You Liangxing would never open the speech function in game.

That was because his voice was…

Particularly! Kittenish!

But there was one day, he queued up with a teammate who had so much to say that they may as well explode. Vexed to the point of no return, he contributed a voice that was capable of splitting heaven and earth, “Don’t BB.”

The other party who was being scolded stilled. In the ensuing silence, he suddenly let out a long, relishing… moan.

You Liangxing: “…..”

Later —

He realised that the person was a great god,

Much later,

Without him realising,

He became the great god’s royal healer.

…. And also his boyfriend.

This is great if you just want a lovey dovey romance with 0 conflict, antagonists or climax.

The characters are genuinely likeable except MC who can be violent and rather rude. When ML teases MC, he gets irritated and he punches ML. Author tries to play it off as a couple fight but it’s quite horrifying if you think about it. And MC is clearly not playing around when he punches ML hard enough to leave a black eye. And the way MC coldly rebukes ML when he goes too far... more>> with his teasing...

But ML is absolutely charming. Would be perfect if he was 185-190cm instead but a tall beauty, with humour and a golden retriever personality? I really only stayed this long for ML. <<less

The translator here~

To briefly explain what this story is: it's a light-hearted read that spans a decent length, and while there is a shou (MC) and gong (ML), their relationship does not follow typical conventions where the ML shields the MC, etc. Rather, I love the novel simply because those lines are blurred, and the amount that they do to make the relationship work is about equal and palpable. Our MC, You Liangxing, is a serious, hardworking individual, whose voice does not match his appearance nor disposition and Kang Shengzhe... more>> (ML), is lazy by comparison and absolutely shameless, and also incongruous with his appearance.

While the romance is on the side of a slow burn, it makes up for it with its comedic moments, the side relationships (family and friends), and the hilarity that comes with the respective interactions. The main relationship builds off friendship and they are just... two people trying to find the groove of things and getting comfortable before they fully commit. And when they do, they don't let go~ It is a gaming novel fixated on an actual game called King's Glory (王者荣耀) and live broadcasting (or streaming).

Sincerely, I hope you will enjoy the novel as much as I am vested to translate this novel! <<less

It's a cute, feel good story about two people's road in love. Some points are pretty realistic, some doesn't.

ML is NOT a yandere, he's actually the golden retriever type ML. Kind of less reliable compared to MC but he have his strong point. He's super tall and have deep features (although it wasn't mentioned if he's mixed or not waso isn't sure)

MC is actually pretty much omnipotent except for his voice which was a milky lolita voice. He's very good at what he do, rich, handsome and he knows... more>> boxing. So if you compare him to ML, MC is more of an ML than ML himself lmao. It makes an interesting dynamics between them tho.

Spoiler

ACTUALLY MC IN LATER CHAPTERS WILL BECOME THE CEO lmao so it's like ML is being raised by MC lolol.

MC likes boxing and can beat ML up so no harassment here lmao

Their journey to love wasn't insta love but it began with curiosity, to sense of camaraderie, then realizing they want to be with this person their whole life which make this story superb. <<less

There's a lot of potential! The premise is really good and the translator has done a great job. There were no errors in grammar/spelling/punctuation/tenses or anything of the sort.

I can't say much about the story yet, but the writing is top notch due to the translator's hard efforts.

Pretty cute. But really uncomfortable with the “comedic” domestic violence. Like... instead of comforting gong when crying MC slaps him. And gong steals a kiss while he’s is sleeping and MC reflexively punches gong and knocks a tooth out. Which was an accident to be fair, and MC felt super guilty, but he didn’t really curb his punching and kicking after. (So no lesson learned there...) Like gong would shake thinking he’d be punched but was willing to accept it and then got kissed and my heart broke.

Being abusive isn’t... more>> a personality trait. It’s messed up. And yet I liked everything else about this story. Wish the violence wasn’t in there. : ( <<less

An interesting twist/premise: handsome and aloof shot x pretty and lazy gong. The translation is great (chrysanthemum garden is full of gems), there's a nice gaming-life balance, and the romance I see smoothly sailing.

However, somewhere along the way, it all goes to cr*p.

