Not bad not good. The beginning is slow, there are some good ideas but the MC is almost the only character, not just a loner protagonist, there is no outstanding character besides him. It's a big con for me.
Spoiler

Also even if he really put efforts, everything come at him to easily because he's from a powerful family, why not? But there was no need to give him a cheat meteorite too.

The plot is good, the MC has a motivation to get stronger and the cultivation part is nice. The MC has a treasure that is too OP though, I feel it should have had more restrictions, gives the MC a big plot armor.

i only write this because I only made an account at the end of 2019.

stellar transformations. Not gonna lie, a bit biased here as this was my first one way back when, the start of CD, the migration out of LN subreddit, no patreons yet, just paypals for the adv. Chapters, all that jazz.

all the goodness but also the badness introduced to all those years ago - as of yet tropes, the dang perfected flowery (filler) chapters/volumes that I also do when I was writing papers to make them double... more>> the length but just half the meaning/content, and since this is an IET, the ridiculous ramping up of numbers on your face that will make you fly out of immersion from reading.

all in all, a 4 star experience for its excellence and also only 4 stars because of its dang marred fillers. <<less

This novel has 1 major flaw... the mortal realm sections. It is by far wayyyyy to convoluted and long!

The first arc was great which lead our protagonist to become an immortal cultivator. You get his family background and all that juicy character development.

The following arc was okay and definity kept me reading. It introduced quite a few immortant long term characters like Li'er, uncle Lan, and Fei Fei.

Thr next mortal realm arc? It dragged horribly to the point of me skipping parts! Very little was important and had any real... more>> yield going further. Most characters just up and died, others quickly loss relevance!

Finally we have the story get back on track after the mortal realm mega arc ends. <<less

Ignore those ignorant people who gives this novel 4 under stars. THEY Don't know true gems is!. THis novel is goood totally recommend it. To me this novel is Good. I love coiling dragon. Now this. Hoohoho I love it!

Both MC are badass. Their strength comes with hardship. The hardship is the better reward. They loves their family, who dare touch their family or friends will live in hell. MC will chase them to end of galaxy.

Side characters all have good background.

If you love doulou dalu where MC and his... more>> friends getting strong together and not left behind. Coiling Dragon and Stellar Transformation is for you.

Of course if you read coiling dragon and starts compare with this novel of course the coiling dragon plot is better. But it wasn't that bad. It still good. I found it enjoy. Especially volume 8...

Just read it. <<less

the second CN I read, it was unique in its own way. Intorducing me to the idea of the dantian as a universe and one of the most fundemental systems of xiaxia and xuanhuan. Where a person goes from mortal < immortal < god as well as the idea of "treasure/magic" tools and artifacts. And other genral trope of these types of novels.

stellar tranformation is average novel and Qin Yu is the genric template of a chinese MC which main trait is hard working and a unbreakable will. It might... more>> seem boring to some as the main characters main goal is geared towards his love interest and the novel itself lacks action in the later parts, with him focusing on crafting instead.

but although it has nothing unqiue about it, since its my second CN I read so I'm probable bias. <<less

I'd like to give 2.5 (half way poor and ok) but there is no.5 in the rating system. My scoring is comparing this novel with IET's other novel so don't let the scoring keep you off from reading this. This one is an okay read though especially coupled with Coiling Dragon (CD). I don't have read order preference, if you want to read based on the verse timeline, CD first than this. Nothing will be spoiled unless you read author's afterwords for Coiling Dragon.

There's a lot of plot holes, kind... more>> of weak ending, and couple of bad story telling within it. The translated power level system is a bit confusing before ascension part as it is still using Mandarin. I've completely read 3 IET novels so far, Coiling Dragon, ST (this one), and Desolate Era (in that exact order). Between the three, ST is the earliest of all and you can see IET's writing is getting better in each iteration, not perfect, but getting better. Some will dislike this kind of writing, as seen in the bad reviews but honestly, why bother read CN novel with these genre (Action Adventure Fantasy Battling[Xianxia/Xuanhuan]) if you hate these writing style, most of them are like that and a lot are even worse than this. I, myself, actually prefer CD out of the 3. If you want to know why, just read my review of CD. <<less

I gave it a four because I loved the last 7 books, the rest I hate. At first I had only read this due to the fact it was written by IET. That time I was a fan of CD and SS. After reading the first volume, it's fine, not too bad nor good. But I immediately grew sick of the repetitive scenes and bland actions. The story only became awesome when the MC reached the second/ middle realm (not sure what it's called anymore since I read it long... more>> time ago). Now that I think about, I'm quite amazed I managed to persevere in reading the first ten books. Well, at least the MC's journey from that middle realm to the divine realm was worthy of it. <<less

As it turns out, giving the protagonist and his party what's effectively plot justified invulnerability button for the entire second half of the series is a very effective way of removing tension. This problem aside, it was an enjoyable read.

