A transmigration & xianxia combo that tries to break expectations and parody traditional xianxia texts. I absolutely adore the MC, she is one of my favorite characters ever in C-novels, hands down. A lot of repeat rebirth MCs are out for revenge and very quickly turn into dubious moral characters, or have inconsistent characterizations and plot development. This story is not like that! The MC's morals remain an integral part of her character and she's immediately able to poke holes into standard set-ups of cultivation worlds. The story progresses completely... more>> naturally and logically; very satisfying read.

Although this is a parody with many twists, readers who like xianxia would definitely like this as well. I highly recommend if you're tired of cliches or imbalanced relationship. This story is ultimately about the MC and how she overcomes her tasks and difficulties. The ML is great too, but he doesn't become the center of her universe after getting together (no way?!).

Also, great translator. Xianxia is quite difficult to translate, so good job making it a smooth read. <<less

This was utterly boring.

Sure there were some passages that were fun, but the overall story was lacking. The MC kept on reincarnating, and she has an overbearing personality. The romance here was slack, and my heart didn't feel the least bit moved. I'm at chapter 270, hoping that it would actually progress in a more exciting way... However, yet again she's reincarnated as someone else.

It just feels as if the author found many stories, and piled them up together while keeping the characters as is.

I saw that a lot of... more>> people loved this so, I gave it a try hoping I'd feel the same. But it's been 1 and a half day that I've been reading this non-stop, and I'm thinking of quitting. The romance, the whole of the story is just too unbearable.
So yeah. Cheers. <<less

This is one of my favorite novels found via novelupdates. You can't take it too seriously (I mean, it's a parody...) but if you're just looking for some light reading to pass the time, this is a good one. It's pretty funny, makes fun of a lot of transmigration tropes, and still has a pretty dramatic plot. The translation quality is really good as well.

Love, LOVE, LOOOVE this series!

This one has all the tropes but so wonderfully parodies them and makes them its own. The MC's internal dialogues are hilarious and thoroughly enjoyable. Her one liners and cussing will make you laugh out loud. She is one of my favourite female leads - feisty, direct and funny. Truth be told, I found her cussing strangely relatable (coming from an asian culture, its not too rare to find people, esp older folks, swear like this; makes it funnier for me).

The male lead is strong, clueless... more>> and just adorbs af. Story wise, it is filled with cliches but the unveiling/circumstances behind the different deaths keep you interested.

The translator is doing a wonderful job as well. I had to go machine translate the raws because I just couldn't wait. Obviously, the M-TL did it no justice tsk tsk and I felt I would be missing out on the nuances that really make this an enjoyable series. So I will just calmly wait for the english translation.

In all, an effortless and undoubtedly enjoyable read! 5 stars. <<less

I have just finished reading the translations up to current chapter within a day, and just have to write a review to show how much I was enraptured! First of all, the story. I love this story, in which it shows how much the author actually thought out of the story instead of the current trend in which most xianxia and wuxias are having typically the same recipe.I still enjoyed them too, though but this novel brought a different kind of attraction. The story does not really on fortuitous encounters... more>> or amazing level up just to progress the plot but actual plot. Talking about the characters, I loved the MC in which she is funny and witty. The master is also dangerously adorable, with his affection towards his disciple. ♥♥ I mean, gosh, I want a master like that too!

The downside is that, the character backgrounds were not really properly established especially the MC. Although, this may also be counted as a good point as the author did not dwell on unnecessary stuffs just to increase the chapter counts. Anyway, I absolutely recommend this novel for anyone!! <<less

One of my favorites! Earth MC dropped to Xianxia world with spiritual energy and stuff, gifted with reincarnation cheat. Whole story is from the MC's pov about the world and characters.

Spoiler

MC meets boy with dark past, cheats and harems... Main character of a Xianxia novel?? Jk it's a bug. A bug if left alone will destroy the entire system (world). Btw, the ship between MC and her master has reached its destination hehehehehe

[collapse]

Excellent comedy and retorts and from relatable MC who is against killing. She maybe weak at first but she's got other cheats alright.

Basically whole story is about MC who dies while trying to neutralize bugs and her OP Master who picks her up every time she reincarnates. <<less

Seriously, the most hilarious xianxia parody story I ever read!

This web novel combine misunderstood comedy and xianxia setting perfectly. I especially like how the MC is a funny girl protagonist with loose mouth lol. At first, she start as naive & s*upid girl. But, after died a lot, she get better and become more like able (bad ass and tyrant if I may add lol). More over, the interaction between MC and other character is so good and funny it make me laugh very hard. For example, the interaction between... more>> MC and her Teacher is so revolting I can keep my mouth to LOL (the reverse gender bender *caugh*). And the weird thing is, every time the MC died, the story get fresh and the characters getting develop decently.

The bad is, the author assume the reader have prior knowledge about xianxia a.k.a Chinese immortal cultivator troupe. If you don’t have prior knowledge, like me as I started to read it, you will get confused easily by the setting and power level since the author give minimum xianxia exposition. But you know, I read “serious” xianxia (I Shall Seal The Heaven) together with this story which make me fill the void. Surprisingly, it make me more appreciate joke in My Disciple Died Yet Again.