For one, despite the author's efforts (making MC directly state it), the supporting characters are annoying and 2D. Firstly, they only appear when the author wants them to, and, secondly, they're either one personality (faffing fans) or another (shocked spectators). Honestly, it's extremely rare to find, in this... more>> hundred-and-forty-chapter story, moments where any character uses their brain properly. Oh, right. I forgot about the only-ever-jealous antagonist. Or the boot-licking junior sister (the only non-family female character. Unsurprisingly, she likes MC).

For two, once MC let's ML kiss him, a flip seems to switch. The story just becomes a typical shameless gong with a helpless but thundered shou. The MC only has strength when the author wants him to injure ML to develop their relationship. That's not how life works, honey, and I just got annoyed.

For three, despite the smooth development of romance, it was waaaaaay too fast. Maybe it's because the chapters are short, but I felt no satisfaction at all when they confessed. Did they even confess? I have no idea — ML has been spending a while clowning himself ("MC is my handsome wife!1!1"), whilst MC literally doesn't communicate with ML ("Looking at ML diffuses my anger!1!1! Let's be overly indulgent and ignore boundaries!1!1!1").

For four, I expected so much better than the husband-wife trope. So they have a nice voices-are-deceiving twist. But MC literally slowly becomes a woman with a manly face.

All in all/TL;DR: I was so excited for a new style, only to be disappointed with the so-called "humour". This is more of a 3.5, but I think it's too overrated for me to rate 4. <<less

I like the personalities of the characters and the MC/ML have good chemistry. I don't, however, like LoL or its' clones, so the first sixty-plus chapters, which take place mostly in the game, started to get harder and harder to slog through as I continued reading. They finally met in person in ch60 or so but by then I lost a lot of my enthusiasm (I have the same problem with every LoL based game story, not just this one).

my OCD, however, didn't let me quit and once the two... more>> are together the story takes off and it's cute and fun and fluffy at times with no heavy drama or tragedy. I like that the traditional Chinese BL roles were mixed up and the usually rigid lines between gong and shou traits were blurred, and I'm really grateful that all the characters have a normal IQ (even the meathead 'sports guy'). I'm even more grateful that the MC's IQ does not drop as soon as they get together, as per many of the usual fluffy novels. I don't rank as high as 'you boys play games very well, ' which made me laugh soda out my nose, but it's pretty good. My rating is 3.5 so I'll round it up. <<less

Stars: 3.5

A good read to pass the time with sweet interactions between both the leads. Their interactions are super sweet, their parents are supportive which was definitely a plus, and the ML's audience too! I loved the positive attitude everyone had.

The antagonist wasn't exactly well developed but better than what you might find in some other novels. I liked how both the leads were smart and performed well academically.

One thing I was super glad about was how the MC (uke) wasn't inferior to the ML at the beginning. He was... more>> smart, athletic, campus bae, handsome, and all good qualities. Usually, we come across novels where the ML is oh so amazing while the MC is no better than dirt (exaggerated but still), the ML is the sexiest man alive, everyone is dying to be with him, he's super duper ultera smart, rich, and inhuman. It wasn't like that here and I thought they might be equals for once. I was wrong. What I want is an equal exchange and standing between both the leads and that goes both ways, neither must be better than the other (when it's done in an over the top manner).

Here, the author had noble intentions to make the MC super amazing, cool, but he/she pulled the ML down too much. ML is actually a pretty decent guy - smart, good-looking, charming in his own way, tall - a good character, I liked him. But the author made the MC too amazing - he's super duper rich, future president, blah blah blah. It's the dynamic I was hoping to avoid here but it showed up, just in reverse. This is why by the end, I was disappointed. It felt like the ML wasn't putting in enough into the relationship even though he was, it's just that the MC was putting in a little too much. The best contract from his company, publicly supporting him, etc. It just... made me feel like MC was trying to move way too fast, and way too deep despite being in a relationship for a few months.

Their relationship felt rushed and unbalanced, in short. This is a personal opinion and I'm sure what bothers me wouldn't be a problem for most. It's a good read and I recommend it, don't dwell in my negatives too much.

Also, thanks to the translator for their efforts! <<less

Personal Synopsis:

The mysterious student president is the campus's male god. Strong, handsome, and suspiciously silent, this good-at-everything god has unexpected secret!