Seems like a down grade of coiling dragon, but that did not stop me from reading the novel. It is still pretty good. It does slow down a bit near the end though. Ending is disappointing since not a lot happens. MC just sits around while everyone else is participating in certain activities and becomes powerful just by waiting near the end of the novel.

Oh come on. This is a must read novel. The MC is smart and reasonable in all of his actions. He is not s*upid like other novel MCs who kept on loosing their minds and make idiotic actions whenever something bad happens.

The MC knows his power and its limit. The novel doesn't have those plots where the MC's power exceeds the limit and gains unreasonable power in the brink of death and then miraculously defeated the unscathed opponent then survive.

I really wonder why people think of this as slow. Compared... more>> to other cultivation novels, this is one of the shortest. Other novels are unnecessarily long with 1500-2500+ chapters just to reach the highest cultivation a person can reach. <<less

For a longish xianxia novel this story was very good, though there are times in which it gets a little bit of repeating the cliche of; get attacked/abused, get stronger, smack faces. The main character actually has some very solid character development, especially in the first arc.

This is the first proper xianxia novel that I read years ago. Though, it took quite a time for a complete translation it is still one of my favorite. It is IET's first work so you can expect some mistakes, plenty of plot armors and inconsistent plot development but overall it is a good novel. Reading this novel was like playing a single RPG game, (with all the levelling up and going on adventure to find OP items). Though the story is inferior to some of other IET works... more>> and the ending is a bit bleh.. The novel is overall a good read. Anyway, I am a bit biased towards this novel so I'm giving it a 4 though it's somewhere around 3.5. <<less

Read the entire series in English. Originally picked it up after CD. It is the standard IET novel where MC ends up creating a universe. Though the translations got a bit erratic near book 10 and 11, over all the translation is good. The story is the standard xianxia. Don't expect anything new. For those who are new to CN novels, CD and ST (Grandmist Duology) are both completely translated so you can pick them up. The romance felt a bit shallow. AND, the brotherlyhood between the MC and... more>> a monkey seems a bit forced. The world is the standard one. The antagonists are not entirely one dimensional but you can't really expect too much as no major antagonist is present.
Spoiler

Similar to CD, the ending seemed a bit forced/ lacklustre. And, the plot armour is really stroong.

It is a nice read. Especially if it is one of your first reads. No nostalgia on my end. <<less

If you only read up till the end of book 4, it still feels like a good spot to end the story if you aren't into reading super long stories. Cuz that's where we reach the conclusion to his main goal ie; make his father proud, become a super dude, etc.

There hasn't been any romance yet up till this point but I like that there's no harem tag. Dudes pretty chill MC and I like that he doesn't have many cheats except like 1 ore his body consumed that just... more>> makes training smoother.

Pretty easy to read except for first chapter's descriptive setting explanation. <<less

It is done. Sniff... what a long ride it has been. The story is great and it gets better and better the further you progress. The start is kinda meh but it improves a lot later on. The ending is better than Coiling Dragon's ending. Sigh... Always a bit sad when you finish a good novel.

Sigh... It's over, I've been reading this for years now, loved it, the bad reviews about being slow and all that? don't pay attention to that, the novel has 18 books, of course it's gonna be slow, the first 4 books could be considered the prologue, you see the MC, from being a 4 year old child, growing all the way to an million year old immortal cultivator.

Read this! Along with Desolate Era and Coiling Dragon

This has been such an amazing ride. The characters, the setting and everything. Sure there were some weird parts, buy overall, this series is definitely a must read. I really enjoyed the different realms and worlds that were built. And the ongoing albiet slow romance.

Just going to say one thing that really put me off when reading this is the fact that the translation is a bit inconsistent. Not sure why but the wording itself can be much better delivered so that the audience may understand it much easier. One thing that cringe me badly is the grammar, not that I'm grammar nazi but at least as there is editor for each chapter, simple mistakes are not justified. Examples are wrong character name, missing words which can make binge reading harder and... more>> off -putting. Otherwise for the story its so-so. Character development is static but not that bad. CD and DE much better I think, maybe because the translation is better. Not that I'm bashing the translator, they are good and fast.

Sorry for the rambling. <<less

One of the most enjoyable journals I’ve read. I would recommend this story to all those who have the time to binge read chapters.

Spoiler

Qin Yu is a character who actually grows. His motivations move from proving himself to his father to carrying on the legacy of his master who failed to reach the pinnacle to proving himself worthy of the one he loves. I really did enjoy reading about his growth from a child with an inferiority complex to becoming a pillar which everyone looked up to.

[collapse]

Kinda sad that it's ending but this is a novel where the growth of the character is visible. If you enjoy stories where the character grows as a person as they grow stronger then you'll enjoy this story. Of course it's not a perfect story (I doubt such a thing exists), but it's a good read with a unique Cultivation method that's really interesting to read as he goes up in level.
