich family kind of feeling on other novels ><

The minus side would be the flow of time and events are a bit inconsistent and sometimes the changes are too abrupt. But any other than that, I would greatly tolerate it as the story is really worth to read if you love sweet and deep feelings interactions between MC and ML. But yes, you need to bear with the emotionless and that shallow feeling in the few chapters.

For the translators review, I could only give 2, 5 stars as it is only tad bit better than MTL. Also, the chapters are broken down into 2-3 chapters in every one chapters of original book and idk if it's because the translation or not, but again, the flow in the first few chapters are not so good and it is not well-connected.

Overall, the book is worth your shot and I do feel the idea of this novel is unique and beautiful :) <<less

This is not Mango approved, but this is a damn good read. Unfortunately, it is actually a terrific series which has been packaged with fillers and meaningless dilutions. Despite this, it manages to score a solid 4 in my book.

Let's first go with the obvious negatives: showbiz. There actually is so little of real showbiz, and instead, it is just about pleasing the keyboard warriors. The series is also very slow in its plot progression, as I can see this getting dragged on forever by meaningless drama which will come... more>> up later, as part of the backstory of both protagonists. Really, that drama is unnecessary when the author has actually succeeded in creating such a sublime romance.

The romance between the protagonists is the real highlight of this series. For once, it is not a Beauty and the Beast spinoff, as the male lead is actually endlessly likeable while also being cold and unique. While the female lead might seem bland, her dynamic with the male lead and her gradual character development is noteworthy. Their relationship truly matures in a wonderful fashion, except when the author wants to add filler.

What do I mean by filler? These are scenes which can be as long as 50 chapters. They drag down the pace aof their relationship, and the drama elements haven't even properly kicked in even after 152 chapters. While predictable, the read itself is quite enjoyable.

The mechanic of spending money is used very well, and this mechanic is handled carefully, instead of simply converting it into a gimmick. It is explored and understood. Unfortunately, the beauty of the female lead does become a gimmick. A gimmick which can sometimes extend for chapters.

The antagonists persist while being stuck in their dimension. There is no real angst or comedy elements so far, and I hope they don't get included as well.

Ideally, this should have been a purely romance novel with hints of drama. Unfortunately, the author couldn't take the bold move and thus, this is going to end up as a work better than the average one.

Not a work which is Mango approved. <<less

Not gonna lie, this story is kinda boring. The idea is refreshing at first but the repetitive plot of conflict, argument, and solution are ruining it.

The author have a talent to transform a 2 second brain monologue into a 2 chapter full of unecessary description of feelings and despair when in reality it's just 2 second like- that's the moment I know that there's no redemption on this one..

And the balant description of ML handsomeness of blah blah blah is really turning me off. I really could careless if he... more>> was eating soup using his slender white attractive left wrist 🙃

Also, can the author try not to make the villainess as cliche as possible? Like, yeah I get it, Sheng Man is vapid, arrogant, s*upid fake daughter, but to copy her character and paste it to every side female characters... Ugh... And don't get me start on the villain or supposed 'ML of original novel', can he even be called ori-ML? The use of 'bad guys' character just to highlight the MC & ML beauty, wealth, talent, etc is boring. There's no point of MC & ML defeating the 'bad guys' cause they were already ruining themselves. There's no stimulating directory between MC/ML and those villains interactions.

There's no character growth either in both ML & MC. No skill growth or whatsoever even after nearly half of the novel. Kinda get the feeling that this novel is just a mash up of several popular entertainment novel with some tweaks and additions.

Might just drop this cause I could be reading sth more interesting than reading one more description about the ML deep dark black attractive eyes 🙂 (ngl I'm kinda harsh in this review but I was just so disappointed, even with the cliche plot, if author refine each characters of the novel, the plot and trajectory could be much much better) <<less

After chapter 49 I kinda stopped, I believe, MC and ML characteristics have changed.

Earliest chapters, we are presented with a strong woman who transmigrated to a novel, and willing to survive by helping ML. At first, she doesnt want ML help in doing her job as actress. Then she will get help and she will be dependent on him.

At the beginining ML doesnt care for her, just the usual overbearing ML. After few chapters, he'll..... feel he is attracted to her and she is very good. I'm confused.

And the way... more>> they deal with the whole 'spend money to prevent disasters' is...... why would they not ask for detail of this spend money before she spends money?? And the whole disasters will come at ML is very weird too.

I dont know, maybe because I jsut dont like fast romance and unreasonable reason to like someone story.

Reading from review, there something with two transmigrated characters, and back to original world. I dont know abt that, havent gotten that part yet.

All that based on mtl, I'll wait the translation, and will edit my rating and review then. <<less

The Plot is great just a few things a bit confusing.

The Characters were fine just needs slightly more character development.

Four stars because the idea of spending someone's money to prevent bad stuff to the ML has somewhat similar plot to the novel "Spending the Villain's Money to Extend My Life"

A pretty materialistic story - MC has to spend millions almost everyday so as to give some luck to the ML - there's a lot of descriptions of branded items. The main antagonist also loves showing off 'her' wealth. And there's lots and lots of online comments/discussions on who's bag or jewelry is more expensive... Considering she grew up as a rich heiress, one would imagine she would have self-knowledge on what dress/makeup looks best on her - but nope, she always loses to MC by either wearing a gaudy... more>> dress or too 'thick'/'vulgar' make-up...

Other mini-antagonists are also boring one-dimensional, brainless people (especially women)... Places like Paris/California/Dubai are like their backyards... they can go anytime on a whim-throw their weight around and come back before dinner...

Romance is ok, with both MC and ML gradually falling in love, but since they signed a marriage 'contract', they have this hot-n-cold (s) he likes me/ (s) he likes me not... Richest family members all easily accept her because they love ML so much, and MC's a lucky charm for ML! By Ch-50s, story is getting monotonous...

The netizens are too much - 'Oh, MC's looking at our idol, let's go and curse her on Weibo'...I get it that stars have to give their fans face and such, but it's taken to an extreme here... These people are so easily influenced by the 'water army', they are ready to curse people at the drop of a hat...

Translations are ok - but chapters are cut up too much - 65 translated chapters barely cover 20 original chapters... <<less