Anyway, if you like misunderstand story or want to get refreshed after non stop battle in “proper” xianxia web novel, I highly recommended this story! <<less

The story is good. Both the MC and her master has their weaknesses highlighted (MC's idiocy and Yu Yan's lack of common sense) which provided the comic relief. Somehow, there are some serious matter but because of the point of view used, it's almost unnoticeable.

To sum it up, this is a transmigration novel where MC goes to another world to fix a "bug (s) " there. This "bug" is similar to error in a program, however in this case, the "bug" is mostly an actual living being in a real world. Sometimes MC dies while fighting the "bug" and she reincanates to different avatar almost all the time.

Spoiler

Avatar 1: her original body from modern world

Avatar 2: baby girl

Avatar 3: a male

Avatar 4: a dragon

Avatar 5: jade spirit

Avatar 6: Yin Xin (daughter of Fluorescent Wind Sect Master)

  • Egg
  • Phoenix / Black Tortoise descendant

Avatar 7: demonic tree

Avatar 8: ghost

  • Demigod of Forgotten God Palace Sect

Avatar 9: demonic dandelion grandma

Avatar 10: Ling Tian / dragon scale

Avatar 11: original body / divine sword

[collapse]

Although the story itself is fresh and not common, I feel like it should end at 200++ chapters because after that, the "bug" type and the plot is kind of repetitive (ex: Mary Sue type "bug").

ML is a cold man who is lack of common sense and also lack of emotion. He only shows some emotions towards his only disciple, MC. Meanwhile, MC is more "real". She's my type of strong female lead: she's kind but not dumb, she's straightforward, she has a clear conscience, and she's not a Mary Sue type who has a peerless beauty. I know she's not perfect but somehow I still couldn't agree to some of her actions.

Spoiler
  1. MC has many chances to bring the first "bug", Xiao Yi, down but she choose to act benevolent. Her action not only cost her 2 lifes, but also Wang Xuzhi's life.
  2. MC awares of Wang Xuzhi's feeling for her. Although she states that his feeling towards her only a feeling between brother and sister, she rather treats Xuzhi's feeling as a joke and only has a serious talk about it after he becomes a ghost.
  3. I also hate what Wu Song did to Yu Luo, but to have entire Azureflight Sect bear the consequences is kind of cruel.
  4. Her treatment towards Yue Ying. I know she's busy trying to save the world but since she decides to raise Yue Ying, why doesn't she raise him properly like other child that she raise? She often leave him without proper explanation although she knows about his obsession towards her. It almost cost Wang Xuzhi's (ghost) life and her soul is almost scattered. But I'm happy because in the end she doesn't stop helping him to stand with his own feet.
[collapse]

This novel has many side characters but not all of their ending are explained in the end of the story. I want to know more about them, but author instead added more characters and thus forget about the past characters.

Spoiler

One of the plot hole:

When MC becomes a dragon, she encounters higher realm deities who want to bring back "concubine" Yue to higher realm. So whose concubine Yue Hanxin is for his accomplices to have such a strong talisman as World Purification Sacred Talisman? He must be someone powerful but no one mention him again later even when MC in higher realm.

I don't know where I can begin to explain this story haha. It's honestly just so random and wild.

Gotta say that the story highlight lies in the MC though. I simply love her character, not just by personality, but the fact that she has common sense. The MC isn't someone who you would consider smart, like the scheming types, but she's someone who makes rational decisions (which for some reason is soso rare in fiction?)

Take for example the common tropes:

    • Person pretends that you pushed them down on the streets and demands your apology or else they will fight blah blah. Rather than going the normal route of being like "ohoho and then reverse unoing them by displaying your secret hidden power", the MC just straight up apologizes and leaves. No unnecessary drama, a more realistic action, and SO MUCH MORE SATISFYING
    • Person tries to "accidentally" kill/harm you in a competition. Common cliche response would be to for the MC to say some sort of monologue for winning the tournament, yk like "I have a dream... I cant lose here!!!" that kind of cringey talk. Well you can spare yourselves because the MC is actually logical and can put down her pride to just forfeit.
So yeah, much better responses that will save you from cringing. Exception:

Spoiler

Exception is the way that the MC treats Yue Ying. But he's kinda a complex case I suppose.

[collapse]

Otherwise though, I'm really satisfied with the way she deals with everything.

Aside from the MC, the other characters are super funny and supportable as well. ESPECIALLY REALMSPIRIT HES SUCH A FREAKING TROLL AND I LOVE HIM FOR THAT LOL. I don't exactly ship the MC and her master, but I don't hate it either (I feel they are more platonic). Not very romantic, but their interactions are really funny.

However, with all that said, I wouldn't recommend this for everyone. For instance, if you want something that is really deep, tragic, or romance inclined, this is not the book for you. Judging by the synopsis, you can pretty much tell that this is a comedy/adventure/action type. In that aspect though, its probably one of the best I've seen. Kinda gives me gintama vibes lol.

You already know this is unique when 5 chapters in the protagonist goes off and roasts every high ranked cultivator in a high ranked sect as a mortal. I was literally crying it is too funny, the premise and story seem good as well.

