Wow never thought I’ll ever review in this site but two words describe this story BS. I had every urge to throw my phone with how pathetic the MC is. The only saving grace here is Philip. Honestly she and her family was killed and she still can’t properly stay away from the man because he’s Handsome?!!! What kind of Sh** is that? I’ve read many and almost every kind villainess story in novelupdates and she is the worst FL I’ve read.

These stars are only for the translator’s effort and... more>> for the character of Philip. Other than that it’s just plain horrible. <<less

As usual, my reviews may contain slight spoilers, so please skim or skip if you wish to read this with fresh eyes. This may or may not be updated/changed in the future depending on story or character development.

I like the protagonist. I like the protagonist.

Man, it's been a long time since I've seen a fatally and intentionally flawed protagonist. I definitely don't agree with her views or judgmental outlook, but it just means there's room for her to improve. Now if you've seen my other reviews, you'll know how much... more>> I detest fat-shaming. More often than not, an author imposes their views on body standards through their characters and assumes that the readers will be on the protagonist's side. Here? Not so much. Sophia is well aware of her flaws, admits it blatantly, and treats her friend in a way true to her personality. She's a likable unlikable protagonist! (I'm sure hoping for some character development, because that'll be sure to raise my rating.)

The downfalls, however, includes the main love interest. Sure, I get why our flawed protagonist likes him, but he still feels too much like a cardboard cutout of all the main love interests in 90% of this LN genre. Also, the tone kind of clashes - the seriousness of her situation mixed with her and her friend's easy acceptance of her fate. This is a comedy, so maybe it'll work for the better in later chapters.

Aside from that, the translations are great. It flows smoothly and stays true to its original source, so I have no complaints with both the writing style and the translations themselves. There isn't much out yet, but there's nothing to lose to try it out. This is a hit-or-miss; maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't. <<less

As a short story, it's a great read. Many details are glossed over, but it's a short story, so I can understand why it is so. This feels more like a story proposal for a longer series, in which it succeeds as.

Sophia is highly likable, but her villainess side is so underwhelming as a component of this story. She truly is a happy go lucky girl; is this because she was reincarnated or was she like this from the start? At least she's understanding. We first notice that she is... more>> able to see Phillip as a true friend, despite not living up to her beauty standards. She understands that her beauty standards are unreasonable, too. I find her attractive as a character because of these traits.

Like other users mentioned, the other characters are quite undeveloped, but this is a short story that chose to sacrifice details and development to churn out an idea. It was a good read despite this, too. Highly enjoyable and might reread it in the future.

The ending was well done. Not much to say about it, but that it was really sweet. Overall, the ending wraps up the story and it feels adequate as a short story, although this novel could easily write for 50+ chapters. <<less

Sounds promising.

Eventhough I already labeled the MC as someone sick in the head by just reading the synopsis, I'm still agog to read the struggles that she'll put up against the face of her past love. I'm kinda hoping that they won't end up together, no matter what the reason of the Duke have when he killed her in her first life, and crossing my fingers to have another man who'll stick for her.

Clichè yes, but whtvr, I just need a random novel to fill up my time.

I'm giving it... more>> a neutral rating because based on what I read on the synopsis, the MC's dumb by being attracted to her and her family's mu*derer. Who the hell in their right mind would be so? And really, I'm just bored.

Will edit the ff. Further as the chapters pile up:

•char. Development

•do they, the chars, used their brains?

•etc.

- - - - - -

It's dumb. Will drop. <<less

It’s a decent short story but not very deep. I will admit everyone besides the MC are very underdeveloped and even the MC’s “as long as your happy” line from her previous life ring kinda shallow. It could be due to length because it cuts out many details but overall if you take the story at face value it’s decent. I will say that the MC has quite refreshing, an unrepentant face-con with a dynamic personality, I liked her the best out of this entire story.

A decent yet foolish one shot. I rated it as 3 as it was very hard for me to read someone having no ptsd from seeing the man that killed her and her family because she is into handsome ikemen.

MC was surely different. She was full of flaws (especially her tendency to like a man who was good looking as a husband like her past fiance, Phyllis) but not to the point of being unlikable.

I also think that she was a bit s*upid because she was still tempted by Phyllis even though he killed her in her past life but I'm glad she still had her logic in the end.

And the ending really surprised me a bit.

Contain major spoiler of this story.

Spoiler

Thank God she didn't end up with Phyllis again and Philip was out of friend zone. I thought MC's love for good looking face was incurable but I'm glad she still knew what was more important and chose someone who she was comfortable with to be her lifetime partner.

Loved this story. MC is not the typical "perfect" princess. She is the highly flawed, looks at handsome people for love only sort of a person (like most of us). She knows it, accepts it and continues to try and change this. Just as a rebirth cannot suddenly drive away arachnophobia, rebirth didn't make MC automatically immune to her 'weakness' of handsome faces.

ML is not bad. A good friend turned to lover I guess. We don't know what he really thinks about MC though. The story ends at - love... more>> will develop as years go by rather than an unbelievable instant love-obsession. <<less

If youre not against stubborn, blind to the truth, FLs due to some standards; be my guest. Im used to people like that for various reasons 😂 but its a good read.

Typical JP style shonen romance though. Not a shoujo. Shonen. I rarely encountered FLs in shoujo or joseis with this much stubborness and tenacity to their ideals, unless its a shonen. The writing style too of the scenarios and dialogues are pretty shonen-ish.

The fact as well that Philip, the true ML, is a not so pretty and chubby boy.... more>> Yeah, male physical inferiority complex, but has the brains to compensate. Shonen. <<less

MC is a refreshing sort of MC.

I think people who are too hard about the MC's weakness are either someone with no flaw (which is impossible), has no awareness of said flaw, or are too kind to themselves when it comes to their own flaws. After all, it's one thing to know about one's shortcomings, it's another to do something about it. The latter is hard to do you know... because it's a matter of will. If it's easy, why do you think it's hard for people to change? Why... more>> do you think so many people fail to lose weight, get better grades, be more organized, or whatever goal they have? Do you honestly think they don't know what they should do? Nope, that's often not the case at all. Just because they know the right thing they should do, doesn't mean they can bring themselves to actually do it.

Hence I think it's great that the MC is unusual in the sense that she is very realistic in dealing with her weakness. Because she has no delusion regarding her weakness, she realized it'd be extremely difficult for her to directly fight it so she mostly chose the evasion technique whenever she's attacked. This is how I deal with some of my problems or weaknesses too.

For example, I am quite irresponsible when it comes to money-spending. If I see that I have a lot of money, then it's hard for me to control the urge to spend it (because I have a lot of things and services I'd like to buy or get) even when I know I'd be in big trouble if I overspend it. In order to avoid that, the moment I get the money, I would immediately spend it on the essentials. This is what I call a hit and run. After that, I would immediately put some of it on savings which is in another account that is pretty difficult to access. This is an evasion technique known as "If I can't see it, I won't be able to spend it". In the end, only the extra spending money would be left in the main bank account which is easily accessible. Since the money left to spend is not that much and the essentials are already paid, the damages done due to such an unhealthy desire to spendthrift is immediately minimized.

The ML seems a little bit too perfect though even without a great appearance.

MC realized this too so she can't help but berate herself for her weakness. Luckily, it is a happy ending so she finally gets past his look in the end.

All in all, I think it's a refreshing-to-read short story. <<less

5 stars for Philip, haha.

It's pretty predictable, but I kept hoping there might be some kind of twist. It's not bad for a short story, but it's only at the level of a decent short story.

short and sweet! Perhaps a bit bland, this works ok in the oneshot format. Translation and formatting is super smooth.