When You Liangxing's roommate drags him into playing an online game, he meets a truly annoying person! Frustrated to the point of explosion, unable to stand it, he opens his mouth for the first time that game:

... more>> "If you can't even do it, then shut up!"

-

This is a story about an online friendship over a game that slowly turns into a romance. If you like any of these, this is for you:

comedy, slow burn, gaming, school / college settings, most popular person on campus, gaming, livestreamers, celebrities, social media and fan comments, rich ceo types, guys who have a poker face, sporty types, pretty people, lazy people, overachievers, those people who are good at everything, friends to lovers, online friendships, bro-con sisters, and good family relationships.

______________________________

I love this. I love this so much.

If you give it a chance, this slow burn comedic romance will be sure to capture your heart.

For one, it's funny. Really funny. I've been brought to tears laughing over KK's shameless actions, awkward conversations, situational humor, and the author's perfect comedic timing. While there are moments of seriousness, overall this is a lighthearted story that'll give you the warm fuzzies.

For another, the characterization. Both main and side characters have a wide variety of interesting and distinct personalities. The characters are just likeable. Unlike a lot of other books, I've never been frustrated or disgusted with them in a bad way. I just like them.

The romance is really sweet. They have a great dynamic, and you can actually see why they like each other. They have a great friendship, and the way the author writes their attraction to each other is really nice. There's a lot of tension where they lowkey know that they like each other but they're also unsure and it has me dying from anticipation. The way they slowly fall for each other is written so well. Also there's none of that weird stuff that usually comes with BL novels (or romance in general tbh). I think they have a genuinely healthy dynamic based off mutual friendship, attraction, love and support.

The gaming is enjoyable, and I think easily understood even if you don't play games, so don't hold back over that. I love the media aspect- I live for reading the fan comments, they're hilarious. There's a nice variety of settings; everything isn't happening in one place.

If you're considering reading this, please give it a chance!

* This was written after reading Chapter 84, about 60% of the way through the novel. If there are any drastic changes, I'll update my review. <<less

It's really funny and I personally felt that, contrary to what was mentioned in most reviews here, it was pretty grounded in the way the story was constructed. The 4th wall broke multiple times and sure, the MC was OP, but there were many satirical elements to it. And he has flaws in his character too. And the extra, are you sure ML wasn't being his usual poisonous self when he responded to his mom?

Spoiler

Like, MC is so rich, why would he do everything himself in their house? And, ML is conscientious in their relationship. He's not lazy without conscience. I think he was just teasing his mom. He wanted them to accept MC so he made himself look bad.

[collapse]

Overall, I didn't feel MC was OP beyond compare and that the ML was lazy beyond conscience. They both were just right for each other. And the way everything happened had elements of luck as well as satire as the author themselves were poisonous. So there were some jokes that people really took seriously and they were just not in on it. For ex, indulging someone because they love someone somehow means they slowly become a woman? MC was manly all the way. He was handsome and perfect the whole time. I don't understand some of the reviews here. They honestly detracted me from my reading experience because I kept expecting worse things to happen but I was pleasantly surprised by the humor and a good setting. ML is basically a crybaby in a giant body and MC is a handsome perfect man with a loli voice. They don't fit stereotypes. Just because ML tops doesn't make him dominant in their relationship. He is the wife. Whereas even though MC is bottom, he is a fierce and powerful one. Honestly, they themselves had a lot of sh*t to figure out and they do it silently and the exposition wasn't handled properly if I say so myself. But this happens in real life too. Not all relationships are smooth sailing always and not everyone is good at communicating. This was actually the part that made it ok and realistic to me. Because ML is a needy little bastard. He wasn't sane to begin with and MC themselves had conflicting feelings and communication issues his whole life. He wasn't even communicating properly with his parents and best friend. How did anyone expect someone like him to magically communicate well with his boyfriend without any prior experience? And even though they kissed, they didn't confirm their relationship and future plans until later in the story which is why the ML and MC were both insecure and were s*upidly muddling along in the middle of the story.

The author did have some writer's block I believe so some parts were a little dragged on, sure. But it was by no means an indictor of the characters going astray. This book wasn't a peerless work of perfection but it's not as bad as some of the reviews indicate either. So my only 2 cents is to make up your opinion after you finish reading the book and have some patience and read it with an open mind. Your assumptions will definitely be overthrown. Even the reason for MC being bottom is not conventional. So I rated it 5 stars based on my personal satisfactory reading experience. <<less

i've got mixed feelings about this novel. I really wanted to like this, but for some reason I just feel like that it failed to charm me. It not badly written, but it's not great either.