For best reading experience, lay down all hopes of character growth. Just be content and enjoy the comedy and comedy only.

3 stars is for the laughs I had and appreciation to author and translator’s hardwork.

MC will forever and always retain her peaceful modern mentality. Forever and always be reborn in a unique body. Forever and always be cultivating all over again but because of protagonist halo will be strong af easily. Forever and always be needing her master’s help and protection. Forever and always be reluctant to killing bug despite... more>> all the nonsensical evil and harm they bring unto numerous people. Forever and always be dying.

All despite living in the cultivation world for thousands of years.

I guess her peaceful modern mentality is supposed to be her strong point, but imo in the cultivation world its just hypocrisy. Not entirely though as its worth saluting that she still places importance to people’s lives (except hers cause she keeps seeking death) . But she needs to learn to be ruthless at times
Spoiler

(like how she unhesitatingly cut beastie’s tail for a very trivial purpose). Because I was really hoping for her to at least realise this when Wang Xuzhi died. But I guess he died for nothing else besides being MC’s sadness sometimes. RIP to Wang Xuzhi.

[collapse]

Moreover, I really hate that she belittles her death just because she knows she would be reborn. I really pity the companions she had before her death thats clueless about her being able to be reborn.

Well, theres a lot more I’m dissatisfied about like how she’s very dismissal to other’s good feelings but if I specify them all then I’d just be wasting more time here bye <<less

My personal rating: 5/5

This is actually my first time to give a review to a book here and the reason for this is that this book is just that amazing!

Firstly, I believe the story has a well rounded plotline. This story was not just focused on typical cultivation like other CN novels but it actually gave a lot more meaning to it. The story absolutely have a lot of life lessons to give. This is why I concluded that this story is indeed amazing because not only it was fun... more>> to read (because of the rom com aspect) but because it provided a lot of life lessons to the readers once you comprehend about it.

Secondly, this novel would not be possible for me to read if it wasn't for the translator. The translation for this story is really first rate! I can say the translation was so smooth that it did not affect the story in a bad way (cause sometimes translations affects the readers feelings about the book). Also, the footnotes provided was really helpful!

All in all, I must say that this book is definitely a must read!

Thank you for the author for writing this book and for the translators and editors who gave me the opportunity to be able to read this book!

-Lots of love from this reader! <<less

A sweet novel mixed with a bit of comedy and plot. The premise of going to another world as an actual normal person makes a whole world of difference for the novel. Unlike the typical "I will kill everyone that stands in my way" or "I will repay you ten-fold" the MC values life and her own ideals. It shows how strange it is that other MCs end up killing people a month in to their journey. Her wish to not kill anyone while also refusing to be walked over... more>> creates some amusing moments and interactions with other characters. The ML is the cold oblivious type, but his character develops across the story so that he gradually realises his feelings for her. Their romance isn't blown up or in your face which I appreciate. All the characters have their own small quirks, but they all seem to end up becoming lifelong friends with the MC. Ironically, despite all the Mary Sues and Gary Stus the MC interacts with she herself feels like the ultimate cheat, albeit in a more subtle way. <<less

I do think the story reached the expectation set when people hype it as a well translated comedy story as I could understand most of the puns. The story could be considered well developed and likeable.

As a reader there are definitely things that I don't like and agree to such as the fact that I consider Zyu Yao to be too childish and impulsive. She would try to avoid people and topics that make her uncomfortable to the point she became unreasonable to me.

I LOVE IT

This is one of the most memorable xianxia novels I've ever read, and I've read hundreds. The characters are funny and unique, their quirky actions and personalities begin to make sense as the story connects later on. Instead of seeing that one character for an ark and then saying bye bye like usual, these side characters actually appear again and all play a significant role that shapes the story. These characters are relatable and you can actually understand them (I'm not including all those ridiculous mary sues and... more>> bugs). The story is light hearted yet can be quite serious at times while making sense (near the end, cause I understood almost nothing during the first and second ark). The MC is the best ever and her reincarnations are VERY original (100% random). This novel makes me came back for more, forgetting the fact that it ended already, so I have to settle for rereading it (T^T). But being able to relive the moments of bursting into laughter while reading makes me very happy. <<less

This novel is definitely one that I will never hesitate to recommend. Its one of my favorite novel. The story is so funny and hilarious. It will make you cry sometimes and the characters are relatable. They are humanlike. Specially Zhu Yao. She has flaws. She accepts her mistakes and correct them in her way.

Its really a good novel. Heck, for me its one of the best webnovel that I've read so far.

It really is a wonderful story. It has great comedy unique and lovable characters and stories that will make you want to pour your heart out. The Romance starts slow initially but at some point it accelerated to the climax really quickly. It is worth the read as the MC goes and fixes bugs while trying to see who is sending her on these missions and trying to see when they will end.

One of the main reasons this is getting a four and not a five is due to the fact while she admonishes others for their mistakes and actions for acting out of anger she doesn't realize that she's doing the same thing to Yue Ying as of the latest chapters.

Update: I've dropped this novel because I'm fed up with her actions towards Yue Ying. <<less
