Can I just say I freaking love this novel? I finished this novel in like one day because it's that engaging and angsty.

Also, the people who are leaving negative reviews because ML is a scum, READ THE TAGS.

It's a dog-blood novel and the story itself is tragic. You'll hate the ML, Yan Mingxiu, at the beginning but in the end, you'll end up feeling sorry for him. The MC is not helpless and he doesn't forgive the ML easily. Their relationship development is good as well. This is the book which makes me a fan of the author. Too bad all jjwxc link of her was locked.

This book definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. I also delay to read this for a long time because I don’t like this type of angst. But booy, his book makes me appreciate dogblood story.

ML is scum, but he was loyal. All author’s ML is typical scum who later realize their mistakes and try to make it right. The angst is painful, but the satisfaction of looking at our MC... more>> trample the scum ML and make him kneel begging for him, is satisfying. I guess this is why people like dogblood drama.

Author’s greatest charm is the way she depict her characters and the scene. The line is easy to read but also beautiful. I do understand if some ppl don’t like this kind of story, but it didn’t justify why you only rate this 1 star. The tags were there.

Anyway, try give this story a chance, and wish for people who like dogblood story appreciate this gem more and more. <<less

This is soap opera done right.

All the cliches are there but the complicated emotions were so carefully explored that one just can't help but stick to the end.

The HE was definitely worth the angst but I believe that this is for more mature readers.

Ultimately a good read, I re-read it once. I love the angst and all the misunderstandings that makes me get the feels while reading. What make me assured the most is that I knew for a fact that the MC love the ML and the ML love the MC. It was so obvious right from the beginning. I think this novel is more suitable for mature readers. Although from many opinions, the ML may be tr*shy but from as far as I can tell,

he love the MC from the very beginning (he just didn't know). He was young, human, and makes mistakes. I find that it is all reasonable. He just didn't know that he love the MC and it was a confusing phase for him. Firstly I don't think there's anything wrong with treating MC as a substitute in this story (if you think otherwise this story might be a difficult read for you), this is because they started off as fkbuddies. I think that since both party established that relationship then it's ok. However the r/s became unbalanced when one falls in love and knowing that he is treated as a substitute is just too much to bear (obviously). The only part I didn't really like about the substitute part is that even though ML already knows he love someone, he can separate his physical needs and fk someone he don't love. But this is just my thing, is not a huge NONO to me. So if its a huge NONO for you I suggest you give this a skip.

TLDR; Cut him some slack guys.

Is a heartrending and satisfying read, and while I feel like the ending is a little rushed, but it is overall a good read. No complains about the smutty scenes as well, those are delicious.

🟢 Suitable for those who like plots, angst and misunderstandings, character growth, papapa scenes.
🔴 Not suitable for those who think the ML is tr*sh. And can't accept characters with different morals from what you believe in. This might make it diffuclt for you to read.

when he liked ML he really did every thing he could to keep ML with him and he even wanted begged to ML so he didnt break up with him but when he found out that he was a superseded he gived up all the plans and broke up with him. I really like his proud and Self-esteem and after ML fell in love with him and begged him to return he didn't accept easily.

in other way I really hated ML At the age of 20 . he's a selfish and spoiled child and really annoying.

i mean im 21 too but as a 20 years old boy he's really childish and he was living in foreigner country too so he shouldnt be someone like this. I mean you, at the age of 20, really couldnt say that you like someone?when you feel comfort with him when you want to be with him many years or when you annoyed to see him with someone else, what the mining all of this? even 15 years old child know that. but ML didnt say anything to him when MC cryed for his love and said at least you like me a little what ML said? nonsense:/ and lets see after 3 years when MC dead he said he liked him and all of his doing was for MC. who would believe this?

if he said to MC that he liked him a little not that much or when that bit*h called him and asked him to keep him at home didnt tell him that bit*h is better than him or explain to him his emotion, did MC really run away from home? he just wanted a family.

and WanYuDong... its a little compliacted. he isnt like other villains that have a worse life that MC. he really has a better life than MC so I dont really understand him.. why should he do dirty things with such a good life? and wants to ruin MC's ptitful life? why would he be jealous? he is really s*upid.

This story is really irritating because of the misunderstandings. At first I hate the male lead for his s*upidity, but as the story goes on it getting better because he is repenting his mistake earnestly. The best thing I like about this is the MC, because he is not like typical soft-hearted uke who forgive the ML easily. Overall, it's a good novel !

I want to give it a five star, I really want to.... but... I was a little unsatisfied with both ML and MC. It felt really painful for me, like a heart-wrenching pain. I didn't like the way how ML solved their problems and I didn't like MC's suspicion in ML although his suspicion is both valid and reasonable, if only they both knew how to be honest to each other from the start it wouldn't bring any pain to the two of them and us readers.

It was angsty, really... more>> really painful. It felt like they were being played around by fate, relishing in their pain and suffering. Honestly, I skipped some of the chapters because the angst was just too much for me. The misunderstandings and dishonesty between them was especially painful to bear. There was a lot of if only throughout the novel. I won't make a big deal out of the r*pe because it is clearly tagged and was prepared for it.

I know both of them, especially ML, wants to remedy their relationship and start over again and they both deserve it. In the end they got their Happy Endings.