The first problem I had with this is how focused it was on E sports. I got bored reading those parts, and skipped a lot. And I know, that's on me, because this is an e-sports novel, what did I expect? But I just can't agree that it's all my fault. I have read other... more>> e- sports novels, and was able to enjoy it completely and read without skipping despite not playing the game. I think it wouldn't have been a problem if 1- there were less gaming scenes/ the scenes were more far apart OR it was written in a more concise way. Every attack and every action in the game is detailed to the max and sometimes a single match took 3 chapters long.

The second problem is Bai Yao, oh. my. god... I always hated the bro-con/sis-con trope, it's the worst thing ever and if you like it I hate you too. What saddens me is that bai yao had a lot of potential; her interactions with other people like kang shengze and her agent are hilarious, but the author should have dialed it down on the brocon thing

Now, for the good parts. Firstly, translation is good. Secondly, I respect how well-done the face slapping is developed in this story. The villain has a clear motivation, and is not s*upid and chooses a reasonable (albeit cruel) method to take out MC that isnt too unrealistic. MC's throwback is also paid in the same weight, in all instances. Basically the "revenge" was not over the top, but still satisfying, and the CP thriving was natural. I also like all characters, and really like MC and ML. They both have very defined personalities, are consistent, and charming. The fact that h*mophobia does not exist in this story is a plus as well; theres too much of it in real life, sometimes we need to read something like this.

Up to like the half of the novel, before they meet up, I really liked the romance. The development was nice and slow, they matched, things were going well. The day they met was also very great, full of action and development. But after that? I think the relationship went to shit.

I'm not gonna lie, they had their cute moments, but most of wha was supposed to be funny or fluffy moments I just didn't think were entertaining. It was just this eternal back and forth between kang shengze being shameless and throwing himself at You liangxing, and him getting pissed (not the cute/ amusing kind, just an angry, cold one). At random moments his heart softened, but he didnt vocalize that to KSZ either. Sometimes ksz would get jealous over the smallest things and do s*upid stuff... Idk, but to me it just felt like they couldnt communicate like people, and yeah maybe it was funny the first 8 times, but this went on for 1/3 of the story basically. I dIdn't feel like their love was genuine because even though they SAY that they love each other a lot, they didn't show it or have reason to. Instead of writing normal couple banter, the author wrote a weird banter (cant put my finger on it) that bored me to death. And most of this "love" were either expressed only on their heads, or through money/ gaming. They also really rushed things after they kissed for the first time, they were stalling because of insecurities and etc, but then immediatly after the kiss they just become a couple and all that conflict build up is thrown away and not mentioned. bu*t from chapter 125 forward they really patched it up and wrote it perfectly. All my complaints were fixed, this is the reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 3
Basically, up until chapter 68 it was good, then until chapter 80 it was a little worse, from 80- 125 I almost died from how boring and uncharming it was, and then all of a sudden it got really good from chapter 125- end
Basically, this story is not bad, but it has a problem with pacing and the development of the relationship at some points. I give it a weak 4, because that 90- 120 phase was rough. <<less

I liked the MC/ML dynamic in the beginning but I didn't like how the ML was written as more and more useless as the story progressed. I didn't like when even his parents are like "wow is the MC blind for wanting to date our son?" Why did the author have to write the ML like a useless hanger-on to the MC?

Too good. I love how the synopsis makes it out to be that the ML is the breadwinner and top when in actuality...

The MC is the CEO who signs the ML. It's hilarious how the typical roles are switched here. The MC is the campus god who is actually a CEO with billionaire parents. Yet, the ML is still the shameless one.

It's not to my taste, so while my rating says 4, my heart says 3. It's not bad at all, it's quite funny and enjoyable. It's nice to see the personalities of the Shou and gong flipped for once (aka coquettish, puppy like gong x Cool, collected CEO-esque shou). MC truly is cool, I even swooned for him a few times while reading! ML is sweet and has his eyes set on MC very quickly. My favorite interactions however were MC and his bro-con big sister. I found their banter... more>> utterly hilarious, especially the "Liang Liang, are you cheating on me?! Who the sl*t touching my precious Liang Liang!!" Intro.