So, my fellow rotten girl, if you're into angst with a little bit of dog blood drama and a nice plot, this novel is suitable for you but if you're into fluff, makes a big deal out of r*pe although it is clearly tagged and have a fragile heart, my dear, you still have the time to get out. <<less

I really like this book because the angst is there, the redemption (maybe??) is there but the culprit for this entire fiasco between MC & ML wasn’t punished enough.

Young ML saw a movie that had MC as the stuntman and fell in love but because it didn’t credit MC, ML thought it was the actor. So he followed the actor around everywhere etc, making him being manipulated by the actor to harm MC later in the story. All these indirectly caused MC to die then reborn again.

That still don’t change that he was an as*hole to MC.

The turn towards HE was a little too sudden but it’s still acceptable for me. I just want to see the culprit punished properly for his actions : ( <<less

This story wasn't disappointing, as usual, the author wrote another masterpiece.

The recycle life of Zhang is funny and both pitiful. Imagine facing same thing in another life😁

I really love what The couple had, it wasn't an easy journey for them. Even me as a reader, felt many emotions..😭

my favorite part is the MC’s personality. He’s very down to earth.

everything else is ok. The ML is occasionally sweet.

I like how the author portrayed the difficulty in Chinese parents and family accepting their son being gay.

i cried so hard so many times that my eyes legit turned red.

Great translation.

The story has a lot of angst and melodrama. Also, can anyone fall in love with someone's back?!......

What I dislike the most is the ending. Yes its a HE. But its not really resolved. The ML's grandfather is of the opinion that they don't need to deal with the situation because he thinks the MC and ML being so young will eventually fall out. But what about a few years later? Will they go through the same ordeal? The ML's mom has changed sides though....

I like the author style specially when you want some pain and pleasure at the same time. I have read 3 novel of this writer where I could feel anger, smile, disappointment, and many more things that I usually don't experience in real life.

It is good I hope I could see more work like this with a better plot.

I am totally against MC forgiving ML. That was unhealthy relationship they had in the beginning - incl. ML being jealous, selfish, kind of raping MC once - and I do not believe that people change their ways. Even if someone treats everyone except you as rubbish believe me there will be one day this person will treat you the same. So... for the story sake, ML changed but irl such things do not happen.

This novel is so incredibly sad that it can make you cry throughout it. And also there is so much drama and I think that I'm not the only sucker for it. There are so many misunderstandings that you know as a reader but the characters don't and it just had me screaming.

The story isn't really focused on any other plot other than the romance between the main characters, so it should be purely read as a romance novel.

Btw a warning: the ML is a fking as*hole that I think... more>> everyone agrees on. But that's acceptable because
-the MC knows that and shows it
-it adds to the drama
-the author doesn't romanticise his toxic behavior.

Just read it and have a good cry. <<less

If you love to read dumb seme that realized his feeling after the uke is gone—you will love this. HAHAHAHA.

I seriously feel like to punch the ML at first. Like bruh, wake the f*ck up! And the MC... ah, the MC is a cinnamon roll, like a spicy cinnamon roll?
But in the end, you will feel bad for the ML. Like, both MC and ML is suffered.

Just read. The plot is good and did not make you bored.
I finished this story only a few days.

I love this story so much. It similar to the story You’ve Got Mail: A Cautionary Tale. ZhouXiang is in love with his lover so much; he became clingy. While his lover just used him as a substitute and not sure he love ZhouXiang back. The story is straight forward, tells about the couple a lot, there is misunderstood, and twist and turn. It talk about ZhouXiang past life before he got new ZhouXiang body. This definitely need be read.

Dont start if you cant bear the emotional abuse because this story is very addictive and well writed.

The plot is quite good. The characters are also good. I like the MC . But its a story full of misunderstanding and regrets. And sprinkled in with one or two dubious consent s*x.

The relationship is quiet toxic so read af your own violation.

The story itself can be given a 3.75/5, but the writing is a dismal 2/5.

Let me first vent my grievances about the writing, and then I'll proceed to talk about the story.

What irked me the most is that the author has the tendency to use the most sexist ways to describe characteristics she deems unflattering. For instance, the author will say, 'He wasn't a scheming woman' or 'he didn't want to act like a girl.' It looks like the author either doesn't have a rich vocabulary or has a very... more>> prejudiced opinion of women. It was grating to read these parts. Now, coming to the flow, it gets very melodramatic and feels absurd to the point of being comical. Also, smut scenes were described as if a 14-year-old wrote them. Who says 'warm meat hole' and 'tall met pole'? I mean, come on!

Okay, now that my grievances have been aired, let's talk about the story.

This is a good crematorium novel with a fair amount of dog blood. Is the ML scum in the beginning? Yes. Does he atone for his past wrongdoings? Also, yes. Was I, as a reader, able to forgive him? Yes.

In a major part, I was able to forgive the ML because he was 21 years old when the story began. He is childish, immature, exacting, stubborn, and doesn't know how to regulate or understand his feelings. Also, he isn't very deceptive; he's just plain cold. So, some of the blame lies with the MC for not catching on sooner. The MC is by no means a simpleton, but in matters of the heart, he feels a bit dense. It was also hard to understand why some side characters were obsessed with the MC.

Overall, this story will keep you hooked and probably consume you for a few days, but it won't stay with you afterwards. <<less