Now the bad; Like I said, it's a very sweet and a decent read that overturns cliches, I just didn't really like the ML that much. Some of his actions were a little too much for my second hand embarrassment, that's all. The story also focuses a lot on the main couple, so the sister+brother playful interactions that were my favorite were lacking. It's also centered on gaming, but it just stays at live-streams which could be a plus or minus. <<less

The first 50% reads like a student analysis paper padded with filler words to hit a teacher's word count requirement (3-star). The second half's pacing gets a lot better and it doesn't feel like the author is padding the wordcount purely for money anymore (upgraded to 4-star).

I have tons of respect for the translators slogging through literally pages and pages of repetitive content. For example, an agent repeats the same thoughts about his broadcaster for more than TWO!! PAGES!! (literally could have been explained in 2 paragraphs).

That said, this is... more>> a pretty good gaming novel.

Good points:

  • for once, the MC is the "cold/aloof/rich 2nd gen" type <- +9000 points
  • ace!MC with loyal!dog!shameless!puppy!ML
  • cute romance, pretty equal friendship-to-lovers, UST, and most importantly, less feminization you'd find in some other BL novels
  • great humor, really cute and hilarious famly members as well as a low-key 2nd couple in the background
    • Spoiler

I wish there was an extra about the second couple!

    • Spoiler

Not sure why MC's sister gets so much hate, she literally doesn't act any differently from a typical older brother bro-con (usually much liked by readers), but she gets 100x more hate just because she's a girl?

      [collapse]
Another reviewer wrote that they felt the relationship was more one-sided because of how OP the MC was in this CEO role-reversal. I didn't feel that way, but even if it were the case, it would one of the reasons making this novel great.

Spoiler

An actual role reversal that emphasizes/parodies the stereotyped CEO-doting-ML and doesn't shy away from hitting it home.

Funny how readers hardly ever complain about "unequal" relationships when it's an OP ML doting on an average MC (to make readers self-replace into their shoes) .

[collapse]

I do recommend, just skim the first ~70 chapters to get past the ridiculously padded pacing.

Spoiler

One small thing is a lot of the in-game plays in this novel are actually pretty boring.

I'm a gamer, have played MOBAs, and I normally LOVE detailed gaming novels... but the plays in this novel arouse very little of my interest.

So I definitely don't blame non-gamer readers from dozing off...

It's so cute. It's unbelievably cute.

The romance starts off real slow, but it's worth the wait. Seeing their friendship gaining that s*xual tension gives me life. The dynamics of the relationship also seem pretty balanced and they really suit each other. MC is cold and kind of aloof, while the ML is like a big puppy dog.

I also like that neither of them seems to have the "weak role" if you know what I mean. They both have strong characters and are skilled in the game. Even when they fight 1v1, it will become a tie. It's a nice break from other BL novels where only one is ridiculously whit the other is meek.

Other than that, this novel does go heavily into gaming terms, which I tend to skip a lot of... Would still recommend even if you're not that big into gaming novels. <<less

Honestly, I would have enjoyed this novel way more had there not been such a HEAVY emphasis on MC’s extremely girly voice. Not in the ’average male whose voice is a little too high’ way, . But in the ’genuine, sweet, milky, and cutesy female’ way.

ML’s voice issue makes more sense because his voice conveys a completely different personality to his own.

Like how the ML is super lazy but his voice is loud and excitable.

But, okay. Whatever. I'm only really annoyed with it due to how often this information is shoved in your face.

At first it was very interesting, but after a while - aside from the MC being perfect at literally everything - his voice was pretty much his only defining characteristic.

Sure, this generally wouldn't seem so bad - but every time his voice is mentioned, the characters around the MC are always so shocked and filled with pity or acting like they’d learned this HUGE and terrible secret. It got annoying real quick, especially when people wouldn't take MC seriously when he expressed anger.

So what if his voice is sweet and girly? He can be angry too. Respect it.?

There wasn’t much conflict or anything. Well, there might have been a villain, but it wasn't anything alarming. So far, its just a smooth ridn. If there is an issue, it's usually quickly solved due to MC’s genius brain. <<less
